The Turtles are among the oldest summons in the ninja world, having long resided in the remote Lake of Loka. Tracing their lineage back through the ages is, in many cases, impossible even for the inhabitants of the lake; perhaps not in small part, thanks to their love of simply floating in the waters that are said to be a portal between planes of existence. Though called turtles, the summons of the Turtle contract and its sage answer ultimately to the Millennial Tortoise, the sole inhabitant of the lake's central island. Unmoving and possessing the elder summons' trademark stoicism, the Millennial Tortoise rules over the domain with an unwritten knowledge unmatched by any other mortal being in the ninja world. It should come as no surprise, then, that the Turtles appear in centuries-old text mostly unchanged. Aiding in identifying the often ancient creatures is their tradition of warpaint, unique designs on each of the summons' massive shells that harken back to their unknown past.
Way of the Turtle: Above all the turtles value a slow approach to life. Those sages who seek the path of the turtle are often the very same who seek to slowly wear away at their opponents and use their overwhelming defense as a means to accomplish this task. While in their sage mode, at any time, they may summon a translucent turtle shell (or if the userโs wishes, a turtle shell may rapidly grow around their body that they can retract into) around their bodies for a D ranked amount of chakra. Despite itโs activation costs this ability can be treated as something similar to a โdefensive shushinโ in that it is a free block against any attack regardless of itโs recourse cost. This ability is paid for fully in nature chakra and only useable three times in a single battle.

โฐโฐโฐ Minn Rank D | Chakra: 250 | Stamina: 250 Str: 0 | Spd: 0 | Agi: 0 | End: 6 Minn is a box turtle about the size of a large dog with a crimson red shell, each plate of which is marked by tiny red histograms. Of all the turtles, Minn is the most enthusiastic about combat, and easily the most mobile on land thanks to his size. Young, he lacks his brethren's calm nature, preferring to rush into battle alongside a high energy fighter than sit back on his laurels. As such his selection of jutsu skews decidedly towards the offensive, favoring physical attacks over the mostly elemental offerings of his fellow turtles.
Ability:Turtle Armor Transformation Minn's special ability allows him to transform into set of medium turtle-shell armor that provides its defense at no stamina cost to the wearer. Since this ability is based around a transformation, Minn becomes unable to act while in his turtle armor form. Likewise, though it can absorb hits before Minn's transformation breaks, the ability also ceases to be active when interfered with as any other transformation would.
โฐ Turtle Tornado | Rank D | Cost: Stamina Minn begins spinning at a rapid rate, such that he seems to begin floating. He then starts moving about the battlefield, bouncing off anything he comes in contact with. Enemies hit by Minn take no damage but instead are knocked 40 feet into the air causing potential damage on the way down. Minn can maintain this state for 3 posts before being overcome by dizziness and stopping.
โฐ Turtle Canon | Rank D | Cost: Complex Minn tucks its head back in its shell, gathering chakra to create a ball of rock. This ball of rock forms where its head used to be, and is about the size of a soccer ball, however it is loosely packed. The turtle then rapidly pushes its head back out, launching its attack at a target within about 50ft of it. On impact, the rocky ball of material will come apart, transferring enough energy to cause bruising and knock opponents off their feet. Unfortunately, due to method used to create the ball and its loose packed form, it is unlikely to break bones or cause other serious injury unless its target get rather unlucky.
โฐ Shell Cestus | Rank C | Cost: Chakra Minn transforms into a pair of turtle shell cestus, drawing on his shape changing abilities to buff the strength of his summoner's strikes. This technique grants a [1] point buff to the user's strength when throwing punches, or otherwise striking with their fist. Kicks and strikes using weapons as the primary focus of an attack will gain no buff from this technique. This technique persists for 4 posts, before Minn must pay the cost again.
โฐโฐโฐ Minogame Rank C | Chakra: 500 | Stamina: 250 Str: 0 | Spd: 0 | Agi: 0 | End: 8 A greenish-blue sea-turtle that is about the size of a dog, Minogame is the most at home of the Turtle summons in the water. She's the most friendly of the turtles, preferring inquisitive truth-seeking over combat, but not lacking in capability when asked to assist. A relatively young summon, Minogame lacks the legendary tales associated with her, though if it does anything but motivate her more she never shows it. Her specialty lies in manipulation of the currents, as evidence by the whirlpool patterns on her shell, and sports a set of jutsu to match.
Ability:Turtle Propulsion When in the water, Minogame's primary ability is that of controlling the tides, and water propulsion. She is capable of pushing water around her in such a way that she moves through the water as if she had 4 Speed. However in conjunction with her summoner, she may pull her hind legs and tail into her shell and expel water from them free of cost, and latch to the summoner's back. This allows the summoner to user her almost as if she were a jet-pack of sorts. Affording them an additional 4 Speed, and a really cool way to fly around, or just move quickly through water preferably in Minogame's opinion.
โฐ Wild Whirlpool | Rank C | Cost: Chakra Minogame channels chakra into into a body of water in which she currently resides. This creates a whirlpool nearby, which can extend up to 100ft in diameter. The whirlpool will suck in anyone who touches it, dragging them down to its depths and battering them on the way down. Capable of breaking bones if someone lands in it awkwardly, the whirlpool would easily leave someone bruised and even bloody - provided they don't just drown instead.
โฐ Flying Water Spear | Rank C | Cost: Complex Minogame spins rapidly, gathering water around her into a spear shape. She then uses her movement abilities to fling herself at an opponent. The spinning motion of the water creates a ripping effect, and the turtle inside of it follows through with a heavy headbutt afterwards. This technique is treated as a complex taijutsu for the purposes of jutsu clashes, and costs 10 less chakra if Minogame starts it in a water source of some kind.
