CONFIDENT Aidene has never questioned her ability, and believes her martial arts and magic makes her dangerous. While she's afraid of hurting her friends as a vampire, she also sees it as another advantage to wield. After all, she's already dead. What can people do now? She can be snippy or blunt, but doesn't try to be rude.

IMAGINATIVE Aidene passes the time primarily by creative design: embroidery; designing and making clothes for cloth dolls, then playing scenes out with these dolls; designing and baking, cooking and creating recipes; playing and writing Dungeons and Dragons campaigns; and training and blending her martial arts, fencing, and dueling skills. She's sometimes more rooted in a fantasy world than the real world, and her personality is usually 50% whatever her current project of obsession is.

DISCIPLINED Party due to early cases of early uncontrolled magic, partly because her wand demands strength of mind, and party out of determination not to let her vampiric instincts run wild, Aidene continues to cultivate self-control and discipline. She keeps up with her "combat main" training as much as possible, and keeps very careful record of who and when she has fed off to make sure never to take too much. ✄🥢EARLY CHILDHOOD
Aidene was raised by her father, Martin. Her mother, Celestina, left to skate professionally in Russia when Aidene was three months old and communicated infrequently. Martin got help from Celestina’s stepfather and his sister raising Aidene, and Grandpa Aspen’s home in Scarborough became theirs for a while. There, she felt most comfortable at the art museum, making cute crafts with Grandpa Aspen or running around with Mr. Sawan, her dad’s friend.

Aidene was five before she actually met her mother: Celestina seemed interested that she showed some trace of magic: things flew around when she got excited or electronics heated up faster when she was frustrated or upset. Then one time she burnt a paper she'd folded into an airplane. Maybe that paper was important--Celestina was mad at her for a few days, then vanished again. From then on the only contact was an occasional request for money. Aspen put Aidene in martial arts when she was 7 to help learn control and Aunt Elysia, now playing Quidditch in Ireland, would visit by broom or floo to teach Aidene about magic, which was much more to her liking and level than muggle education or her mother’s attempt at tutoring.

When Aidene was eight, she was invited to fly by plane with the rest of Martin’s team to a tournament in St. Petersburg. Things—drinks, papers, a phone — started flying around when she got too excited, but for once she was able to control her magic, and stop the flying. An adult excused it as “strange cabin pressure phenomena” and they all had a good laugh. The whole encounter boosted her confidence in her magic, and in her own ability to wield it.

After the tournament, the family was surprised to be invited to Celestina’s flat. The conversation seemed civil enough, but even Aidene could tell her mother’s grand notions didn’t match up with her dad’s divorce plans. The argument escalated into a duel between her aunt and mother that ended abruptly when Elysia grabbed them and apparated away. Elysia splinched herself in the process, but seemed okay. The divorce was finalized without word from Celestina, who seemed to vanish again. Aidene herself was a little rattled, but there were other things to look forward to, such as moving to Martin’s childhood home in Godric’s Hollow.

Initially unimpressed with Godric's Hollow, Aidene was very excited to befriend Brook Knapp and Rhea Lane, who lived down the street from her. They would play pretend, share food, and even had a sleepover! After the 2045 Magizoology Festival she also started taking baking lessons from Theo Ellis-Hall, which, aside from magic lessons with Aunt Elysia, were her favorite lessons ever. Under his tutelage, she has been eagerly practicing and less eagerly but very dutifully keeping an organized recipe book.

✄🥢SCHOOL YEARS

✄FIRST YEAR Aidene took to Hogwarts with an energy that surprised even herself: she spent the first two weeks joining as many clubs as she could make meetings for, and trying to make friends. She quickly established a "party" with her usual best friends, Rhea and Brook, and Emma, from her house. While she occasionally sought tutoring from Rhea's Month Boy or his friends Lizzie and Aldrick, most of Aidene's time was spent in the kitchens working on recipes or off doing non-academic projects. Her favorite professor was definitely the badass Professor Cohen, and for much of the year Aidene fangirled over Cohen and considered herself an aspiring initiate of whatever "faction" Cohen led.

🥢SECOND YEAR For the most part though, she spent most her second year engrossed in her extracurriculars, be that making dolls of her closest friends in art club, working on recipes, or, towards the end of the year, reading fiction. Amongst club folks and housemates, she enjoyed particularly spending time with Charlotte, a pretty upperclassman who did art by the lake and always had good conversation.

Over the summer, her mother reappeared suddenly. Her dad was very suspicious, but it seemed Celestina didn't have any ill intents. For the most part, Aidene tolerated her occasional presence as long as it didn't get in the way of their usual routine.

✄THIRD YEAR Third year added four awesome new classes, a starting role on the Quidditch team, and her very own martial arts club to Aidene's bustling schedule. She even made friends with Talbot over a few random encounters.

