Welcome to the Character Prompt Rolling Thread!

This is a thread where RP Staff will be (slowly but surely) filling out the reserved threads with prompts for your characters! We're hoping this thread will be used to spring board plots and possible role-play for your characters. We also hope this might inspire you guys during the quiet times of the year, when the shop staff are busy working on other things, or we're all in Hibernation Mode.

There are a few rules about this thread, so please read them carefully before you jump right in!

The Rules
1. Please make sure you post WHICH LIST you are rolling from as well as WHICH CHARACTER you are rolling for and THEIR LOCATION when you roll! Part of life is as much luck as it is talent and skill, so we feel instead of rolling for a prompt and fitting that to a character, you instead announce the character first and see what the RNG gives you!

If you want a code, use this:

Grid Name i.e. Illness Prompt Thread, or Candidate Prompt Thread
Character Name:
Location: High Reaches Weyr, Western Weyr, etc.

While currently the grids are likely favoring those at the Weyr, we do have plans to release prompts for Unaffiliated Riders, Hold/Hall things, and other Location Specific happenings. We just need time, sorry!

If you are not the Weyr and want to use the Illness Grid, feel free to just adjust it to your characters location or use it to get an idea of just how sick they are getting even if it's not at the Weyr. :3

2. While you are not required to use the prompt, we do ask you refrain from spamming it with a character to get a more favored result. If you already have an idea of what you hope to have happen with your character, than simply go for it and plot it out or RP it, instead of using this thread!

The perks of using this thread means you might be able to win a pet of some variety or possible other rewards. But this is an honor system so please, no cheating or deleting rolls!

3. Again, do NOT delete rolls! If you mess up and roll the wrong number or dice (or the wrong Random Number string), just try again. You can absolutely disregard the roll if it's not something you like, but wait a week IRL before you roll for them again from that prompt. Or, perhaps, roll from a different grid that is suitable for them. We just don't want you spamming the prompts with the same character over and over just to get a desired result....

4. For Threadfall Grids, we ask you roll fro one of the suitable grids only once per week IRL. The week will automatically start on Monday's at 12:01am PT--so if you rolled on Sunday night, you could theoretically roll again for the same character the next day to see how they fair for Threadfall for the upcoming week.

At this point in time Threadfall is only falling about once every 7 days, but as the Turns progress it will pick up until it's falling about once every 48-72 hours. For now, it's not quite that frequent. As its frequency grows, you will be allowed roll more to see how you fare.

5. For non-Threadfall grids, you can roll eligible prompts as needed or desired. Just try to make it make sense. If one prompt has them in the infirmary for a month, they shouldn't be rolling for Threadfall to see how they fare the next week, haha.

6. If your character takes damage or gets sick or it's noted they are "out" for a week, weeks, month, or whenever, we do ask you try to abide by it. It's not a hardcore rule, but if say your dragon lost his or her eye, and then we run a PC Threadfall game the next week, it is highly unlikely they will be fit enough to participate. The same goes with rolling for Threadfall prompts. If your dragon or rider is out for an extended length of time, it's possible they will be unable to participate in Drills or Threadfall or things of that nature. If the "game" is noted to have happened after a passage of time, then you might participate; or if the injury is a little more vague and not as bad. We're not trying to be hardcore sticklers, but it's not fun if you're plotting your character injured but then handwave it just because they're missing out on a game.

It keeps things a bit more realistic and you know there'll always be more games.

7. If you roll a grave injury such as being grounded, or even potential death, you DO NOT have to suffer the effects! In those causes you are always given the option to re-roll OR to just take damage. We are in no-way shape or form forcing your character to die. We just want to give the option in case you want to see if your character is feeling lucky.

Things do happen, after all.

8. There well could be multiple grids your character can roll from! For dragonriders they might well roll from the Fighting Dragon Threadfall game, but they also might roll from the Sickness Thread, or a General Encounter Thread. Depending on the Threadfall Game Roll's outcome, you can certain roll from others to see what happened on other days. Just try to have it make sense. If they're clearly injured from Threadfall and they roll a they feel great from the Illness Thread, you know they're not magically healed; they just clearly had a day where they were feeling a little more up-to-snuff during that sevenday.

