The idea of working out was a hard enough task. Evie didn’t get to do it often, after all with school she barely had time to eat. She thought a morning activity would do them some good, however it had been ruined. Evie though saw the brighter side in it, that Ben still would want to hang out. She figured the least they could do was go to breakfast together. They hadn’t seen much of each other since the party, though they had been texting a few times.

Evie didn’t know if Ben wanted to ride together, or drive separate. She gave Ben both options, after all, seeing it was only fair. Evie watched as Ben shrugged soon picking an option. She nodded, smiling at his words. ”Sure, come on.” Evie responded, as she moved to grab her bottle of water and towel. She motioned leading the way through the throng of people toward the front door.

Once outside, Evie lead her way toward her car. She fished her keys from her pocket and pushed the key fob on her key chain to open her car. Evie opened her door, as she slipped inside. She moved to set his water bottle in the drink holder between the seats. Evie closed her door and moved to buckle in. She turned on her car, as she waited for Ben to get in.

He didn't expect her to be one who worked out daily. From what he knew about her, her schedule seemed to be insanely busy. She didn't need jerks like that guy interrupting. However, it couldn't be helped. As Evie offered up the idea of getting breakfast, Benjamin was happy enough to oblige. After all, it wasn't as though he had anything to eat before coming here. And it might be an opportunity to learn more about his bride-to-be.

Benjamin watched as Evie smiled and agreed to his words. He moved to grab his own things and soon followed her out. Together they made their way back through the gym and towards the front door. Walking out, he was then led through the parking lot, and towards her own vehicle. The tail lights flashed and the doors unlocked as Evie pressed the button on her key fob.

Walking around to the passenger side, Benjamin opened the door and slid into his seat. He set his things down by his feet before fiddling with the seat adjustments. Whoever sat here before him was clearly shorter as his knees nearly came to the dash. He pushed the seat back and adjusted the back before shutting the door behind him. He then buckled his seat belt while waiting for Evie to finish getting in and adjusting herself.

As she got into the car, Evie buckled herself in. She glanced toward Ben, who went about joining her in the car. Evie glanced to see Ben adjusting the seat beside her. She finished buckling in, as she started the car. Evie waited for Ben to settle in before putting the car into drive. She pulled away from the curb, as she started away from the gym.

Evie drove in silence for a little while before speaking. ”So how’s work?” She asked randomly, figuring the least she could do was learn more about Ben as well. Evie barely knew anything about her future husband. She knew they had a few things in common, but still there were many things yet to learn. Evie knew they weren’t getting married for a few more months, and yet she still wanted to learn about Ben, before their wedding night and eventually the rest of their life.

After they both were settled, Evie started her car and soon steered away from the curb. Benjamin sat quietly as they drove down the street away from the gym. He wasn't terribly bothered by the silence, but it seemed that Evie on the other hand was. He looked her way curiously as she spoke randomly. He didn't mind. He thought it was nice she took in an interest in his daily life. "Pretty actually. The week after the party, we wrapped up all our projects from the previous quarter and such. Like at the company I work for, my department mostly deals with the data entry side of marketing and a bit of sales. So there's a lot of spreadsheets that need to be filled out, copies to be made, clients to call, typical office work. But um, things have sorted quieted down for the moment. It's been pretty nice not having to worry about a bunch of nearing deadlines." he replied, smiling.

Benjamin wasn't too sure if Evie would be interested in his line of work. After all, it was kind of boring in comparison to what she studied. His main goal was to eventually run his own business. But for now he didn't mind learning the ways of sales and marketing. If anything it gave him a taste for what he might be in for later down the road in life. So he wouldn't complain too much. Still, if it interested Evie, he was happy to answer her questions. Especially since their date had been cut so short and there was only so much that could be said through text. He too was curious about his future bride. There was still a few more months to go until the big day arrived, he didn't see anything wrong with getting to know the person he might possibly be spending the rest of his life with.