Just before Valentine's Day, Aidene finally worked up the courage to ask Charlotte out. She was turned down and devastated for days, moping and weeping. But, thanks to her friends' advice, she was finally able to talk to Charlotte again and just happy to still be friends. Over the rest of the year, their relationship settled back into comfortable friends and Aidene was able to set her romantic feelings aside and cherish their friendship. The entire experience did convince her that she needed more practice flirting though.

🥢FOURTH YEAR Fourth year was a continuation of coursework missions, with a healthy helping of club quests and relationship-building events. She baked a fruit pie for her friend Laurel and Professor Hill after an inspired Quidditch tryouts where she had somehow gotten herself knocked out. Aidene was very surprised Vespera Salazar asked her to the Valentine's Dance, but accepted, had a great time and happily continued a relationship with her. Her studying motivation improved drastically in the last few months thanks to Ves's own diligence, although her club participation and dedication to her hobbies still took precedence.

One Hogsmeade day, she caught Talbot thieving around and joined his party as Distraction. They were doing great until caught by Lore, an "old man who didn't want cake". Thankfully, Lore released the two back to Hogwarts, although they still got detention for being out late.

✄FIFTH YEAR Getting her homework done before Sundays so she could see Vespera, Rion, and Theo in Hogsmeade became a painful but much-needed lesson in diligence and procrastination. Otherwise, fifth year was a happy but busy blend of projects and training in clubs, studying and practicing in classes. It was shaken when Brook's brother was killed in a fire; Aidene did what she could to help Brook cope, whether it was distracting her with something or just being in the same room to be a comforting presence, but ultimately felt the strain the year had put on their relationship.

Aidene's Grandpa Aspen died while she was en route back for Winter Break. After his funeral, Aidene was attacked by and dueled who turned out to be Celestina, her birth-mother. Aidene lost the duel and Celestina drained her blood and left her for dead before Lore saved her. After a disorienting rest of the break, Aidene returned to Hogwarts for the second semester. She was devastated to give up her clubs and DADA class, but slowly adjusted to a nocturnal life.

🥢SIXTH YEAR After a very disappointing and sleepy summer, Aidene started sixth year more miserable than she wanted to let on. Rhea and Brook were both off, both in general and at each other, and Aidene didn't know what to about anything. She spiraled for a while, withdrawing from her usual social life.

But the longer winter nights meant more time to actually catch her old clubs: Tris convinced her not only to not give up on her Fairy Forest campaign, but even offered her the Adventurer's Guild club captainship, which Aidene finally agreed to. She also started to go flying around campus with Professor Whitethorne and met Lore's son, Professor Deadman.

Over Winter Break, Vespera and Aidene broke up amicably. Between Ves's work and Aidene's nocturnal life, they just hadn't found a way to make it work. They were both sad, but found a way to be friends and move on. Back at Hogwarts, she found her vampire secret was not quite as secret, but with each person that confronted her, Aidene felt relief and was glad to have another friend back.

At the end of summer, her dad finally married Della Chance, making Rhea, Jonah, Rion and Lizzie officially her siblings!

✄SEVENTH YEAR Aidene at least knew what she was getting into with summer dazes and long winter nights to look forward to. She went to clubs when she could, DMed her first campaign, and hung out with friends until curfew. From curfew to dawn, she spent her time dutifully studying, and particularly honing her spellcasting and combat skills. She flirted with Lavinia Gismondi, her roommate and good friend, but ultimately their relationship didn't quite kick off yet.

✄🥢POST GRADUATION
Aidene spent the years directly after graduation in a kind of daze. She spent much of her time at Clifton Hall with Talbot and Lore, kept up with martial arts and dueling practice, or with Brook and Rhea. She found and joined a no-bars-held underground fight club/ pro dueling group in Northern Ireland, continuing to hone every combat advantage she could; a few years later she started training as a hit wizard.

LAID BACK While he revels in the intensity of a game match, Martin is fundamentally a laid back person. Outside of work, he'd rather just everything be calm, and he dislikes any kind of drama. His online persona “Sheeptier” is very close to his actual personality -- not very exciting, but gentle and easy-going.

DILIGENT Martin’s first responsibility has always been to his family and then his players and team before anything else, but he feels a sense of duty towards everyone. Despite his laid-back demeanor and patience, he has a strong work ethic and always gets things done or follows up.

PATIENT As a coach and as a father, Martin seems to have an inexhaustible well of patience for explaining, repeating, and always encouraging and forgiving. He won’t hesitate to call out his players or daughter if they’re consistently messing something up, but he has always been more guide than leader with them. Martin’s philosophy is to understand before trying to change, and to walk a hundred miles before asking someone else to move.