9. Staff will start to roll out more Prompt Grids to use as we finish them. For now, they'll likely be in random order, based on when inspiration strikes--but we might re-arrange their placement as we finish more and more. We have lots of plans for grids and prompts, so please be patient.

10. You may use these immediately! We only have a few ready now, but as we add more and more, you'll be free to use them as we post them. In some cases, we may add more prompts, or edit new ones in, so it's good to keep checking the front page as you use it as you'll never know if the numbers change.

11. ....not sure what else but we'll add more rules as needed and as we see how it goes! We hope you have fun!

White / Green / Blue / Brown / Bronze Dragon Threadfall Grid

This is for dragons who are IN a Fighting Wing!
Golds, and anyone who flies in the Weyrling Wing or Queen's Wing, please use the Queen's Grid elsewhere on this page!

Roll to see what you get!
Threadfall happens about once every 7-8 days, currently, so your characters are allowed one roll per week to see how they fare in their last Threadfall. Please note, though, that this is optional. It is something that is both about skill and training, but also sometimes a bit of luck, too. Roll to see how your white, green, blue, brown, or bronze did! Golds, Queen's Wing riders, and Weyrlings will get their own Threadfall grid because of their altitude position, but also their different fighting style.

Please roll a D100

• 1: You're not sure what happened but you flew horribly! Both you and your dragon wound up injured and will be down for some time. Roll an extra D100 to see how long you're out!
1-50. An entire sevenday! Ouch! Better make sure those wounds stay clean.
51-80: Two to Three sevendays. A little longer than you hoped but some wounds require a bit more time to heal.
81-90: One to Three months. Consider yourself temporarily grounded and will likely wind up in the Queen's Wing before being back up to snuff. The injuries were substantial but you'll make it with time.
91-96: 4-6 Months. Yikes. You and your dragon are going to need some major time to recuperate and some time for therapy. They'll likely need to return to the Queen's Wing before going right back to a Fighting Wing.
97-99: 6-12 Months. Oh dear. Healers have some mixed feelings about whether or not you'll make a full recovery. Whatever happened, someone lost some limbs or was so horribly wounded it's going to be a very long road to recovery, if you ever fully recover. Recuperation, and rehabilitation will likely be necessary. You'll definitely need to be n the Queen's Wing before you go back into a fighting wing.
100: Permanently Grounded. Your dragon might not ever be able to fly again, or you lost enough of your limbs that it's going to be a long, long, time before you go back up IF you ever go back up! Time to hang up those knot. [If you don't want to permanently injure your characters, feel free to simply re-roll a number between 51-99 instead. :3]

• 2-35: You flew great! No injuries besides some sore muscles from the usual grind. You're pretty spent though, and absolutely want some downtime.

• 36-39: Your dragon took a nasty score on one of their limbs, that's going to need extra close tending, and might leave them with a bit of a limp. Roll a D10. Odds are the limp will be permanent. Events the limp will only be temporary.

• 40: One of your wingmates caught you in his or her flame. Your poor dragon is now suffering an extra crispy part of their body, and you're not necessarily happy with them. Your wingmate is pretty sure you were the one flying in their airspace, but regardless who is right (or wrong) you've got a sore and distressed dragon to tend... and to ensure he or she isn't going to suffer phosphorous poisoning, which can well be deadly. [Here's looking at you, Lytol.]

• 41-45: You caught a sack of firestone wrong and pulled a muscle in your shoulder. It hurts and is likely going to need massaging and a bit of work but otherwise you did all right! No long-lasting damage

• 46-47: You've got a nasty new threadscore across your shoulder and arm. It's ugly and hurts like a b***h. You'll be needing to visit the healers for regular cleaning for at least two sevendays, and you can bet it's going to scar. It's going to take time for your body to recover. You'll be grounded at least a sevenday to avoid reopening the wound.

