______________A r e a ... D e s c r i p t i o n || ____Where it all started, the Administrative District was the first district of Ikeinasu established, before it spread to the other locals. Several of the houses have been combined into one large estate in which administrative duties are taken care of. It is here that everything happens to keep the hub running, from assigning duties, to counting storage and coin, to meeting with foreign dignitaries. Aside from the main building, a court and jail house have also been set up.
Just inside the front doors on the right, a large board hangs on the wall. This is where jobs and missions are posted for members of the hub to take for a variety of rewards. To its left is listed the laws that have been made for the town. Further in, hallways split off on either side, leading to various offices. Other meeting rooms and more offices line the hall to the back of the building. The end of the hall opens into a lobby, where a secretary's desk has been set up. Past the desk, a set of thick wooden doors lead into an office where the leader does their work. The room itself contains little more than a desk and chairs for now.

Guard posts look out over the wall every hundred feet or so. ____ • There are three ways into and out of the district. The first is a gate on the north and south ends on the main road to allow carts and other vehicles through. Foot traffic is discouraged. Likewise, connecting all of the districts is a series of bridges overlooking the road, and several zip-lines, though it only goes one direction for the moment: down.

Storage Items found in the storage are available for members of the hub to use as they desire--on the condition that they offer materials and supplies to the storage as well. Materials being picked up can be obtained in their associated area (i.e. the market, hospital, research institute, etc.).

______________H o w ... I t ... W o r k s || ____This is the Mission Board! Your character is welcome to stop by to pick up a mission or two to do for some experience and/or money. Some missions are one-off requests by NPCs within the hub, or from merchants visiting from other locales. RPCs are also welcome to submit missions to [Royal Taorito] to add to the list. Other missions are considered 'story' missions and may unlock other quests to undertake upon completion or meeting certain requirements. I will not differentiate between one-offs and story missions, so it's up to you to decide what's priority and what isn't. Of course, NPCs and some RPCs will help you figure that out as well.
In order to claim a mission, the character must physically pick up the notice from the board and then go to speak with the NPC or RPC listed under "Mission Start". At that point, the mission will be crossed off the board. If it is surrendered, it will return to the board, but upon completion it will be removed. In order to complete a mission, the RPC must return to the quest giver with the items or information desired. Only then will you receive payment.
When contacting the quest giver, quote [Royal Taorito] so that a DM can be arranged for the mission.

Familiar Beast Rank: C Requirements: Upon reaching the location, must be completed within [10] rounds. Objective: In the plains at the end of the Hallowed Path, a herd of wild horses has been found. They are not the domesticated creatures we once knew, and are potentially dangerous to approach. Your objective is to capture as many as possible before they can get away, and bring them back to town so they can be tamed. Note: A horse is considered lost if it is any way maimed or killed. Rewards: Exp and Ryo per capture. Mission Start: Speak with Kaileer Cein'lys.
Scouting the Outskirts Rank: C Requirements: A team of three; minimum [5] rounds of posting. Objective: Now that the town has settled in, we need to see about Yokai activity in the outskirts of the city. The more we can find out about them, the more of an advantage we have. Your objective is to scout the outskirts for patrol patterns and sprite captives. But you need to remain undetected if possible. They're already of our position along the Hallowed Path; we don't need to give them any more reason to attack us. Rewards: +400 Exp and Ryo Mission Start: Speak with Kiyoshi Matsushita, in the Administrative District.
A Plague on the Land Rank: C Requirements: None. Objective: Not far north of town, corpses of both humans and Yokai have been found, and every one has been some manner of diseased. Every one is different, however. We need you to find the source of these corpses and either stop it, or report back. Rewards: Exp and Ryo reward, based on encounter. Escorting Wolf Rank: B Requirements: None. Objective: A strange wolf has been threatening travelers along the road to the south of town. It needs to be located and defeated so that safety is restored. But be careful; There's something off about this thing. Rewards: Exp and Ryo reward, based on encounter. Mission Start: Speak with Tsubaki Shiga, at the south gate.

