Zhi was thankfully lighter than what Obei had been expecting. Most people were a lot heavier than they appear and she normally underestimated the force she would be carrying. The blue haired spunky little rebel told her to qualm any worries she had about anything befalling Sandayu. Not like Obei would care much anyway. They had a fairly shaky relationship and she only followed orders since he was connected with Kagami. Even if Zhi stuck a sword through his gut she would be hard pressed to shed any tears for the man. "It okay. Obei trust Blue Hair Girl." They continued up the mountain in search of the fabled Sandayu and soon enough, in the middle of her 322nd step, they were pulled into an endless abyss where darkness swallowed them whole. They came across a sand filled plateau overlooking a desert of some kind where the temperatures were much warmer than what they had been before. Standing before them was Sandayu with his usual expression of slight disappointment. Zhi was the first one to begin the conversation and with good reason. Obei certainly wasn't in a talkative mood.

She made it quickly clear that her skills outclasses even Sandayu, dodging and weaving blasts. One even nearly hit the both of them though they teleported out of the way in the nick of time. Then things began to get foggy for poor Obei. Zhi announced she was from a different...time? But she was here. What kind of time would it be then? Was it the same her as their her? This was entirely too confusing as Obei let out another frustrated huff. The reason for this was that although Sandayu did rid the bijuu that had been given to him by Evergreen he had instead, agreed to house powers that she controlled. His ultimate blessing was his downfall. A slight smirk came across Obei's lips. How fitting of a punishment. Unfortunately this would just be a minor setback in the grand scheme of things. They were all just pawns of a much bigger chess board and blah blah blah. Obei watched Zhi curiously. Something about how they way she moved around, that blue head of hair. How colorful she was. It made her a bit envious. Was it envy? It felt like her insides were churning. Her heating beating a little faster when she sat on top of her shoulders again. Maybe it was anger? But a different kind. It was strange. Very strange.

Obei watched as Zhi would bid her farewell, offering a gentle nod of her own as the girl vanished into thin air. Sandayu looked about as pleased as he usually was. So not that much. He looked at her and gave her a decision to make. Support Kogarashi or leave. She huffed and would slowly walk towards the portal before stopping. Her eyes met his as she stared for a solid second before making her way back through.

__ Sandayu sighed again after Obei departed. Watching her, he came to understand the very different methods between how Kagami and himself did things. Deceit and apathy didn't seem too far from each other when considering that both he and his wife had people they invested trust in who did or probably would abandon them. then took a moment to communicate through the shared senses of his many clones scattered throughout his small realm of reality. They would all confirm that preparations were complete and that they understood the new developments of their situation. Afterward he issued the order to commence the invasion of the supposedly prepared Land of Floods. He'd join their ranks after he went to Kagami. A portal opened to the Kogarashi Institute and he ventured forth. Now was the beginning of the end, in a lot of ways.

Kujaku would do most anything for Shigen, at this point in her life. He saved her, afterall, so a little solo mission shouldn’t be too much of a problem. A field trip to the Sage Lands, where her, him, and Tsubaki would try to form a contract with the summoning beasts. The blue haired Genin knew that her sense was going after the crows; he talked about it often in the way that he does. They’re the best Genjutsu users around, it’d make sense to have them as an ally. He would say during the briefing. That level of forethought made Kujaku give some serious thought to who she wanted to contract with also. And, while she had no idea who Tsubaki was going to go for, the Genin only had herself to worry about. Who would be the best fit for a ninja that worked in long range combat? She found herself contemplating. The most important thing would be to be efficient, in the ninja world. Ways to take out multiple opponents on a massive scale in a nigh guaranteed manner. Soon Kujaku came to her conclusion, it wasn’t hard with just a little bit of thought.

Her hand crushed a brightly colored mushroom as the girl tried to climb a much larger version of the fungi, forcing her to fall down dozens of feet. Kujaku reached out and with an effort of will, sent energy coursing through her fingertips. She slid down the stalk of one of the giant mushrooms native to the Rainbow Forest, the home of the Giant Salamanders. Dozens of feet further down, and more frustrated for it, Kujaku let out a sigh. “At least I didn’t crash…” She mumbled to herself. After a moment she looked up to where she had been and saw that the air around there was filled with a cloud of yellow spores. “Just great…” she let out a tired look as the Genin sighed again. She needed to get back up; she could practically see the top! But that poison was going to be a challenge for her, as the girl just couldn’t breeze right through them. “Or can’t I…?” Kujaku pondered for a second. Then her face lit up like a beam as an idea struck her. Placing her hands together she hopped off from the stalk and her fingers slid together to form a rather simple hand sign, her index and middle fingers pressed together.. The blue haired ninja only fell a few more feet down before the chakra she was focusing on formed wind currents that slowed her descent. Kujaku hovered in the air for a second as a small surge of pride rose within her. While she knew the practice of this jutsu, she’d never really had much use for it until now. “Fuuton: Shunshin!” She exclaimed just before she increased the chakra flow. The wind spiraled around her before shooting her up into the air and blowing away the cloud of spores before she even had the chance to breathe them in.