• 48: You done messed up--bad. In fact, whatever you and your dragon did wound up causing a wingmate severe injury! [Possibly flamed them instead of Thread, possibly flew into their air-space causing them to veer and get hit by Thread, etc.] If you've an active Wingleader, OOCly, you should let them know. Feel free to work out what happened--could even be the cause of death to a poor NPC. Either way, it's bad. Have fun angsting and feeling shame!

• 49-55: Threadfall was nice and easy! You made it out without any significant injury. Luck was on your side!

• 56-58: Your dragon took a nasty score on his hip and thigh. It's an ugly enough wound that the poor thing is going to be in quite a bit of pain for the next sevenday as the skin regrows. It'll need daily tending, and you'll need to remind them not to tear it open.

• 59-60: Ouch! You dislocated your shoulder due to overly loose straps. While it didn't keep you out of Thread, it did require a trip to the healers, and your Wingleader knows that's an amateur mistake. Whoops.

• 61-62: Your dragon took extensive damage to one of their wingsails, which dropped you out of the fight early. You're temporarily grounded until the wingsail heals, which could take anywhere from 3 sevendays to 3 months. This means no flying until you're given clearance from the dragonhealers. Tough luck, but at least the damage isn't permanent. We hope.

If you want to roll for it, roll a D6 have fun:
1. Three sevendays
2. A month
3. A month and a half
4. Two months
5. Two and a half months
6. Three months

• 63-80: You flew brilliantly! Everything just seemed to work. You took no damage and came out without a scratch. You were on point! You even managed to get a few of your wingmates out of close calls and warn them of trouble. Be proud! You flew well. Now you can only hope your superiors saw or heard of such glory. Just don't get too much of an ego.

• 81: Your dragon got hit! Roll a D4 to see how it goes!
1. The wound is fairly light and looks like it will heal within a few days times, and won't leave any scarring.
2. The wound is a bit deeper, but manageable. You'll need to clean it out the next sevenday and watch for infection, but otherwise, should heal with only minor scarring. Your dragon will complain about it itching then next two to three sevendays--don't let them scratch and tear it open!
3. Well, you thought the wound was healing up fine but now you find out it's infected! Someone didn't do a very good job cleaning it out with redwort, clearly. This is going to cause your dragon pain, and likely need to be re-opened, re-cleaned, and any puss drained. This wound is uncomfortable and may make your dragon prone to irritability then next few weeks. You'll be visiting the healers regularly until the infection is under control.
4. Oh Faranth. Your dragon winds up with a case of severe infection and actually may need an ichor transfusion. They are sick, weak, and ill. They still well could die. The dragonhealers find dragons willing to help. It's up to you whether or not the transfusion works or not; if the dragon does not survive the infection or the infection is caught too late, they could die. Recovery will still take likely a month after a successful transfusion as the dragon recuperates and is cleared to return to the Wings.

• 82-84: Your dragon bit his or her tongue HARD. The pain is enough to keep you irritable for a few days because it was a pretty nasty and bad bite. There's also only so much you're able to do to help them given it is a mouth injury, and any numbweed needs to be injected into the tongue itself, and wears off far too quickly.

• 85-90: You did great! Not a scratch or score or burn on you or your dragon. You somehow defied the odds and made it out safe and sound. Booyah!

• 91 You flew all right, with minimal injury, but a wingmate did not fare so well. The Weyr is down one more face and one more dragon. Your heart is sore. It's a fate you yourself might one day face.

If you've an active PC Wingleader and/or Seconds, it's best to let them know they might be down a rider.

• 92-94: Your dragon wound up pulling a wing muscle bad during Threadfall. They pushed themselves a bit too hard and now need a sevenday or two of rest and recuperation. Flight is difficult, and it's Wingleader's orders to keep them rested so as not to cause further damage. You and your dragon are both likely irritable and restless due to the discomfort.

• 95-98: You saved one of your wingmates from harm's way! It was a spectacular move, one you're sure the Harper's will want to record and sing about for the ages. It was a risky move but it was a life worth saving. You and your dragon were on-point and deserve all the praise. OOCly, you absolutely can talk to your wingmates about seeing if anyone wanted an epic save.