[Location:] In the office.
It was a long three months. But at the same time, it went by too fast. After other Wakeners started showing up, drawn in by our bonfire's smoke, we were able to throw together a safe haven for them. Unfortunately, that also drew the attention of the Yokai, who weren't aware of our presence until that point. Despite everything, though, we'd managed to turn the plateaus of ancient houses into some semblance of a town. Mostly makeshift, but the longer we were awake, the more we learned and the better we got at our skill sets. As for myself, I pushed myself through my injuries and my own self pity to regain some of my strength. And after three months, I was finally starting to feel like my old self. There was still a long way to go, but it was something.
Hono eventually somehow found his way to the outpost, but there had still been no sign of Soraru. I was afraid to think the worst, but between trying to organize everything and helping with repairs, I honestly hadn't had time to search for him. If he was in fact still alive out there, though, he could probably manage on his own for quite some time. Or maybe he had found other Wakeners. That was a more comforting thought.
In the meanwhile, however, I was left in charge of the outpost.
"...so if you happen to snag a Medium that can take a look, send 'em to the fields." The dark-haired teen that spoke to me gave a half-derisive sniff, glancing out a nearby window in the dimly lit room. With the near-black hair and green eyes, and being a Hakemoto descendant to boot, he might well have been related to me. But he wasn't and I was grateful for that. He meant well enough, but he had a tendency to unintentionally be an a**. He was cocky and overly sure of himself, which got annoying on most occasions. Turning him away wasn't an option, though, because he was one of the first Wakeners we found, and he was genuinely good at what he did. One of my top medics and a decent warrior, he was also weirdly charismatic and great at getting info out of people.
I scowled slightly, skimming through the report I'd been handed for the third time. I was used to weird things happening, but a crying boulder? That was a new one. Apparently, out in our poor excuse for farmland, there was a rather large stone no one had bothered to move that had been reported emitting wailing sounds in the middle of the night. Two different guards now had reported it.
Evidently the other young man in the room with us was skeptical despite the report, and I couldn't exactly blame him. I found it hard to believe myself, but experience told me not to doubt it. "You actually believe this, Ryouma?" Kiyoshi was another of the originals, and also well trusted. He was an expert when it came to stealth and in charge of most scouting missions. Golden haired and hazel eyed, he didn't look the part, but he had the cool-headed intensity needed for his role.
"I mean..." I started, intervening. I set the paper down on the desk before me and looked over at 'Ryouma'. His name was Hachirou but he preferred his surname when being addressed. "We've already seen a lot of weird s**t the last few months. It might be a sprite causing mischief or something." I glanced toward one corner of the room, where Fiorzia was curled up with a blanket, napping. She wasn't going to be much use anyway, since the voices of all three of us present would do more harm than good to the situation.
Sighing, I pushed my hair out of my face and let my hand settle on the back of my neck. "Well, I'll have a notice put up about it. Otherwise, no new activity?"
The pair shook their heads, though Kiyoshi was the one to speak. "Nothing at the north gate anyway. Haven't heard from Tsubaki yet about the south, but no news is good news, right?"
I grimaced at that. His optimism felt fake, but it was true to an extent. I just wasn't so sure I believed it. How was it we'd managed to stay in the middle of a major road for so long without issues from the Fades? Then again, it was entirely possible they were too busy fighting amongst themselves. If the compendium I was given was any indicator, the three clans that inhabited the Tsukihara region weren't exactly on friendly terms. "Anyway, don't let me keep you two."
They dismissed themselves without much more to add, Kiyoshi taking another jab at Ryouma on the way out. I waited until after the door had shut and I couldn't hear their voices anymore before I sat down with another sigh, leaning back in the seat to stare at the ceiling.
Maybe it had to do with being thrown into the body of a child who didn't have a good hold on his emotions, but the last three months since I'd admitted my depression had been a struggle. I never spoke of it, not even to Fiorzia, but to be honest I didn't have to say anything to her. I'd been given a second shot at life, though, and she needed me for something, though she'd yet to explain what exactly that was. Plus there was that small spark of hope that my best friend was still alive out there. So I forced myself to not exactly be optimistic, but... realistic. And realistically, for now, there was a people struggling to survive, and another people that needed freedom, and I wanted to help them.

