The insects -- also known to their summoners as the Kisoku-shou -- are among the world's most mysterious creatures, scarcely ever creeping beyond the enigma of the Hollow in which they dwell. The Kotobasa Hollow is, to its summoners, a place of wonder incomparable to any other; there are splendors and monuments still yet uncovered, with whole different biomes within the cave system rivaling the depth of a small nation. Within the Hollow, life flourishes, and so does death. Insects prey on one another, but all bow to the ones chosen by Yashul, the Centipede. Though Yashul himself is perhaps more quiet and enigmatic than even the Hollow, it is said that he chooses shinobi with the keen observance of a wallflower, seeking the qualities of a summoner from the moments one descends into the depths. The purpose for his fascination is unknown -- though whether he chooses allies for the sake of survival, or his hostile ambitions, is unknown.
The Insects have always been a shattered sect of creatures, but with the ascension of Yashul and Y'shendra as his queen, the creatures within have come to unify . . . and now they burrow the hollow even deeper, seeking the heart of the world, and so much more.
Way of the Bug: Above all the way of bugs is in essence, the same as all of nature, to change. Adapt to your surroundings and to your predators and soon they will find that their methods of attack becomes useless. While in sage mode mode the user may pay a ranked amount of chakra in order to create a clear coating over their body that slowly takes the color of the user's chakra. What this coating actually does is act as a form of dermal armor. Completely surviving damage up to it's max possible rank (overwhelming not applicable to this technique) and then break away from the user, leaving them with an advanced physiology. Meaning that whatever attack struck the armor will now be treated as one rank weaker for either the rest of the battle or until sage mode ends. This ability may be recast but does not stack up, only change the affected damage resistance. (Damage types that can be chosen are as follows, ninjutsu, bloodline, taijutsu, bukijutsu, and Iryojutsu where applicable).
▰▰▰ Muuna Rank D | Chakra: 600 | Stamina: 1 Str: 0 | Spd: 0 | Agi: 0 | End: 0 Muuna is a large butterfly, roughly the size of a human toddler, that will typically perch itself onto the shoulder of the summoner. She is known for her beauty, with gradient - almost holographic - wings that sheen from a deep blue to a royal indigo. Her eyes glow equally iridescently, a swath of colors as vast as the sunset. Muuna is very quiet, considering battle to be her duty in order to serve Kanoza, her life-guide.
Ability:One With the Earth Muuna may be used as a conduit to gather sennin chakra for her summoner whilst perched upon their shoulder. She will naturally persist in utilizing this ability, activating it as often as possible.
▰ Fae Shriek | Rank: D | Cost: Varies Muuna may release an enchanting, yet shrill song out around her, on a frequency that reverberates physically with the space around her. While channeling this ability, she will seemingly phase out of attacks that would otherwise hit her, spending equal chakra to that of the total amount of resources used to create the technique. This makes her a safer option than most to channel sennin chakra, though her own pool of chakra is small, and so she must still be protected.
▰ Earth Liberation | Rank: D | Cost: Chakra Muuna will leave the shoulder of the summoner, fluttering her wings as she erratically flies around the battlefield. While she remains in flight, all sennin chakra gathering effects - the summoner included - are interrupted, all involved parties being forced to somehow end the effects of such jutsu. If she returns to the body of the summoner for protection, or otherwise stops her fluttering, the technique ends. This technique may be maintained for additional posts via half the cost of the technique's rank used in chakra, every post.
▰ Rhopaloceric Chameleon | Rank: C | Cost: Chakra Muuna may fully camouflage with her surroundings with this technique, the colors around her feeding into her wings and carapace, painting her form as she moves. This technique lasts for four posts.
▰▰▰ Hokusei Rank C | Chakra: 500 | Stamina: 500 Str: 0 | Spd: 0 | Agi: 0 | End: 6 Hokusei is a flightless scarab, who drudges slowly across the ground with an almost dopey, unaware disposition as he attempts - in all earnest - to influence the battlefield. He is roughly the size of a regular human, though he has very short, fragile legs that make him fall onto his feet constantly as he moves.
Ability:Illustration of Failure Though it seems as if Hokusei is completely useless, his dopey exterior and seeming fragility are perhaps one of his greatest strengths. Hokusei, while slowly drudging around the battlefield, lays venomous sacs within the ground that will spring as traps two posts later, flinging themselves at the opponent. These sacs are rankless and can be easily dispatched, but dispatching them will require consuming one of the opponent's defensive actions to order to 'defuse' them one by one, or a single attack activation strong enough to wipe them all at once. These sacs can only spring once every two posts. If the opponent chooses to withstand the sacs, they will melt through flesh as a B-ranked acid attack, applying tier-three corrosion. Creating these sacs cost neither chakra nor an activation.