Kujaku shot into the air and propelled her body up the stalk of the mushroom! The girl enjoyed the feeling of the wind blowing through her hair; it always reminded her that she was free. Finally free… Slowly she would open her eyes and look down to see that… she’d completely overshot the mushroom cap! “Nonononono!!” She flailed about as she came crashing down on top of the fungus. She tucked her shoulder in and rolled and the softness of the mushroom cushioning her fall further. However, despite that. Kujaku still landed in a sitting position. The girl’s head lolled around as she was overcome with a wave of dizziness and her eyes seemed as if they were replaced with spirals. “Uhhhh, kid?” A small voice that was nasally in quality snapped Kujaku back to normal with a pop. The girl looked down and almost couldn’t believe her eyes! A salamander! A living, breathing...talking Salamander.

Wait… “Talking?!” Kujaku yelled out in shock. The Genin scrambled back a few feet on all fours and looked at the lizard. Most of its features were like a normal salander: a long reptilian body that was red with yellow spots. A head that was slightly wider than its body, with four legs and three stubby toes on each foot. The main difference was the flak jacket it was wearing, the same kind Kujaku had seen on Jonin back home, that carried some kind of scroll. Oh… and that he could freaking talk.

“Yeah, I can talk.” It said, as if the very notion was normal and that she was the crazy one. “It’s normal for us salamanders in the Rainbow Forest. Anyway, I saw what you did to get up here. Preeeetty good moves to avoid those spores. And awfully convenient that you can fly like that. Wind Element, right?” As Kujaku watched, the Salamander’s eyes darted up and, in the blink of an eye, its tongue lashed out. The girl could barely make sight of a small fly before it disappeared into the creature's mouth. “So whatdaya want, kid? What’s your name? The name’s Sanshōuo, of the Rainbow Rainforest.”

“Ku...Kujaku. Kujaku Inuharu.” She rose to her feet and patted herself down, to get any loose spores off of her clothing. “I’m here because I would like to sign the Summoning contract with your Boss.”

Salamander Contract Posts:2/5

“You..?” Sanshōuo started to tear up as his cheeks puffed out, like he was holding back laughter. “A squirt like you wants to summon us?”

Yeah, look who’s talking… Kujaku bit her tongue but gave the salamander a very tired look.

The red salamander burst into a peal of laughter, rolling around on the mushroom as water flooded from his eyes. “I-I like you, you got guts.” He rubbed the tears from his eyes and rolled back on to his feet. “Alright, I’ll take ya to the boss.” Kujaku’s face lit up; she had no idea it would be this easy! “On one condition,” he added, holding up one stubby toe. There’s that other shoe. Kujaku’s face fell as her body slumped. “I can’t just be taking anyone to go see Lord Ibuse, especially not some squirt. So… here’s what I’m gonna do.” Slowly, Sanshōuo turned around with his back to the Genin. “If you can catch me, then I’ll take you to him.”

“Wow, sure sounds easy enough.” Yeah, almost too easy.

Sanshōuo had a smirk grow on his face and gave Kujaku a prideful look. “If you think so, then just try! Readysetgo!” In the blink of an eye the salamander was gone! Literally! Kujaku was just barely able to make out the red blur as he ran away and further into the forest.

“Wait, hold on I wasn’t ready!” Kujaku stumbled a step or two before she managed to set out into a sprint. She could only rely on what her sensory memory told her about the red blur as she followed behind. That dang lizard sure was dang fast, but thankfully Kujaku had longer legs. She was able to catch up just enough to see Sanshōuo sprinting ahead of her, but not fast enough to truly catch up. Maybe she shouldn't rely on pure speed; all she had to do was catch him. “That’s it!” she exclaimed and she quickly pressed her hands together. Her fingers weaved an intricate string of seals as she focused chakra from her body. The wind whipped her hair around her face before she yelled out “Fuuton: Wind Retrieval!” A gust of wind blew out from Kujaku’s body and circled ahead and around the salamander, picking it up off of the ground.

“Well that wasn’t so hard!” Kujaku grinned brightly as the salamander wriggled and spun around in the air. He tried his best to escape the torment of the wind current but to no avail. “You sure are fast though, Mister Sanshōuo!” She leaned in with that wide, proud grin stretching her face from ear to ear. “So are you gonna take me to your boss now?”

“Yeah, yeah! Just put me down!” Kujaku released the jutsu and the little salamander fell to the ground. He indignantly looked at the Genin with a pouting look before he led her into the forest. As they walked, a crashing boom could be heard echoing through the Rainbow Rainforest. “You’re gonna wanna be quick.” Sanshōuo said over his shoulder. “Sounds like Shiromari is on another rampage.” Kujaku shivered at the thought of whatever could cause such a ruckus and quickened her pace to match the little lizard. As the duo made their way through the Rainforest, Kujaku saw sights that took her breath away. Almost literally as she had to avoid breathing in toxic spores. Namely the environment was so beautiful. Having spent most of her life in captivity, Kujaku never would have guessed such a place even existed. The forest really lived up to its name of rainbow. The light filtering down from the skylight was glistening off of the different colored leaves and branches really made the wood and foliage look like gemstones. Kujaku even got to see some more salamanders, different from Sanshōuo! First one was this larger red female with a scarf and eyepatch. The three got to talk a little (her name was Kitokage) and she seemed really interested in the Genin. She even laughed at Sanshōuo when she found out the girl caught the little guy. He pouted again and they kept going to see the next one. A two headed one with wings that Kujaku almost swore was a dragon. They didn’t get introduced as it flew away, but Sanshōuo said her name (names?) was (were?) Mei Mei.