Silence didn't bother Evie much, though she also didn't mind a little conversation. Learning about Ben's work was anything but boring. She didn't know anything about marketing and yet she was curious. Evie was in school and some day she'd finish to become a surgeon. However with Ben, she wanted to know about his future, after all it would soon be their future.


Evie listened as Ben spoke about his work life. She didn't have to understand Ben's work to just merely listen to him talk. Evie nodded, "What kind of business do you market for?" She asked curiously, seeing as marketing was just the minor detail of a business. What was the big picture and aim? Evie continued driving toward the restaurant.

Benjamin was more than happy to fill her in on the details of his life. Though he couldn't say for sure how interesting she might find it. Still, as he spoke she seemed genuinely interested, which made him only want to tell her more. Ben knew that she was still in school and studying medicine. But he wasn't entirely sure what she did day to day. Was it just classes? Or was she at that point where she worked in a hospital as well? How long did it take for someone to reach that point? He wanted to ask, but would hold off until she was satisfied with asking questions of her own.

After explaining things, Benjamin glanced over towards Evie. She nodded quietly before moving on to her next question. "The company mostly deals in medical supplies. The development of existing machines and how we can cheaply get it to parts of the world that are lacking in modern medicine. For example, last quarter we managed to ship out around five thousand vaccines to one of our locations in Southeast Asia. Next quarter, the goal is to come up with ideas for new prosthetic's that can be made eco-friendly and affordable for low-income patients here in New York." he replied. Glancing out the windshield, Benjamin watched as she continued to steer them in the direction of the restaurant.

Evie was curious about Ben. She only knew of the small details her parents had offered to her. Evie knew at an early age, she was promised to Ben. The thought had scared her. After all she didn’t know the first thing about him, especially not in detail. They had spoken a few times and texted, but beyond that there was still more to learn. She couldn’t help but feel like a game of twenty questions would help clear the air.

Questioning Ben, she didn’t know if he would answer her. However he seemed willing to answer anything. Evie listened as Ben responded, explaining to her what his business marketed for. The ideas were interesting and yet fascinating to her. She drove toward the restaurant, listened as Ben spoke. Evie smiled at the idea of providing for those in need, especially when it came to important things as medical supplies. ”That’s fascinating. I’ve always admired those who help out in the countries that need them most, when it comes to medical supplies. I know it’s hard enough to get the basics.” She commented, as she continued to drive down the road.

Benjamin didn't mind her asking a few personal questions. It made sense after all. For as long as he could remember, they'd been promised to one another. And in all that time they had hardly spoken more than a few words before being shooed away by their parents. Benjamin would be lying if he said he didn't have questions of his own. Who was Evie, what did she like, her hopes, her dreams. He wanted to know all that and more. Especially now that they were past legal age. It was only a matter of time before their parents chose a wedding date for them. He would prefer to get to know his betrothed before the wedding rather than after.

Hearing Evie ask about work, he described the company as best he could with some of the better details of the company as a whole. He doubted Evie wanted to hear how he mostly sat at a desk doing data entry. As he spoke he watched as she took interest in his words. He watched her smile, and nodded along as she then replied. "It is and that's one of the reasons I chose to work there. There are plenty of faceless companies that just grind their employees to death to make a profit. I wanted to work somewhere with meaning. Even though I'm still kind of on the lower end of things. I think it'd be fun if I could move somewhere a bit higher up and maybe pick the brains of some of the more creative members of the company and how they manage to pull it off. Like I know sponsors and share holders play a big part, but I'm really curious to know what holds everything together to make the goals possible." he replied with a bit of enthusiasm. He couldn't help it. Ben was a total business junkie. He grew up watching his father and grandfather build their own companies from the ground up and make their wealth. He wanted to do the same for himself one day. But he still needed to learn a few things before that could ever happen. He just didn't have the right amount of experience to pull it off on his own just yet.

Evie enjoyed the idea of learning about Ben. She barely knew the first thing about him. Many of what she knew was in passing from her parents, or friends of the family. Evie wasn’t sure if half the stories were true. However it was easier to ask, then to beg for forgiveness for thinking the wrong thing.