UNASSERTIVE Leadership does not come naturally to Martin. While he's good at being understanding, and can see things through, he is never the one to get things started. He knows that his entire life has been about playing games, and even while he knows some of these skills are transferable, he's humble to a fault about these. In his personal life, he was shaken by his father's suicide, by his own divorce, and now by his daughter's unlife. Martin is increasingly worried by not being needed or able to help his daughter, sister, and now his new wife or stepchildren. 👾EARLY CHILDHOOD Martin was born in Cork, Ireland and grew up hearing about magic and eagerly looking forward to the day he’d go to Hogwarts. But his letter never came. His squibness was an absolute abomination to his grandparents, and ultimately, his parents chose to break away rather than suffer the disdain; they moved to Godric’s Hollow and built their own house there. Despite his own squib status, he was thrilled for his younger sister, Elysia, when she received her Hogwarts letter and always looked forward to her stories, particularly those about Quidditch. It wasn’t unusual for them to be exchanging letters every day for a month, then go four without a word, then picking up on a completely different topic when they met over a school break.

👾SCHOOL YEARS Martin started at a muggle elementary school once in Godric’s Hollow, and had to get used to being a little older than his peers and always a little behind. With his parents busy with work, Martin spent most of his time withdrawing into video games, waiting for the next time Elysia came back for break and brought along her friends.

When he was 18, his mother, an auror, died in the line of duty. His father was devastated by the loss and commit suicide a few months later. His parents gone, his sister still at Hogwarts, his grades at an all-time low, and his financial situation rapidly plummeting, Martin was approached by a professional team with a lucrative deal playing video games professionally. It sounded like a dream come true. He was narrowly convinced to finish high school by Jonah Chance, the potioneer who lived down the street, before accepting.

After almost 5 years of playing, the London-based team agreed to cover an undergraduate education in return for coaching the team. While not the most famous esports player, Martin's gaming alias "Sheeptier" was known for a particularly patient and positive streaming persona. Since moving out of the game house, he would Floo to London and walk the rest of the way.

👾MARRIAGE Martin had a few short-lived relationships with muggles before but always craved someone he could share the magical world with. When Celestina Hyur, one of sister's friends, suffered a particularly bad break up, he was able to offer her a place to stay. He was entranced by her mystery, familiar with her sadness, and was happy to be able to placate her paranoia. An easy friendship led to a comfortable relationship. But less than a year into their marriage, Celestina ran off, leaving their infant daughter for him to raise.

Contact was scarce, but he tried to be supportive of his young wife pursuing her own dreams: her messages asked simply for another season, another medal, just another tournament. Martin convinced himself he could be patient, picked up temporary jobs streaming, waiting tables, coding-- whatever he could do to support her financially. He got help from Celestina's stepfather and his sister raising Aidene and got used to Celestina's absence. As the wait turned to years, all excuses died out except for the occasional request for money. Hoping beyond reason for a reconciliation, he chalked these requests up as his responsibility to her. Even when that hope turned to exasperation, he only considered a divorce when even her stepfather was encouraging it.

The first few times he brought up a separation, Celestina flatly hung up and ignored the topic. After a few more unreplied emails, she replied with an invitation to talk it out in-person. At this conversation in July 2043, Celestina seemed almost repentant, painting a lovely picture of their family reunited in their own self-sustaining corner of the world—Martin was almost tempted to agree. When Elysia questioned her motives and sudden repentance though, Celestina accused Elysia of turning her family against her. Each accusation was deflected with another accusation and Celestina turned her wand against her in anger. Elysia apparated them away before anything else could happen. Not long later, to Celestina's silence, Martin was granted a divorce on the grounds of desertion.

👾GODRIC'S HOLLOW
Without Celestina draining funds every few months, Martin was able to dedicate more time to remodeling his childhood home in Godric's Hollow and finally, in September 2044, he and Aidene were able to move back. Later, with Aidene gone to Hogwarts, he ended up spending more time with Orion Lane, and was glad to be able to convince Rion to finish high school just like Rion's grandfather had done for Martin years ago. Gradually, he and Della started spending more time together and with each other's kids; a few whiskey nights led to single-night stands, but their relationship was never clearly established.

Spring 2049, Martin retired from his longtime position with the esports team. He kept streaming part-time, but spent most of his newfound time taking care of Celestina's stepfather. He and Della were dancing around an official relationship--the kids had long since adopted each other-- when tragedy struck the Knapp House with Deepak's death in September. Martin kept his house open if they needed another space to grieve, and otherwise spent the fall helping to rebuild furniture.

Aspen's health took another downturn in the colder months. Just a few hours before Aidene disembarked the Hogwarts Express, Aspen passed away. Aidene went missing after the funeral, prompting Martin and Elysia to begin a desperate search. Hours later, Aidene returned with Lore, a friend of Aspen's. The rest of the break was spent adjusting to Aidene's new vampirism, although she insisted on returning to Hogwarts. Finally, at the end of August 2051, Martin and Della were married in a lovely evening ceremony. Martin moved down the street in with Della to the Old Chance Cottage, leaving the Kieran cottage to Elysia and Aidene.