โฐ Habitat Creation | Rank B | Cost: Chakra Minogame creates a massive bubble of water up to 150ft in diameter that follows her around the battlefield, keeping the giant sea-turtle at its center and allowing her to take advantage of her movement buffs away from a major body of water. Enemies captured inside it will find themselves trapped by its strong currents (B rank in strength), while summoners will find it a useful source of water for Suiton techniques. The bubble will last as long as the summoner wishes, but drains an additional 20 chakra in upkeep per post after initial creation.
โฐโฐโฐ Morla Rank B | Chakra: 750 | Stamina: 300 Str: 6 | Spd: 2 | Agi: 0 | End: 8 An older snapping turtle the size of a small building, Morla's a seemingly lazy addition to the Turtle summoning contract. Don't let that fool you into thinking she can't carry her own weight, however, as few animals in the ninja world can chomp down harder than her pointed beak. Her lackadaisical mannerisms disguise an exceptional amount of persistence that makes her a favorite of summoners that wish to grind down their enemies and control the flow of fights. She's defined by a large, greenish black shell with large spiky protrusions anointed by a brighter shade of green.
Ability:Defense Breaker While in the field, Morla allows her summoner to channel the spirit of the snapping turtle. They gain the ability to degrade armor by two ranks through any physical attack as opposed to just one.
โฐ Earth Wedge | Rank B | Cost: Chakra Morla slams down both of her front feet, sending chakra into the ground in front of her. The shockwave of chakra travels out from where her feet hit the ground, up to 100ft in any direction, and creates a wedge of doton that drives up, destroying same rank barriers and defenses made of anything but Raiton. The barrier also penetrates defenses of a higher rank, but requires double the normal 1 post duration of this technique to complete the process at a cost of 40 chakra a post. Note that, while this technique is exceptional at cracking through a defense, it does so through consistent force, and not speed, meaning most capable shinobi will find it easy to avoid getting hit, and take little damage (any non-defenses take half damage) while they are in contact with it so long as they're not pinned between the wedge and another surface.
โฐ Carapace Counter | Rank B | Cost: Stamina Morla counters a physical attack that hits her shell with a slam of her own. This process reflects the force of the attack A rank or below, countered back at its user, disrupting any defensive techniques present and damaging armor if it lands successfully. Aside from these effects, however, the attack cannot cause harm. Its ability to strip away defenses and ensure future damage makes it valuable despite its lack of offensive force.
โฐ Barrier Disruption | Rank A | Cost: Chakra Morla stomps a foot and projects a 75ft diameter bubble. Any parts of defenses inside the barrier of Rank A or lower crumble immediately. This bubble also prevents new defensive techniques from being used within it, including armoring techniques and the summoner's own jutsu. This bubble is fixed once created and cannot be interacted with in any way, besides it's destruction. The bubble will pop on it's own after 3 posts.
โฐโฐโฐ Om Rank A | Chakra: 1000 | Stamina: 400 Str: 8 | Spd: 4 | Agi: 2 | End: 8 Om is a giant Carbonemys turtle, measuring half as large as Genbu, and sporting a large, shielded shell. Comparative to the other turtles, he's relatively high-spirited, grumping and grumbling actively about the tasks assigned to him by both summoners and his superiors. While seeming to actively resist cooperation, Om rarely if ever disobeys orders. Fiery, grouchy attitude aside, the ornery turtle has earned a reputation for being one of the most steadfast of The Lake of Loka's inhabitants. Om's burnt orange / light brown shell is ringed around its edge with crimson, and emblazoned with the kanji for resilience (ๅผพๅๆง).
Ability:Determined Defense While in the field, Om bolsters the summoner's defensive jutsu, channeling nature chakra into defensive techniques used by its summoner. This surge of energy prevents the summoner's defensive techniques from being subject to negative effects being applied, such as being treated a rank lower by an opposing technique.
โฐ Convene | Rank A - Training | Cost: Varies Om trains with his summoner to korobo a defensive jutsu of some kind. This training requires Om to be both taught the jutsu and then trained in koroboing it alongside the summoner. Standard korobo rules apply, and this training may only be done with one technique from the summoner's arsenal, as Om is too stubborn to put up with being taught by his contract signers for any longer than this process requires. Essentially this ability takes the place of a defensive jutsu on the user's list after korabo training and allows the turtle to cast a copy and korabo that copy with it's summoner.
โฐ Shell Projection | Rank A | Cost: Chakra Om projects an up to 150ft diameter chakra version of its shell that works a little different than most barriers in the ninja world. This defensive jutsu draws on nature chakra, creating a dome of chakra that is nearly impervious to any single ninjutsu, capable of stopping all but S+ Rank jutsu and requiring strikes from multiple jutsu. This is thanks in part to its ability to regenerate, fixing itself if not sufficiently damaged. S+ rank ninjutsu will completely overwhelm the barrier, ignoring it entirely. S rank ninjutsu will break the barrier completely, but be stopped in the process. A rank jutsu require 2 hits to disable the barrier, and the amount of jutsu required to destroy the barrier subsequently doubles every rank lower. If the barrier is damaged, but not destroyed, any full cycle of the post order that sees it go un-attacked by enemies will cause this process to reset. The trade off to this ninjutsu stopping prowess is a short lifespan of only 4 posts and a complete inability to stop bukijutsu and taijutsu, as the barrier can simply be walked through by enemies.
