The farmlands which provide the vast majority of the growable foods for the citizens of the Sanctuary, are nestled up against the walls of the city well within their sight both for protection against attacks and to prevent theft. Within the fields is a rotating supply of barley and turnips. While the turnips are mainly used for food, the barley is used almost exclusively for the production of beer.