His new stepson Jonah Lane got married a few months later in December 2051, and Rhea Lane-Li married her husband in December 2054. In April of 2053, Martin and Della welcomed a baby boy of their own, Aelius Cole Kieran, who was doted on by his siblings nearly a decade older.

👾POST-GAMING CAREER After his retirement from the professional esports scene in 2049, Martin continued streaming, spending other time volunteering, and nurturing his relationship with Della and his new stepchildren. He was able to dedicate more time to woodworking and other hobbies, but thought it was far too young to really retire. For a while, he picked up odd shifts at Shui Heng's breakfast place and Rion's tavern, helping out when they were short on servers.

In the summer of 2055, he overheard a conversation for camp counselors and expressed interest. Aspen Hill interviewed him on the spot. Soon Martin found himself guiding the first campers of the MagiScouts on woodland hikes and showing them simple woodworking. As the MagiScouts took off, he officially retired from streaming, preferring to just play games with friends

ELEGANT Celesina’s entire aesthetic is the elegant, graceful, and noble appearance with an air of mystery. She carries herself with the poise of a dancer both on and off the ice. Smooth movements, nimble fingers, and an upstanding demeanor have always helped her appear more charismatic, and she does her best to pass this on to her young charge.

INSTINCTUAL From a young age, Celestina had a strong intuition for what things did, and a melancholy that helped her connect to ghosts. Her mother called it a gift for divination and while she’s no seer, Celestina’s performance in divination seemed to support this. In reality, her intuition is no more finely honed than anyone else’s, but Celestina certainly believes otherwise and trusts her intuitive sense of what people mean or say more than she does reassurances or direct statements.

INSECURE Celestina’s insecurity with herself and her position in life has made her easily jealous at those around her. Self-imagined failures haunt her to this day: she hears the bad in critique, she remembers the negative, and she imagines other people as taunting competitors. Even when she acknowledges her real flaws--such as her ingratitude to her father or disconnect from her husband--she views them as situations to fix, not things to learn from and move on from. Throughout her adolescence, Celestina felt like she was trapped in the shadow of her mother. Her own talent and hard work never seemed to be enough to surpass Iselin, and anything Iselin herself said about different strengths fell on deaf ears. She was jealous of her roommates. Her first romantic relationship was a constant reminder that she herself was insufficient and pathetic. Finally, her own search into her family history has revealed nothing as grand as she’d imagined as a young girl. Even now, she fears Erin will leave or suspect her.

AMBITIOUS Despite her insecurity, Celestina has never dreamed small. She sought the awe and respect people seemed to hold for her mother. As she grew up, that desire fed both her insecurity and her determination and manifested as a straightforward challenge. She has regaled Erin with stories of Iselin's power--some real, some exaggerated or speculated-- and despite their comfortable life in Sisikon as she continues to work on the fruitless task of parsing her ancestors' notes.

GENTLE Although usually overpowered by a sense of paranoia that people are trying to lure her into a trap, Celestina has demonstrated that she can be sweet and compassionate things when she recognizes people are vulnerable. Imagined or real, she feels pity a lot, and knows how to give it as well.

➳❅EARLY CHILDHOOD
Celestina grew up with two facts: First, her mother, Iselin, was an amazingly powerful witch. Second, while her stepfather was a muggle, her birth-father was an incredible wizard as well. Unfettered and strongly independent, Iselin never said much on this birth-father; as a child, Celestina would make up stories that he was some kind of wizarding royalty or celebrity, that that there was some tragic romance between them before her mother settled for a muggle. Her stepfather tried to be supportive, but Aspen's lack of ambition and life as a museum docent was uninspiring compared to the strange people Iselin would occasionally host or the incredible places she would go in a snap. From stories gleaned at small gatherings, Celestina understood that Iselin had been a renowned duelist, potioneer and dancer. Celestina wanted more than anything than to be as incredible, despite Iselin’s own apparent apathy for her past accomplishments. Celestina insisted on going by her mother’s maiden name in wizarding society, pleased with the attention and connection.

Before Hogwarts, Celestina attended a muggle school in the daytime, pursued ice skating--dancing on ice--and archery in the afternoons. Whenever she could, she watched her mother do house chores with a flick of her wand or brew unassumingly powerful potions. If Iselin was visiting elsewhere or unavailable, Celestina would spend the afternoon at her stepfather’s museum, enjoying the art. Celestina’s own magic wasn’t very flashy in its manifestation, but she did have a strong instinct and unique empathy for things recently dead that Iselin identified and explained as a gift for divination.

