______________A r e a ... D e s c r i p t i o n || ____Located at the center of the series of districts for the most protection, the residential district is also the largest one. Almost every member of the hub lives here. Existing houses have been repaired, and new ones are being built, keeping the general traditional Japanese style. Of course, in a building economy in a post-apocalyptic world, no one gets to live here for free, and everyone is required to pull their weight or find somewhere else to stay, barring physical inability. There are also 'apartments' available for those that don't need or can't afford a whole house.

Guard posts look out over the wall every hundred feet or so. ____ • There are three ways into and out of the district. The first is a gate on the north and south ends on the main road to allow carts and other vehicles through. Foot traffic is discouraged. Likewise, connecting all of the districts is a series of bridges overlooking the road, and several zip-lines, though it only goes one direction for the moment: down.

Today had been like any other day as of recent. Zuhra was early to rise per usual and started his day off the same as the rest by heading out to get some fresh water. The trip was well rehearsed, since this was something he did every morning since the dynamic duo had moved here. Speaking of, how long has it been since they awoke? Was it going on three months now? Ever since they left the forest time seemed to fly by.
Pushing the past out of his thoughts the seemingly young vampire would set down the two buckets on the table before starting a fire in the fireplace to get some warmth going as well as to get prepared for breakfast. Taking the first bucket he would head to the bathroom and grab a cloth along the way, using the time while he waited for the fire to build up to clean himself with the rag. Once that was done he would check the fire before putting the pot containing last night's dinner over the flame to heat up.
Leftover's for breakfast was pretty common here, and was something he had grown used to. It was just a shame they didn't have the money or resources to get more things for Masako to experiment with, bread and soup was getting a bit.. bland, even with how well his companion prepared it. Filling a cup up with water from the second bucket, Zuhra made his way over to the window and opening it.
Leaning out he would tip over his cup and pour the fresh water into the dry soil of the small flowerpot containing the seeds of tomatoes, something he had taken up trying to grow for Masako. There was a shift in the wind which caught him just right, the chilly early morning air running shivers up his spine which made his grip on his cup loosen and allowed it to slip free and fall down below, shattering atop the crystalline spike that residing in the alley beneath their window on the third floor.
A discontent groan-grumble combination slipped past his lips as he was getting ready to push himself back into the room to head down and grab the remains of what used to be his ceramic cup before the loud sound of something cracking caught his attention below. ❝...?❞

Lupus floated through darkness unending, numb to the passage of time, of life and breath and blood. Numb to the unending years in silence, unaware that centuries were slipping past as he slumbered away. Yet in that absence a sense of self was fleeting at best, but something began to pull it together. First a void, and suddenly something warm, moist upon skin. Whose skin? The question was difficult to answer, lost in the mess of reality that begins to intrude upon his existence. Yet once its felt it's a cascade of effects that end in his body moving, thrashing, fighting against the restraints as his sense of self begins to return. With that there's a burning sensation, followed by the cracking of glass and crystal as light sears his eyes and he finds the scent of civilization and metal filling his nostrils. A crack of wood follows, and the clanking of steel sound nearby as the wood gives way, and the world comes into sight before his eyes.
Said eyes blearily gazed around, confusion clear as day in the two beautiful crimson orbs. How long had he been asleep? Was asleep the right term? Unconscious..? No matter; looking down at himself he was relieved to still be in possession of his golden plate armor, however aside from that he saw nothing else, not his weapons nor his pack. Thankfully when he turned around to look more in-depth he saw his backpack off to the side, with all of his usual gear leaning against it neatly, as if waiting for him since the beginning of his crystallization. Walking over he grabbed his stuff, slipping his backpack over his shoulders before strapping his Gunbai to his back carefully. Looking up he looked eyes with a man above him, for some reason the man was staring intently at him as if seeing a ghost or something. After a moment of staring he spoke in a loud voice, his voice booming throughout the entire alleyway and even part of the street in front.
His voice seemed to contain the will of a King from ancient times long past, one that made normal people want to bow slightly in respect while causing most others to give him at least a nod of recognition. "Might I ask why you're staring at me as if you know who I am? Have we met before? I don't recall any type of clothing matching yours from any neighboring city states or kingdoms. Were you keeping watch of my Crystal? If so then you have my gratitude, if not then might I ask where a man can get some food and water?" Despite the aura he gave off and the tone of his voice his words left him with a slightly deadpan look on his face, reaching up to scratch the back of his head as a bead of sweat dripped down it like an anime.