Summoning Contract: 4/5

It was a few minutes after that Kujaku was introduced to the center of the forest. There, sitting on a large rock in the middle of the glistening sunlight, was the biggest freaking salamander...no, the biggest animal Kujaku had ever seen! “Lord Ibuse!” Sanshōuo bowed his little head and closed his eyes as he addressed the giant lizard. “I bring someone who wishes to make a contract with us!” Lord Ibuse seemed to stir, and the young Genin took a few moments to really take his appearance. Most of the giant salamander’s body was black, so black that it reminded Kujaku of what she imagined obsidian to look like. There were craggly lines that traveled around his body that glowed a dull orange. It almost made him look like an obsidian sculpture with lava inside. One of Ibuse’s eyes cracked open and Kujaku could see her reflection in the orb; how could she not when the eyeball was as big as she was? In the giant’s eyes, the girl could really see how awestruck she looked. How nervous she looked. How small she looked. Ibuse didn’t say anything, but he didn’t have to. He was sizing Kujaku up, deeming her worthy to join the Salamanders of the Rainbow Rainforest. Kujaku could hear Sanshōuo chuckle a little. “Don’t worry so much, kid. He does this to every applicant. Which I think is good so far.” The little lizard was nervous, she could tell. “Usually he just spews poison everywhere.”

As if on cue, the Genin could hear wind rushing in vast quantities. Her attention snapped back to see the giant Ibuse with his head pulled back and taking in a large amount of air into his lungs. “No no, Lord Ibuse! Please wait for me to leeeeeeave!!” Sanshōuo seemed to freak out before zipping off in a random direction. Seemingly anywhere but here. Ibuse let out a ground rumbling exhale and a massive cloud of dark blue and purple mist came flowing from his gullet. Kujaku knew what to do, but she wasn’t sure how she knew. Maybe that moment of eye contact with the boss Summon helped her connect with him somehow? Who knew. But all she did know was that she had to fight back! She wasn’t sure what she could do, but she was going to try! As fast as she could manage, the blue haired Genin weaved a series of handseals and ended on tiger, the symbol for fire! “Katon: Great Fireball!” With a call of will, chakra flowed up into her own lungs and started to super heat the air in her chest and throat. It felt scratching and it made her eyes water, but she needed to build it up! Just as the cloud loomed over her was when Kujaku let the jutsu loose! She exhaled her chakra, the energy converting the air into a massive ball of orange fire! It connected with the poison cloud, the wisps of both flowing up as they turned into black smoke.

The embers fell to the ground as Kujaku felt dizzy. She let out a lot of air and also used a lot of chakra. Panting, she looked up at Ibuse who looked no less stoic than as if he’d just blinked. The smoke and the small embers fell around the two, and the whole forest felt still. “Is that all you’ve got?” Kujaku’s vision started to get a little blurry from the constant use of so much chakra. “You wanted me to prove myself, right?” The girl met Ibuse’s solemn gaze with her own that was filled with a fire that wasn’t often seen in the girl. “Then let’s go… agai...n…” Kujaku’s vision went black before she even fell to the ground.

Sometime later, the girl woke up on top of one of the giant mushrooms with a lizard printed blaket covering her. “Gooooood morning, kid!” The cheery voice of Sanshōuo quickly knocked the remaining grogginess from the Genin. On the ground between the two of them was the small scroll that he had been carrying. “So good job not running away from Lord Ibuse!” Kujaku quietly looked up to see the boss summon looking at her with the same soulful gaze as before. She could hear Sanshōuo talking, but it sounded like it was far away as the blue haired girl stared at the giant. “So anyway, he’s decided that we will take you on as the new contract holder. But you were asleep soooo… I signed your name for you!” The girl looked down. The scroll listed the way to properly cast the summoning, the blood and the signs. And, in a circle of script was simply her name: Kujaku Inuharu. “That part was easy so we took the liberty of doing it for you. We just need the handprint and you’ll be all set!” Kujaku quietly nodded and bit her thumb. Hard. The blood that seeped out felt warm and filled her mouth with the taste of copper. The young girl spread it around on her left palm before carefully pressing her handprint on the paper.

And with that, the contract was signed.

“Sage Mode…?” Kujaku asked with a confused blink. She was still sitting on the mushroom with the blanket over her legs, but she felt much less tired. In front of her was a bowl filled to the edge with various multicolored fruit that Sanshōuo swore up and down wasn’t poisonous. The girl’s chakra was almost back to normal, nor did she feel as fatigued from the climb from earlier.