She wanted to know anything and everything about Ben. Evie wasn’t bothered by the small things. She wanted to get to know Ben as well before the wedding. Evie was happy to hear Ben was proud of his work and wanted to grow. She wasn’t bothered by his enthusiasm, in fact she was fascinated by it as well. ”I bet you love puzzles.” Evie teased about the idea of understanding the bigger things in life.

Just like Evie, Ben knew very little about his bride to be. Just like her, it was through family members and mutual friends. All of them were nice things but somehow they felt a bit forced. As if they were trying to create some perfect bride in his head for whenever the big day was settled. If he didn't actually care about whom he was spending the rest of his life with, he probably would just ignore it all. However, something about Evie made him curious enough to want to get to know her. To know more than the endless information being fed to him day after day.

Talking about work, Ben couldn't help getting a little excited. He was a bit of a nerd when it came to things concerning business. He found it fascinating and wanted to know more, especially when it came to big business. He smirked as she teased him. "It depends. I don't really care for crossword puzzles or Sudoku. They're pretty boring. But I can be swayed to play chess now and again." he replied matter of factly. Benjamin did enjoy puzzles, but mostly visual ones. He found that word puzzles and brain teases could be boring sometimes.

Puzzles interested Evie though her puzzles weren't games either. She liked exploring new things and gaining new experiences. Evie knew Ben wanted to further his future. The thought interested her though she worried for her own future. She was going to school and still had many years of it to come. Evie wondered what Ben's plans were for his future.

Talking to Ben about his future and listening to his passion was interesting. Evie couldn't help but tease Ben. She listened as Ben commented and laughed at his words. Evie didn't mind games that made her think though chess was something she never understood or saw the thrill in it.

Simple puzzles and brain teasers had never been something that interested him. If he was given a puzzle he wanted something a little harder, something he could see and touch and give him a challenge. Where he was currently in his work didn't provide much of that, but his end goal however did. To him, business was much like chess as he would always need to stay thinking three steps ahead. Benjamin didn't mind being teased. He was more than happy to provide her with a little banter. He smiled as she laughed at his words. "So what about you? Do you play? Chess, I mean, or like any sort of puzzles for that matter." he asked curiously. Just like Evie waned to know more about him, he too wanted to know about her. He would gladly listen to her talk about school and medicine. It seemed fascinating in its own way.

⋮ ۩ ) • • • Evie was enjoying herself when it came to asking Ben questions. She had a million thoughts in mind. However she knew it was not best to bombard Ben with so many. Evie figured Ben had questions of his own. They were nearing the restaurant, only a few more lights. She heard Ben question her. Evie shook her head, "Mm, I've never found the appeal to chess… Though I'm more of a word game kind of person like Scrabble." She replied smiling at Ben. Evie like the strategy of words and information.

Benjamin didn't mind Evie's questions. Like her, he too had some questions he would like to ask. But he could wait, he was quite patient when it came to answering questions as his little brother, Sam, had a similar habit. He continued to drive them in the direction of the restaurant while answering Evie. A quick glance her way, he caught her shaking her head in response. He smiled at her words. "Hey, word games aren't bad. I'd be down for a game of Scrabble. Besides, it's Monopoly that ruins relationships." he joked. Passing through a second light, Ben turned his gaze back to the road.

⋮ ۩ ) • • • Evie couldn’t help the questions that popped into his mind. She barely knew Ben, except for the stories her family and friends had told her. Evie was curious after all wasn’t it natural to be curious about the man she would soon be marrying. She wasn’t marrying Ben by choice, but that wasn’t to say the man was horrible. Evie always knew she’d end up marrying Ben, since she was a child.

She listened as Ben joked and teased. Evie could understand the meaning behind it. She found it amusing, ”Mm, so true. My brother, sister and I played it a few times when we were younger...I don’t remember us ever finishing a game.” Evie replied laughing softly.