Zuhra simply stared down below in slight amusement coupled with partial disbelief. Did his cup really just awaken this person from their suspended prison? Zuhra continued to watch on as the man attempted to center themselves after awakening and gather their belongings. He may have been watching for too long for it would appear that the shining golden god below noticed his presence and looked up to meet his gaze before asking some basic to be expected questions and making a queer inquiry.
The vampire's right eyebrow perked up with curiosity at the man's words. City states, kingdoms? How long ago must that have been. Grabbing ahold of the railing to the balcony Zuhra would vault himself over and down into the alley below, landing beside the mind before going about his own business and picking up the pieces of his broken cup so as to not cause any trouble for anyone else.
❝You could say that.. I'm surprised you are hungry, must people feel fully refreshed when they awake from their slumber, but it seems you are were like myself and feel hungry. Follow me I suppose, I don't have much, but it'll be warm at the least..❞ Zuhra spoke in a very monotone fashion as he picked up the shards and placed them into his palm. Once he was done he stood up and started to exit the alleyway, but not before taking a quick surveilling once-over of the man in full plate.
He would motion to follow with his free hand and would lead Lupus up to his shared apartment room and make a quick quip about watching his head as he entered. Once inside Zuhra would throw the shattered cup away and grab a bowl before walking over and taking the lid off the soup he had set on the fire earlier that morning. The light aroma of miso would fill the living room and he would ladle in a healthy portion of the soup into the bowl. Walking over to the table he would place the bowl in front of Lupus and motion to the sliced bread. He would repeat this twice more, preparing a bowl for himself and Masako.
Speaking of Masako, Zuhra made his way into their room to find her asleep on the floor still, laying sprawled out and as messy as ever. Even in the darkened room he could see perfectly fine due to his night vision. With a sigh the young male would squat down and brush some hair out of his companion's face and give her a few light shakes. ❝Wake up, we have company, and breakfast is ready..❞
Standing up he would leave the room and close the door so she would have some privacy before going and accompanying their guest. ❝It's not much, but it's what we got... If you have questions, I'll try to answer them.❞ With that clear, he would get to work on eating his food.

Watching the black-haired man listen to him speak his piece, Lupus checked for any strange reactions to his words, which he did seem to get upon his mentioning of neighboring city states and kingdoms, the man seemed confused for a moment before he jumped down to be face to face with Lupus, or well at least on even ground with him. Watching him retrieve the shards of his cup, Lupus listened to him speak while tilting his head in curiosity at his words. Most people emerged refreshed? He only felt ravenous hunger, followed by a barren thirst on his tongue as if he hadn't drank in thousands of years. He could only attribute that to the his boisterous vitality from his bloodline, resulting in his size and metabolism .
Seeing the man motion for him to follow him, Lupus began walking forward at a moderate pace, easily catching up and keeping pace with him due to his height. Long legs OP and all. After a few moments of walking they stopped in front of what he could only assume was their destination, which was proven right when the man mentioned watching his head. Keeping that in mind he ducked down under the door, making sure he cleared it before standing up once more. Sitting down at the table he waited patiently before a bowl was placed before him. Nodding his head in thanks he reached forward to get a small spoonful of food, bringing it up to smell carefully for anything strange. While he wasn't a paranoid person he was at least cautious enough to check his food first.
A few sniffs later he began eating it, grabbing a slice of bread while he did so. He was waiting for the man to return from what he could see was rousing another person. When he sat down and began eating Lupus smiled softly before speaking in a much softer tone than before. "I appreciate the food, it's very good. Do you happen to have any alcohol? Or perhaps tea?" Though it wasn't actually a question he did pose it to him, before returning to eating while pondering anything he wished to know.
The main thing was just what the world had come to, what happened while he was asleep. Or even why was he smaller than usual? Which was a rather disorienting feeling, being nearly a foot shorter than you usually are. It was like he'd regressed in age, or it was at least forcefully sealed away by something or someone. After a second of gathering his thoughts he spoke once more, this time a much more serious tone to his voice. "What happened to this world while I was asleep? Clearly it's been a long time if even City States no longer exist. Were we cursed? I'm smaller and weaker than I was then. It's strange." With that said he fell silent, returning to eating his food quietly as he mulled over other questions he might have. For now he was just going to enjoy his food while he could, and hopefully something to drink if they had it.

xxxxxMasako would simply roll over as Zuhra attempted to wake her. Sleep was important when you barely had enough food to fill your stomach after all. That was why when Masako heard the clinking of a bowl and the chewing of food, she sprung into action. The door between the two rooms would instantly fly open with Masako pointing right at the bowl Lupus was holding. "Drop it ogre man. We ain't got enough food to fill your stomach." As she spoke, her own stomach began to grumble loudly. She then dramatically collapsed to the ground, dragging herself to the table. "Feed me."