“Yeah! Every contract Summoner knows how to do it!” Kitokage, the salamander with the eyepatch, said excitedly. The lizard beamed at the Genin as the human girl took a bite from a purple fruit with red spots. “It’s a little something that happens to the physical body when you combine your normal chakra with Nature Chakra!” There was a moment of brief pause and Kujaku gave Kitokage a blank look. It took the salamander a second of looking at the Genin with narrowed eyes before it dawned on her. With a loud gasp that even stirred Ibuse from his nap, and eyes wider than the fruit in the bowl, she leaned in really close to Kujaku. “You don’t know what Nature Chakra is?!”

“No ma’am, I haven’t.” Kujaku looked at Kitokage with an eyebrow raised look of curiosity.

“Oh no no no, that just won’t do!” Kujaku was suddenly hoisted to her feet by the larger salamander. “Our contract holder just can’t not know about Nature Chakra! Lord Ibuse!” Kitokage turned her one good eye to the lord of salamanders as she pushed Kujaku around, who decided to not fight back. “May I have permission to teach Kujaku about Nature Chakra?” As if it were a response, the sleepy Ibuse let out a body vibrating grunt and turned his body away from the two. “Yesssss!” Kitokage hissed with enthusiasm. “Follow me!”

“But you’re pushing me…” The Genin whined.

Sage Mode Training: 1 of 5

“See, it really is quite simple.” Kitokage started explaining as she brushed aside a blanket of hanging leaves and led Kujaku into a hole in a mushroom stalk that was just big enough for them to walk through. The small corridor was dark and tight fit and immediately a panic started to overcome Kujaku. Sweat drops, cold as ice, stuck to her clothes and she could feel her breath coming in quicker and shorter. Her pulse raced and pumped blood through her at a million miles a second while she looked around in a near panic. Kujaku hated enclosed spaces and darkness on their own. But together? It was an absolute nightmare.

She was about to pull away and turn back when Kitokage reached out for her hand and wrapped her three stubby fingers around Kujaku’s five normal ones. Instantly the girl could feel a kind of warmth enter her body and slowly the fear dissipated. “Nature Chakra really is exactly as it sounds.” The female salamander’s voice echoed in the darkness, soothing as it came from in front. “The chakra that you attune yourself to as a shinobi is just one facet of the energy of the world. It’s the energy that resides within you and other living beings, right?” Kujaku nodded quietly even though Kitokage couldn’t see her. “Well.” As Kitokage went on, she brushed aside another blanket of leaves, immediately letting in a wave of light. “Wouldn’t the world be considered just one big living being? It stands to reason that something like that would have its own source of energy.”

As Kitokage continued to talk, Kujaku looked around at the new clearing they were in. It was the most beautiful part of the forest, and definitely the most breathtaking place she’d ever seen in her life. Or would ever see again. The trees and mushrooms all had a white base that gleamed in the glistening sunlight, almost if they were made of marble. A flowing waterfall of purple water flowed into a basin that trickled off of the sides of the yellow mushroom cap that the two now stood on. And there was this feeling, a hum of...something that tickled at the back of Kujaku’s senses that made the hair on her arms stand up. “You can feel that, can you?” Kitokage asked with a small smirk. “Even a young, relatively inexperienced ninja like yourself is able to feel the vast energy of nature. Many creatures from every part of the Sage Lands, no matter the species, use such chakra to power our techniques.”

“So then how do I use it?” Kujaku finally found her voice as she continued to watch the purple water flow. Kitkage continued to push the Genin towards the water.

“On paper it’s easy.” She said. “You’ll need to sit in this water.” She made a gesture to the pond. “This water is a natural well of Nature Chakra, carrying it through the Rainforest. There are dozens of ponds like this, but this one is special. See, while each species has the same principle, we all do it a little differently and salamanders are no exception. While we sit in the water and absorb the natural flow of Nature Chakra, this pond is the only one that has sunlight filtering down from above. And the warmth of that light offers us steady calmness and the warmth of the earth from above, while we absorb the ever flowing energy from below.” As Kitokage spoke, her eyes closed and it seemed like she was letting out a slow breath.

“But you said on paper it was easy.” Kujaku finally responded. “But that makes it sound like there’s something I need to be worried about.” She turned her body from the glistening amethyst of a pond to the salamander. “So what do I need to worry about?”

There was a pause as Kitokage seemed to contemplate her answer, a small hum escaping her throat which seemed to swell a little. “Well, Nature Chakra is much different than the chakra you’ve attuned yourself too. While taking it in allows for greater power, if you don’t balance it with your natural reserves,” She turned to look at the girl then, a stern look in her good eye. While she was shorter than Kujaku, Kitokage seemed to make herself seem larger than life right at this moment. “You could die, turned into the very earth you’re trying to take energy from.”

