Welcome Fire Stormers!

This game will be somewhat similar to the flight system, but with a few added mechanics! I'm still balancing the game a little bit, so this will probably just be a quick, fun game with just a couple rounds. Feel free to give your feedback if you have any! If the game works and people like it, I will do several more (hopefully cross-wing) games in the future!

As a little extra bonus, joining in the drills/missions will give your character 'XP' that can be used for stat bonuses in future games (Note: wing games only, stat bonuses do not apply to outside games/missions unless specifically stated by its creator). Also, there may be a little 'surprise' for whoever wins the most XP over several games. ;D

RP isn't necessary, but there may be a little XP bonus for those who do. Still, anyone's welcome to join in just for the dice rolling!

Determining your dragon's stats:

All dragons start with 50 point, regardless of their color. Bonuses are added for age and experience, as shown below. Age refers to the dragon's physical age and is a measure of their general health and fitness. Experience relates to their time spent within the Weyr. Any Weyr is fine, as long as they were actively training for threadfall. I may add more bonuses in the future, but for now let's keep it simple!

Base:
+50 for all

Age:
- Less than 5 turns: +3 points
- Between 6-20 turns: +10 points
- Between 21-35 turns: +7 points
- Between 36-50 turns: +5 points
- Above 50: +2

Experience:
- Less than 1 turns: +2 points
- Between 1-2 turns: +7 points
- Between 2-10 turns: +10 points
- 10 or more turns: +15 points

Bonuses
- Fit/Motivated: +5

These stats are then distributed between the six stats shown below. (Note: there is one more stat added from the flights). These numbers are not set in stone, but should be realistic for your dragon and shouldn't change wildly between games.

Stats:
Strength
Speed
Dexterity
Stamina
Wits
Accuracy

Example 1
L'fer & Morpeth

Base: +50
Age- 13: +10
Experience- 6: +10
Fit/Motivated: +5
= 75

Strength: 8
Speed: 15
Dexterity: 15
Stamina: 10
Wits: 15
Accuracy: 12

Objectives & Rounds

The wing will work together to complete a common 'Objective', while performing individual 'Tasks' on their own.

Overall Objective:
This will be the main goal or mission the wing is trying to complete, such as finishing a drill or performing a sweep. Each dragon will roll a certain number of points that are subtracted from the objective total every round. When the total hits zero, the objective is complete.

Example
(Example) Objective: Save the puppies!

100

Tasks:
A task is a specific action taken, such as completing a maneuver, scanning the ground for threadnests, or flaming at a patch of thread. Similar to rounds in flights, you will be given specific stats to roll (such as Speed + Stamina, or Wits + Strength). However, in this case, you will also roll another die for the difficulty of the task, indicated by it's DC.

Example
Task: Fly to where the puppies were last seen.

Before you can save anyone, you need to get there! Roll Strength + Speed to head to where the missing puppies were last spotted!

DC: 10

In this case, you make two posts. First rolling your Strength + Speed, then a random number equal to the DC (so in this case 1-10). If your roll is higher than the DC roll, you complete the objective! Your roll - DC roll is how much damage, or points, you did this round and is subtracted from the Objective total (I'll do this for you).

Example 1: L'fer
L'fer rolls 1-23. Actual roll: 15

Getting the image from their flight leader, Morpeth took off at once, racing towards the last known location of the missing baby canines. Hopefully they would get there before they wandered any further!

---

L'fer & Morpeth's Stats:

Strength: 8
Speed: 15
Dexterity: 15
Stamina: 10
Wits: 15
Accuracy: 12

Strength + Speed = 23

Example 1: L'fer
DC roll 1-10. Actual roll: 9

15 - 9 = 6

((At this point, you know the results, so you can RP the actual outcome of your activities. It's up to you if you want to split your post, or just put all the RP into the latter one))

As Morpeth rose, they caught a particularly strong headwind, but kept pushing through nonetheless, until they finally made it to the patch of forest they had been shown as the puppy's last known location.