❝I would say thank you but I didn't make it. Sadly no, we don't, it's just water I got you earlier. Money is kinda tight in a seemingly post apocalyptic world.❞ Zuhra would calmly answer before going back to his soup and bread. The two ate in silence for a bit, presumably as the stranger thought of a million questions to ask, to most of which Zuhra probably wouldn't have the answers to because he himself was still pretty new to this whole thing, and reawakening didn't exactly come with a noob-friendly guide.
The rhythmic sounds of people eating would get broken by the door to their bedroom being flung open as Masako was roused from her slumber. She would make a bold, yet accurate claim before collapsing to the ground in a dramatic fashion and put on a questionable show. Zuhra would sigh and hold his hand out for her to grab to help her up, ❝I already prepared you a bowl, get up and eat. Seesh, and I'm suppose to be the crude one...❞
Once Masako was up and feeding herself the vampire would redirect his attention back to their guest. ❝A lot of things happened to this world. For starters, city states and kingdoms are so far back in the past it's hard to even remember, and that was in our time, before we fell to the crystal pandemic, and there's no telling how long it has been since then. Even then, the world itself is trying to get back on it's feet it would seem, so as far as I'm aware, there is no progress on figuring out what happened to it.❞
Zuhra would shrug as if to say "what can you do", and then proceeded to eat away at the remains of his bread now that he was finished with his soup before turning to Masako. ❝And you're right, we really don't have enough, so I'll just skip a few meals so at-least you can eat, and before you object it's okay, I'm used to it.❞

Looking over at the small pink-haired girl that barged into the room demanding he drop his bowl of food, Lupus merely blinked in amusement before going back to eating the rest of the bowl before speaking in his usual domineering tone. "Sorry I seem to have eaten all of it, I'll have to drop it when I get a newly refilled bowl of food. Who knows when that will be but it's fine." Giving her a sardonic smile he set the bowl down before facing Zuhra once more as the man began to explain the status of kingdoms and city states. With a grim look on his face he looked down in thought, thinking about his previous kingdom and subjects with forlorn thoughts. It felt like just yesterday when he was leading them happily to conquer the kingdoms around him, in hopes of expanding to take over the continent one day. Now he was alone in this world, with no one from his past alive to reminisce with. Sighing softly he looked up once more, locking gazes with Zuhra before speaking in a slightly duller tone. "So it would seem I am alone in this world now, a remnant of a time long gone... is there any room in your band of misfits for a estranged oni?"
With a soft smile he looked at the two, waiting for them to respond before adding in another sentence. "I'm not as smart as most people with academics but I'm strong and can carry a lot around, maybe take some small farm jobs for money if needed." With that said he went silent fully, sitting back in his seat before crossing his arms over his chest lightly. Even if they said no he wasn't as worried because he could always live out in the forest or something and forage for his own food, however it would be easier to live with a group that can also take jobs, potentially even jobs together to go into combat and make good money.

Whether or not this is true is difficult to say at best, given none were meant to have survived, but the pale white leather that covers the faces of the weapon definitely do look and feel like stretched human flesh. With the steel handle twisted and cast in such a way that it looks like human faces are screaming out from the shaft and the bladded edge of the Gunbai seeming to reflect light in odd, twisted ways it is clear that whatever its origins it was clearly designed for fear. Yet the truly horrific parts come when Usugi is awoken, caused by fifty [50] Chakra or Stamina points being spent as a sacrifice to the thing that guards within. tab → The Howling Shards ► Water and wind, fire, earth and lightning powers controlled by the wielder find their techniques altered thematically when used alongside this weapon. Wind howls with the screams of the dead and damned, with fire morphing into the expressions of those who died in fire. Water is blacker than sin and carries with it the reek of fetid blood while electricity snarles into demonic forms. The earth, tormented by its power, is black and rotted with decay, carrying with it the sweet stench of death. In effect techniques being used inspire a negative effect, a chilling, dark energy that borders the unholy power of corruption. C - ranked Shadow damage is constantly applied alongside the damage of the attacks, something that bypasses Defense and does half again [50% More] more Durability damage than before. This effect lasts for three [3] posts, with an upkeep of 30 Chakra or Stamina per post after. tab → The Crawling Chaos ► Use of this weapon comes at a cost as the mind begins to rot with each post sustaining the evil power of Usagi. For every three [3] posts being used apply one [1] point of Spiritual corruption upon the body. At every ten [10] points of Corruption the body gains an Echo Intrusion affliction. These Intrusions alter the physical body and emotional state of the figure in some way, while providing a bonus in its place. These may be submitted as "custom techniques", though in all cases there is a negative as equal in strength as the positive, and will include physical alterations.