➳❅SCHOOL YEARS By the time Celestina started at Hogwarts, she realized that going by her mother’s maiden name associated her with expectations of power she wasn’t quite ready for. At school, she hid under the anonymity of her stepfather’s surname but privately made a bold determination to beat her mother’s school record. She found Iselin's seventh year transcript, laden with top marks and achievements, and made it her goal. Despite not being very good instructor, Iselin tutored her in any subject over the breaks, pointing out both strengths and areas of improvement. In her insecurity though, Celestina focused on the negative. Aspen tried offering study techniques and support, but Celestina dismissed these, thinking that he couldn’t possibly know anything as a muggle and not wanting to rely on “tricks” where Iselin had gotten by on pure talent and determination. Despite their encouragement, Celestina considered not being selected as prefect a failure, and when her OWLs came back with three failing grades, she blamed it on simply not being talented enough.

Outside of her studies, Celestina found more promise: she was particularly close to her dorm-mates, Elysia Kieran and Delia Chance, even if she was always jealous of Elysia’s wit and Delia’s sweetness. In their fifth year, Celestina did her best to comfort them when their mothers died in the line of duty by offering comfort in small drawings or plushies. She felt truly bad and treasured her small competition with her own mother that much more. When Della found herself whirlwind romance that summer, though, the jealousy returned. Come fall, Celestina struck up a relationship with a Ravenclaw their year, entranced by his high marks and handsome looks and not recognizing his snide comments as exacerbating her own insecurities.

➳❅POST-GRADUATION
Soon after Celestina started Hogwarts, Iselin received word that her own mother was ill and was asking to see her. Thereafter, Iselin spent most of her time out of the country, but returned every break to reunite with Celestina and Aspen. Following Celestina’s graduation, Iselin and Aspen chose to officially split. Even though she had known that theirs had been a marriage of convenience and mutual respect rather than passion, Celestina took it harder than either of them. She maintained occasional letters with her mother but was hesitant to visit before she felt worthy. Rather than return to her stepfather’s house, she moved in with her boyfriend. Six months later, wands raised and tensions high, Celestina finally just left.

With Elysia playing Quidditch in the United States and Delia happily married, Celestina turned to Elysia’s older brother for comfort. Martin offered her not only a place to stay after her breakup but also comfort and much-craved attention. She finally stopped moping, reconciled with her stepfather, and picked up hobbies again to build up her self-worth. Sometime along the way, Celestina and Martin's relationship shifted from friends to something more, and Martin’s lack of magical ability and supportiveness were a welcome change of relationship dynamic. At 19, Celestina’s skating was noticed by a muggle coach, who encouraged her to compete. Unfortunately, after a few exhilarating months, Elysia had to point out that competing in muggle sports was against the Statute of Secrecy. Celestina found a group of wizarding skaters, but it was never the same. She found work at her stepfather's museum, skating and dueling as a hobby. By 24, she found herself jealous of Delia again--her wizarding profession, her marriage, her adoring kids.

With a bit of nudging, Celestina and Martin got married late that winter. But seeing her mother again at the wedding stirred the questions and ambitions Celestina had before-- Who was her mysterious birth-father? Where was the home that Iselin left them for? Why couldn’t Celestina beat her? Iselin had only ever mentioned that she was now working on spell development and not long after the wedding, their usual letters stopped. Amidst the struggles of pregnancy, Celestina was invited to help some of her idolized skaters start a professional magical skating board. Three, terrible, sleepless months into motherhood, Celestina reconnected with the group and vanished for Russia that day.

➳❅SEARCH AND DESCENT While the magical skating board never quite took off the way she hoped, Celestina found a small community of dedicated duelists in the region. She lost more than she won, and hated the confused or pitying expressions she thought she saw on faces afterwards. But it was during one of these tournaments that she got a clue as to who her birth-father had been.

Once hooked, Celestina started a search that spanned years and took her around Europe and Asia. The search led only to disappointing answers: Her birth-father had been a promising student turned successful cursebreaker. He’d been with Iselin for only one night post-graduation before leaving to join the Death Eaters in the UK, where he presumably died. It wasn't even certain if he had been accepted in their ranks. During this time, Celestina mostly got by with her money from skating or working at a cafe in Wizarding Russia. But as her travels took her further away for longer, she started asking her husband back in England for resources.

While most of her information and leads came by shady means, Celestina’s first actual crime was an accident. She was in Ireland, tracking the last known location of her birth-father when she found two wands buried in an unmarked grave. She hadn’t thought much of taking the wands at first, simply following an instinct to identify the people in the grave. She recruited a young person skilled in wandlore to help identify the wands and their last spells.

Mourning and rethinking her results, Celestina visited Martin and her child once, five years after she left. The girl seemed to be doing well, and for a week Celestina enjoyed playing “mommy” to this little girl. But when the child accidentally burned a few of her notes, she left again. She spent the next few years hunting down relics that had been part of her father’s fortune and acquiring them. As funds from her husband dwindled, she traded potions or information for these pieces. Some were easier to just take. Somewhere along the years she found out about an auror tracking her and fled the country again.

