      "The sun watches what I do, but the moon knows all my secrets"

      Welcome to The Lunaris Pack, where those who respect the moon reside. The nocturnal creatures of this pack
      welcome you, although tread lightly, as they are as quick to flee into the night.

      The Lunaris Pack, situated right in the center of the realm named Eclipse, is a pack that greatly respects the moon and those who prefer to walk among it. Members are entirely nocturnal, waking just as the sun sets and going to sleep once the sun is up. While they are nocturnal it is important to note they don't resent the sun; they hold a healthy respect for the daytime and understand most creatures both need and choose to exist within that time of day — they just choose not to. Emergencies are often the only reason you'll see a member of Lunaris awake during daylight.

      Many members within Lunaris resemble the moon itself in both color and personality. Slightly aloof and quieter personalities are common here, and many with stars and moon markings are welcomed eagerly. Despite the honest preference for those who resemble the colors of the nighttime, all Doggos are welcomed as long as they are nocturnal and respectful of the pack. The pack greatly values those who are clever and quick on their feet, as physical strength is not typically something the pack believes is needed for survival. The ability to find you way out of any situation is important and their young are immediately trained to think instead of attack.

      The pack is tightly knit, although the Alpha remains to themselves when not tending to pack needs. In fact, the Alpha is probably one of the most aloof members of the pack, although she does actively protect the pack and is quick to resolve any hostile situations. The pack also is considered the sister pack of Solaris, as the Alpha's are related and the packs share the same home, switching at their respective times to sleep within the nearby caves.

      Lunaris does share their materials and kill with Solaris, as it seems fair since they're sharing the same turf. Some members even share caves with their Solaris family members, as some families are split within the packs. Solaris is seen as their other half, and while they don't often understand their warmer and more energetic counterpart they still speak fondly of them. Except... the Alpha, she seems to withhold her tongue for some strange reason when Solaris is brought up.

      The Lunaris Pack stay within Eclipse, which resembles an Earth with no human life upon it. Within Eclipse species often are split into two halves; those who exist solely diurnally and those who are nocturnal. This makes hunting far easier, as there's still the same amount of prey at both hours. It may be weird to see a bat flying about at daytime, but you'll get used to it!

      Lunaris and Solaris share a forest within the realm that is directly against a mountain. Several lakes and ponds can be found here, and a waterfall can be even found within the caves that have been dug into the side of the mountains for the pack members to sleep within. While most pack members elect to stay in their own familial caves that can connect to other members, it is not unheard of or discouraged to live somewhere else in the forest as long as you tend to your duties.

      The moon is of great importance to the Lunaris, as they function solely when it is out. This means celestial events can something perturb or excite the pack. Meteor showers are viewed as unlucky days, as they believe the sky is angry for an unforeseen reason. Solar and lunar eclipses are viewed as excellent luck and one of the few times they may even decide to be awake with the Solaris pack and spend an entire day with them.

      New moons are considered something of great evil, resulting in the entire pack retreating into their dens and avoiding the world around them. Without the protection of the moon, the pack believes evil runs rampant. Those of a darker nature might enjoy the evening, but the pack might gossip about those particular Doggos.

      Puppies born with stars or moon edits or markings are viewed as closely related to the moon and often seen with higher standing within the pack.

      User Image
      While Lunaris tries not to favor certain types of members of others, they aren't successful. First, the Alpha is the leader and respected by most. Those who challenge the Alpha or refuse to obey to direct orders are often neglected by most members or even banished in extreme circumstances. Due to the Alpha's celestial markings and edits, they're seen as a "piece of the moon" by some of the more spiritual members.

      The Beta, elected by the Alpha themselves, is the second-in-command, however this does not make them next in line to be Alpha (despite how some members feel!). The Beta protects the Alpha and is their closest confidant. They know all the small ongoings of the pack and often report back to the Alpha. They have permission to act on their own free will, as long as they aren't abusing any rules. It's safe to say if the Beta orders something they're backed up by the Alpha.

      While the Alpha and Beta's are the direct line of powers, those with celestial markings often find themselves in a higher position than other members solely by bias. In the same vein, members with sun-like colors or markings might find their opinions disregarded here and there. This is often acknowledged by various members within the pack, but until either a new Alpha arrives or the current one can be successfully swayed it seems to be a problem that will persist.

      Those directly related to the Alpha or mated to the Alpha or Beta also seem to hold more sway in conversations and pack matters, although the heir (the one who will directly take the Alpha title once it is free) gets most freedom.

      The Lunaris believe that family isn't just limited to blood; those considered family can be close friends, too. They also believe it's possible to outcast someone who has greatly hurt or shamed their family, although it isn't used commonly.

      Romance is something quietly celebrated, as most Lunaris members like to keep their lives private. However, lifemating's are a big deal, as it's believed two families are merging into one and is cause for a small party under the moonlight. The Lunaris, however, are very cautious of romance outside of the pack and greatly encourage those pursuing it to bring their intended one into the pack. Outsiders could possibly hurt the pack or bring along problems the pack isn't necessarily prepared for. While they try and be welcoming to those not within the pack or even those intending to join, it takes a bit to win their trust.