▰ Scarab Breath | Rank: C | Cost: Chakra Hokusei will exhale a thin veil of semi-acidic mist that quickly spreads around the battlefield, one that will lace enemies with sickening vapor. All enemies caught within have tier two corrosion applied per post, with this effect stacking with other stat reductions applied through Hokisei's corrosion abilities. This lasts for three posts and has a one post-cool-down in between.
▰ Whispering Bolster | Rank: C | Cost: Chakra Hokusei will exhale an invigorating vapor that will wrap around himself and his host for a period of four posts. During this time, no stat reductions can affect either of them, unless from a technique of B rank or higher. This lasts for four posts.
▰ Take Flight | Rank: B | Cost: Chakra Though Hokusei normally cannot fly, he may decrease the size of his body dramatically, while retaining the size of his wings. After doing so, he will latch onto the back of his host, and the summoner will be capable of taking flight whilst attached to Hokusei. This can be used, additionally, to dodge a single B-ranked or lower technique whilst initially taking flight. This lasts for six posts.
▰▰▰ Kanoza Rank B | Chakra: 800 | Stamina: 800 Str: 6 | Spd: 6 | Agi: 0 | End: 0 Kanoza, the Father-Moth, is a summon revered for his efficiency, brutality and discipline. Though he may appear horrific, he operates not on fear, but on pure effectiveness. Kanoza serves Yashul loyally, believing he will bring wealth and prosperity to he and his many children. As such, he acts as a loyal soldier in the hands of the summoner, whilst remaining a terrifying blight on his enemies. In terms of size, he is around nine feet long, with similar proportions to a human in terms of his body's balance. He wields his wings as beating blades of cutting, and his legs as vicious piercing objects.
Ability:One With the Wind Kanoza and his summoner are surrounded by an aura of wind-like force, seemingly channeled by the rapid beating of his wings. The gale surrounding Kanoza and the summoner will decrease the speed and agility of all enemies within or near the vortex by [1] per post they remain by it. Even leaving the vortex after being near it applies its decrease effect lasts for 3 posts unless reapplied by the winds. The radius of this ability is everything within 15 feet of Kanoza.
▰ The Moth's Admirer ▰Category: Illusory ▰Rank: B ▰Primary Sense: Sight ▰Additional Senses: Sound ▰Base Duration: 4 Posts ▰Upkeep: 20 Chakra ▰Trigger: Catching sight of Kanoza's wings. ▰Source: Visual Phantasm ▰Status Effect: None ▰Description: The beating of Kanoza's wings, both the sound and sight, will entrance the target and draw their focus on the Moth. They will proceed to perceive his movements as being much slower and more docile than they actually are, as if viewing him in slow motion. This will, additionally, dramatically reduce the target's depth perception in regards to their surroundings, due to their tunnel-like focus of the Moth. If un-kai'd the target will be unable to see attacks coming from the summoner as they focus on the moth.
▰ Splitting Gale | Rank: B | Cost: Complex Kanoza will channel chakra into his wings, before charging forward with his body faced down, his wings risen above him. They will then rapidly slice forward at any target in front of him, or even behind him, throwing a wave of rapidly cutting wind in the direction of the slice. If not protected against, this attack may easily remove limbs - or worse.
▰ Gale Strike | Rank: A | Cost: Simple The Moth will rapidly begin to spin with his wings bore out, before flinging himself at the opponent and striking them with the high-speed cutting power of his wings. While spinning Kanoza will suffer no damage from same rank techniques, however contact with A rank jutsu will end Gale Strike.
▰▰▰ Y'shendra Rank A | Chakra: 1000 | Stamina: 800 Str: 0 | Spd: 6 | Agi: 6 | End: 2 The Widow demands the form of a regal spider Queen, reigning over others from her vast, distorted web, a large spider nearly the size of a medium home. Y'shendra is neurotic, wild, volatile and sadistic - while she may treat the Summoner something like her kin due to the hive-minded nature of their contract, she is terrifying and difficult to please, ventilating ever-festering rage at her 'subjects' and those who cross her.