Sage Mode Training: 2 of 5

“Turned to stone!?” Kujaku yelled, disrupting the peaceful silence of the clearing she was in. Kitogane didn’t answer and instead just looked at the girl. She was silent, but the stare she was giving the ninja spoke volumes, and it was obvious to Kujaku what the lizard was asking. Was this something she was capable of? The Genin needed to get stronger, that much was true. She needed to repay Shigen-sensei for saving her by being as strong and as useful as she could be. And Kujaku needed to make sure she was never taken back to that life. Living in captivity, being traded, and beaten, and starved, and...and...and… It was never going to happen, never again. Kujaku nodded. “I’ll do it.”

“Good.” Kitokage said. Then she nodded to the girl. “Strip.”

“...” Kujaku was stunned into silence for a moment. Her jaw dropped and it was like she could feel it hit the ground. “S-strip?!”

“You need to sit in the water, dear, and your clothes will just get soggy. Besides, they’ll keep your body from truly absorbing the flow of Nature Chakra.”

“Alright…” Kujaku seemed skeptical, but hesitantly removed her clothes. She placed them gently on the ground before she went into the purple water. It was cold against her bare skin and, like most times when someone entered water, it only got colder the more she went in. The Genin could feel herself start to shiver and crossed her arms around her torso. “N-n-n-n-now w-wh-what?” Kujaku stammered.

“You need to meditate, Kuja!” Kitokage yelled out with her hand cupped to her mouth. “But you gotta sit your smokin’ bod into the water first!” Kujaku blushed and immediately sat down as far as she could go with the water coming up just around the middle of her neck, her long blue hair floating on the water’s surface.. “And don’t worry if you don’t feel anything yet! That’ll happen for the first few days!”

“Days?!” Kujaku yelled as she jumped back to her feet, splashing water all around her.

Sage Mode Training: 3 of 5

It was now day...whatever. It was hard to tell in the Rainbow Rainforest because everything around was so bright, the girl could never know when it was night time. But she’d remained seated in the chakra water, absorbing its contents. Just like Kitokage said, for the first few days the girl felt nothing. Nothing except cold, anyway. Kitokage the salamander was watching her...sort of. She was there at the edge of the pond, laying down with a manga opened up on the ground in front of her. For a little bit she’d let out a laugh that distracted Kujaku on the first few days. But now there wasn’t anything to take her focus from the energy she was feeling. It welled up inside the Genin and, in a word, it felt sublime. The energy of the world flowing into her, giving her life! The blue haired ninja started to not want to move! To stay in this spot, in this pond, in this moment, forever! To feel the embrace of the enticing energy of mother nature itself!

Even while deep in her meditative thoughts, Kujaku could hear yelling. But it sounded far away and it felt so miniscule, like whatever was wrong didn’t need to be worried about. The girl could feel a smile form on her face, small and warm and kind, as she continued to absorb the energy. “Kuja!”

Suddenly something hard clobbered the ninja on the head! The impact knocked her headfirst back into the water, her legs sticking out from the surface. Quickly she sat up, and a look of pure anger on her face and a lump the size of a baseball on her head. “What was that for?!” She yelled, angry at whoever took her away from the feeling of serenity she was feeling. Before her, standing on the water, was Kitkage. She was holding what looked like a wooden club with the handle in one hand and the head in the other. The look on her face was stern, but deep down Kujaku could see the worry.

“Kuja, you can’t just absorb Nature Chakra and be done with it. You need to mingle it in with your own chakra, or you’ll lose yourself. See?” The salamander gestured at Kujaku’s body with the club, which focused the girl’s gaze on herself. She gasped as she looked down in shock as what looked like a coating of stone slowly faded down her legs and down to her feet before disappearing. “You’ll need to start over dear. This club removes all Nature Chakra from a person, for this very reason.” With a sudden heavy weight of the reality that was the danger of this trainer, Kujaku sat back in the water and began to meditate again.

Sage Mode Training: 4 of 5

Kujaku definitely had no idea what time it was. How long had she even been meditating? Days? Weeks? Months even? She wasn’t sure. The Genin had had to start over a few times from the beginning, as the girl had still found herself not mixing the balance of chakras perfectly. The water didn’t feel cold anymore. It didn’t feel anymore. What had been at least a constant pressure on her bareskin was gone, and it was replaced only by the feeling of energy entering and passing through her body. That was something Kujaku had started to notice after an eternity of meditation: that it was easier to allow the energy to pass through, instead of trying to force it into a container. Maybe that was how Nature Chakra worked, as it does in nature itself. Allow it to do as it pleased and the power would come. Try to force it and you’d only ruin a good thing.

“Kuja, dear…” Kitokage’s voice made the Genin open her eyes slowly. She felt almost in a trance now, one that allowed her to feel the very vibrations of the flow of chakra itself. It pulsated through Kujaku, through Kitokage, through the water down below into a smaller stream where a small rabbit would start to drink from it. Wait, how did she know that? “Kujaku, look at yourself.” Kitokage’s breathless voice caught the girl’s attention and she did as instructed. She rose from the water, the purple liquid dripping from her naked form, and looked down. Kujaku gasped as she held her hands out and saw she’d grown talons of some sort. Her fingers were sharp and now violet in color. The purple went down until it faded to a seafoam green on her forearms. Her legs, too, had the same effect from her toes to her knees! “Is this…?” Kujaku turned around and could see a tail had sprouted from the spot just above her butt, the same seafoam green with purple spikes! “Sage...Mode..?” Kujaku looked down to see her reflection in the water. Her once long and bright blue hair was now curled at the ends, and had streaks of purple intertwined in it. And, to top it all off, there was a magenta flower in her hair.