• 99: You made it out alive. Sure, you had to be dunked into a tank of water, as living thread pieces were found eating away at your shoulder and back, but somehow you manage to survive. You're now down a wherhide jacket, but that can be replaced; your back now has a nasty few scars, but you didn't wind up getting eaten alive, and that's all that matters. You'll need a sevenday or more for your back to heal, but you won't be gone long!

• 100: Extensive injury knocked you out of the fight. You'll be grounded at least 2 months, up to an entire Turn while you heal, with possible permanent injury such as a missing limb, missing eye, major wingsail damage to your dragon, etc. If you want to risk it roll a 1-6 to see what you won't be getting back:

1. An eye -- 2-3 months grounded
2. An arm -- 6-8 months grounded
3. A foot / leg -- 8-12 months grounded
4. Dragon's tail fork -- 3 months grounded (mostly to relearn how to fly)
5. Permanently grounded -- major wingsail or wingbone loss, multiple limb loss, etc.
6. Death of rider, dragon, or both

If you roll 5 or 6 and don't like the result, feel free to re-roll a 1 through 4!

Illness Grid

Please use this grid sparingly per character!
If your character has fallen sick recently, please wait a month or two before rolling for them again. Pernese tend to be healthy so while sickness does occur, we ask you be sensible. Your character shouldn't be deathly ill every week!

Please roll a D100

• 1-50: You're totally fine! No illness here! Now get out there and do something fun!

51-60: You’re probably too sick to work, but you have no symptoms other than feeling like you’ve been tackled by a panicked herdbeast. If you’re a rider, it can be yourself or your dragon who’s feeling poorly. Nonriders, roll 1-3. Riders, roll 1-2.
• 1 You (and/or your dragon) decide to fight through the day anyway, for your own reasons. How does your usual performance suffer? Does anyone tattle on you or your superior notice your condition?
• 2 You’ve asked your superior for the day off and got it. How do you spend your day?
• 3 You’ve asked for the day off, but due to need (or your boss is the hardnosed type), your request is refused. How do you handle that?

61-64: Thanks to some bug or another, you’ve resigned yourself to spending the day in the latrines. What are you missing out on?

65-66: You’re a big faker. What’s so important to you that you’d fake sick and play hooky for it? Optional bonus: Roll to see if you’re caught or not!

67-68: You’ve been bedridden with fever for three days. Roll to see what happens.
• 1 You have a good, if very strange dream thanks to your illness or the medications you’re on.
• 2 You have an awful nightmare.
• 3 Someone unexpected comes to visit you!
• 4 You’re a little confused and start to wander around, thanks to your illness or the medications you’re on. Where do you wake up? Is there anyone with you? Have you done anything strange, or just boring normal stuff?
• 5 Someone’s left you an anonymous get-well-soon (or the opposite) gift. What is it? Can you tell who it’s from? How does it make you feel?

69-75: You've come down with the sniffles. It's not enough to keep you bedridden or away from duties, but you do feel a bit poorly and will be walking around sniffing and blowing your nose for a few days.

76-77: You've come down with a nasty stomach virus. You are not feeling good at all and have to spend most of your day close to the latrines, or with bedpans nearby. You have the option of going to the healers, but it's up to you whether you spend time there or fight it out in your weyr. Either way, you're sick, miserable, and could use a little TLC. If a dragonrider, your rider is a bit more grey with worry over your misery and ill-health, but they do try to ease your suffering as best they can through the link.

78-90: You had felt a bit poorly the night before, and were certain you were going to wake up feeling miserable... but actually? You're feeling great! You wake up ready to take on the world. Either you just needed some sleep, or you took some mixture from the Headwoman, or some other remedy--now you're ready to take the herdbeast by the horns! Rawr! Go out and achieve your dreams!