Y'shendra demands respect, and invites loyalty. While she may be arbitrary and ill-natured, she can compel reverence in others with ease, a result of her charm and impeccable air of authority. Altogether, she is a leader in her nature, albeit a tyrannical one - but her iron grip is one that serves her Summoner well in keeping those contracted to him in line. Many consider Y'shendra to be the true leader of the Insect summons, the Lady of the Kotobasa Hollow. In all ways but one, she is -- she cannot stand up to Yashul, inferior to his power and horror alike. As a result, she yields, retaining the ideal of rulership . . . and then laying her head into the soil and bowing to her master when he comes into view.
Ability:Senescence of the Mind The silk generated by Y'shendra. carries genjutsu chakra within it, naturally weaved into the fabric of each technique regardless of her intention. Thus, as the Illusory Queen, making contact with Y'shendra's silk will place an enemy into the genjutsu Silken Senescence. Continuous contact with this silk allows genjutsu that are applied to it to compound with each other. This acts as a form of self-korabo with illusions, the durations will be reset to the max and the ranks of both jutsu will combine with each to a cap of S+.
▰ Silken Senescence ▰Category: Illusory ▰Rank: A ▰Primary Sense: Sight ▰Additional Senses: Touch ▰Base Duration: 5 Posts ▰Upkeep: 40 Chakra ▰Trigger: Seeing or touching the silk ▰Source: Visual Phantasms ▰Status Effect: None ▰Description: Silken Senescence triggers upon contacting any of Y'shendra's silk, or even directly witnessing her silk. Typically, the silk is nearly invisible against its backgorund, but it will become clearly visible and obvious as Y'shendra applies weight to its specific area or utilizes that silk for techniques. Silken Senescence will make the target imagine that they have been bound by silk, with thousands of spiders burrowing into their flesh, biting them, imparting venom and spitting acid against their skin. While under this genjutsu movement becomes impossible until kai is preformed.
▰ Dancing on Strings | Rank: A | Cost: Chakra Y'shendra can levy her weight against the strands of her web, jumping from one part of the web to another designated area at extreme speeds. This can be used to dodge techniques of A rank or lower, or to take a reduced amount of damage from higher-rank techniques, avoiding taking a direct hit and 'reducing' damage by an A-ranked amount.
▰ Silken Strings | Rank: A | Cost: Chakra Y'shendra will take hold of the stands of silk she has created throughout the battle, before manipulating them with her talons, forcing them to launch after the target en masse. If they manage to wrap around the foe, they will wrap them into a cocoon web, preventing them from escaping or performing any actions unless rescued or broken by an equal strength technique.
▰▰▰ Yashul Rank S | Chakra: 700 | Stamina: 1700 Str: 6 | Spd: 6 | Agi: 2 | End: 0 Many call Yashul 'the Centipede', though in truth it is uncertain what type of insect he is. He is an incredibly large bug, nearly a hundred feet in length with dozens of legs running across his body. Yashul's legs are incredibly powerful, allowing him to move at extreme speeds contemplated by few other insects - and even shinobi. He is known for his haste and lethality, creeping through forests and other dense terrain with his agile frame before leaping at foes and killing them instantly.
His personality is as disconcerting as his shape. The Centipede acts with little inhibition or fear, operating a perpetually cold and insincere demeanor. Even the Contract Holder appears to be of little consequence to him, and the Centipede works with him or her only for the purpose of feeding.
Ability:Carapace Skin Yashul can meld with the body of the summoner, becoming a light carapace armor that increases the speed of the summoner by [2] while active. Additionally, the summoner gains a tail similar in shape to the length of Yashul's centipede body, one that can perform basic combat strikes so fast that they ignore enemy agility. This expends an S ranked amount of stamina from Yashul per post.
▰ The Lurch of the Centipede | Rank: S | Cost: Simple The Lurch of the Centipede is a very basic strike fundamentally, but one propelled by absurd levels of speed. Yashul will fling forward, catapulting through the air before descending upon his opponent, ripping them into pieces within moments with his many bladed legs. Because of his gigantic size, this attack cannot be blocked by anything smaller than himself. Attempts to do so will result in an auto-hit. Leaving evasion the only option.
▰ Death Screed | Rank: S+ | Cost: Chakra After taking heavy damage, Yashul may burrow into the ground and meld with the soil, sinking deeper and deeper as he rapidly repairs his body with the sewing motion of his hundreds of legs. He will then rise up again from the ground, all injuries being cured, and any stamina lost through trauma is restored to him.