“You did it, Kuja!” Kitokage exclaimed, a wide grin on her proud face. The two cheered and ran to each other, splashing purple water before they held each other's hands. The two laughed as they jumped around in a celebratory fashion.

“I need to go tell Shigen-sensei!” Kujaku exclaimed, a giddy feeling of excitement bubbling within her. The girl raced off from the pond and almost out of the clearing before one thing brought her to a crashing halt.

“Kuja dear,” Kitkage called out. “You forgot your clothes.”

At an undefined point after the Arashi was attacked by Jashinist and the Arashigakure failed in its defence, Lilou chose to go on a journey so to bring her abilities that she saw as lacking up to the next level. It had been only a short while since Lilou had begun traipsing her way through the Rainbow forest, not certain if she really enjoyed the humid environment when considering the warmish clothes she normally wore due to the Arashi’s altitude. She wasn’t exactly comfortable in this environment and had been reduced into removing her scarf and being overly cautious with hydrating herself and attempt to resist the natural bodily function of perspiration... which didn’t make much of anything better. Vibrant colours of the fungi wrapped trees and foliage were very eye catching and was visually stimulating in Lilou’s point of view, putting the potentially poisonous nature of many of the plants they held a great beauty to them that Lilou could appreciate.... albeit from a distance. From an outsiders perspective it might look like she was wandering about aimlessly, which was only partly the truth as she was busy scanning for and homing in on abnormal chakra sources, anything from a slightly experienced genin levels and greater were her goal and any time she found a bigger one she would shift her direction for that as she sought the boss of this place after all.

Despite the choice of aiming for the larger chakra signatures it would happen to turn out that while she walked toward a rather large one, a smaller signature clearly made a B-line toward her. A silent mental groan from the girl did not signal that she’d heard a minor scuff noise and whoosh of something moving rather quickly through the air, Lilou dropping to a lowered crouch as her beret was removed from the top of her head by a blade. What the heck, my hat?! She reflectively signed with annoyance while giving a wide eyed look toward the red/orange, baby blue scarf wearing figure of Kitokage who was recovering from the speedy miss and turning about to face Lilou. “Well looks like you Jutsu failed, won’t give you another opening to use another!” The Salamander warned Lilou in an enthusiastic but warning tone, hopping into the air and zipping toward Lilou before she finished talking, replicating into three before the lunging charge. Lilou didn’t visibly react as she put confidence in one of her pre-set barrier that triggered as one of the Kitokages attacking her, it was unfortunate that it was a replica that hit into the barrier and the real Kitokage dashed past the barrier and shot a large ball of water at the girl.

As the water crashed into her side and splooshed apart with the force of the impact, knocking her sideways and toward the ground before rupturing into paper that would coalesce into a small whirlwind around the Kitokage group. The salamander would look in either direction in an attempt to find an escape and figure what was going on, not quickly enough to realize that this was a setup for a barrier. Upon the barriers completion the joyous trumpet blow of fanfare rang out victoriously, Lilou stepping out from behind a tree with a spring in her step toward Kitokage with a smaller Muppet version of herself at her side to act as a mouthpiece. “Heyyyyy, You are real tricky you know? If Lilou had’t been scanning the area you coulda taken her head off y’know, y’know?” It spoke enthusiastically and rapidly, possibly in what could be a voice very similar to Lilou’s own, clearly impressed with what had transpired and with the salamanders skills, continuing to praise the Salamnder for a few more seconds before getting to the point.... getting to see Ibuse and obtaining a contract.

It didn’t take much to persuade Kitokage to help Lilou meet her superior, being as Lilou agreed to “prove her strength by defeating Ibuse” even if extremely reluctantly and giving the impression of not really wanting to fight anyone. Fleh, she had been following the wrong chakra signature with her original coarse it would appear and apparently have led her straight into the number twos turf which would have certainly led to violence... which seemed to be a trend among this area, Lilou rather expecting a more relaxed nature even if she knew that salamanders were generally predatory creatures. it was probably the fourth time she’d slipped off of the slick environment and land on her buttocks, grimacing and trying to pat the pain away. “Be more careful delicate girl, if you can’t stay on you feet then how are you going to impress the lord of this place?” Kitokage jeered at her as she turned about and continued traveling backward seamlessly, phased not by the unforgiving terrain and making Lilou acutely aware that the other was showing off so as to mock her. Finally arriving at a clearing that revealed a massive grey mass like a hill or mini mountain in the middle of this jungle, dirt and earth split out around its circumference as if it had been dug into place.