โฐ Shell Game | Rank S | Cost: Chakra Om creates up to 8 doton replications of his shell on the battlefield. His summoner and any nearby allied shinobi may enter these shells at will, transporting themselves to any other unoccupied shell once they are inside. This is facilitated by something similar to Hidden Earth: Instantaneous Body Skill with those inside and outside of the shells unable physically notice the movement. This technique persists for up to 8 posts, but each shell may be destroyed with just a B rank amount of chakra, and each removed shell naturally decreases the amount of shells the users of this technique can move to. If all shells are occupied, shinobi can swap places only if they choose each other's shell as their desired destination.
โฐโฐโฐ Genbu Rank S | Chakra: 1300 | Stamina: 500 Str: 8 | Spd: 2 | Agi: 0 | End: 10 The mighty Black Turtle, Genbu is easily the largest of all the Boss summons currently prevalent in the ninja world, with a size that is about one and a half bijuu, comparable to a small mountain. Unlike his boisterous distant cousin, Genbu rarely speaks unless specifically summoned to discuss something. Few can even attempt to move the massive reptile, so no one knows whether or not this stoic attitude is the result of stubbornness or simply a facet of his excessive size. A master of unique Doton jutsu, Genbu excels at changing the terrain of a battlefield. Legend has it that Genbu himself raised the many islands of the sea so that he could rest during his trips in their waters. His shiny obsidian shell is marked by flat, coal grey paint that accents its points.
Ability:Island of the Turtle Hermit Genbu is an extremely large being, he doesn't move particularly fast or much as all in fact. This is especially true while outside of the water, though in water as he is a turtle he does have a bit of speed to him. Genbu takes full advantage of his size when fighting alongside his summoner, using his unique doton in order to effectively turn himself into a small island in the water or a small mountain on land. His head is pulled into it's shell and his legs plant themselves into the ground allowing the large best to be directly connected to to earth. If in the water earth from below will be pulled up to meet his legs. While in this form, Genbu is completely stationary, and thus unable to use any jutsu or action that requires him to move. However Genbu gathers Nature Chakra while in this form, and transfers the nature chakra to directly to his summoner if they are fighting atop him. This can only be done once a post, using Genbu's activation, and gathers 225 Nature Chakra for his summoner. Genbu can keep such a feat up for extremely long periods of time, often finding that most battles end before he needs to pulls himself out of the ground or water. Genbu is not invulnerable in this state, however he does seem to experience very little pain and suffering from the battle occurring atop him.
โฐ Quaking Stomp | Rank S | Cost: Chakra Genbu rears up on his hind legs, gathering chakra in his front feet and slamming them down on the ground. This stomp immediately causes three massive fissures to extend from in front of him, and shakes the ground violently in the process. Each fissure is large enough to swallow an entire shinobi team, roughly 30ft from side to side and 60ft deep. The shaking from this technique is enough to knockdown anyone with feet on the ground, requiring an activation be spent before standing again. The duration of Genbu stomps for 1 post and can reach up to 250ft away. This includes the summoner and other summons of any contract. While indiscriminate, the technique possesses the force necessary to completely stop whole battles, and proper use has seen defenses crumble in its wake.
โฐ Turtle Hermit's Revenge | Rank S+ | Cost: Chakra A Korabo jutsu between summon and summoner, the pair each pays half of this technique's cost. The summoner begins this technique by positioning themselves on Genbu's back, performing the necessary handsigns, and then slamming their open palms down onto the turtle's shell. Their skin begins to shift to a tortoise shell pattern matching Genbu's obsidian/onyx and both Genbu and the summoner begin growing small barbs across their whole body. The barbs are short and jagged, but provide little protection as they do not cause any physical damage outside of minor cuts. They do, however, have a habit of leaving little bits of themselves in anyone who contacts them. The pieces left behind by this technique are infused with the turtles' nature chakra and will immediately begin the [Nature Perification] status found in the sage system. Additional contact with this jutsu do NOT increase the rate of petrification. This process can be stopped by either the summoner repeating the handsigns they performed to initiate this jutsu, or by the medical technique used to treat natural perification.
__ After journeying on her ship from Gimangakure she finally arrived in the sagelands. She traveled to the remote Lake Loka while staring at her map. She got lost on the trail quite a few times and needed to refer to her compass. Eventually, the young woman walked through the tall treeline to find the mythical lake before her. She placed her bag on the land before wading into the lake. "Lake Loka, they say it's a portal to another plane of existence. Its waters are unlike any other. Still, I'm n-nervous about your visit here. Genbu may well deny your contract." Isobu spoke up to Kagami internally. "You're such a worrywart! As I said, turtles have always been good to me. Don't get jealous, you'll always be the main turtle in my life!"
She reassured her bijuu and partner in crime. She began swimming through the lake before laying on her back to relax in the lake's center. She stared up at the mist above her and inhaled the pleasant fragrance of the pine trees around. "Exactly, because you're a jinchuuriki you can't become a sage." Isobu advised and cautioned. "I know that, but that won't stop me from trying to become a summoner. I might need their backup sooner rather than later." She responded to Isobu until she suddenly felt herself being lifted up.
She felt something on her back and she looked down to notice a blue and green turtle with whirlpool markings. The turtle who lifted her up using her shell was about the size of a horse. Kagami turned around to sit up on the back of the shell. "You must be Minogame. It's nice to meet you." Kagami said to the sea turtle with a friendly smile. "You know my name? That's wonderful! It's great to meet you too, what's your name?" The friendly turtle responded to the greeting with her own. "I'm Kagami Hari, the jinchuuriki of Isobu." She strategically included that piece of information.
