The two options were to reach the spire and escape from death, or to keep fighting and put their escape at odds. They knew what option they wanted to perform, but as their mind drew toward that answer, they looked ever somberly at Kaito. Kaito, who would follow them through life and death, wouldn't hesitate to make that choice. But could Avalanche live with the knowledge that they put him in harm? Even if he was to die moments after? They felt a pause, like their throat clogged and their breath shortened. But they forced themselves through the fear and resumed eye contact with Kaito. "We need to give the people of Arashi as much of a chance to flee as possible. If that statue is interfering with that, then we have to take it out." A single handseal formed and a shadow clone manifested forth. "Get all of our cats and take them to the spire." The vigilante told the impostor, before it disappeared and headed off. Avalanche nodded at Kaito and held their hand out. "Till the end of the line, partner." They said, ready to depart as soon as Kaito understood what they were putting at risk.

Kaito was oblivious to the depth of Avalanche's internal monologue but he nodded in agreement at their choice. "I hope their retreat here suggests they're leaving Arashigakure for good. We'll need time to purify the village of any Jashinist sigils and check for seals in case they wanted easy access back. But the hospital first." His voice was calm and collected despite the fact he felt completely wired. The adrenaline of the fight and the righteous anger at seeing the innocent people who'd come solely for prayer and solace mowed down was making his heart race. He knew they would still need to take care of the deceased in the temples, respectfully, but that would require more hands, medics, and some clergy to oversee the correct respective burial for the different religious sects.
His heart was heavy at the thought of the desecration of each place of worship but the battle wasn't over yet. They needed to clear the safety of the living before they could put to rest the dead. Another version of Kaito would have been paralyzed by that heartbreak, or traumatized by the genjutsu that he could still feel the tendrils of in his head, but this version of Kaito had Avalanche by his side and he was always good and safe and good around the other. If nothing else, he knew the two of them would make it out on the other side and achieve justice for everyone hurt.
He didn't look back at the bodies before the two of them quickly moved to the demolished hospital. [exit]

He would come to a stop at his immense speed and examine the damage of the area from the Jashinist invasion. The reincarnation chakra from his tenseigan began reconstructing any damaged objects or structures. He was especially focused on the village's flight mechanism to repair any damage to prevent the village from completely collapsing. Once the damage was restored he allowed the reincarnation chakra to dissipate. He then maintained his flight path with haste to the next destroyed area.

The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. Satisfied with the effects of his babying Fuku, Tomo followed the lead of his younger cousin. Barely taking any notice of the priest that had been rendered unconscious, Tomo strolled past with hands buried in his pockets. Too look at the young man with a pair of cat ears crowning his head one would think he was somewhere else other than the middle of an attack. Tomo had long since learned that there was very little he could control in this world and accepted the chaos. It was a lesson he wished his family would have learned themselves. Luckily he had not personally pledged himself to the village otherwise this attack would have been a real headache. As it stood he saw himself as an observer, impartial to the dispute taking place.
Before long the trio of cats found source of the noise, a fight between a couple of locals and the attackers. Looking over the scene couldn't tell who looked more ridiculous, the man who's outfit made a mockery of the priesthood or the fool in the mask playing hero. What a laughable bit of the theater it all was. Tomo was happy to sit back and watch how events unfolded but Kiichi it seemed was not. As his fiery cousin insulted the Arashi vigilantes he couldn't help but smile. Kiichi had little patience for outsiders, something that had landed them in trouble more than once. He wasn't wrong though, these people had failed their duty to protect the village before they ever even joined the fight, it was little more than revenge at this point.
The words that left Kiichi's mouth next truly took Tomo by surprise. Kiichi cutting a deal with the mysterious attackers was something Tomo had not seen coming, even more surprising was their agreement. It seemed Tomo had been recruited to the cause without ever opening his mouth, what fun. "Look at you cousin, taking charge, cutting deals... I'm so proud. "He made a show of wiping away an invisible tear as he spoke, as if he was emotional over how proud he was of his cousin. With it looking like they were leaving he thought it best to inform the others of these events. Tomo quickly made the hand seals necessary for a fire clone. As soon as the clone appeared he whispered it some instructions before it took off. He watched the clone leave before he turned back to Fuku. "Looks like we've been saved, shall we?" He asked rhetorically as he motioned to follow after their new comrades.