91-94. You wake up with a sore throat and a general feeling of grogginess. Roll a D4 to see how you progress throughout the day!
1. You feel miserable by lunch, and are just a pile of sick by dinner. You've a sore throat, a fever, aches, chills, and a cough. Better get to bed! This thing will be about a sevenday before you feel better.
2. You feel pretty awful by the time evening hits. A low-grade fever, maybe some chills, and your throat is on fire. It'll take a couple days before you start feeling back on your feet--but might have a runny-nose for another week or so!
3. Eh... Your sore throat lingers throughout the day keeps you wanting to sip on something warm. Still, you're feeling generally all right. The sore throat will linger a couple days before fading.
4. Whatever was wrong seems to clear up by the evening!

95-97. You've got an immune system of steel! You're feeling great, and definitely don't have any time for illness. In fact, you feel like a million marks! What can't you do? The world is your oyster--get out there and kick some a** and take some names. You're untouchable...or so you feel.

98. If you're a dragonrider, your dragon is feeling a bit out of sorts. Roll to see what's ailing your poor beast!
1. Oh-no. They're suffering indigestion and have what appears to be a case of thick-tail. How did you not see this!? You're going to have to spend some time getting them back to good health.
2. They appear to have an infection in their mouth. An abscess near one of their teeth, or some sort of wound on their tongue. The dragonhealers are going to need to check it out and give you some medication to administer to your mount.
3. They're simply just a bit under-the-weather. Dragon's don't usually get sick, but today they're just feeling a little more tired, and a little extra exhausted. Nothing some good rest won't fix.

If you're a non-rider, you are starting to feel a bit out of sorts. Roll to see what's wrong!
1. Ugh, you're feeling sick to your stomach as the day wears on. The smell of dinner is...nope. You better find a bucket, FAST!
2. You've got a pounding headache that gets worse and worse. By lunch time it's a full blown migraine, better go lie down somewhere quiet and dark!
3. You just. Can't. Stop. Sneezing. Is this some sort of seasonal allergy? You feel decent, but you can barely talk to anyone for a few days from all the sneezing interruptions.
4. Re-roll on the whole illness grid!

99. You wind up getting miserably ill. You have a high-fever that puts you well in the infirmary. If you're a dragonrider, your dragon is likely going to get very upset! If you've a weyrling, they're going to be in a miserable state of worry and distress! You don't know what you've got but it puts you out for a good two to three sevendays. Fever, chills, aches, pains; you have no appetite and likely wind up dropping some weight from the sickness. Any loved ones or family are likely quite worried.

100. You wind up so sick you actually died. Sorry folks, you didn't make it, and now your family, friends, and loved ones are in mourning. If you're a rider, your dragon Betweens. Any flits you own also Between. If you've a wher, depending on the bond, it might die of grief, or re-bond to someone else in time. If you own a feline, it might die in grief, or re-bond to someone else in time, or go feral. If you're at a Weyr you'll be sent Between, if you're at a Hold or Hall you will likely be taken Between by the watch-dragon or another rider--nobody wants to risk Threadfall eating your bones, after all.

If you roll this and don't want your character to die of illness, then just note that they get terribly sick. It is touch and go, and they might need a month or more before they're genuinely back on their feet and feeling better.

Candidate Prompts

1. You have a secret admirer who starts leaving you small gifts on your cot. Ooh lala, who could it be!?

2. Oh Faranth! You wind up falling down the stairs and wind up spraining your ankle badly. You'll need to see the healers and will likely be hobbling for the next couple months and might be out of commission the next sevenday at least!

3. It's your turn to help out in the kitchens but oh man, what a mess you've made. You were supposed to be watching a pot or a tray over the fire, and get distracted. Roll a D4 to see what you were cooking and how bad the main course of the meal is burned!

• 1. It's a bit crispy but almost edible if you close your eyes and pretend its meat.
• 2. The soup boiled over and it looked all right (despite about three inches of burned goo and a pot that no longer can be used). Unfortunately, no amount of salt or pepper is going to hide that charred taste that has permeated throughout the entire batch.
• 3. ...Black can be eaten, right? ... No. Looks like it's salad for dinner because the meat is so charred and blackened nothing living would bother. You basically cooked ashed. Good job.
• 4. Whatever it was, it is literally on fire and now there's a fire in the lower Caverns. How did you even-- Ho boy. They take care of the fire, but you'll likely be unwelcome in the kitchens anytime soon. If you are sent back, you'll likely be under strict watch.