Minogame responded with a surprised expression as she tilted her head up to Kagami who was riding on her back. "I've never met Isobu, but I know he's a very powerful turtle! I'm surprised you know my name at all, I'm the least famous turtle in this lake." Minogame spoke with a happy sense of confusion and curiosity. "I did my research before traveling here. I hope to sign a contract." Kagami smiled and was acting much more openly and amicably than usual. "Well, I wish you luck! Genbu's not too talkative and he's very hard to impress." The turtle warned as she quickly swam through the lake with Kagami riding on top of her shell. "I'll try to introduce you to everybody!" The kind turtle said as she swam about trying to locate her friends.
The first turtle she found was relaxing on land. Kagami waved at the box turtle who was smaller than Minogame. "Hi there! Is your name Minn? I'm Kagami Hari." She politely introduced herself from the top of Minogame's shell. "Are you here to sign a contract with us? I haven't heard from Sanae in ages and I'm dying for a good fight!" The smallest turtle in the Loka Lake hopped up and stood proudly. Kagami giggled out her response. "I get into plenty of fights that you could help me with. Nice meeting you!" She said before waving goodbye and riding Minogame toward the next turtle. Minn decided to follow them.
Now it was time to visit Morla. Minogame swam up close to the shore as Kagami examined her. The reptile was the size of a small building with a spiky greenish black shell. Her most distinctive feature, however, was her large chomping beak. "Good morning, Morla!" Kagami yelled out before introducing herself. "I'm Kagami Hari." The giant snapping turtle's eyes slowly opened with a lazy facial expression. "Hello, Kagami Hari." Morla spoke very slowly and tiredly. Minogame smiled at Morla before Morla fell asleep again. Minogame then swam away from Morla's favorite spot to rest.
Morla did not follow but Minn stayed close in tow as Minogame led Kagami to the penultimate turtle, Om. It was easy to see him on the approach from practically a mile away. Her jaw dropped when she witnessed his size and his incredible shielded shell. The fact that this enormous turtle was only half the size of the boss was also concerning. He was floating around in the water at the other end of the lake when they discovered him. "Are you Om? I'm Kagami Hari." She spoke to the turtle with some hesitation when she remembered how stubborn his personality was described as in the lore of Lake Loka. "Yes, that's me. What're you doing here, human?" The massive Carbonemys grumbled out. "I'm hoping to sign a contract as a new summoner." The massive turtle grunted loudly when he heard her response. "Yeah, yeah, I know, as always. Leave me in peace!" The grouchy turtle responded as Minogame took Kagami away. "Don't worry, he'll come around eventually." Minogame said comforting the turtle summoner candidate.
Now it was time to meet the boss of the entirety of Lake Loka. Minogame swam swiftly towards the island in the center of the lake. Kagami was very excited because she was certain that he was the one who would assign the contract. "Is he on the island?" Kagami asked inquisitively as they began to near it. Minogame chortled at the question."Dear, he is the island." Minogame responded before stopping in front of the island. Suddenly, the massive turtle rose from the water. Waves were caused that spread over the entire lake. Minogame was able to manipulate the water around her to keep from being blasted away with Kagami. The turtle was enormous with a black shell and stood at a massive height. Her jaw dropped as she took in the size of the creature. "Don't be shy!" Minogame jested at Kagami. "Genbu, I, Kagami Hari, the jinchuuriki of mighty Isobu, wish to sign a contract with the turtles of Lake Loka." Kagami was formal and confident in her declaration.
The stoic turtle looked down at Kagami as she announced who she was and what her intentions were. "You will not be given our contract to hold, Jinchuuriki, but you can sign the contract if we deem you worthy." He spoke concisely but his voice was booming and mighty. Kagami would immediately reply. "I am worthy of being a summoner." Kagami's tone was very self-assured. "Yes, you are powerful indeed, but so was Sanae, the former Uzukage. We have revoked her sage status so she cannot deem you worthy. You must pass our test." Genbu then assigned Kagami her test of worthiness...

__ Kagami passed their test and Genbu deemed her worthy. Minn and Minogami cheered at Kagami's success. Genbu presented her with the contract scroll. Kagami used a kunai to cut her right hand. She placed her left index finger in the blood from her right hand and signed with her left hand. She put her signature in blood as "Kagami Hari" beneath Sanae's name. Despite losing her status as sage, she was still on the contract. Kagami was not the sage, but she would be a summoner. Once the contract was signed Genbu took it back and bid Kagami farewell by sinking below the water. Minogame then returned Kagami to where she entered. Kagami smiled and gave a pleasant wave goodbye to her new turtle friends before leaving the area. "Now I have my turtle army." The devious woman reveled at her new potent source of power.

Sumiko could feel the air changing as she made her way along the long forgotten path. Very few people ventured out this far anymore. The signs of humans had vanished some time ago on the trail. This was the old wood. The kind of place that writers say are filled with mythical beasts and horrific monsters. It was actually these very beasts that Sumiko was seeking. She of course knew that these beasts weren't quite as dangerous and fanciful as the tales written about them however. Her Aunt had after all been Sanae, the previous Turtle Sage. It also only seemed natural that with Sanae's disappearance she should seek out the Turtles for their wisdom, and possibly take Sanae's place in the process.