      Romantic relationships with someone diurnal or within Solaris is heavily discouraged, as that is essentially signing up to live a life where you never see your partner unless sleeping or during an eclipse. It's not impossible, but the pack will generally believe your relationship is doomed if you try and engage in it. However, friendships with those who are diurnal are hardly batted an eye at, especially since Solaris and Lunaris exchange puppies if need litters have those who prefer the other way of life more than the one they were born into.

      Children are expected to learn about each role and prepare to take one. While Lunaris loves and welcomes new litters, their reaction to puppies is far more educational than anything else. It's a chance to raise a new generation of the pack. Children are allowed to play, but they're taken aside for most of the night to focus on studies and training. They also are encouraged to switch to Solaris if they do not feel nocturnal, and they'll even allow their puppies to spend a few weeks within Solaris so they know what life is like amongst the sun. They don't want to raise puppies who might panic if, during an emergency, the pack must travel during daytime.

      Puppies have a much quieter life within Lunaris, but they grow into capable adults with a multitude of skills, such as; knowing a little about every role, the ability to swim, the ability to hunt at a young age, reading the stars, and understand the constellation.

      User Image
      Lunaris does not necessarily have an official naming theme, although obviously puppies with celestial or nighttime related names are preferred. Various different names for the moon is an extremely common name to bestow on a puppy, as well as star-related names.

      Lunaris does all major ceremonies during the nighttime. While unplanned things such as a birth or death during the daytime obviously happen, any ceremonies attached follow once the moon is up. Nothing is doing during a new moon, meaning any ceremonies normally held on that day will be pushed to following day.

      User Image
      Once a puppy reaches adulthood they are given their role. Their family and friends gather as the Alpha announces what they'll become. Any protests towards their new role will be often considered only once the new adult has tried their role for half a year. Being given a role is considered the moment you're officially a useful member of the pack, and as such not many protest what they're given.

      Note; You as the owner get to choose the role. It is up to you how your character feels about it.

      Those who join are met with a quiet excitement, although it takes a bit for the pack to entirely trust the newcomer. Those who join are allowed to watch other members at their roles and are trained much like puppies were; given multiple lessons in each role before they're given their role by the Alpha. The day they receive their role is considered the day they're officially a member and often the pack is far more welcoming at this point.

      It's a sad day when a friend has to leave, but some members may want to leave for a multitude of reasons. Leaving on good terms is met with a sad goodbye party, and those close to the member will give them trinkets to remember them by. The member is allowed to visit the pack whenever they wish.

      User Image
      Those who end up banished are quickly exiled the moment the punishment is given. Reserved only for those who are a threat to the pack, banishment often means they'll be dragged to the realm gate and forced out. After the member is gone those close to them will often toss out trinkets given to them by that Doggo. Their name is only spoken in whispers or hushed voices.

      User Image
      Coming together as one family is a big deal. Lifemating is not something all Doggos do, but those who partake in it within the pack see it as marriage. A massive party is thrown and the united members are showered with gifts by pack members. It's not uncommon for some of the older pack members to even try and whisper about puppies at the newly wed members!

      User Image
      Birth is a quiet affair, as usually puppies are quietly born within their parents cave and the Beta visits to ensure they're healthy before announcing to the pack about the new lives. The parents are offered double the food to ensure the puppies have healthy and strong parents, and often the pack takes turns visiting the puppies. Litters born on a full moon are seen to have especially bright futures and gifts may be given.

      Death is another quiet ceremony, as the pack believes when one dies they return to the moon. It's the next stage of life, and to them where they'll all meet. However, it's sad to consider they'll never seen them while alive, and so some members decide to decorate the graves and eat the deceased favorite kill to remember them by.

history
inspired by; brutus

past;
- solaris and lunaris alpha's share a mother
- mother favored solaris alpha, reminded lunaris how they were rarely any good and were as useless as their deceased father
- any achievements lunaris had were brought only by solaris help, and much like the sun and moon, lunaris felt like she only shone when solaris was behind her
- resentment stirred under a false pretense. solaris adored her sister, lunaris despised hers. they kept together as adults only because lunaris understood solaris enriched her life. resentment harbored.
- solaris followed in her father footsteps, deciding to make a pack. lunaris agreed originally to join solaris, but abruptly she disagreed and announced she'd make her own. solaris was thrilled; lunaris was irritated at her sisters approval
- under solaris' good intentions, they agreed to share a realm and location. their packs would use them at their specific times (solaris; diurnal, lunaris; nocturnal). lunaris grit her teeth at the fact that, again, her life involved solaris, but her own self esteem caused her to agree.

current;
- pack is created and lunaris settles easily into her role, although she's colder and more aloof than her sister. it is unknown to her pack and solaris her fury towards her solar counterpart, but with each new member a plan starts to be constructed. violence seems bound to happen, although it's hidden thickly under a false smile.

outside relations

solaris;
allied with solaris, as they share not only a realm but also direct location within the realm. solaris and lunaris share food and materials despite being separate packs. children are also exchanged if a child ends up diurnal or nocturnal and are in the incorrect pack. information on the lunaris alpha's hatred is unknown unless discovered through RP, and currently things seem healthy.

    metaplots;

    current;
    - the current metaplot revolves between the sibling relationship between the two alphas of solaris and lunaris. lunaris will begin breeding with those she feels are beneficial and powerful, whether this is a singular mate she claims or rogue males she settles for, and how her choices will eventually cause the lunaris to find a new realm to live within