tab With a crunched up face and gaping mouth the Sylph leaned over Kaileer, narrowly avoiding pressing herself against his back in the process. Wearing a proper night shift, as she'd been want to do for the last few months after being reminded for the upteenth time that it wasn't appropriate to be nude, she made efforts to avoid direct contact against anyone. Though it remained difficult to say if this really began from the point of that scolding or when she became physical, as the latter still remained a mystery yet to be explained. tab Placing a steaming mug in front of the tired commander Fiorzia took the silvered spoon and stirred the contents carefully, releasing the sweet scent of chocolate into the air. Eyes paler than a winter sky twinkled merrily as she released it to stand erect once more, her expression becoming slightly more grumpy when she opened her mouth to speak and realized she couldn't. Sighing, she gestured to her throat, then her eyes, and then mimicked the shape of antlers around her skull with thumbs to her temples and fingers splayed out like a crown. Waggling it back and forth and strutting around as if she was a fearful idiot, she straightened and gesturing with one hand on her hip and the other outwards towards everyone else, she began tapping her foot waiting for an answer. It was clear she expected Kaileer to understand that she was looking for Shea, her go-to for speech since his voice settled with her easily, though whether he truly got it was difficult to say. tab As she awaited a response she turned her eyes hastily to the map of the region on the table, though she just as hastily.

Startled by the suddenly close presence of the sylph, I sat up straight again, turning to look at Fiorzia. Ever since that very first day, she'd avoided all forms of physical contact, despite crying into my side when she thought I was going to die, so the near contact was just as surprising as her appearing almost out of nowhere. "When did you even wake up?" I asked, glancing at the discarded blanket in the corner. Of course, I didn't expect a response from her; she hadn't borrowed a voice from anyone in at least the past few hours. Given she was pretty much always nearby, I knew from experience whatever voice she borrowed lasted a couple of hours at best. My gaze shifted to the mug she placed in front of me, brow furrowing slightly at the scent that rose from it. "And when the hell did we get chocolate?" To be honest I was surprised I recognized the smell, considering how long it had been since the last time I'd had any. Maybe a new merchant had come by and sold some. I could only imagine it cost a pretty sum.
Chocolate wasn't my go-to for sweets, but the sugary and hot treat was welcome after so long tasting mostly dried meat and vegetables. Taking the warm mug carefully in both hands, I watched the sprite as she splayed her hands on either side of her head. Shea. She was looking for the strange, antlered boy, more than likely so she could borrow his voice again. I frowned, pausing half way to taking a drink of the hot cocoa. "I'm not sure how you expect me to know where he is when I've been in here most of the day." It wasn't like I regularly sought him out, and probably hadn't actively seen him in like a week. I raised the cup the rest of the way, gulping down a mouthful before continuing. "If I had to wager a guess, probably either in the market or at his home."
Setting the cup back down, I followed her eyes as she glanced at the map, though she pretended she hadn't and looked away again. If there was an issue, I wasn't sure why she didn't just point it out. After this long, I could understand her hand gestures fairly well, so the voice wasn't entirely necessary. "You know there are plenty of girls here now, right? You don't have to keep using him."

tab Shrugging her shoulders, a small smile playing across her lips, the Sylph turned slightly and sat on the table so she could look down at him. She gestured to her throat with a heart shape, the impression that it felt nice before she shrugged again. Was there a need to explain? She had her preferences, same as most people did. Her's just came from the voices of others. In some ways the voices were like meals to her. If she tasted another voice it was like fine dining, something she couldn't really explain in the common sense as there was no flavor. She'd tried to explain many times previously but always failed. How could one explain their love of breathing, or feeling the cool air on your skin, or how the warmth of someone against your chest was warmer than any blanket? Simply impossible. Sighing she gestured at the cup and held the fingers of one hand close together, indicating there wasn't much, but she then moved her hands towards him and rubbed them together, as one might with a fine spice. It was worth it to her to give him some, all of it, because of...well, she didn't explain that before gesturing at the map with a sad expression. tab Did they have to go out there? Did they have to explore? tab She hadn't left the settlement, not once, since Kaileer had taken over. She avoided leaving, and avoided letting him do so either. She was afraid, that much was certain, but she'd failed to ever explain why. Of what, or who? Instead she remained quiet about such things and would become wind before fleeing from such questions. Still she cocked her head at him, waiting a response to a question she'd hardly asked.
I walked into a large assortment of buildings that seemed to be put together somewhat hastily. I went past a wall with a couple of jobs listings. I stopped there for a second and gave them a cursory view but nothing popped out for me. I went through one last door and saw a person that seemed to be guarding a door and saw the secretary, whom I approached and said: “Yo, I’m new around here, I’m trying to figure out who’s **** I need to suck to be able to stay and be safe. The world out there is whack, and I would like some peace.”