---

L'fer & Morpeth's Stats:

Strength: 8
Speed: 15
Dexterity: 15
Stamina: 10
Wits: 15
Accuracy: 12

Strength + Speed = 23

Points this round = 15 - 9 = 6

Example 2: D'erp
D'erp rolls 1-15. Actual roll: 3

D'erp & Derpeth's Stats:

Strength: 8
Speed: 7
Dexterity: 13
Stamina: 17
Wits: 11
Accuracy: 15

Strength + Speed = 23

Example 2: D'erp
DC roll 1-10. Actual roll: 5

3 - 5 = -2

((D'erp and Derpeth didn't roll above the DC, so they don't accomplish this task and don't contribute to the Objective total. This won't affect any future rounds, however. In the future, there may also be a damage taking mechanic, but for this first practice game, I'm going to leave that out! You don't have to roleplay a 'miss' and a total failure, just a blunder or misstep is fine))

As much as he wanted to help those canines, sadly, speed was not Derpeth's strong suit, and they soon found themselves lagging behind their wing.

---

D'erp & Derpeth's Stats:

Strength: 8
Speed: 7
Dexterity: 13
Stamina: 17
Wits: 11
Accuracy: 15

Strength + Speed = 15

Points this round = 3 - 5 = -2

If you want to roleplay it, generally the first roll indicates how well your dragon did, and the second determines factors beyond their control, such as wind, visibility, amount of thread, etc.

Rounds:

After each round, I'll post a summary of the damage done, then add the new objective.

Example
Round Summary!

Good job everyone! You made it to where the puppies were last seen. Those of you who made it on time notice a little white tail disappearing into the thick woods to the East just before it disappoears. Fortunately for those who were late, your wingmates pass along the information!

Morpeth: +6
Derpeth: Miss

Objective: 100 - 6 = 94

Example
Task: Search for the puppies

Find those babies! Roll Dexterity + Stamina + Wit to weave through the thick woods looking for puppy tracks.

DC: 15

The game ends when we complete the objective!

L'fer and Morpeth arrived in the Bowl a little early. He'd called an early morning meeting of their wing to run through some basic drills while the sky around the Weyr was still relatively clear.

They weren't going to be doing anything too crazy, just some basic group and individual maneuvers. His main objective for today was just to get a better feel for where everyone stood, their strengths and weaknesses, so he would know where they should focus their attention in the future. The shake up within the wings had been major, so although there were a few familiar faces among them, there were many riders that he'd never flown with before. With so many having returned due to thread, he knew that riders could come from vastly different backgrounds, and that a dragon's age alone was not enough to gauge their experience. He would have to judge each individually.

Well, that was the idea anyway. Though he'd met his riders before, briefly, when they were first assigned, this would be their first drills together as a new wing. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little nervous...

Early mornings were never a problem for Danzik and her dear sweet Eosphoth. The green had to put in little effort to rouse her rider when they were called for and Danzik was quickly dressed. She lingered on the slowly wearing straps with a frown, making a note to ask L'fer to allow her to inspect those of the entire wing. She'd seen too many riders neglect them and fall.

As the two settled down in the Bowl next to L'fer and Morpeth, Eosphoth kreeled reassurance at the pair. He looks nervous. Are you nervous as well, Morpeth? I know you two will do great. Eosphoth had offered such reassurances before, but there was no such thing as too much as far as this sweet green cared. Danzik patted her dearly bonded's neck. "Time to see how well everybody functions without their morning drink," Danzik stated in the same practical tone she always had. Yet there was some humor to it, perhaps the mother in her amused by the notion of fumbling children.

Vimiath should clutch soon, Danzik. Are you hoping for Lennik? He's gotten more frustrated since the last time... the green said, perhaps honing in on that mothering instinct her rider had. Danzik sighed. We'll see. I know I didn't have to wait long for you, but....I feel he's a little impatient. But perhaps Eosphoth understood the boy a little differently than she did.

K'gan was still yawning as Singarth dropped gracefully from his ledge into the weyr bowl. He back beat his wings as he came into land by the two greens sending up a mini tornado of dust at them. The playful flick of the blue's tail suggested it might have been done on purpose as an early morning greeting but he didn't say anything to back it up. The pair had just gotten back from a long search so K'gan was still catching up on his sleep, but Singarth had only recently eaten and was full of energy and quite pleased with himself after their successes.