4. Senpai has noticed you! Someone you admire, lookup to, or crush on, has actually come up to talk to you, and might even be (perhaps) flirting? Doesn't matter if you're a taken Candidate or not... Someone out there is suddenly acknowledging you, and your heart is starting to get a little bit aflutter. Strange. [Note: This doesn't mean they have to return the admiration or feelings. This could be something like a harmless crush or something like meeting a hero!]

5. Someone started a rumor about you! How dare! Roll to see if it's a good or bad rumor.

• 1. The rumor is you and [pick another Candidate] are secretly in love!
• 2. The rumor is you're sleeping with the Candidatemaster, oh my. Maybe that's why you're getting such high marks.
• 3. Your Search wasn't really legitimate. They only brought you to the Weyr because you were fine to look at or you offered them a few favors, ifyouknowhatwemean.
• 4. You're going get kicked out due to too many Canddiates and not enough clutches. Better start packing--they heard the Candidatemasters and Assistants talking about it!
• 5. You're rumored to be on the Weyrmate, Bed, or Between list for your crush, or at least a popular group of Candidates! Roll a D3 to see which one you're now known to be on!
• 1. Weyrmate -- Oooh! At least you know you'll be good to meet the parents someday.
• 2. Bed: Ooh lala! Sounds like you're bringing sexy back!
• 3. Between: Ouch! ....better luck on some other list.

6. You're called into the Candidatemaster's Office, dundunDUN! Roll to see if it's for something good or something awful. You also can roll to see if it's good or bad and then reach out to the Candidatemaster to plot out what sort of good or awful thing happened as well as an appropriate reward or punishment!
• 1.Very Good: The Candidatemaster has noted strong leadership qualities in your recent activities and chores. They see how excellent you've been, and wanted to commend you, and encourage you to keep up the great work. You earn one extra rest-day this next sevenday! Good job!
• 2.Good: They wanted to thank you for helping out some of the Candidates that were struggling during lessons/chores the other day. You earn a half-day rest this next sevenday!
• 3. Neutral: The Candidatemaster just wanted to tell you your chores are being switched for the week, on account of one of your peers getting a sprained ankle.
• 4. Bad: The Candidatemaster thinks you're not taking lessons seriously enough. You've been assigned a five-page essay on the subject due in a sevenday.
• 5. Very Bad: One of the Craftmasters said your latest round of chores weren't finished and were rushed through before you left for the day. To make up for the sloppy work, you'll be assigned half-a-days work of chores on your next two rest days to ensure you're not cutting any corners.

[Please note, if any of these punishments or praises are completely out of character, feel free to make up something equivalent that would get your character into (or out of) trouble.]

7. It's a rest-day! See what happens! Roll a D100 to see what happens on your restday:
• 1-10. The Candidatemaster has decided to reward you by allowing you clearance to enjoy a beach-side picnic. Roll a second D100 to see what happens!
• 1-10: You got too much sun! Oh noes! You come back to the Weyr crispy...but maybe your crush/love interest/someone sympathetic will help apply some numbweed. Ouch!
• 11: You caught firedhead. Crap. You'll be out of commissions about a sevenday, sick as a canine.
• 12-80: Just a fine day on the beach with some sand, waves, and fun. Nothing much out of the ordinary, but it's nice to be out of the Weyr for a change.
• 81-90: You find a firelizard nest! It's clearly a greenclutch but it looks like tunnelsnakes have gotten to it. For shame.
• 91-95: You find a gold firelizard carefully guarding her clutch. She hisses and dive at you, and doesn't let you near.
• 96-97: You make several attempts to find a firelizard egg, but no luck! The beaches are seemingly empty! All that wasted time for nothing.
• 98: You manage to get a small egg! .... Unfortunately, you find out too late it's a dud.
• 99: You manage to get a small egg from a seemingly abandoned green clutch! Quote Mr Cheri or Uta in your post so we can confirm the win and get you an egg!
• 100: You manage to get an egg from the gold clutch! The queen fire-lizard finally relents and allows you close enough to take ONE egg. Nobody else is allowed, hiss! Quote Mr Cheri or Uta in your post so we can confirm the win and get you an egg!