The pale-skinned girl sitting at the makeshift desk looked up from the book in front of her, red eyes peering from behind windswept white hair. Needless to say, she looked displeased by the crude interruption. Sitting up straighter, she looked the stranger up and down, and somehow seemed to look down at him despite having to raise her chin to look at him. "An attitude like that is definitely going to get you far," she commented, and snapped her book shut, holding a finger between the pages so as not to lose her spot. Rising to her feet, the thin girl who must have barely been a teenager stepped toward the door. "Your name?" she asked without looking back at him, and then knocked sharply on the thick wooden doors to the office. She paused a moment as if unsure the knocks were actually loud enough. Finally, though, she turned to face the stranger once more, book clasped between her hands in front of her, and waited for an answer.
Hearing her made my face turned red with embarrassment. She seemed to be just a child, a small child, and I was using such crude language. I laughed out of nerves, and put my hand behind my head. “I apologize. I haven’t been in polite company in… well, since I woke up. Being out there, alone, puts the edge on, you know?” I said as a form of apology, but had the sense that it wouldn’t be enough. Regardless, however, I would not beg for her forgiveness or anything, I didn’t know her, and I frankly didn’t know if I would be staying here, if I would be allowed to stay, or if they had anything for me to do here that I would honestly enjoy. I crossed my arms, looked down at her, cleared my throat and said: “My name is Taiki Matsumaya. I am- or rather, used to be, from the Land of Stone. I’ve been roaming these lands, and frankly have no idea where I am, so any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated.” I explained my situation to her in hopes that it would make her opinion of me soften at least a little, but I very much doubted that it would work.

I sighed, letting the issue go. Shea was nice enough to let her use him, so as long as he was fine with it there was nothing that could be done. Though the kid could probably warm up an entire room with how red his face got every time Fiorzia 'borrowed his voice'. In the end it was an innocent act; I honestly wasn't sure if the sylph even understood the implication behind the action. Sometimes she had knowledge of human nature and chose to play coy, and other times she honestly didn't know.
As far as the chocolate, my best guess was that a 'passing' merchant had some, and, sweets being desirable in an otherwise bland meal, some was bought. That was honestly how we got most of what we had. Food wasn't necessarily an issue, but it wasn't all that appetizing, so we tried to improve on it buy buying from merchants. So far we'd managed to stay in the positive as far as money went, but we had to be careful. And no merchant really just 'passed' through. We were at the end of the line before Tsukihara, the only way besides an old highway in or out. Unless a merchant was after some rare items only found in the city, or they were dealing with the Yokai as well, no one just 'passed' through. In fact, to avoid danger, we'd all but stopped anyone heading up the mountain outside of scouting parties. There was just too much of a risk when our population was so small.
Fiorzia's expression turned sad as she looked over the map, seeming to yet again understand what I was thinking. This world was dangerous, and it wasn't just because of the Yokai. We'd seen monsters, too. We lost a few people to them building up the town, but thankfully had made those numbers up. Since the walls went up, we'd avoided any further attacks. But everyone was growing restless. Myself especially, since I hardly got to leave the safety of the walls. Partially because I had to keep track of everything, but mostly because Fiorzia wouldn't let me. I wasn't sure what exactly she was afraid of; she always refused to explain. Just that every time I tried to leave, she found a way to stop me. She knew as well as I did, though, that couldn't go on forever.
I opened my mouth to respond to her, but there was a knock on the door that caused me to pause. That must have been Maona. "Sorry, looks like duty calls again," I said with a half-hearted smirk. Pushing myself to my feet, I took another long drink of the hot cocoa and headed for the door.
Pulling open the side opposite the one the young secretary normally stood beside, I glanced out into the lobby space, and then over to her. One person, someone I didn't recognize, who stood beside her desk. Black hair, red eyes, he was a few inches taller than me--I couldn't stop the frown that accompanied that realization; you'd think I would be used to it after living with the Stragari--and a bit on the slim side. Definitely not a current member of the hub, but potentially there for shelter. "Taiki Matsumaya here to speak with you, Kaileer," Maona announced, and then retreated to her seat, flipping open the book she'd been engrossed in all day.
My gaze turned back to the stranger, and I shoved the door open the rest of the way. "Come on in," I offered, and then headed back for my own desk, resting against the front of it. Glancing at Fiorzia, I watched her to see what she would do, and spoke to the newcomer. Taiki, as Maona had introduced him. "I don't recognize you," I started, "so I assume you're new here, yeah? What can I do for you?"