She stuck her head in the sand so she didn't have to address the elephant in the room of Satoshi, or the elephant named "we never see each other anymore," or the elephant that bore their intimacy problems, or the elephant that exposed how she only seemed to commit to the village in appearance but never seemed to connect with the people like a first lady should. So many elephants that neither of them ever acknowledged. Their marriage was a ******** circus.
She fell to her knees at the temple. It was empty - after the assault, there seemed to be many more people exploring their faith at home. Or maybe they had abandoned their faith. She let her head fall back and her eyes stared unseeingly at the ceiling above. If she had been at the Spire more often, this wouldn't have happened. More frequent financial reports could have given him a greater feeling of control over the village. He needed his advisors. If she had checked in on him during his late nights at the Spire, this wouldn't have happened. More opportunities to feel like a person instead of a figurehead would have grounded him. He needed his friends. If she had come home more often, this wouldn't have happened. More moments of being loved would have made him feel wanted. Human. He needed his wife. She had abandoned him on all fronts because she was scared of what would happen if they looked at the problems. She didn't have solutions and it terrified her because she couldn't predict the outcome if they talked about them. She left him alone because she was afraid of him leaving her alone due to their issues.
She was so stupid. Her mother had died of a broken heart, hadn't she? Kameyo closed her eyes and brought her head forward so she could look ahead. Her hands were clasped over her chest and she felt the beats synchronize. She felt the threads over her chest untie so she could reach in and pull out her oldest heart. One of a water nature that had belonged to her grandmother. It had saved her life when he grandmother's shop collapsed in the fire. She looked at it and felt like she had betrayed them both - but most of all, she had betrayed him. It was unforgiveable. Her mother died of a broken heart and she had been so scared to love but she had done it anyways and now she had, what? Broken his heart? Broken her own in the process? No, no, that wasn't it. Her heart had gone and walked away. Her heart was out of her body and it wasn't in her hands. It was between realms. It was unknowable. Imperceptible despite her prowess in that area. She squeezed the heart in her hands and watched it without blinking as the pressure built and built and built and built and bui
She had closed her eyes at one point. She saw her hands before her, red and stained with her own organic material. The heart was spread between the floor and herself, unrecognizable chunks scattered everywhere. She stared at her red hands and couldn't muster up much emotion about it. She let her hands come to her face, let the fingers trail down and catch on the stitches that adorned her mouth. She pulled on some of the stitches with her nails as she continued to bring her hands down until they left her chin, fell limp to the top of her thighs. Stitches removed, her mouth hung open wide and tendrils dripped out. She must have looked like a monster but nothing like the one she felt like. She let her head hang down.
She had chosen a path of far non-violence after the dreams, the nightmares, the anxiety and uncertainty had eaten her subconscious and had started to consume her consciousness. Maybe it had been born of Satoshi's leaving and his attempts to summon Jashin but she thought that was only one small part of it. The memories of everything from before Arashi had played a part in her waking nightmare, too. She never said a word of it to him. She had simply withdrawn further into herself. He might have thought she hated him, or resented him, or was disgusted by him. She hadn't talked to him in so long. Gods, how long had it been since she'd last heard him say good morning, since he'd last made crepes in the morning. Since she'd last held him. She couldn't even remember. She had turned to the slugs to help her - and they had - but her healing hadn't brought her home. It brought her outwards. She had been helping people outside the village and had jumped at the chance to help Kenshin when he asked because she wanted to make up for her earlier transgressions towards him, because she wanted to turn a new leaf and completely abandon the old rogue Kameyo and fully embrace Arashigakure as she should have done from the start.
She had healing to do but the path she had chosen hadn't made her a better advisor, friend, or wife. It hadn't fixed anything externally and it had only helped her with her own psyche. Taking the path of the healer had not turned her karma around or protected herself from this ache or protected him from his burdens and pain. Non-violence had not protected the village and it hadn't spared the life of all the civilians who had been slaughtered. Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.
She had tried and gained nothing, ultimately, not at this high of a cost. The weight of it threatened to consume her as she sat there unmoving, unseeing. There was nowhere for her to turn. She'd tried Buddhism, she had tried to find a better path because she knew her old path had not been working but the new didn't work either. Maybe she was fooling herself and it was all one path. Fooling herself because there was absolutely no other outcome. It was always going to be like this, wasn't it? When she entered his personal life, this was always going to happen. Condemned to a happiness that was slowly evaporating, evading, escaping from between her fingers like smoke. She let the fire burn around her and didn't stop it. And now she was, what? Distressed by the empire of ash that surrounded her? What sense did that make? It felt like her own tendrils were suffocating her. She wanted to escape, to run, to hide somewhere no one could find her.
No.
No, that was the problem. It wouldn't help anyone to sit like this. She was doing nothing and suffering alone in silence, exactly as he had done in the face of his demons and where had that gotten him? She had to stop. She had to stop. Arashi was getting another chance and she had to advise this time. She had to help. If she had loved him at all then she needed to protect the village he had loved so much it nearly killed him. For if- for when he returned.
She got to her numb feet and tried to ignore the ache in her knees. She hadn't found any God in the temples that she could take solace in but she had the resolve to see things through and to try. If she didn't have any answer, she needed to say as much. She had to expose her hearts and be vulnerable because she couldn't make the same mistake twice. Things wouldn't be easy but she couldn't run away or hide in her work or find a third pact of animals to play pretend with. She committed to Arashi even before she got the engraved headband for herself; she committed when she first laid eyes on him. For better or for worse, in sickness or in health, she was with Arashigakure until it sank in the sea or burned to the ground. Every life of hers was committed to it. For Toso.

