The assault on Gran’s frilly boots was relentless. Ffionn gave no quarter, and nor did he expect none to be given to him! Yet… even with fangs that had been sharpened by the conquered souls of a hundred-thousand unsuspecting boots, the kit was unable to snatch for himself his coveted prize. It had happened. Ffionn had never thought he’d see the day when true desperation wore heavy so heavily on his heart. There really was only one recourse.

Ffionn pretended to die.

Prying his jaw free from Granny’s slipper allowed the fox to promptly twist over onto his back. Eyes squeezed shut and tongue lolling out; Ffionn spread out his tiny paws, legs, and tail in separate directions. The best recreation of ‘death’ that the young spirit had gathered from the minds of the humans he stalked. The potential severity of his joke being completely lost, or rather, misinterpreted as: when people acted this way, they got special attention from others.

Thus the pouts that ensued when he didn’t get any? Well, they were enough to pucker his face as sharply and as sure as a biting bare toothed into a grapefruit. The rumble in his gut washed clean with the whispers of playtime. "UGhhhhhh." He grumbled while keeping his eyes downcast to avoid the intensity of his elder. Begrudgingly stepping into line behind Gran, but also pressing the boundary by taking dragging each moment on for as long as he could.

From under his breath, he mumbled a slow deciphering of his Gran’s confusing speech. If his randomly collected memories could even be called a deciphering. “Words. Binding. Like pulling apart wrapping on a cold morning, but also... pleasure? Words, they convey what I feel. Gran, I do not understand. Do words hide people… like presents? And... what are presents?” Confusion was certainly not a stranger to Ffionn’s face. Desperately he tried his best to make any sort of sense from his lesson until his eyes went wide and his head tilted so much to the side that it took his whole body with it.

Rising from the table, Ffionn let out an exasperated huff with the unnecessary complexity of this world. In his heart, he longed for a return to a place that was familiar to him. Something that you could be sure that he was going to sufficiently express to his hostess as soon as he downed every drop of soup in the bowl. Voraciously Ffionn lapped up all that was before him without any concern, or even knowledge, of what passed for manners in this place. His bright doe eyes looked up from between gulps. “Gran! Gran! What will we do when this is finished? Will you teach me?”

User ImageFfion was adorable, yes. Granny wouldn't deny that. In fact, while he pretended to play dead, eyes closed and blind to the world, Granny snuck in a small, adoring smile at the little troublemaker that was quickly revealing his true colors. However, she did not stop setting the table or keeping the pace going.

Once seated at the table, the could converse. Edges of her eyes crinkling, Granny smiled as Ffion sought to understand. It would not be easy, and knowledge such as this would only come with time, but it made her happy to see him try. Neatly eating her own soup with the utensils of a human, Granny explained in that cryptic manner that was a trademark of teachers of her kind, "Take your time, Ffion. Little by little. This world is complicated, but that means only all the more to discover. If we are careful, our lives can stretch for centuries, so hurry not and discover at your own pace." If that was all she could say, then she would have been happy. However, the warning she had uttered earlier had not been without reason, and she felt it bore repeating. "However, Ffion, heed this one piece of advice. Words can be present, gifts of joy, but that gift you give to the listener can bind you to them. Promises, is what we call them. Sometimes they can be wonderful, promises can be trust and trust can be comfort. Home. But when said to the wrong person, they can become a trap or a leash. Pain. Regret." Gently as she could, she delivered this important warning. Much as she could, she did not wish to scare Ffion into giving up. A fellow fox. A part of her did desire a companion just like her.

Naturally, the neatly eating Granny took longer than Ffion to finish. However, she did not make Ffion wait for her meal to end, and instead, she answered his question as she ate, "When we finish... Ffion said he wished to help, yes? But before he says he wishes to help, he should first know what he will help with, yes? Would Ffion like to follow Granny as she works?".

                                                            • "Something is off, something ."

Making his way across the valley, Deci sure had a way to make his presence known. Trees upon trees thundered, causing leafy greens to rain down. Alongside the neverending drops of green, it was as if the wind rebelled against mother nature. If you were to look in the rough parts of the oceans, down underwater, water currents could be seen whirlpooling into the abyss - the same was replicated on land, as if a semi-transparent tunnel of whirlwind stretched in a road - following the young Tengu as if it were his shadow, and causing havoc wherever he passed. Of course, there was no danger behind his motives, it was nearly the will of his feats, the will, and obedience of the wind.

A momentary pause soon came forth. A delicate waft of strawberry and tobacco soon presented itself to Deci. Something else seemed to sway him -another interesting monument caught the attention of his majesty. Crimson orbs shifted slowly, left - right - up - down, soon locking onto a grand-scale tree. Though his vision had zoomed-in, ( About 100x from where he stood, up until the big tree.) it was apparent the landscape surrounding this interesting monument was different compared to the other areas, nevertheless the young Tengu found interest in this location.

