▰ Guild Rules:
These are the general rules for RPers, their characters, and combat.

    • Mind the Gaia Terms of Service rules. We're a little flexible on them in regards to cursing and suggestive situations, but would prefer you specifically take care to avoid:
    • Cybering, aka RPing of explicitly sexual situations. By all means do what you want to do on some other platform, but this type of content violates Gaia's ToS fairly obviously.
    • Harassment, including but not limited to: use of real-world slurs of any kind (yes this includes IRP), in character stalking of another person's RPC for OOC reasons, OOC stalking of a fellow RPer in guild or Discord chat spaces, and so forth and so on. Use your head, if you think saying or doing something might get you in trouble, it probably will.
    • Avoid performing "Auto-Acts" without the permission of other people involved in an RP scenario. This includes things like auto-knowing info you shouldn't. Auto-hearing a conversation without information as to where it's taking place. Auto-hitting of NPCs or RPCs, except for those techniques, like Genjutsu or Mist Vision Technique, that rely upon it.
    • If an "Auto-Act" is suspected, report it to a crew member for review. Please avoid starting arguments if you need something like this dealt with. Moderators exist to moderate, let us do so.
    • Do not make threads in villages without the permission of a kage; if you are approved to make a thread it is your responsibility to provide a header image and any necessary description, not your kage's.
    • Do not make threads in the main forum without the crew's permission, especially pertaining to your leaving and the reasons for said departure. We have a thread for that, please use it.

PvP Combat and Killing of RPCs in Shinobi Revolution

While the guild is not structured explicitly for PvP, we realize that situations may involve it and that ideally RPers should be allowed to transition into these scenarios without stopping to ask permission. Instead, to avoid the types of arguments that most commonly tend to drive people out of guilds like Shinobi Revolutions, we have chosen to make death the prerogative of the RPer in control of a mortally wounded RPC. As a GM in a tabletop RPG will often allow their characters to survive a deadly encounter, so we extend that choice to you. Mortally wounded RPCs will enter a convincingly death-like state, prompting the departure of their opponent and their return to their village's hospital, if a member of a village. Rogues / Wanderers will find this process a little more complicated. If previously hostile to a village and incapacitated within its walls, RPCs will be transported to the village's hospital and placed under guard; if not hostile, they will simply follow the same process as a normal shinobi of the village they're currently in. If incapacitated outside of a village, and not assisted by another RPC, they will be left for dead and wake up either in a nearby populated thread or Gimangakure, having received stabilizing treatment in the process.
[ Crew discussion needed before finalization. ]

    • Abide by the flow of battle:
    1) Attack. (Avoid Auto-hitting or else.)
    2) Allow Opponent’s Reaction. (Avoid Auto-evading or else.)
    3) Repeat the above.
    • When something reads “Lasts # Posts” it means that many of your own posts, starting with the post
    the effect began in.
    • Always avoid performing “Auto Acts” as listed above.
    • There can only be 3 jutsu actions per post. In any post, only a maximum of 2 actions may be
offensive. This is excluding passive techniques.
    • Do not double post. It is best if you quote everyone involved and follow the established post order of combat. If someone does not reply with 5 (five) days you may skip them and resume the post order.
    • A technique's chakra and stamina cost can only be reduced by up to one rank. No matter how many sources of cost reduction a character has they cannot reduce the cost of a technique beyond this absolute cap of minus one rank. Also, no technique can cost less than 5 in chakra and stamina.
    • There are many ways to increase an RPC's chakra and stamina pools beyond class and experience boosts such as through personal attributes, event rewards, and endgame. However, the absolute maximum resource pool amount that any RPC can have is 5,000 and this can never be exceeded.

Roleplay Character Rules:

    • No RPCs that specifically copy characters from any anime, Naruto included, may be made.
    • No RPC may use images of canonical Naruto characters as a guild representation.
    • No RPC may use real-life images as a guild representation. For example, you cannot have a Justin Bieber or IRL K-pop star ninja.
You can have a maximum of [10] role playing characters (RPCs) at any point in time.
    • Unless stated otherwise, you may only create human character. Some exceptions may be made regarding specific circumstances (such as with tamers), which can be reviewed during the approval process.
    • You cannot RP your character in a combat scenario until at least its profile has been approved. However, you can post before approval for social scenarios.
    • Your characters cannot interact in a way that benefits each other, including but not limited to: trading of custom weapons, teaching of techniques including customs and transferable bloodline jutsu, trading of ryo, arc/event or mission rewards and crafting resources, trading of purchased items, trading of restricted scrolls and sealed techniques, transferal / creation of curse marks and implantable materials (or receiving these items from your own RPCs through any other party).
    • Your character cannot use weapons that can't be justified for use within the Naruto canon, on which SR is based. That means no running around with an assault rifle, or piloting a mecha.
    • All characters unless replenished start at D-rank body. Those within villages can start at E-rank body if an academy student. The title rank of Genin is the maximum title rank that can be bestowed upon a new character.