With each crime, she felt less and less like herself, and more and more obsessed, a hollow figure chasing a story that didn’t mean anything and fleeing from the inevitable. After three years of stealing sprees and fighting off anyone who got in her way, she discovered an address to a countryside house-- Iselin’s childhood home. Nestled in the mountains, warded against apparition and unplottable, the house seemed like the perfect place to retreat and start anew. There was even a house elf, dutifully maintaining the house. She had to stop sometime. If she couldn’t find greatness in her past, she just had to start with the family she still had left.

So when Martin came to St. Petersburg, Celestina treated it as a fresh start. They could start over as a family, start a new life in the secluded countryside, away from too-curious aurors. Instead, Martin brought up divorce. It was a slap to the face in light of her hope of a lovely future. Celestina knew that he never would have thought of it on his own and blamed Elysia for questioning her earnestness and turning Martin against her. Elysia was an obstacle she could never out-talk. But if she could just immobilize Elysia, she could still make this work. She could convince him. Or if not, she had magic he didn’t. She could make him. But Elysia wasn’t interested in dueling and after deflecting the attack, simply grabbed her brother and niece and apparated away.

A few weeks later the divorce papers arrived. Celestina tore them apart, confounded the official sent to deliver the notice, and flatly refused to accept this reality. Realizing that this meant the Ministry had her location or soon would, she left Russia and hid out in the countryside house. With nothing and no one else, she devoted herself to feverishly parsing the artificer notes her mother and grandfather had been working on. She determined she had to figure out the spells and make them work.

➳❅MOTHERHOOD In Summer 2046, Celestina returned to Godric's Hollow to again check on Martin and Aidene, only to find them very (in her mind) hostile. She returned again in Summer 2049 under the guise of 15 year old "Gabriela Engels", but ultimate decided Aidene was too weird. Instead though, she formed a close bond with Dominik and Deepak Knapp and stayed all summer to play with them, visiting with her stepfather in while in the country.

Back in Sisikon in the fall, Celestina witnessed a freak train accident and rescued a little boy from the flames and wreck. Angry at the Knapps many happy children, she returned very briefly in a fit of rage to Godric's Hollow to burn down the Knapp Cottage. She carried Dominik outside to safety, but all they found of Deepak was a charred, unrecognizable body. Later that month, she adopted the little boy she'd rescued to stay.

Celestina left Erin unattended only once: in December, she had a suddenly gnawing intuition that she needed to return to England and returned in time to attend Aspen's funeral under the guise of polyjuice potion. She had come to the conclusion that she needed Aidene's blood to finish recreating Iselin's work, but her attempt to stun and acquire a sample turned into a full-fledged duel. Celestina won, gathered as much blood sample as she could, and left Aidene to die.

From then on, Erin was Celestina's primary focus: She still tried to understand Iselin's notes, but bonding with, teaching, and comforting her boy was the most important. She has not yet managed to crack Iselin's work, but it remains a hobby as she and her house elf raise Erin, subsisting of sales from the farmland and the occasional high-value thievery.

Against her better judgement, Celestina allowed Erin to attend Durmstrang at his insistence. She has been both proud to see him develop quickly as a wizard and relieved to find his questions about his life before haven't been too hard to deter. While she wishes for more time with him, she has settled for continuing her research.

EARLY CHILDHOOD

Flora’s mom left her alone with her dad, taking her 2 older siblings with her. Flora didn’t understand what was happening, maybe this is how life worked?

Flora was taken away from her dad and put in the orphanage. At the time, she was confused, Mom had already been taken, why was dad being taken too? Sure he wasn’t very nice to her, but he was her daddy.

Flora began reading simple books about reading palms and testing it out on her fellow orphans. Was she right? Not very often. But sometimes when she pushed hard enough she could feel a funny connection with a person, and then her palm reading was severely accurate. Flora Helen didn’t know why this happened, it was very weird.

Almost 20% of kids spend their life in the system before getting adopted - Flora Helen had reached that 20% and she knew her chances of getting adopted were dwindling down every day. She had to do something to make herself stand out, to make herself not be the weirdo who sometimes told people what was going to happen to them. She would memorize facts - yes, that was something unique.

When Flora Helen got her letter for Hogwarts she was excited, but nervous. She would have to leave the orphanage, a place where she had spent so many years of her life growing up. Surely, she would be able to come back during the summers, but she would miss everyone. She did however, develop a crush on a cute girl. She had liked boys before though… maybe she was changing… or maybe she could like both? She went to find books for facts (1.8% of adults identified as bi-sexual). She jotted these down in a notebook, a notebook she was sure to take with her to Hogwarts.


