While it was true Abel did scare him at times, he wouldn't take his s**t lying down. As scary as the man could be he was still human. Thus he saw no reason to give in to his behavior. From where he was sitting he was certain the man hated him for it. But then there were also glimmers of him liking it. He had to wonder if he was right in his earlier assumptions about he and Kieran being alike. Already he could think of one particular thing they shared. He also wondered if that was why he was initially attracted to them both. Whatever the reason he was sure he would never find out.
As he ate he soon turned to the man. He wouldn't say that he was tired of his staring. More like he was curious. It seemed odd that someone who claimed they were hungry would pay more attention to him rather than their own food. Perhaps it was something else. Turning his head towards Abel, Jakob offered to share his soup. The man merely shook his head and thanked him for the offer. Nodding quietly, he pulled the container back towards him. Picking up his drink, he sipped his water and went back to eating.
Not long after making his offer did Abel rise from his chair. From the corner of his eye he watched as the man grabbed his plate and cup as he then left the room. He listened to the soft footsteps as Abel made his way into the kitchen, the distant scrapping of his plate was almost deafening in the silent house. Swallowing again, he couldn't help feeling like somehow this was all his fault. What had he done now? Pouting, Jakob ate the remainder of food on his plate. He wouldn't be wasteful. Above him he heard movement, knowing he had gone back to his room.
A few minutes later, Jakob rose from the table as well. He picked up the now empty water bottle, soup container, and his plate. Nudging the chair back under the table with his hip he turned out the light and padded down the hall to the kitchen. As quietly as possible, he dropped his trash in the garbage and rinsed his plate in the sink. Picking up the spoons from the food containers, he washed them as well. After that he took the leftover boxers and padded towards the fridge. He cleared a spot big enough for the boxers and set it on the middle shelf. Closing the fridge he then turned out the kitchen light and went back to Kieran's room.

Eventually sleep would find him. Breathing in his boyfriends scent he imagined him here beside him with his arms around him and pressing a soft kiss to his temple. Jakob recalled their messages as well as other memories from their time before. He dreamed of the man's lips pressing into his own in a searing kiss. His skin was warm wherever the dream Kieran touched him. Jakob couldn't help moaning in his sleep. When morning came, he would awake. The dream ebbing away with each passing second.
His eyes opened slowly and he was a bit sad to see that he was alone. He laid there for a moment trying to cling to as much of the dream as he possibly could. It didn't work. Frustrated, he kicked back the covers and rose from Kieran's bed. Flipping over his phone the clock read eight-thirty. It was a tad later than he normally slept but he would overlook it this time. Seeing as he had no new messages, he left it on the night stand as he padded into the bathroom. Flicking the switch on the wall, Jakob took care of his morning needs. Once that was taken care of, he stripped down to nothing and turned the knobs of the shower. He didn't even wait for the water to warm up as he then stepped into cold water.
Jakob took his time bathing. He was in no rush with no where to go and nothing to do. He washed his hair and body slowly, lingering a little in-between washing. When he was done, he turned off the water, and stepped out on to the bathmat. He had forgotten to grab a towel from the closet so he allowed himself to drip a little before crossing the room to grab one. Jakob dried face and upper body before wrapping the towel around his waist. He then left the bathroom to go back into Kieran's room. His phone told him he had been in the shower for forty-five minutes. The stillness of the house told him that Abel was still asleep. That was fine. He didn't want to wake him anyway after recalling his reaction to the last time he woke him.
He dressed quietly, borrowing a pair of Kieran's boxers as well as one of his t-shirts. He would need to wash his own later. Opening the door, he crept out into the hall and made his way downstairs, and into the kitchen. Sunlight streamed in through the windows. Crossing over to the fridge he pulled out the box of leftover fried rice, rinsed off a spoon from the sink, and went into the living room to watch television while he ate.

It was getting late in the day. Kieran had spent the whole morning getting ready for his mother’s funeral. There had been very little guests. She knew a lot of people and yet no one would miss her. Kieran didn’t blame them yet he too didn’t understand why he even went. He wished he hadn’t, it seemed rather pathetic on his part. Kieran didn’t pretend well, after all it was hard to. The death of his mother wouldn’t bring peace. It was merely an end to his past.
The drive back home was a long one. He was looking forward to see Miguel. Kieran hadn’t spoken to him much in the last month. His texts from last night were probably the first he had sent. It wasn’t because he didn’t want to speak to Miguel, but he knew if he did, then he was likely to rush home. Call him a coward, but the thought of facing his fears was something he didn’t want.
Kieran hadn’t texted Miguel, he had told him he would be home soon. The drive from St. Louis to Chicago wasn’t far; only a few hours. Once he arrived back in Chicago, Kieran knew he needed to check in with Abel before going to find Miguel. He wasn’t sure if he would be home or working on something himself.
Pulling into the driveway, Kieran didn’t pull into the garage. After all he figured he would be leaving soon anyway, or so he hoped. He parked his car and turned it off. Kieran slipped out of the car and flicked the key fob on his car. He walked toward the front door unlocking it. Kieran slipped inside, shutting the door behind him. He heard the television on in the living room. It surprised him as Abel didn’t watch it much. Shutting the door behind him, he walked toward the living room.

The day ticked on slowly as he and Abel stayed in their separate corners of the house. He knew the man was annoyed with his work, but he didn't think it bothered him so much that he would isolate himself. Jakob spent most of the day of the couch. He finished the rice he had pulled from the fridge and helped himself to another bottle of water.
Sometime after one in the afternoon, he had gone upstairs to grab his phone as well as his clothes. He didn't ask permission, but that didn't stop him from using the washer and dryer either. Jakob spent a good ten minutes just locating the damn laundry room. Eventually he found it in the basement. Once that was taken care of, he climbed the stairs and went into the kitchen. He looked through the fridge, freezer and pantry before settling on making himself a sandwich. Taking a third bottle of water, he went back to the couch.
Hour after hour, the day continued. Jakob ate his lunch while watching episodes of Ghost Adventures. He checked his phone periodically, hoping that just maybe Kieran would text him again. But still, he heard nothing. When another episode ended he went downstairs to put his clothes in the dryer. He didn't linger too long down there as the memories of what Abel did to him were still clear. He all but ran back to the main landing.
When night started to fall, Jakob was bored and hungry. An hour prior he had whined to Abel about wanting dinner. He had been given an annoyed look in response and went back down to the living room. Curled up on the couch, he had left the television on a random channel while he played on his phone.
Outside he heard the sound of a car pulling up. But played it off as nothing. He had been hearing cars coming and going all day. Going back to his game, he didn't hear the lock click or even the door opening. Losing another round of the game, he groaned just as his stomach grumbled. He was thinking about ordering a pizza, but wasn't too sure about it. He didn't know what Abel liked and didn't want to hear him complain.
Hearing nearby footsteps, Jakob looked up from his phone. As the man came into the door frame he beamed. "Kieran!" he exclaimed. Jumping up from the couch, Jakob set his phone aside, and went to hug him. Reaching up, he wrapped his arms around his neck as he pulled him close.