▱▰▱Kenshin arrived in the Monsoon Temples and would briefly visit the temples of Evergreen and Ninshuu. He could see Kameyo in the area but he knew that he had a long journey ahead and that to keep himself spiritually centered was of vital importance. Kenshin was dedicated to the Mother of All's mission to eradicate Jashin and all of the evils that he hath wrought on this world. The dedicated templar would worship at her alter briefly before visiting the lightning ninshuu sect. The lightning sage could feel the energy of raiton that bound humanity together and found it deeply inspiring. Once it was time, would seek Kameyo out and had much to say. "Lady Kameyo." He greeted her formally and rather gently before bowing. She would be able to tell that he had a lot on his mind. "I need to find the other jinchuuriki to stop Jashin's plans. I'll need you to accompany me on this mission because you know how to transfer the demons between people. Even under these...odd circumstances." Kenshin was assured that Kameyo had the expertise that he needed. "I've found a way to use some of Gyuki's chakra with my sage chakra to keep purifying the demons even without his full power. I don't wish to carry this burden any further. No one man should hold all the power that I possess." The sentinel spoke humbly and made it clear that he wished to transfer Gyuki to a different jinchuuriki now that he was purified. "However, my mission may involve a confrontation with your husband. Are you prepared for that possibility?" He needed to know where Kameyo stood on this extremely important matter. Kenshin diverted his gaze from her and onto the ground for a moment as he made a confession of his own. "Do you want to know what I fear most? Having to choose between Ada and what is right. I hope that I never need to make that choice." Kenshin's words and tone of voice were highly empathetic as he placed himself in Kameyo's position. "For the longest time I never told Ada how I felt about her, not because I feared her rejection, but because I feared that love would interfere with my duties. She showed me the right path in the end but I still wonder if loving her will ever force me to take the wrong course. Choosing between her and what is just? In my heart, that's no choice at all." Each day this thought dwelled at the back of his mind. It was a worry that Ada always supported yet it was still ever-present within him. Kenshin feared that love would be the death of duty. His heart practically raged against him at the idea of forsaking Ada to do what is moral. "I'm doing everything the right way to stop Jashin but the price is that I don't get to see her face every day. It pains me but I must march on regardless. What choice would you make, Kameyo?" Kenshin was honest and true despite being massively uncomfortable with opening himself up like this over such private matters. However, he felt compelled to speak on these issues given Kameyo's present predicament.

Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

Hands clean, she then used them to assist her tendrils into returning to order, fixing her facial stitches and letting her mind settle into a thoughtless peace as she made herself presentable again.
She was surprised to run around and see Kenshin. It was a testament to how deeply she had been removing herself from the world around her in her penitence, because she certainly should have sensed his chakra given their recent proximity and the sheer size of his resources. She listened to him but knew before he finished that she wouldn't be abandon him, too. But it was hard to hear how his dual devotions to justice and Ada were so great that his strongest fear was a conflict of those two very values.
At least in her case, Toso made her decision for her. "My life is dedicated to service of the village, not Toso. I'm prepared for any outcome for the task ahead." Immediately after speaking, she found herself remembering that she had taken bloody fingers to her face earlier to pull out her stitches, and so there would certainly be some faint trails of it on her face. She rested a hand on one side of her stitches and traced the drying marks. "I am learning just how entwined sacrifice is with duty, in the world of shinobi. But it's a life I've chosen of my own volition.
"I like to think I've learned my lesson about leaving. I'm fully committed to your mission, 'til the end of the line." She felt better since she had this task hanging over her head in service of the village. If she had been left behind while the others carried on with the purification, she would be lost inside a village that needed help a thousand different ways. She wondered if Kenshin knew that was what he was offering her: a hand out of the overwhelming guilt that threatened to drown her.
"So," she said as she perked up a little bit, "who is coming with us this time?"

SHIONxxxxxMORI Despite leaving at roughly the same time, Shion still somehow managed to arrive fashionably late to the temple rendezvous point. A bit of light packing and final delegations before she wandered off for who knows how long into the wilds needed to be done, but nothing that too serious. Approaching the pair waiting for her, Shion would stick her hands into her jacket pockets and simply say, "Aight, I'm here."
“Hey, you!” Musica called out from the door to the Monsoon Temple, jabbing a finger directly at Kenshin. The girl had followed him all the way back from the Spire. The bitter taste of the whooping the cultist gave her was still fresh on her tongue, and it drove her to follow the one who fixed Arashi. The hero, Kenshin… Musica hadn’t been sure of how to approach him or the woman he was with. So she’d lurked just outside the temple, trying and trying to come up with the best way to get her own feelings across. None if it had worked, and the longer the shinobi took, the more she felt like her chance was slipping through her fingers. It wasn’t until she’d heard Kenshin say something about being ready to leave did Musica jump around and make her presence known.
So when Kenshin’s gaze fell to her, Musica felt herself freeze. The presence of him, Kameyo, and Shion all pressed down at her like a weight. Could she do this? After her defeat, did she deserve to? Musica gulped as she tried to push the doubts from her mind, and replaced them with thoughts of why she was doing this. Old Man Fuyu, Sunflower Orphanage, her family. “You’re taking down those crazy bastards, right?” Musica set her jaw with determination as she did her best to not unlock her eyes from Kenshin’s. “Bring me with you.” She was silent for a moment before she remembered her manners, bowing at the waist. “Please.”
▱▰▱Kenshin appreciated Kameyo's dutiful response and noted internally how much she had changed from when he first met her. "It seems that through great effort those born in Gimangakure can become loyal shinobi." His voice was almost sentimental as he referred to Kameyo but also himself. Kameyo would be aware of Kenshin's own background if she recalled their first conversation years ago. When Shion approached them he nodded and pointed to her. She arrived at the perfect time to answer Kameyo's question. Kenshin was still uncertain about how to process Shion hugging him. He had never experienced any sort of affection from Shion before given their rocky past. Shion's tumultuous history with authority did not help matters. However, he was satisfied in completing his duties and helping Shion restore Matatabi. "Let's get going-." As Kenshin turned around to leave he was interrupted by a stranger approaching him. "It is hard to stay in one place when your mind is devoted to another. But this is a very difficult mission ahead of us." She tapped a hand on Musica's shoulder with the intention of being supportive, except the meeting of their two chakra systems resulted in an almost shock-like affect on Kameyo, making her flinch, and causing a curse seal to appear on the genin's body. Kameyo held her own hand and watched the seal grow on the girl. "It's the Jashinist's corrupted chakra that I sensed on you in the Spire - the last remnants of it."
She looked at Kenshin regretfully. "I need to keep an eye on her to see how the mark develops, especially because it was my interaction with her chakra that caused it. If I can still be of service to you on this mission, I'll need to do it with her by my side. Musica is my responsibility," she said earnestly, but it hung in the air like a question. She didn't want to abandon him but she couldn't leave the girl in good conscience, not if she wanted to understand the Jashinists' chakra signatures to protect the village and find her husband.