▰ Bloodline Rules

    • Multiple violations of guild rules regarding combat, such as employing Auto-Acts or God Modding, can result in the stripping of an RPC's Kekkei Genkai at the discretion of the crew.
    • Follow the specific rules of each Kekkei Genkai, which can be found for each bloodline in the spoiler below.

▰ Guild Content and Submission Guidelines

Shinobi Revolution (SR) is a collaborative work, a collection of individual items remixed over more than a decade, but the nature of Gaia's guilds means it is not inherently open source. We recognize that this guild is the work of multiple people, many of whom are not members of it and may not even be members of Gaia anymore. We also know that this particular corner of Gaia is subject to a detrimental number of dubious "copyright" claims and infighting over use of materials that are, ultimately, best stored in a publicly visible guild. It is for that reason SR will use the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, about which more information can be obtained by clicking the icon below.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

At its heart, this license sets in stone that the core of SR belongs to all if its members, and all of the RP community on Gaia; that its content is free to be used, and altered, for any other guild so long as that guild attributes SR along with any listed creators - and by association all those who have contributed to it prior to the point of this license's adoption - when reusing its content, and similarly makes available their content under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonComercial-ShareAlike 4.0 license, or any newer version of this license.

More information about proper attribution of content from this guild can be found on the Creative Commons website. If you have questions regarding the use of SR systems in your guild, please feel free to contact the crew.

Submitting Content to SR

The purpose of this decision is to negate unnecessary conflict, and prevent our members' role play from being disrupted by disputes that do not involve them - and, hopefully, defuse some of the negative elements that have caused SR's predecessors to fracture over the years. As such it is vital that you understand the nature of your work in the guild, and that these guidelines apply to all members of it - from the Captain down to the person who has yet to submit a profile for approval.

SR openly welcomes the submission of content by its members, regardless of their status in the guild. However, know that submitting a technique, style, rewrite, system, or other item beyond the scope of your character (I.E. customs) is submitting it into the collective ownership of the rest of the guild. We would also like to stress that submission of content is not a guarantee of its inclusion. We will do our best to review all submissions, as we respect the time and effort that goes into them, but may not have the time to do so immediately depending on the state of the guild. While accepted submissions will be attributed to those members that worked on them, final submission and agreement to their use in the guild comes with the acknowledgement that you cannot remove them from the guild later on. As no element will be introduced to the guild without some form of collaboration, you are also bound by the guild's Creative Commons licensing if you decide to move your work elsewhere.

▰ Multiple Action System

How not to die via swarming.

So you're a single fellow, right? You get targeted by multiple rpcs. These rpcs can be multiple puppets, shadow clones, or a lot of rpcs could really hate your guts. Anyway, you're being attacked with more attacks then you can reasonably handle. That is where the multiple action system kicks in.

The multiple action system gives your rpc one additional action per target they have attacked them on the turn in which they are being attacked by multiple forces. The magic number of attacks which must target you minimally is four. Even if you face off against a hundred opponents, if only two attacks will collide with you one way or another, this system does not help you. From the fourth attack forward you gain an extra action, per every extra attack. For the record, these reactions can only be used to deal with any attacks that are levied at you. For reference, the dodge system used for evasion can be found here. This allows you to survive being targeted by multiple opponents at the same time, even if you have to run your resources dry faster. These excess granted actions can only be used for [Defensive] actions used to evade or protect oneself. Using Eiseijutsu to heal oneself can only occur if injured. Using a technique that would otherwise enhance your abilities but not protect you cannot be used. The resulting should always end at a net 0 outcome. The alternative method for defending against multiple actions is as follows.