SCHOOL YEARS
[First Year - 2052 - 2053]
Flora Helen joined a few clubs, trying to broaden her horizons and see what else she could learn if she specialized - so she tried Herbology, Namaste, and Quidditch.

She also almost got kidnapped by a strange professor, but turns out Miss Elysia really was just a professor.

[Second Year: 2053 - 2054]

[Third Year: 2054 - 2055]
Picking out electives, she knew she had to take Wandlore, she had fallen in love with conversations she randomly would have with Miss Elysia after that first strange meeting. Miss Elysia taught Flora Helen how to think, rather than to memorize facts.
[Fourth Year: 2055 - 2056]
Flora Helen was shocked that she was the leader of Herbology Club and Namaste AND the Vice Captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.

[Fifth Year: 2056 - 2057]
Taking over as Captain of Quidditch and being a Prefect, Flora Helen was a little overwhelmed with leadership - she had to be a good influence.

But - she suddenly found herself with a true family, with Miss Elysia (Mom), Uncle Martin, and Cousins galore. She truly had someone to turn to. She wouldn't age out of the system.

[Sixth Year: 2057 - 2058]

Flora Helen was head girl - and boy did the kids keep her busy. The summer prior she had been warned that Angier Zheng had been in a traumatic accident, and didn't survive - so she knew she would have that to worry over. She never anticipated that the Wellbelove kids would try and unlike themselves, and Wellbelove she knew the best, Milan, would take some sort of potions and have a mishap - someone who she was clearly directly over. Flora Helen wished she could take points away, but frankly the injury was probably hurt enough, no need to make the Ravenclaws all hate Milan.

Finally the year was over, exams were finished, Flora Helen was done with Hogwarts.

POST HOGWARTS
Flora Helen wasn't sure where she was going in life, what she wanted to do. Growing up she had wanted to be a gardener, but then all of her school experiences had changed who she was - a leader, a carer, someone deeply interested in family and wand lore. She was thankful, Mom didn't rush her to pick a specific career path. Instead when Flora Helen asked what she should do, Elysia told her to do what she wanted in life, and where she was would be the path she should take.

IMAGINATIVE Life in a small town of less than 400 can be awfully boring sometimes, and Erin lived on the outskirts of even that. He was always curious for the latest gossip or news, but often it was up to his own imagination to supply the excitement. Accordingly, Erin’s mind is usually wandering, either because he’s carefully thinking about something else or just daydreaming. Sometimes he daydreams about different ice cream flavors. Sometimes he daydreams about ruling the world as an Emperor of Darkness. It really depends on his mood. He seems to miss the point a lot, but Celestina always seemed to understand him, and he remembered his sister used to. Epsilon always says he was “seeing possibilities”, a sentiment that Erin really appreciates.

SINGLE MINDED Celestina calls it contrary, Epsilon calls it determined, and Erin remembers someone in his old family calling him stubborn. Either way, Erin has a tendency to get stuck on the same theories or ways of thinking, and once decided, he’s stuck. When he was nine, one of the kids in the village said that the fishing foreman was secretly a leviathan that sentenced fish to die, and ever since, Erin could never quite look at the foreman without thinking about a leviathan. When he eventually befriended Foreman Wojciech, Erin decided that leviathans were fine, but the man is perpetually associated with leviathans—thankfully, Wojciech is quite flattered by the notion! Erin’s singleminded focus guides him in exercise or dueling, and he moves fluidly ever forward.

CAREFREE Erin remembers only parts and pieces of his childhood in England, taped together by daydreams and imaginary happenings. But that life is so very far--metaphorically and literally--from his life now. His clearest memories of a home is his very free and relaxed existence in the Swiss countryside. Even at school, he can rely on Amelie to do any complicated social navigation– when she needs him, he just does as told; when he needs her, he can count on her to do an complicated observation and speaking. Erin is used to being able to do things on his own timeline, and doesn’t have to worry about much besides Epsilon making pea soup for dinner. After all, Erin thinks, he bounced back from nearly dying, and he went entire years at school without a friend, so nothing can be that bad. He already lost his entire family once, so any new tragedy can’t compare. Through a combination of “I’ve been through worse” and cold indifference, most things now just slide off him. Even if Celestina nags, Erin is pretty chill and does things at his own pace.

ACTIVE From dancing and gymnastics when he was young to ice skating and flying during his school years, Erin has always been a very active person. Sporting and athletics seem to be the only times he’s completely focused, and even at other times he will absent-mindedly sway or dance.

RESERVED Being an English-only speaker in a German-speaking country didn’t make it easy for Erin to socialize with the other Sisikon kids the first few years after the train accident. While his German improved quickly by necessity, Erin still has a mysterious loner reputation at school. He isn’t against hanging out and of course loves any gossip, but generally Erin doesn’t do too much to actively cultivate a particular persona.