SHIONxxxxxMORI Shion's aloof glower was quickly broken by an inquisitive brow raise as Musica came running up to the group. This had to be a joke, right; there was no way in hell she really thought she'd be allowed on the mission, right? Shion's eyes darted to Kenshin, giving him a quick head-shake in affirmation of his decision. "Kameyo, we're the three strongest shinobi in the village, and this may even be too much for us. Surely you can get someone else to babysit."
Shion eyes the genin up and down, getting a feel for just how big of a liability they were about to take on. She seemed spry... very eager. This was bad. Shion saw a lot of her younger self in the girl and immediately recalled the first time she jumped into action too hot for her. "Like, we're not about to track down bijuu with a fresh-from-the-academy recruit, are we?"
She wasn’t sure what kind of answer she was expecting. But Musica knew the answer she wanted. So when Kenshin said no, the girl’s expression fell away to mild shock and confusion, unseen by her bow. It’s true that the girl wasn’t the strongest person in the room. And her encounter with Junepi had taught her she had a long way to go, the hard way. The very hard way. But she had to do something; she’d been the only one in the Spire not given an assignment. Fresh from the Academy? Maybe so. But needing to be baby sat? Not a chance in hell.
So as Kenshin walked around the girl, Musica made her move. The girl rushed around, moving with a burst of speed to stand directly in Kenshin’s path. Her haste afforded her a quick burst of chakra to her dash, creating a burst of arctic wind for a brief second. Musica stood in front of the sannin, her arms outstretched to her sides as she stared up at him. “Those guys attacked my home, and put everyone I’ve ever cared about at risk!” She exclaimed. Her voice was loud, not with anger but with passion, pure and simple. “I’m an Arashi shinobi, and it’s my duty to make sure they don’t hurt anyone else! I can’t just stand by and do nothing!”
By the time she’d finished, Musica had riled herself up to the point of breathlessness. But she stared unflinchingly at Kenshin, her eyes glowing like marbles filled with lightning. It was then Kameyo spoke to her, giving the girl words of support and comfort like the mother she never had. The woman placed a calming hand to Musica’s shoulder, but the reaction was anything but pleasant. Musica cried out as a jolt of pain ran through her entire body on contact with Kameyo. The white haired girl jumped back, skidding back from the group. Sparks of black lightning trailing the ground from the path her feet took. Musica was turned slightly, her hand reaching around to clasp on the source of the pain on her neck, her face grimacing. “What.. do you mean? That those bastards infected me?”

Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.
Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.