Slowly, the path began to creep upwards to the rim of a small ridge. This part seemed to last forever, but with each step, the sounds and smells of water began to grow stronger. After a good hour, Sumiko finally reached its crest and was greeted with her first view of the lake. It was massive, bigger than the entire village back home. Islands filled its interior and it almost seemed like a few of them were moving. Sumiko convinced herself that this was just a trick of the light and her being tired from the climb. Gradually, she made her way down the other side of the ridge towards the water line. It became obvious very quickly that the lake and trees nearby were teeming with life. Birds of every color flew overhead and small critters dashed across the overgrown trail.
At last, Sumiko reached the water and almost fell in when she was startled by a voice next to her. She looked over to see what she thought was an ordinary box turtle. It raised it's head and stared at her intently. "Ahem, I'll repeat myself since you seemed so startled. Why are you here? And better yet, Who are you?" Sumiko was still partially in shock. She knew that some animals could talk, but she never expected them to be so fluent and so ready to talk with her. She had expected grueling trials for them to even acknowledge her. Sumiko touched her chest, motioning to herself. "I am Sumiko Uzumaki of the Hidden Whirlpool Village and I am seeking the turtle of Lake Loka. Sumiko quick bowed at the waist to the turtle in a sign of respect.
Upon hearing and seeing Sumiko bow, Minn could not help but laugh. "Bahahaha, you don't need to bow to me. You can call me Minn. I am one of the younger turtles here. Pleasure to meet you. And as for San, no one has seen her for months here. Or maybe even years. You do look a lot like her though. Definitely related. Hopefully you didn't inherit the temper to match." Minn's answer was not very reassuring to Sumiko but at least he seemed to be helpful and friendly. "Well, that doesn't sound too good. Still, a pleasure to meet you Minn. You wouldn't mind showing me around would you? This place is kinda big."
Nodding, Minn slipped into the water of the lake, slowly drifting along using the current. Sumiko wadded into the water, grabbing onto his shell so he could pull her along. She rubbed the surface of his shell as the pair moved through the lake. Even thought he said he was young, his shell still seemed to be decades old at least and was worn down with scratches and scrapes. It seemed quickly apparent as they swam that they were being followed. Before Sumiko could tell Minn this, the other turtle quickly swam up next to the pair. this one was easily three times the size of Minn. Despite this sudden appearance, Minn did not seem to worry.
"Ah, Minogame, I was wondering where you were." The other turtle seemed to laugh at this as they all slowed down in the middle of the lake. "You should know better than anyone Minn that I prefer the water. Walking on land is slow and tiring." The much larger turtle then turned her attention to Sumiko. Before Sumiko could speak, the larger turtle cut her off. "Hello, I am Minogame. If Minn let you come this far, you must not mean us any harm. And I can guess from your appearance that you are from the Whirlpool Village judging by your headband and you absolutely have to be related to Sanae." The turtle was spot on. Sumiko was left almost speechless. She knew they were old and wise but to tell all that from a simple glance was something else entirely. "Happy to meet you Minogame. You are right on both counts too. I am Sumiko Uzumaki. Do you perchance know where Sanae is since it seems like you met her?" Minogame seemed to look around, as if she was searching in thin air for an answer. After what seemed like an entire minute before she shook her head. "No. I don't think I have seen her for quite some time. Another woman was here not to long ago, but she was different. Perhaps Morla will know. She isn't far. You can also sit on my back if you don't wish to stay soaked."
Minogame, with Sumiko now safely on her back, took off at a great speed across the lake. In the distance, Sumiko could see Minn fading away as he returned to the shoreline to rest. The pair sped across the surface of the water, barely disturbing it, leaving a faint wake behind them. They were coming up on one of the large islands in the middle of the lake now. The water was much calmer here and very few birds seemed to fly overhead. It was quiet here. Even the air just felt... old.
Minogame gently swam up to the beach, inching her way onto dry land. The beach seemed to be deserted until Sumiko realized what she thought was a massive boulder was actually a turtle. She came to this realization when she heard its snoring pierce the quiet atmosphere of the island. Minogame continued up the beach at a much greater pace now, ramming the side of the much larger turtle. "Wake up Morla, we have company." In reponse, Morla seemed to let out a grunt before going back to sleep. Minogame let out a long and protracted sigh as she began to wade back into the water. "She can uh, be a little lazy but that's Morla. Don't let the act fool you though since she was probably awake the entire time. Now its off to Om I guess." Sumiko nodded and held on as the pair once again took off across the water, gliding further into its interior.
A thick fog was beginning to form on the surface of the water the deeper they pair made it into the lake. Through the mist, Sumiko saw what appeared like an island appearing right in front of them. Minogane swam right up to it, stopping just short of going ashore. Just as Sumiko was about to speak, she noticed that it was in fact a large turtle next to them. Even through the fog, Sumiko could see its dull eyes staring back at her. Minogame nodded her head to motion. "Sumiko, meet Om. We like to call him the old man. He's been here almost longer than anyone else." Sumiko stood up on Minogame's back, cupping her hands over her mouth to yell. color=#D94157]"Nice to meet you Om-sama. Have you seen Lady Sanae lately." The large turtle shook his head side to side almost instantly causing large waves to form all over, causing Minogame to sway side to side as well. He opened his large mouth to speak in a raspy voice. "Can't say I've seen her in years. But no one seems to visit me. Now go. I have other things to do small one." Om turned and began to slip beneath the surface of the water before Sumiko could ask him more questions. Minogame was quick to chime in. "He's usually not mean. He's just old. He doesn't try to be like that."