I was looking away from the door and around the room the secretary inhabited to inspect it more closely, my abrupt entry didn’t give me time to get acquainted with my surroundings, although it wasn’t much to look at. The male voice caught me by surprise; my eyes jumped from whatever wall my mind had wandered to and onto the man on the other side of the wooden door. He was just a bit shorter than me, nothing too impressive, but I could see his body was much more toned than mine, he must have been about twenty pounds lighter than me, but he was almost pure muscle, as I once had been, but the lack of nutrition in these last few months had eaten away at my figure. My lips parted into a smile when he invited me in and promptly followed his orders.
As I walked into the office, I saw the sprite within, it was of a kind I had never encountered before, but it sent a shiver down my spine. Sprite or Yokai, a spirit was a spirit, and they had been the bane of my existence, the source of my three month long decent into the hell that was this new world. However, I tried hard to not let this man see how much it unsettled me. “I see not even the walls of this place are enough to keep those things out.” The comment escaped me with a sigh and a shake of my head. “No matter.” I added quickly, catching myself and my lapse of manners once again. I closed my eyes and put my left index and thumb on the bridge of my nose and breathed in deeply before my crimson eyes opened again and met the stranger’s green ones. “My name is Taiki Matsumaya, and I am indeed new here. It’s a pleasure to meet you…” I introduced myself and extended my pale hand in order to shake the strangers, and hoping that he would offer his name in exchange for mine. The fact that he had an office led me to believe that he was the one in charge here, a little young, but at the same time so was I, so I could not judge.
“I’m looking for a place where I can lay my head down and not worry about being killed in my sleep, mostly. I gave a cursory glance at the board you had outside with the job listing and I’m afraid I don’t think any of them will be a good fit, so I don’t really know how I’m going to repay you for whatever hospitality you chose I’m worth. I used to be a fighter. A hunter, if you will, but after experiencing what life is like from the other side of the hunter-prey equation, I don’t think I have much of a taste for that lifestyle anymore.” I took a short pause to collect my thoughts and measure my words. “I’m just a bit war-weary, if you will. Fighting for ones survival every day is much like a war, though I don’t know if you ever had the misfortune of experiencing one. But that doesn’t matter.” I crossed my arms then and looked at the Sylph once again, this time with less disdain than the first one, but my dislike for her was still noticeable. “I guess all I’m looking for is a place where I can have a warm meal and recharge before I set back out into the world to explore some more, I don’t know anything about you, or about this place, but it’s the safest, most civilized I have been in since I woke up, so beggars can’t be choosers.”