The village was behind him now. He wore a cloak around his shoulders, veiling his visage, all but his face and the messy locks of black and white hair that swept through his hood and lightly laid against his forehead. He was not here because he wanted to uncover the Great Insects, or become a summoner, or acquire more power. Shinsei... didn't even know that these things - or even really this place - had existed, not far from the compound that he'd once called home.
But always, and for so long, this great chasm among the soil had whispered to him... and it had called. Shinsei, it sung. Come to us. Come be with us. He had never listened, and for good reason. To be here -- to witness the things that he had already begun to see -- was a thing of horror. How would he have fared if he'd come here, so long ago? Would the beetles have crawled from the walls and destroyed him? Would he have cried out in desperation, only for his prayers to go unanswered?
Even now, as he stepped only a few dozen feet into the first depths, he could see the darkness below . . . and it was vast. Along the walls, there were webs, and sacs, and bulbous tumors filled with viscous fluid, and the emerging carcasses of new predators. There were mushrooms along the floor that grew greater than the height of man, and grass and leaves of a peculiar color. The chromatic gradient of the leaves that spanned down the walls was intense, and unfamiliar.
Everything about this place -- yet unnamed to him -- was strange. And yet it called for him. Perhaps it was its strangeness that made him belong here. Perhaps he...
"Do you revel in the feeling of the Blight?" the Hollow asked.
"The Blight?" he responded.
"The darkness that has overcome your energy, from when you first became a Sage. Do you feel it?"
Immediately, he knew. The Thicket was what it spoke of -- the rotten, gnarled chaos that had overcome his forestry. It turned what was merely umber wood into a plague upon the land, growing and splitting through the soil. Emerging, never dying, an invasive weed. The greatest symbol of his own imperfections; the eternal deterrent, one that he wore upon his back shamefully.
He had always... always wanted to be rid of it. For so long.
"I don't want it," he replied. "Can you take it away from me? I want to live like a normal man. Not... always carrying this bile on my back, draped around like a cloak of allegiance. I have no love, or fealty, to this 'Thicket'. I never will."
And the voice bellowed with laughter.
"You are the Thicket. One aspect of many; Knights of a Dead God, dead but deathless. One who revels in his incapacitation. He lives here, in the deep Hollow, strung within a great cocoon and held suspended by the body of a great tree. That tree... is your tree, the Heart of the Blight. Your throne -- from which to lead us all. Do you wish to see it?"

He couldn't... fathom it all. What all of it meant; how any of it made sense. These were all lies, all imaginations. The voice was his madness made manifest. There was no Heart of the Blight, nor Dead God strung upon a tree, nor throne for him to sit upon. The voice was madness, and he desperately needed to be cured. But before he was... he wanted to see it.
Its majesty. Its greatness. He had to know.
"Show me," he whispered, beneath his breath. And from the shadows, a centipede with a body much like a man did lurch. His tail slithered quietly along the Hollow, and with his sharp talons he beckoned the Blightlord forth.
"You already know how to harness nature energy," the insect explained, examining the man and his flow of Senjutsu chakra. "So - though Muuna will make her bond with you - that is not what you must do in order to become our Sage. To do that, you must understand our desire."
As if from nothing, a web of illusion split to reveal the tree, and the great sprawling cocoon that was held up by so many, massive branches. The creature that it held must have been hundreds of feet tall... and beneath its carcass was a jagged throne of wood, with roots sprawling outward and cleaving into the soil.
The room was... beautiful. Crystals lined the walls, and reflected colors. Voices echoed, and songs were sung from nothing, no voices. An opera, a song of the dead.
"Kamshatra is his name," he whispered. "Death suits him, but to see you here... brings out such great longing. I can feel him twisting against the silk that binds him. He will never return to us - not wholly - but to have you here is like having him. The Blightlord belongs with us. With me," the Centipede stated, coiling around the man as his oddly textured palms met his cheek.
"Yashul," the creature spoke his name. "You will rule my insects -- and we will rule the ruins of the Old World. Let it be known."
From then onward, Yashul offered him many things. He aspired for Shinsei to master the sage arts -- beyond Senpou Mokuton, and explored the expansion of those talents, Muuna coming to his side. He wished for his progeny to be a Sennin of the Insects, a true master of the Kotobasa Hollow. Shinsei was to be crowned and coordinated, wearing a circlet of brambles that did not dig into his skin. Instead, they angled themselves forward, breathing against his face as a mold of soft roots. They were... comforting.
