Sipping his coffee he watched Kieran prepare the last few ingredients in the batter before pouring them it on to the iron. He then went on to speak a little of his family. Oh, how he missed their cooking. He craved to go home one day but was a bit fearful of the repercussions. He knew that he was overstayed his welcome. But it wasn't as though he'd done it intentionally. He had heard the horror stories of people that were caught by immigration and the way they were treated. He didn't want something like that to happen as well. So as much as he was missing his family, it was safer to lie and say he'd simply moved to the states.
Jakob didn't mind the idea of eating a little more than usual. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't hungry. He was starving and delicious smell of the waffles wafting in the air was enough to make his own stomach grumble. Bringing the conversation back to the original question, he spoke simply. Jakob didn't require something big or fancy. That was probably one of the few things he enjoyed about American food, it could simplistic yet still tasty.
Turning the question back towards Kieran, he couldn't help to be a bit curious. They had talked about foods before but never in so much detail. It was nice. He listened as the male listed off a few dishes. The first sounded horrible to him aside from the cornbread. He wasn't that big a fan of chili, there was something between the smell and the texture that he had never been able to get over. "Those sound pretty good, except for the chili. I've never liked chili." he replied, making a face to show his distaste.