▰ Resource Collisions

When being targeted by multiple attacks an individual need only spend the amount of resource that is compromising the attacks to fully defend themselves against it with a reasonable technique. I.e an Area of Effect burst. So long as the resource is equal or higher than the resource spent comprising the multiple attacks all attacks are successfully defended against and at times may actually prove to defeat them and deal some damage less the individual defend themselves. In these cases where a person defends with more resource than the oncoming attacks use the following calculation for defending against.

{Resource} - {Resource} = {Amount Required To Defend against}
I.e Two C-rank attacks are sent out to attack Jim. The Total Resource is [50] to defend Jeremy uses one A-rank [100]. Jim then requires an amount of [50] resource to Defend himself. In his case [100] - [50] = [50]
•Any actions that would have been granted by the additional action system that are dealt with using this method will forfeit said amount actions that would have been given to defend against them.

▰ Respec Guide

Definition:
A respec is a substantial change to a character profile that requires resubmission in the profile approval topic. Changing an RPC's class, bloodline, or personal attribute would require a respec because it is a fundamental change to the character's build. Changing a character's physical appearance with a new face claim or adjusting height, weight, and eye color do not require a respec.

Rules:
1. Every RPC gets one free respec upon creation.
2. Additional respecs may be given with moderator permission. For example, an update that impacts your character's class, techniques, styles, or bloodline.
3. You cannot respec your RPC into a new or different character.
4. All RPers will still get their one free respec, to be used at any point they deem suitable, the player may spend 200 XP for an additional respec, increasing by 200 for every additional respec. Meaning you get one free, spend 200 XP on your second, 400 on your 3rd, 600 on your 4th, and so on. This way, RPers will be able to try something new, but will have to spend a little time playing with their new build.

Please do note: if you are required to respec because of a change crew made that directly affects your character (ie. We change your bloodline, class, etc) you do not need to pay if you wish to respec.

▰ Demon, Sage, Forbidden Seal. and Golden Dragon Guide

Descriptions:
The most powerful forms of chakra that an RPC is able to access are demon chakra (tailed beast, bijuu), nature chakra (sage), corrupted nature chakra (forbidden seal), and the chakra of the celestial realms (golden dragon). What makes these various chakras so powerful is their ability to make certain techniques overwhelming at the S+ level which is not possible otherwise. They also have the benefit of added resource pools, enhanced stats, etc. There are various methods that an RPC can obtain these powers that will be elaborated upon. Accessing these chakras requires the temporary activation of their various forms (tailed beast transformations, sage mode, activated forbidden seal, and activated mark of the celestial dragon).

Demons are the most powerful of all of these entities but are also the most limited and require a demonstrated history of commitment to the guild and a majority moderator vote. Demons have the most amount of chakra and high statistical abilities, particularly in the stat that the demon specializes in. Demons have powerful unique techniques and abilities and their full power is accessed through three stages of tailed beast transformations as demon cloak stages 1 and 2 and the demon mastery stage.

Sage mode is is an empowered state that can be entered by blending natural energy with one's chakra. It is generally considered very advantageous for chakra-based character builds. Sage mode is accessible from summoning contracts called animal sage mode, the rarer human path (cannot summon, unique custom sage mode), and certain bloodlines (such as Senju, Seinaru Enjo, and Hoshigaki). You can have a bloodline sage mode in addition to either animal or human sage mode but cannot be both an animal and a human sage. Because of the rare ability that human sages have to manipulate nature chakra without the assistance of summoning or DNA, their connection to summoning creatures is severed. For bloodline sages, the sage mode is inherent to their very being and thus is always accessible to members of those select clans.

Forbidden seals, also known as curse marks or cursed seals, are a deviation of Fuuinjutsu, designed to artificially allow its bearers to access and use Nature Energy. Forbidden seals are considered very powerful for more physical character builds as they are able to allow the user to reach peak statistical states while in use but with significant statistical drawbacks after use. A standard forbidden seal can be obtained by discovering and mastering the Forbidden Seal Technique or being a victim of the Forced Seal Technique. Additionally, certain bloodlines are cursed and have their own forbidden seal (such as Kaguya, Akuryo, and Yozen) that is latent until activated. You can only have one standard forbidden seal but you can have a bloodline forbidden seal and a standard forbidden seal. All summoning creatures are disgusted by corrupted nature chakra and will not accept being summoned by any forbidden seals users with the exception of those with the Yozen Sacrosanct Seal PA.