"I guess we can go to Genbu now. He may have the most answers. He also has the summoning scroll with him." Sumiko nodded as the pair moved on. "I hope so too."The fog that had developed slowly began to fade away. The scattered islands of the lake seemed to begin to thin out as well as they approached what looked like a barren island made of obsidian. Sumiko laid down on Minogame's shell and inched closer to her head. "How close are we to Genbu?"Sumiko asked curiously.
Minogame began to slow up in response. "This black mass in front of us is Genbu. You didn't think Om was really the biggest of us did you? Legends say that some were even bigger than Genbu once." Sumiko sat straight up upon hearing this. She stared, mouth handing wide open. What Minogame had said was true. This shape was moving through the water, coming straight at them. Sumiko had simply assumed that Minogame had sped up once they left Om but if anything, she was almost standing still. The massive turtle titan slowed as it reached them, lifting his massive head out of the water. "You come seeking Sanae and to stamp your own mark upon the summoning contract do you not? Do not act so surprised that I know almost everything that happens on my lake." Sumiko got on her knees and bent forward at her waist, bowing to Genbu. "Does that mean you know where she is?"Sumiko asked hopeful that he would know the answer. "Alas, I do not, but that is not the only reason you have come child of the Uzumaki." As he spoke, another turtle appeared next to them, a scroll sitting on top of his shell. "I have watched you since the moment you arrived. You are pure in your intentions and carry the same blood as our previous sage. For these reasons, I will allow you to become the new holder of our contract. Guard it well." Sumiko grabbed the scroll, unrolling it slowly on Minogame's back. She ran her hand of the names of the previous contract holders. She paused as her hand reached Sanae. She continued unrolling it to sign below Sanae and paused when she saw another name was already there. Kagami Hari. She would need to seek this person out.
Sumiko opened her mouth, biting down on her thumb hard, just enough to break the skin. She traced her name out below Kagami's name and stamped her bloody hand print at the end. With the signing complete, she rolled up and scroll and thanked Genbu as Minogame returned her to the shoreline. Sumiko stepped onto dry land, her next objective unclear. Perhaps she would need to learn more about this Kagami.

__ Upon arriving at Lake Loka with Obei she immediately jumped into the clear waters. She laid on her back and floated to the top and was completely at ease. After several minutes she felt her worries and fears melt away. Kagami also felt a massive sense of accomplishment. She would not rest here for long, however, the world would need its revolutionary leader back soon. After all, her job was only half over as Kogarashi still needed to finish off Arashigakure. She lifted her head and looked at Obei with a friendly smile. "Do you want to swim with me, Obei?" Kagami would now put all of that business from before behind her while in the turtle lands.

Obei arrived alongside the leader of their group, softly shrinking down back to her 7'2" self in the process among other things. Her mind was still at ease thanks to the genjutsu that Kagami had cast upon her (that she had very little knowledge of what she did) and was in a far more enjoyable mood than before. Kagami would find herself floating in the large body of water, presumably to relax after the little bit of carnage that the group had cast when the village had been totally destroyed. The oni opted to stay on land as she had never really learned to swim before. Living in the mountains without much of a body of water large enough to practice did that to a person. When it came time for her to be invited to join her however, Obei would nod slowly and removed her gauntlets as both would fall to the ground. Her icy blue hands would be freed, the ethereal glow emanating from them almost inhuman in a way. With the heaviest of objects off, she simply walked in the water until her chest was just touching the surface.
"Where are we, Kah-Gah-Mi? Is nice place. Very nice." she asked curiously while her snow white strands of hair would flow outwards in the lake. She eventually reached Kagami and swam out to her though careful not to accidentally brush her with her hands. Didn't want to accidentally freeze the leader of Kogarashi.
"Obei not swim before. It hard. Very hard."

__ Kagami enjoyed her buoyancy and smiled as Obei waded her way through the lake. She spoke up to answer Obei's question. "This is Lake Loka, the home of the turtles. Since I'm a turtle summoner, I'm free to come here whenever it suits me." She did a few backward swan strokes around Obei before relaxing again. This time she placed her hand on her stomach and smiled before speaking to Obei again. "But you're learning so fast!" This was in response to Obei saying that swimming was hard, yet it was so instinctual for the sanbi jinchuuriki. She then looked at the clouds before letting out a sigh of longing. "I'm missing my husband, Obei. I...we have much to discuss." She was leisurely enjoying the water and began swimming around casually. Kagami continued to enjoy the feeling of the slightly cool water on her skin. Eventually, she shook her yearning feeling off and changed the subject. "Have you ever swam before?" It was clear to Kagami that Obei was no swimming aficionado but seemed to be having fun. Suddenly, Kagami threw a lighthearted splash her way.

"Lake Lo-Kah." Obei repeated and then began to crane her head around, on the hunt for turtles. She had always found them rather cute, especially the old ones. The wrinkles and huge shells helped make her feel a bit more normal sized, which was saying something for being a towering figure. Kagami would wade around her while the large armed girl would do her best to remain afloat. Her words of encouragement were accepted though Obei wasn't exactly the type to be buying waterfront property any time soon. She listened as the leader spoke. Missing her husband and needing to try and regroup with the other Kogarashi members, wherever in this wild world they were.
"No. No water in mountain. When Obei little, Obei smaller. Very smaller. Took bath in springs." The memories of being bathed by the women in white flooded back in her mind. The child oni, no bigger than an average human child. Her mother would scrub her clean while humming one of those lovely songs and sometimes even played with her there. A splash snapped her mind out of the past as Kagami splashed her, drenching the top of her head down. The oni looked at her and for once, the stoic face would chip away as the woman began to laugh. Her mouth shaped in a half crescent moon shape. While splashing back was an option, it would be a bit unfair to use her much larger hands and send a wave back at her. So Obei improvised.