“Heyyyyy, Lord Ibuse!!! You awake?” The energetic Salamander would yell at the large mound, Lilou cocking her head and raising a brow as she didn’t immediately realize what was going on. It took a large grumble of sound as the mass began to reverberate for Lilou to catch onto what was happening here, they massive grey object not being a piece of the landscape, artificially positioned or otherwise and was, in fact the biggest living creature Lilou had ever laid her eyes upon. “Ohhh wow!” The Muppet Lilou would say as both of them leant back their heads to take in the full scope of the behemoth before them. As Lilou stared at Ibuse in a silence that went beyond her normal levels as while she looked at it, IT opened its eyes and was also giving her a scrutinizing one over and then peered over to Kitokage whom bowed and spoke again “This one wishes to form a contract with use, says she can prove herself by defeating you, talks real big this one!” The enthusiasm and mild glee in the sideways look the salamander offered Lilou as she spoke, taking off backward after speaking so as to give the other two space with a clear snicker as went. “Uuuurrghhh why you do that?!?” Lilou’s puppet would call disparagingly after the Salamander, soft fist shaking angrily after her as Ibuse began opening its gigantic maw and all air flow in the immediate area shifted directions and made a B-line toward the big guy. Lilou felt the sudden arrival of panic overtake her bewildered annoyance, realizing that this was not going to lead to anything good and having a not so wild guess about what was coming here.

Reducing her body to paper was her only escape at this point, the earthshaking release of blue and purple poisonous gasses being led by a headwind which she used along with some of her chakra and paper form to ride the air out of reach of the smog. Lifting her hands outward as wings of paper kept her aloft in the air, more paper forming up in-front of and multiplying rapidly and forming into something bound to annoy the boss of the Salamanders.... it was, in fact another Ibuse made of paper and basically identical to the real thing.... if it wanted a worthy fight, it could fight itself in her humble opinion. The ordeal lasted maybe three minutes as both Ibuse and false Ibuse fought one another, the latter basically just copying what the original did so as to counter it, back up minimally by Lilou to ensure the fake wasn’t totally overwhelmed by the original. Lilou floated there now covered in sweat and panting in exhaustion, the paper fake shredded and the original Ibuse totally exhausted and watching as Lilou summoned forth a slew of puppets and showed herself ready to keep trying despite her exhaustion. The giant glared at her and let a long deep grumbling growl of frustration as he was both impressed and annoyed by what had transpired, not thrilled to be thrown into a mirror match with himself... still she had shown her guts and earned herself a sort of positive position in his books, even if he now saw her the way most people perceive street mimes, with contempt.

Kitokage appeared beside Lilou with the big contract scroll in hand and smirk wiped off of her face, kinda expecting Lilou to have gotten eaten or something akin to that avail. “Seems you impressed him enough! Didn’t actually believe that you could do something like THAT, why you even need us?” She said in mild awe as the massive summon burrowed himself underground without a word, Lilou fortunate to be floating off of the ground so as to avoid this affecting her. At that point the Salamander would unroll the scroll, until the most recent name, Kujaku came into sight and the Salamander indicated that Lilou need sign the scroll with her handprint, name and a bit of blood, all things she was quite willing to offer without a seconds pause. “We are pleased that we will be working with you!!!” The Muppet Lilou yelled enthusiastically, slapped the salamander on the shoulder with its soft hands while Lilou finished signing the scroll and rolled it up so as to marvel upon its form for a while and maybe rest and enjoy some dinner.

What is sage training you might ask yourself, well to a fidgety girl whom always has energy, wants to be active and suffers from attention problems as well as the innate drive to mess around...? Well it’s a darn nightmare if you asked her, skilled in chakra usage and the complexity and machines and sealing Jutsu, yes! Can she sense nature chakra, yes! Does she understand what she’s meant to be doing... sort of? Progress?!?! Very little indeed. Lilou lay beside a pool that sages before her had used to train to draw in nature energy, Lilous teacher Kitokage sitting over her with a stick in hand and was jabbing the next to naked girl to get her to pay heed. “Heyyyy, stop being lazy and get back too meditation , I could be doing better things with my time y’know?” The amphibian stated in a dower tone, her remaining eye giving away that she was exhausted of trying to make this work.

Lilou’s hand motions were pretty clearly just gibberish to indicate that she was basically grumbling begrudgingly at the Salamanders comments but not refusing. “You gotta try mingling the chakra with your own, like diluting it slowly as too fast and I’ll have to whack you or you turn to stone, focus and try and be calm, empty you mind of all distractions... please just cooperate already!!” She told and maybe even pleaded if Lilou, whom slowly lowered herself back into the pool up until it’s contents sat just below her collarbone and she closed her eyes and exhaled huffily and aimed to redouble her efforts. The escape of her own racing and enigmatic mind was the true test here, restricting herself from immediately reacting to trigger words(as in can be used to make a joke, she takes most bait given, intentionally done so or not.). This was all easy in theory and was not so much in practice, Lilou attempting to steady out her breathing and relax without allowing one of her legs to start quivering with nervous energy.