Golden dragon is said to be a gift given to those who have achieved a certain level of enlightenment through ninshuu, that or in some cases by pure chance, and gives the user access to celestial chakra. The Mark of the Celestial Dragon (Golden Dragon) is a deviation of fuuinjutsu and functions similarly to forbidden seals without the usage of nature chakra. Unlike the other sources, the Golden Dragon does not appear in canon and is most commonly seen in use by the samurai who still follow widely follow the principles of ninshu. However, it can still be accessed by shinobi. Each mark can be obtained in a variety of ways but to only those of certain body ranks and classes.

Rules:
• Demonic chakra, nature chakra, corrupted nature chakra, and celestial chakra can never be mixed together or korabo'd. While this is possible in canon, in the lore of SR these chakras are incompatible with each other and cancel out. These energies are naturally powerful and will conflict with each other.
• The effects of the demon seals of loss, adaption, and growth can be used with sage mode, forbidden seals, and golden dragon if the demon is no longer sealed.
• Demons, sages, forbidden seals, and golden dragon are able to grant increased physical capabilities when they are in use. In terms of stats, the following entities give certain stats cap increases:
▱▰▱Demons give their hosts one stat of their specialty that boosts to 12 and three stat boosts to 10 during the demon mastery transformation. The preceding demon cloak transformations give substantial but lesser boosts.
▱▰▱Sage mode increases all four stats to 10.
▱▰▱Golden dragon marks vary in their stat increase offerings by shinobi class.
▱▰▱Forbidden seals increase two stats to 12 and two stats to 10 in their unleashed stage. -4 in all stats for five posts after usage and the seal is made dormant. The awoken stage preceding the unleashed stage offer powerful but lesser bonuses. It is encouraged to reach the unleashed stage with each forbidden seal usage to make the most out of it before the drawbacks take effect.
• It is possible for an RPC to have access to more than one of these chakra forms. However, only one advanced chakra source can be used in the same battle and they can never be used at the same time. Because of these limitations, the only combat advantage to having multiple sources of advanced chakra is a wider variety of strategies that can be chosen between in a battle. Keep the following limitation in mind:
▱▰▱You may possess bloodline and human path sage mode and a forbidden seal. You may not be an animal sage with a forbidden seal. Forbidden seal users and human sages are incapable of summoning.
▱▰▱You may have a demon and any sage mode and forbidden seal and celestial mark.

▰ Yin & Yang Release
Yin & Yang Release are nature transformations that exist outside of the 5 basic elemental natures as well as outside of Maruton. Yin Release is described as the use of Spiritual Energy to control imagination and give form to nothingness. Yang Release is described as the use of Physical Energy to control vitality and grant life to forms that have none. The combination of the two is known as Yin-Yang Release, and combines both the use of Spiritual and Physical Energy to create unique effects that may not otherwise be possible within the bounds of normal jutsu. These releases are little explored in the series, and as such have their own unique meaning for the guild as a whole in comparison to the entire series of Naruto. Much like the series, many non-elemental jutsu such as various chakra manipulation bloodlines and other kinds of jutsu find their roots in Yin or Yang Release. While you can not use Yin or Yang Release to replicate these types of jutsu exactly, they serve as good examples when creating your Yin, Yang, or Yin-Yang Release techniques.
• You can only obtain Yin and Yang Release via the religion profession, from Daoism. (May Change)
• After obtaining Yin and Yang Release from Daoism you may make a Personal Attribute granting you Yin-Yang Release. This is not considered to use your limited +1 Elemental Nature Personal Attribute.
• Once you have access to Yin and Yang Release any customs you make may utilize the release within reason. This simply means you are not limited to the 5 Yin Customs and 5 Yang Customs granted by Daoism. If you have another 8 Custom Points you can use those custom points to make Yin or Yang Customs.
• Yin Release uses Chakra exclusively to reflect the idea of Yin Release using Spiritual Energy.
• Yang Release uses Stamina exclusively to reflect the idea of Yang Release using Physical Energy, however depending on the nature of the technique these techniques may be considered Complex despite this.
• Yin-Yang Release uses both Chakra and Stamina, however is not considered complex. Often times should require the full cost of Chakra and Stamina as the rank of the technique, and be Spiritual.
• Genjutsu, Ketsuryugan, Yamanaka, and Miyamoto are a good examples of jutsu types rooted in Yin Release.
• Akimichi, Junsei, Akuryo, Inuzuka, and Kemono Shinzo are good examples of jutsu types rooted in Yang Release.