Zuhra quietly nibbled on his bread while listening to the banter between the two. Masako would dragon herself off the floor with a pout and sit down before digging into the food Zuhra had prepared for her before a slightly grim look would overtake her features at the vampire's remark to their food status. Having him starve was not something she wanted, but he did have a point, he was able to stand through it; gods know how many times he had to do so before they found themselves here, and then even after on occasion. The big oni man across from her would reflect on the words of Zuhra and eventually find himself at some sort of acceptance or decision as he turned to them and asked to join them.
She was surprised, but not overly so. It was to be expected, all the same with Zuhra. For the man across from them, this was his best way of survival, but for them, it was risky. While Masako nibbled on her bread, she would steal a long hard glance at Zuhra who was finishing off the rest of his food as she debated within herself. While another mouth, and seemingly one that could eat as much as Zuhra would surely drain whatever food they could get and make it a struggle even more so every day, the extra muscle could help. Zuhra wouldn't have to shoulder all the burden this way, and if luck favored them, then they could potentially do twice the work and get enough supplies in order to sustain all of them. On the flip side, it could fail, and either they couldn't make ends meet or they could come to strife with this man since after all he was still an unknown factor.
While she struggled with this Zuhra would sigh and stand from the table before reaching out and giving a gentle rub to the top of Masako's head before walking over to the door and gathering his things. ❝It's alright, I know what you want to say, and I know what you are thinking but that's not your forte so don't try it. You just stay there and eat the rest of your food and go back to experimenting with your little devil's tool, I'll figure something out.❞ With that he would motion for Lupus to follow him as he without looking waved behind him to Masako.

Watching the two discuss his request to join their group, Lupus merely crossed his arms and leaned back, letting them think it through without saying anything. He knew it was a big undertaking taking him in, he was large and consumed a lot of resources in the form of food and fluids, it was a problem even back in his era. Not everyone can afford to feed a mountain of a man like himself, that's why he was offering as much as he could to them in the form of his body for work. After a few moments Zuhra stood up and moved towards the door, motioning for him to follow which he did; standing up in a single graceful yet powerful motion, his body rising to its full height before he walked past Masako and towards Zuhra. After that he would duck down under the doorway, emerging before turning to speak to him with a deep and understanding tone. "I understand if I'm needed to work harder than normal, its no big deal. It's very hard to sustain my food and water supplies, it always has been." With that said he would stop, waiting for the man to either speak or continue walking before he did anything or said anything else.

Once Lupus had joined him, he would begin to lead the two of them out into the streets and towards the inner residential district. It would seem that Lupus knew very well the type of problem he would create for them, and that was a good sign. It meant he had a somewhat decent head on his shoulders and was mindful about things, so he had that going for him. Zuhra walked with his body very laxed, hands residing inside the pockets of his fleece pants.
❝It's not just about your daily necessities, chemistry is important too. We.. I can't, just blindly put my faith into someone to support us. Masako is too important to me, taking a gamble with her life is something I will not do.❞ So far Zuhra had been very nonchalant, almost aloof even as if he simply lived in his own world not caring about anything, but when he stopped to deliver that final line and turn to give a look back to the giant behind him, his voice and gaze, even the way he was carrying himself in the moment were quite fierce, his crimson eyes even giving off a rich vibrance despite them being outside in the daytime.
Lupus had a good head on him, so Zuhra was sure his underlying promise hidden underneath his words was conveyed quite clear. With his point made, he released a sigh and turned to continue their journey, returning back to his good ole laxed self. ❝To see if we can work together, I want us to do some basic tasks together so I can get a feel for you. We'll probably do nothing big, just helping out the other villagers in exchange for food or something.❞ With that, he would continue to carry them further into the residential district and go around looking for those in need.

Glancing at the red-eyed man in front of him, Lupus began following behind him as they began walking into the streets and through the residential district of the area they were in. Despite the mans relaxed posture Lupus felt an underlying tension from him, one that he knew was more than just him being a stranger; which was confirmed when Zuhra began speaking about Masako, and how he wouldn't put her in danger; something Lupus understood and even agreed with, which made his opinion of Zuhra climb a bit past just a good-natured stranger. After the man finished speaking he turned his head to gaze up at Lupus, eliciting a mere smile from the giant demonic man. He was nothing if not understanding and accepting of things, he wouldn't have become a leader if he wasn't, as such he didn't let the blatant aggression phase him, instead keeping his usual calm smile before speaking in his previous booming tone, washing over everything and nothing at the same time in a strange way, though in reality it was just a fiction of most peoples imagination, and his voice simply boomed throughout everyone. "I understand your concerns, we'll work through them slowly and I'll show you that I mean no harm to you or your tiny companion."
When the conversation shifted to various tasks and missions they would be doing to help others, Lupus merely nodded his head before glancing around briefly to look at the people around them. He was sure there would be people eventually, so it was a good idea to look out for people in need at all locations. When Zuhra began walking again he followed behind him, his arms resting relaxed against his sides as he did so, though his eyes lit up upon mention of food. Sadly even the food earlier was barely enough to sate his hunger for a small time, which was strange considering he felt refreshed but not, as if he was fully capable of entering combat and utilizing his strength, but in regards to his hunger it was rather strange, feeling full and not at the same time. With a grumble he rubbed his stomach briefly before patting it and continuing to follow behind Zuhra slowly.