It took until about a week later for her to begin to attract and hold any noticeable quantity of nature chakra, although could make any use of it yet, although the trial and error approach was beginning to bare fruit. She’d gauged that there was no way to rush this at long last, generally relying on intelligence and talent didn’t really help here as opposed to hard work and patience. Proper effort and time was the only option and if she’d learned anything in this training, it was definitely at least a modicum more patience than she’d walked into this forest with... the want to see her dad fuelling such realization and growth within her and bringing her closer to obtaining sage mode. This had taken so long that Kitokage had begun tagging out with the two headed Mei Mei with watching over Lilou, the creature/s? finding the slow progress almost endearing when considering how she’d pissed off Ibuse something hard within her trial which had gain their interest and willingness to participate. “So you can use sensory “Yes sensory” skills, so let us”us” test using the natural sensory of the sage, eyes closed and keep meditating, mingle your chakra with the nature chakra gathered and “Find us”!” They said with one head and the other seemed to agree or redouble the key words simultaneously, it was weird to say the least but she would do as she were told and risked mingling drawn in nature chakra with her own with very great care.

Playing hide and go seek from a sort of gooey and almost chilly pool of liquid that she could leave was not a simply task... eyes closed and ears gingerly plugged to avoid relying on sound, Lilou focusing on what way she could to try and pick up on a huge two headed, almost dragon. The chakra signatures didn’t come easy to the genin as using passive heightened senses was not something she normally did, using techniques that forcibly fed her information or granted her the ability to temporarily pick up on things that should normally be impossible to do so.... it was a totally different mechanism with a similar purpose if one were to put it simply. So the result began with her essentially guessing where they might be and getting very low marks, a minor increase a little later possibly being Lilou picking up on Mei Mei’s preferred locations and more intuitive that actual certainty. It was frustrating as hell to say the least, Lilou more than once giving up for stint of time so she could wind down and regain some much needed patience and maybe rest or eat. On the third day did a breakthrough most unexpected and welcome find itself within all this blind practice, for you see it was that Lilou had been noticing weird spots that she originally attributed to residual light trails within her vision. For you see Lilou in her normal and unfocused manner had chosen to relax and play about, focusing more on said spots than on the task of terribly tricky training that told to tale of two dozen weeks past. In doing this the spots so dim did divulge more prominent depth and detail the longer that she his continued, attention grabbed with curiosity and the possibility she might be napping and lucidly larking around in Lala land.

Well let’s just say as the Lass did fool about without frame of mind to realize that not everyone here liked her enough yet to not offer hostility to the new summoner. Her ears and eyes both dumb to the Tasmanian like twister tearing toward her position, Shiromari having finally heard of and decided that the failing Sage should leave if she wouldn’t will wonderful results from her studious studies. In the dark and splotchy world Lilou played within did something red and angry, agitate the ambient bliss and color of the mixing chakra and emotion/thoughts intermingling and allowed her to have such joy from something so simple. Like a Nightmare did something huge and formless appeared and end the lines and marks of color that represented the local fungus and greenery, the hostile intent clear as day to Lilou who shot up and out of the training pool of viscous liquid and confidently moved to the side as the red approached her, feeling the wind of something enormous rumble by her by mere millimetres. Lilou tore her blindfold from across her eyes and saw the whirling winds of the Forests raging Shiromari, whom turned quickly and made a b line toward Lilou at stupid speeds. Lilou didn’t know why but this thing seemed to be moving REALLLY slow and for some reason that she couldn’t fathom on the moment, confidently summon her stun batons and met the whirling monster with force. It was hard to tell what exactly happened next, the whirlwind bouncing away from Lilou who was pinged toward the ground rather quickly and forced her to roll a couple of times before reaching her feet, an accompanying loud impact from our of sight signalling that the moving disaster had crashed and for a moment, stopped moving.

“Look”look”! You’ve done it, that feeling you have right now, that is sage mode! You have achieved it contract holder!!!” The Mei Mei yelled at her enthusiastically as one head kept its eyes toward the crashed Shiromari and the one that spoke to Lilou focused on her. The success in such a sudden and astounding endeavour was like electricity flowing through her body.... or maybe that was the sage form.... maybe both? Boy was she happy and warm... really warm and sweating to the point steam seemed to becoming off of her, really embarrassing stuff to be this overheated and underdressed..... Lilou not realizing she was releasing a vaporous clue of poison that she in turn she was inhaling and hadn’t yet managed to gain a tolerance to. Lilou doesn’t really remember what came after this although does know she took two days to regain consciousness after poisoning herself, remembering only snippets and the fact that this poison was a real doozy and that she’d need to train a little more to master all of this, although just obtaining the ability to achieve the acclaimed Sage form was enough for her right now, she wanted to go home and had now completed her training... so with consideration of the crappyness of the current environment(in her humble opinion), Lilou would rest and then quickly take her leave back for her home village, now needing to cart a massive scroll all the way back with her.... at least you won’t hear her make any complaints about doing so.
(Exit, is a sage nao.)