She took a deep breath and submerged underwater, leaving only her blackened horn at the top to display her location. she swam her way to Kagami and playfully reached out with her right arm and attempted to yank her underwater. In this process, she diverted the majority of the chakra in that hand elsewhere to not chill her to the point of pain, but a nice cold chill instead. If successful, the oni would pull her closer before settling her on top of her massive frame, piggy back style.

__ Kagami slowly allowed the chakra that invaded Obei's brain to increase her compliance and annihilate her guilt to fade. As Obei returned her splash Kagami giggled and landed on Obei's back with a smile. She wrapped her arms loosely around the giantess' neck to hold on. "Do you want to swim fast, Obei?" A playfully mischievous grin crossed over Kagami's face. Before Obei could respond, Kagami used her water abilities as Isobu's jinchuuriki to spin the water behind them. They would then jet quickly around the lake and Kagami held onto Obei tightly. Their heads were still above the surface as Kagami manipulated the faster water jet. "Wooooo!" She cheered as they continued their quick laps around the massive lake.

Swimming fast? The question of how the hell she would do that almost came to leave the Oni's mouth but faded shortly after. Kagami worked in mysterious ways. She felt a blast of water behind them before Obei found herself being propelled forward at fast speeds. The oni felt Kagami's hands around her pale and cold body, sending enough heat there to make it feel warm for a change. "Obei go fast! Very fast!" She called out while her body would make lap after lap after lap of the lake. The number of rotations blurred in her mind until Kagami would decide to end the speed as they puttered down before standing still.
"A-Ah...Very dizzy. Obei like Kah-Gah-Mi on back. Feel nice. Very nice." The female held her head and tried to get her equilibrium straight. After a while, her hands fell on Kagamni and carefully waded back closer to the shore that held her gauntlets. "Obei feel better about village. Evil people. Will do best to help Koh-Gar-Rah-She."

__ Kagami giggled with Obei and enjoyed their time zooming around the lake. She slid off of Obei's back and walked toward the shore. The captivatingly beautiful enchantress began ringing the water out of her azure locks. She went over and sat on a rock on the shore and held a mirror in front of her face as she brushed her hair out. "You're absolutely right, Obei." Kagami affirmed Obei's point about the village being evil. She continued to work the knots out of her hair. "Kogarashi completely destroyed that village and nation. Now those people are free to start a new life." Uzushiogakure was an isolationist island state that trapped those people within their walls. It was completely despicable in Kagami's world view. "I was from Kirigakure and it was similar. An isolated village until the people couldn't take the oppression any longer and overthrew them. That village failed me and my family, but now I'm free. I want that freedom for everyone." It was clear that anarchy was the only answer to this problem. Kagami then looked at Obei and longingly in the distance after that. "Let's get out of here. I feel like I need a walk." With that, Kagami left the area and waved for Obei to follow.

Lake Loka. The location where it is said the islands of the worlds were birthed. The young Uchiha came here seeking something, maybe even someone. The mother had given her focus and clarity, and she moved at her own behest to solve a mystery neither Sanae or NaKya had ever given her a clear answer on. Secondary to all of that was the fact that Sanae had mysteriously disappeared, and the only lead she'd had any luck with was that Sanae was also one half of the former Genbu: the sage of the turtle contract. It wasn't hard to find her way here, as it was hardly a secret, but something weighed heavily on her as she departed from Masahiro's little peace of heaven. Whatever she expected from this, she definitely felt in over her head.
Fleet footed was the ninja, even as feet slammed into the trunk of a tree to propel forward. Hair blew in the wind, with eyes focused with the sharingan activated. Her body was hardly shocked when it cleared the treeline and rammed into the largest lake in the world like a harphoon. Immersed in the water, she allowed herself to slowly sink on the weight of her own momentum feeling herself becoming the center of attention. Deep chakra laced breaths filtered the water as quickly, something dashed around her. She watched, intrigued but unfettered as Shirogane approached, and craned her neck at it. "Minogame? You've actually grown!" she teased swimming closer to the tortoise as Minn came swimming over as well.
"Little Nava? Is that you? You smell different... entirely different. What happened to you?" Minn pressed immediately, to which Nava merely pat his head and smirked. The azure hues that formed her Sharingan told a story all it's own, before they spun back to normalcy, and she allowed Minogame to lead her down. "I can only assume that you know NaKya is dead?" The two turtles didn't seem especially surprised, but they betrayed their lack of interest. "Half of the Turtle and Snake? We had heard rumors from our cousins... but nothing solid. Condolences, Little Nava. I suppose that makes you the head of your people now?" Nava didn't immediately respond. "Succession skipped over Nataya mostly because she didn't want to responsbility. I sort of... ignored it myself for as long as I could." She no longer sounded ashamed to admit as much. No, now her voice was confident and honest. They were headed deep into the waters, probably to where the rest of the contract resided, and she could hardly say she wasn't excited to see Sanae's people again.
