spaceIf Sebastian paced for too much longer, he was going to have to pay someone to come fix the giant hole he'd worn in the floor. Unfortunately, he couldn't seem to stop, even though he was almost completely certain he had absolutely no reason to be nervous. At all. That's what he kept trying to tell himself, anyway. And, logically, he knew that he was probably right about that. Hell, if he waited too much longer, he probably wouldn't even get to propose. His girlfriend would get impatient and do it herself. He'd been trying to wait until Kiki and Balder's wedding was over and done with, but the two of them were dragging their engagement out for what seemed like an impossibly long time. Mostly because planning the damn thing was apparently a nightmare and a half, which had Bas significantly less interested in having one himself. Unfortunately, as sure as he was that Aleah would say yes, he wasn't quite as sure she'd be cool with eloping. And even if she was, he wasn't entirely certain the marriage would last very long if they went through with it. Considering he'd be dead. Because someone in his family would have killed him.
spaceRunning a hand through his hair, he glanced around the room. Low lights, lots of candles, check. Romantic dinner, check. Tootles off at his parent's house so he didn't interrupt, check. He hadn't burned the flat down cooking dinner, or ruined the meal itself in any way. Oma had made the dessert, so that was probably perfect. It was a really great set up for a really nice, romantic night at home... Which was part of what was freaking him out so much. Something had to go wrong, right? This couldn't go off without a hitch. It wasn't possible. Something had to happen to make it blow up in his face. There was no way that, of all the major events in their relationship, him proposing would go smoothly. Nothing else ever had, from the time they got together to their first date to the first 'I love you.' Even moving in together had been a nightmare, thanks to his bloody sister and Eve. Something was almost definitely going to go wrong. The question was, what was it?

spaceBas blushed crimson when Aleah entered and immediately commented on the setting. Okay, so he wasn't exactly subtle. He hadn't been going for subtle anyway, so what did it matter? And anyway, he'd known she would be coming home from work, so it wasn't like he hadn't taken that into consideration. He gestured to himself, clad in his normal lounge pants and t-shirt. "You're not any more under-dressed than I am," he pointed out, going for breezy but very much missing the mark. "I figured the perk of a romantic evening at home instead of a romantic evening out was that we could do it in our pajamas if we wanted to." He ignored the question, hoping that she'd think he'd answered it with the 'romantic evening' bit and not realize there was more going on than that. Unlikely, since she could read him better than just about anyone but Balder and Caty, who only had the benefit of having known him longer, and Ada, who had known him since birth on top of being a bloody empath of all things. But, he could hope. And divert her attention.
spaceAt least she'd asked about dinner, he thought. That made things a little easier, since it gave him something else to talk about. "Uh, it's eintopf. Um. Stew. Oma's recipe. Well, actually. It's her grandmother's recipe," he told her, chuckling slightly. "Uh, basically it's just... stew. Pork. Some vegetables. Nothing spectacular. But I know how to make it, so..." He blushed again. He wasn't a bad cook. Not in the slightest, in fact. He'd been cooking with Oma and his mum since he was small enough to need a stool to see the counter. But, this was a pretty simple dish, which meant less room for mistakes. He didn't need to make this any more difficult to pull off than it already was, after all.
spaceOf course, she knew he could cook, since he did it fairly often. But he hadn't ever made this specific recipe for her, mostly because he'd never made it without his grandmother before. But, now had seemed as good a time as any to try. He swore it wasn't as good as Oma's, but that might just be his nostalgia talking. "I, uh. I didn't make dessert, though. Oma did. It's, uh... it's also her grandmother's recipe, actually." He wasn't going to bother telling her what it was called, because 'Prinzregententorte' was a bloody mouthful. It was a damn cake, it was covered in chocolate, that's all she needed to know. Unless she asked, he guessed.