Quickly, Shinsei learned that the forest he crafted would never harm him. As the core of the Hollow became overwhelmed by the Thicket, he found only that it was more and more benevolent to his needs. It grew fruit like none seen before; it shied away from hurting him, or prickling him with thorns. It somehow knew, and felt, the presence of the Blightlord. Was this merely the Senjutsu chakra reacting to the nature around him? Or was it something more sinister? He did not know.
But for once, slumbering beneath the cocoon of the Great Necromancer, Kamshatra, he felt... truly at peace.
When he awoke, the crown of brambles had receded from around his head, and Muuna - his Rhopaloceric companion - laid quietly among the roots of a tree, her softly textured insectoid head pressed into the smooth wood. Shinsei yawned lightly, before shutting his eyes and attempting to regain the Senjutsu energy he had communed with earlier, with Yashul.
He... remembered the feeling of succumbing to the Blight. How it was liberating, confusing, euphoric and equally isolating, fearsome. He remembered feeling . . . terrified -- like there was nothing left for him in the world if he said 'yes' to the hunger within.
But since then, he hadn't become petrified; no stone slab laying among the riverbed. He had become all the more empowered to be who he was, with the advent of Senpo Mokuton. With... him.
That meant a great deal. Becoming the 'Blightlord', leading the Insects alongside Yashul... it all felt so strange, particularly as he hadn't come here expecting anything. But now, here within this vast meadow strewn around his throne, and the cocoon of an apparent God...?
"Shinsei," Muuna called, awaking from her clearly light sleep. "Are you ready for more Sage training?" she asked him. The shinobi nodded in affirmation; he was ready.
"Okay," the butterfly replied. "Are you focusing on the energy around you? It's like... Senpou Mokuton, but -- bigger. There's so much more of it. Don't think of just the forest, the brush, think of the earth and the sea and the sky. And the wind, and everything that it blows through, and passes by. It's so... vast, and incredible, and it's even more incredible to touch it."
She illustrated this fancily, flowing through the air as she moved within inconsistent bursts of motion, fluttering her wings with the fluctuation of her own enthusiasm. "To be a Sage is to hold out your finger-tips and touch the energy flowing among the wind, as if you -- for a moment -- are a part of it all. That's why... humans typically become stone if they touch it unprepared; nature consumes them, as they -- as men -- are not prepared to be a part of it." The butterfly whispered this with glee.
She was clearly very attached to that energy - to the wind, to the earth and sky. To Muuna, that was... everything. Her soul was bound to that nature, and that was alright. In a way, it was uplifting, to see such youthful jubilance. Particularly among what was, literally, an insect.
Over time, he did learn. And over time, he became a Sage, following the guidance of Yashul and Muuna beneath him. They learned to concentrate alongside one another, mastering Ryousei no Jutsu with Muuna pressed into his shoulder. She merged with the swell of energy, and laid quietly among his skin, her well-weaved insect legs pressed lightly against the fabric concealing him. Their relationship became soothing, and symbiotic . . . and before long, trust became collaboration, and understanding became equity.
Muuna was the first summon he truly bonded with, and alongside their success, came the standing of Shinsei Sanada as -- one of few in all the world -- a true Summoning Sage.
Masato and the crew would arrive upon the border of the Sage Lands as they pushed into a thick forested area. Masato turned to look back at Zhi. " The air here is thick with Nature Chakra..." He said, as though he was instinctually sensing it. He looked about, curious of the nature of the area. He wondered where this Shinsei person could be. His crimson eyes surveyed the area with dutiful intent. While there were many sources of chakra in the area, one of those sources was inherently larger than the rest. " He's that way." Masato said as he gestured towards the direction he had turned and continued to walk.

__ Zhi arrived along with the other two guys. The trip had here had been pretty nice, all things considered. Zhi had time to spend with Taylor so they could sorta get to know each other again. It was easier to enjoy those moments when they weren't passing through dimensions to quickly get around; granted, Zhi kinda really thought it was really cool to save time like that. Most of it was just talking about good times he couldn't currently remember due to the other faces that had been involved. There were some more solemn points here and there but thankfully not many. Now that they were here, it was their hope to finally find that Shinsei guy and bring him back to clear Taylor's name. Zhi would follow Masato's lead, finding that his sense of direction pretty much seemed spot on according to what she could also detect at the moment.