■ Fire -- even a small one has him careful and nervous. Ever since the train accident, Erin can’t stare at fire without feeling anxious. It’s not enough to make him freeze up, and anyone who has tried to use it against him in dueling has been harshly punished. But he is very careful around it.
■ Serious injury– Erin seems unafraid of most things, but that’s because he trusts his own abilities and the powers of healing magic. More than anything, he fears injuring himself beyond repair though–unable to dance, to skate, to run. What would he do then?

❆☃EARLY CHILDHOOD Erin grew up in a big family in a small village in England. He spent much of his childhood learning gymnastics and dance with his twin sister, and daydreaming about this or that.

All that came to an abrupt end when his family was on a trip in Switzerland and a train crash killed his whole family. He was barely dragged out of the fire in time and rescued by locals. Later, with no family to turn to, he was adopted by Celestina Hyur, an apparent old friend of his mother’s.

Over the next four years, Celestina, or Pearl Spiritfield as she was known by the locals, taught him the language and continued his early education. Gradually, she showed him the things in her research and the attempts to understand her own mother, Iselin, and Iselin’s research. A former professional skater, Celestina also honed Erin’s gymnastics and dance talent on ice.

❆☃SCHOOL YEARS
Erin had insisted on attending a wizarding school, and Celestina definitely preferred Durmstrang to Hogwarts, citing her own bad memories of Britain. With some reaching out, Celestina secured him an invitation to Durmstrang Institute. With Celestina’s support, Erin dyed his hair to a more edgy black before going off.

❆FIRST YEAR Life at Durmstrang was exhilarating and grand in a way Erin enjoyed—he found thrills in flying, skiing, skating, and later dueling. He was excited to explore the campus and was mostly overlooked. A few weeks back from Winter Break though, he managed to offend one of the most popular kids in their year. For this he started suffering some grief–mostly around his being small and ditzy.

☃SECOND YEAR Erin mostly wandered between class, skiing or ice skating (warmer months), soaking in the hot tubs (colder months), talking to ghosts, and exploring. He found a few of Iselin’s trophies in the trophy room and was investigating when he befriended Amelie Siddall from Keltainen, who also examining her ancestry. When they were accosted by an older student, Amelie defended him, and the two impressed each other with their sass. They were inseparable from then on.

With more of a life outside of Sisikon, Erin started questioning again the events that had led to his family’s deaths. At school, he quietly accepted Iselin’s reputation as a terrifying duelist. At home though, he asked more and more questions, searching for scraps of memory that might help him learn more of his birth family.

❆THIRD YEAR A few bullying acts taken too far and his performance in dark arts, dueling, and now martial magic was starting to prove that Erin’s unfocused, ditzy demeanor masked an adroit athlete and duelist. He had an uncanny ability with the dark arts that discouraged trifling, and a cunning, charismatic charmer in Amelie. The whole combination earned him first fear then friendship with a few older friends in quidditch and dueling, especially once they realized he was skilled but not unpredictable.

☃FOURTH YEAR For the first time, Erin returned to school with more friends than over enemies. He made Musta’s first string in Quidditch and was actually friendly with most of his teammates–particularly the older beater who seemed to have taken him under his wing. He placed quite well in Durmstrang’s annual tournament, placing third of his year in flying and tenth in the school in dueling.

Over the summer, an owl crashed over their farm—it turned out a young Nicole had sent her owl all the way from England in search of someone that looked like her. This was the start of Erin and Nicki’s letters.

❆FIFTH YEAR mostly involved studying for the NORSE exams. Amelie was quite busy with her newly appointed Team leader status, which meant most of their time together was studying–although they did always find a few hours each week to just relax. Instead, Erin honed his combat skills and continued to practice skating, skiing, and flying.

That winter, he finally learned from Celestina that he had actually been kidnapped: there had been a fire, but it was one she caused as a cover to smuggle him away. More disturbing was the idea that he might have family still alive in England. The news bothered Erin so much that he flew off for a few days to stay with Amelie. At the end of the week though, Erin returned: he had realized he didn’t exactly care that was how their relationship started–Erin liked Celestina and Epsilon, and he liked the life they had built around the farmstead. Maybe eventually he would go find out more about whatever family he had remaining, but that was all very far away. He was sure his sister was dead, and she was the only one he cared to remember.

☃SIXTH YEAR Over the winter, Nicki showed up. After the initial surprise, they spent an incredible break together, filled with skating and skiing. They swapped stories about Durmstrang and Hogwarts–which sounded not nearly as fun–, he introduced her to his friends and Sisikon, and Celestina even welcomed her to return in the summer. Erin’s grades, unfortunately, weren’t high enough to host a transfer student under the new program, but Amelie’s were, and her family was highly regarded in the magical community.