The wind collected at Deci's feet, soon propelling himself forward towards his destination. Scanning the landscape, a few unknown entities swarmed the swampy lands. It didn't strike him odd, due to the vast amount of creatures he's seen first hand. Especially, since nothing amounts to the creature trapped.. within. It had only taken a few minutes for the young Tengu to arrive at the front of the grand tree. Deci felt a presence within, something odd, something.. very old? It looked obvious that it was habited. Livestock, crops, sustenance surrounded the area, but for who?

Slowly descending, his feet touched the soft soil for the first time since traveling through air. Wind adorned his being, whipping obstacles and crops around him before slowly coming to a standstill. For those who would see the young Tengu, he stood 5"11 - black hair crowned crimson irises, and his skin a white-ish teal outlook. Black tattoo patterns could be seen from what visible skin was showing, which left mystery. Deci wore a traditional yukata and, as for his feet, nothing was seen. but tightened bandages that seemingly traveled up his legs and atop of his abdomen. It was apparent that he was built. Broad shoulders, a gaze, almost as if peering into the abyss, though with him the abyss stared back. Deci was alert, hands clutched and senses heightened to a reasonable level. There was no telling what was inside, though, for the young tengu, his visage showed a display of nothingness. He wasn't scared, nor impressed, though answers were the only thing he strived to obtain.

It was then when his eyes shifted towards the door before him. Slowly, wind surrounded his figure, before slowly accumulating into one spheric ball in front of him. The process itself was simple, though the moment he initiated an ill and hurtful intent, his mind crashed - his ears rung a thousand beats, it was clear that something had befallen him. His head smashed atop the door, causing a loud thud to resound.

As the intent went away, the effects slowly dwindled as well. But now. Oh, but now. He was pissed. <******** class="quote">

Ffionn was rightly befuddled. Two little paws cupped his nose, not unsimilar to how a child might have held their head when they became overloaded. Try as he might for Gran's sake, the concept of bindings, and how easily he may be prone to entangling himself with others, was too foreign an abstraction for the young spirit to comprehend. It was a good thing then that Gran placed no urgency on the matter. Leaving the kit to only nod eagerly, in his doe-eyed way, a mock understanding that perhaps one so old with the ways of the world would catch onto as false.

Then again, with all the enthusiasm of one who had no idea what they were doing, Ffionn yipped excitedly. "Work? Yes! I want to work with Gran! Work means we may be together, yes? Together!" More yips barked in the air while Ffionn scampered down from his seat, knocking the delicately carved wood piece as he did so. A tempestuous knock being the only thing to interrupt the fox's mirth. Sharp eyes flickered to the source of the disturbance. The bravery in his stance was held more of as an undertone to an intense curiosity that sat ready to devour whatever caught Ffionn's attention. "More Grans?!"

Today was a lucky day indeed; to meet TWO Grannies in one day? If there could have been any doubt in Ffionn's mind that not everyone in this world had to be a Granny, it was forgotten in his haste to gnaw and scratch at the door. Or at least what others would have called a door, as Ffionn himself was completely ignorant over matters of carpentry. "Gran! I don't understand? Where did the hole go? We're trapped!"

[Sorry this is late it's koko's fault I swear]

User ImageThe howling of gales, wind even indoors shifting to the beck and call of a newly arrived master. Fantastical, but nothing of a novelty to the wizened elder. She ate her soup, pleasantly calm and intentionally unheeding of the world outside, as Ffion grew excited over the concept of working. Only when she heard a "knock" on the door, did she pay any mind to the individual outside as, the way she figured it, a knock was the key to being given attention.

Ffion was there in a flash. Granny finished the spoonful of soup she had before slowly lowering herself from her chair and toddling over at a granny's pace. "My, my Ffion," Granny taught as she lifted the little fox up, two hands holding its middle, and away from the door he gnawed at. Setting him on the ground besides her, she explained, "This is a door. You open it with the handle like so, and outside, it seems we have a guest." As she spoke, she demonstrated by the opening the door, and once she had finished answering Ffion, she looked to see what the wind had brought in.

A tall male, handsome in demeanor and aggravated in expression. With hair as black as night and eyes as sharp as a hawk, she felt a sense of familiarity in his bearings and aura, not to his kind, but to something like or similar to his kin. In the land where she had met those like this man, with wings that could command the winds with a mere gesture, such humanoids had been called and feared as the Tengu.

A storied history that, for all intents and purposes, mattered less to Granny than the way he held his head. Eyes furrowing in great concern, she frowned up at the young boy, her own awfully youthful body turning the admonishing gaze of an elder into a cute pout of a little girl. The way she spoke, however, was as old as she was, "Oh, dearie. Why are you holding your head? Does it hurt? Did you hurt it?". Little hands reached out for one of the bigger hands of the tengu as she started pulling him in without any prompting. "Come in. Come in. Come now, we have to get your head treated!".