I glanced at Fiorzia again at the stranger's remark, watching her cheeks puff up in annoyance. I couldn't decide whether to scowl at his brashness or grin at the indignant look the sylph gave, so I settled for neither and instead remained neutral. I couldn't really judge him anyway; many of the people who had come to the town had bad run-ins with yokai, and most didn't know the difference between sprites and fades. So seeing something that could be equated a monster here of all places was probably discomforting. And while Taiki did his best to hide his nerves, his words spoke of the same experience as most. Hell, my journey wasn't much better. Right out of the chrysalis I was chased by a powerful yokai and separated from friends... only one of whom I had seen since. The only reason I trusted Fiorzia was because of everything we'd been through up to that point. More than that, she needed me for something. And to be honest I needed her just as much. "She's safe, don't worry." A small smile touched my lips. "A bit mischievous, but I trust her with my life."
Admitting it was strange. She knew that as well as I did, but I'd never said it aloud. There were a lot of conversations we'd had over the last three months without ever speaking a word. A unique bond, sure, but a strong one. It wasn't something I could really explain.
"Kaileer Cein'lys," I offered, taking the young man's extended hand firmly in my own before releasing it again. I was always a bit leery, but at the same time curious, giving my name. Some people recognized it, some didn't. But still, the fact that several centuries in the future I ran into people who recognized me as the former Raikage of Kumogakure was a weird concept I still hadn't been able to wrap my head around. It also brought about thoughts I preferred not to think.
I listened quietly while Taiki explained his situation. Before he was taken by the curse, he was a 'hunter', but he wasn't used to being the hunted. The last three months had truly tested that. So he wanted a place he could sleep for a while before, potentially, continuing on his journey to wherever. 'War-weary', he called it. A phrase that stuck. "Trust me when I say I understand." I'd been fighting for a long time before this, after all. It was a way of life that never seemed to... stop. Which perhaps led to my mental state as it was then. "Well, we won't turn away anyone looking for a safe haven. The people here have worked hard to make it what it is now. We're just under one hundred strong, but we've managed to hold our own despite the yokai."
Pushing myself off the desk, I circled around behind it, looking down at the map stretched under a piece of glass that topped it. "If you're looking just to stay for a few days, we've got a pretty decent inn in the Market District." I gestured to the first ring of buildings on map of the town. "That's the first area you passed on the way here if you came from the south gate. You'll want to talk to Yuzuki there. He's young but weirdly charismatic. He'll get you set up with a good meal and a bed. Let him know I sent you, and you can stay a couple of days for free." My gaze returned to Taiki. "If you're looking for something a bit more permanent, Maona out in the lobby can see if we have an apartment or a house available. The only stipulation is that we ask everyone pull their own weight if they want to live here. If that means finding a new profession, or just taking requests from the mission board, so be it. Any questions?"

I crossed my arms and listened to Kaileer. He trusted this spirit with his life? I raised my eyebrow almost instinctively. I wonder what those two had been through, and all it did was throw my mind into a loop. What exactly did the future hold for us in this brave new world? Humans and sprites dating? Perhaps that was a thought better reserved for another time. “I’ll just have to take your word for it.” I said drily. From there, I moved away from him and leaned against one of the nearby walls, never taking my eyes off him again. “I guess I’m not sure if I’m really looking to stay, or just passing by. I need some time to recuperate, get my bearings, you know?” I said that and made a face. It seemed like he wanted me to make a decision now, but I didn’t know this place, and I didn’t know him, so I did not feel comfortable reaching any sort of decision. “Truth is, I don’t know you, or this place, so I don’t know if I want to stay permanently or will just be passing by, but for the duration that I do remain, I promise that I’ll find a way to make myself useful. It’s the least I could do for the hospitality.” I hoped this would be enough for Kaileer, but somehow, I didn’t think it would be. I know it wouldn’t have been enough for me if I was in his shoes, funny enough. At the same time though, I guess that’s why I was never meant to lead, I wasn’t very good at realizing what other’s needs were. Some would call that empathizing. I would call it being a chump. “Although, I do have to say that some of the jobs at the board seem… Not that appealing. How about I come back in a couple of days after exploring the city and give you my final decision?” I hoped that resolution would be amenable to the green eyes man, it might have been something that I, in his shoes, would reluctantly agree to, I just hope his reluctance won’t be to palpable, or else our relationship might sour sooner rather than later.