Which reminded her. "Have you all heard word from Sanae? She's been missing for half a decade. Uzu is no more, the leaf is back, and I've landed myself squarely amid all of the chaos and turmoil." Morla's body displaced the water and murk of darkness so much below them that her Sharingan was hardly necessary for her to catch it and stop for the massive turtle to rise and speak. "The former sage isn't us." she clarified in a booming, slow voice. as Om grunted, being risen from his slumber aside her. Nava waited for them to go on for long seconds. "She left, and she gave us back the contract when she went. Another came along, one bearing the great and mighty Isobu, but we have gone long without one to call us their partner besides.""Dammit. I came here hoping to locate her, and to clear the mystery of Hakkon." Minn seemed perturbed, coming close to her face, and chuckling. "The Turtle Titan? Oh, this is great. THIS IS GREAT!" As he rocketed around her, Nava heard a beckoning cry, and the whole of the lake went entirely dark, silent, and motionless. The stillness unsettled the woman, and when she turned, submerged in several stories of water, she was greeted by the face of an absolutely massive beast. This wasn't Hakkon, but it certainly carried the same dominating presence that legend fortold the dragon turtle once had.
"Oh, Genbu!" she exclaimed as the beast centered massive coral eyes on her tiny form. "How did you get here so... quietly." Titanic nostrils flared, and she realized that would go entirely unanswered. "Climb upon my head." the booming voice commanded, and Nava, never one to be intimidated, obeyed entirely out of fear. Not a fool, she knew which battles to take, and which to save. The second her form was above his, the monster of a turtle rose to the surface, so fast that Nava could hardly stand the water being thrust against her form. When they broke the surface, Nava could see the central island of the lake, and upon it the slumbering Millennial Tortoise. Nava leaped to shore, and looked Upon the half submerged Genbu. "You've come seeking answers we do not have to give you. However, you presence was foretold by the Millennium Tortoise. You have within you something great and terrible, a force that has changed you as it changed the White Snake once as well. Something that Ginda had worked to try and destroy, but ultimately failed." The typically impassive titan spoke with an unseen passion, and Nava felt compelled to listen.
"What you require to maintain your forward motion is an ally that can temper your mind's eyes, direct the fire of your heart and move you to do better. Tell me, is your interest in Hakkon novel?" Genbu inquired. The Millennium tortoise in all his glory was still aslumber, but she knew it wasn't without it's influence here. "I want to lay it to rest, whatever Kya's mission to defeat or capture it or whatever. She claimed it a failure, and never tried again. I want to know why." Genbu closed his eyes. "Would you deny us if we wanted to ally with you, Matani of the dead?" the mighty Genbu intoned.
Nava considered it no longer than five excruciatingly drawn out seconds. "No. I would honestly be honored to pick up the pieces Sanae left behind and make something out of it. But know, by joining me I will be holding you to the standards I holdthose whom I survey in the ninja world. Weakness and stagnancy will not be tolerated." Genbu snorted, and Nava was almost blown over by it, but stood her ground.
A scroll was carried to her by a small turtle, one she didn't recognize, and she sat on her knees, opening it and seeing the names from before, some in types and scripts she didn't recognize. Some less so... but nonetheless she bit through the skin of her thumb, extracting a small toll of blood, and signing herself as "Matani of the Dead - Nava Shouten Uchiha." "If you think, even for a second, that you won't simply be drowned if you try to take the tide too quickly and stagnate yourself, you are grandly mistaken. Now, cross your legs. I will teach you the skill you need to become the holder of our contract." [Contract Signed]
She did as was demanded of her, crossing her legs and holding the Tiger seal with her eyes closed. As her older sister had before her, Nava struggled deeply with even sitting still. Philosophically it didn't jibe very well with her to not be in some kind of motion. She was even a restless sleeper, on the best of nights. Still, with Genbu there, calming her with his breathing, forcing the waves to lap up against the shore as he swelled and shrank with his breathing. "You catch on quick. You've already begun the otherwise long and arduous process that takes others years to learn. Natural chakra will simply come to you with stillness of body."
Hours passed, but for Nava it felt like Eons as her body took this entirely welcome yet still foreign energy prevaded her body. It was a challenge she was well suited to handle once she got past the diametric opposition she encountered in that she needed to be still. Her own chakra was wild, like a blazing fire fed by the winds, but natural energy? It was a soothing, empowering energy. If anything could temper her, it was this experience becoming one with the universe she worshipped in her own way.
Her senses were always sharp like the blade's edge, piercing in how they picked out details. Her sharingan turned that fine point to a keen one, and let her see beyond mere mortal vision. Even still, she had truly been closed off from it all. Her mind didn't always turn to her god as Kya's had, but never had she felt closer to the will of Nagakaborous than she did now. It was like she could see through it all, above the smoke and mirrors of physical existence and deeper than the Yin of what reality couldn't explain. As she slapped the soul out of others to test them they often compared the feeling to being connected to everything, and thusly overwhelmed by the knowledge that their understanding and perceptions had failed them.
Focus and Clarity were paramount. The two sources of energy within her were hardly of a type that were cohesive. It was a war within her that she herself knew little of how to quell. Hunger struck her, hard, but meant little as she sustained on the challenge itself. Motion had taught her to swim against the tide. To find the Truth in all things, and in those lessons she had once upon a time styled herself as a God of Death. Far be it from a deity to be laid low by the energy of the universe and some hunger pains. No, this was her place, her right. She wanted this, and so she would take it like she did everything else.
It wasn't until two days had passed that her eyes opened anew. They were dark black now, a remnant of her teacher's influence over her and the power of the turtles under whom she now considered herself kin. Genbu nodded his head at last, having wondered if she would ever awaken again. When Nava stood, the contract rolled itself up and flipped up into her hands. "Thank you for this, Genbu. Sanae was strong, inspiring even, but with me as the holder of this contract... the shinobi world is in for a hell of an awakening. NOW. Let's go hunt down a dragon." she spoke slinging the scroll over her shoulder and leaping to the back of her newest ally.