Singarth raised one foreleg, twisting his head round while K'gan stepped down. "Morning Ladies!" He called executing an elegant and dramatic bow to the green dragons and Danzik. "wing leader." he added with a more restrained nod of his head. Behind him Singarth comically tried to mimic his riders motions twisting his neck in an uncomfortable looking S bend during the bow. One foreleg raising up under his chest at the same time.

Tired he might have been but K'gan wouldn't have missed this for the world. He loved 'training' even if he saw it as more of a game. A chance for him and Singarth to really stretch their wings and show off a bit as well. "Okay, so who's ready to get their shells handed to them today? Me and singarth are ready for anything. So bring it on, bring it on" he announced ending the last challenge in a sing song voice full of anticipation. He also slammed a fist into his opposite hand as a sign of open challenge. All the while waggling his brows in a slightly suggestive way to keep things friendly.

Edged on by his riders excitement Singarth spun in a circle behind his rider then dropped in to play bow his hind quarters waggling in the air as an invitation to the two green dragons.

Another dragon circled the bowl once before dipping his wings to come in for a rather harsh landing. Adarith's hands and feet stung from the impact but he was sure he had made a rather impressive entrance. He lifted his head high and unfurled his wings as they settled from the backdraft of air and he shifted them until they were comfortable against his back. Only then did the lithe rider on his back slide off, hair mussed and looking quite put out by the jolting he had received.

"Not your best landing, Adarith," T'sar said with a little sniff as he lifted his hand to fix his hair. His dark brown dragon gave a snort of amusement at his rider's state, obviously pleased that he had shaken him up a bit. The rider ignored his bonded's reaction to take in the few other riders that had already arrived. Although he had met the Wingleader briefly before he had yet to see who else would be in this wing with him. No names to put with the faces but he had certainly seen the men and woman before. He gave them a polite nod as Adarith leered above him at the other dragons, clearly pleased that he was the largest thus far.

"I do hope we're not late," T'sar said primly as he brushed a bit of invisible dust from his riding gear. "He's quite the heavy sleeper."

You mean you are the heavy sleeper, T'sarmine. I had to bellow in your ear and your mind to wake you today! The booming voice in T'sar's head made him wince a bit but he waved off the comment. What his wingmates didn't know wouldn't hurt them.

L'fer and Morpeth

L'fer lifted a hand and waved as the first of his 'seconds arrived. "Morning Danzik." he said gruffly.
He's fine. We'll be fine! Morpeth said brightly, trying to project enough confidence for both of them. But she sent an extra nudge of support at her rider. He did look a little nervous.. How are you guys?

"Heh. It'll be good for them." L'fer said with a laugh. "We can't always guarantee there'll be time for klah before thread falls." Though honestly, it's not like he had planned it on purpose to be intentionally harsh. He was just so used to being up on a morning that he didn't think of it as especially early. Remind me to schedule drills about a candlemark later from now on. he said to Morpeth, though for now, like Danzik said, it would be good to see how everyone would manage.

"Morning, K'gan." he greeted as the first of their riders arrived, unintentionally sitting up a little straighter from the relaxed posture he'd taken up with Danzik.
Who's he calling a lady? Morpeth snorted, shaking her head of the dust that was kicked up at them.
L'fer raised an eyebrow at the pair's antics, but said nothing else. Quite the theatrical pair, those two, but confidence wasn't a bad thing.. as long as it was backed up.

"You're fine," he said to T'sar as the brownrider arrived, followed shortly by several other stragglers.

He raised his voice to address the wing once all the missing riders had arrived. "Nothing too fancy today. I know we're all getting used to each other still, so we're going to start with some basic wing maneuvers and see how we go from there. Morpeth will send you the details.." he said, as his dragon transmitted images of the formation they would be flying in and each dragon's position within it.

Task: Take off.

Get the drill off to a good start! Roll Strength + Speed to take off with the wing.

((Note: RP is encouraged, but totally not necessary! Rounds should go pretty quick from here, so don't feel pressured to write too much<3 ))

Good job everyone! Some people were a little shaky in their take offs, but everyone is now up on the air ready for the next part of the drill.