• 11-50: You just stay in, laze about, not too much goes on good or bad.
• 51-75: You have a great time with a friend, lover, or just party it up. Coursework be damned, you're going to spend this day off doing what you want to do...at least within the confines of the Weyr.
• 76-85: You slept in, you ate hearty, and you went back to bed. It is a lazy daaaaaaay. Not too good, not too bad, just about right.
• 86-90: You went on a date! ... or at least, may have been asked out on one. Do you stay? Do you go? Is romance in the air? Or are you going to let them down gently? Is it someone you know or is it completely out of the blue? Wow... What a day!
• 91-98: You play some dragonpoker, or some other betting game, but wind up losing horribly. It was good fun, but you're ready to be done. You also may have drank a bit too much, whoops. You might be feeling a hangover tomorrow.
• 99: You play some dragonpoker with some riders and fellow Candidates. Luck is on your side and you wind up winning! You're suddenly sitting on an entire whole mark! Someone's lucky!
• 100: ....you feel awful. Your day off has turned into a day of misery as something you ate did NOT agree with you. You spend most of your time in the latrines feeling awful. Ew.

8. A dragonrider has asked you for help washing and oiling their beast--or you've simply been assigned this as a lesson for the day. Oh wow! How do you feel about it? Does it go well? Roll to see what color you aid! You can find a PC rider, or just assume it's a general wingrider of the Weyr.
1. White
2. Green
3. Blue
4. Brown
5. Bronze
6. Gold

Keep in mind, the bigger the size, the longer it's going to take to finish. Flits might (or might not) come help, and there's no accounting for how the rider and dragon are feeling.

If you choose an NPC, roll another dice and see how the interaction goes! (Or if the PC rider wants to see how it goes, they can also encourage you to roll to kick start plot/RP/banter!)
1. Wow! They were everything you dreamed of, and more. One might almost think you're a super fan of them now or accuse you of having a crush. They were just charming, and wonderful, and amazing--and their dragon was super brilliant and kind to boot! This was the best day ever, even if your muscles are sore and you're soaked to the bone.
2. Things went relatively well. They were kind and nice and you're pretty happy with the event. Getting to see a dragon up-close and personal was pretty swell, and they were grateful for the help.
3. Things went...? It was a lot more work than you thought, and the rider seemed a bit picky, and seemed not to trust you with the job. They seemed to hover, and the dragon's eyes seemed to fleck with red now and then. You're not sure what you did but...uh...you finished up and now can dry off and rest!
4. This wasn't particularly fun at all. The dragon seemed fine but the rider didn't help at all, and seemed more content to let you do the work while they chatted up others around you or their beast. They were also hyper-critical of your work, and made you re-wash areas a few times. You're not sure if the rider actually appreciated the help or just got out of doing the work.
5. It was awful. Both rider and dragon seemed to have no number of complaints, and the dragon seemed to give off a threatening air--even though their rider assured you they were fine with the help. You got growled at, dunked in the water more than the dragon, and the rider had no amount of snappy comments. Eventually the rider got fed up and sent you on your way. How do you feel about it? Were you really that bad or was the pair just that touchy? Do you worry it will come back to the Candidatemaster? Does it change your opinion of the dragon color in question?

9. Just another average day. Nothing too much out of the ordinary happened. You're looking forward to your rest day though. What do you plan to do? Stay in? Go out? (You can't leave the Weyr without permission!) Date night? Maybe make eyes at a crush and pine? Work on a hobby?

10. You wind up having assigned chore duty with someone you absolutely despise. You do NOT like this Candidate at all and hate being around them for whatever reason. Unfortunately, you're stuck with them for at least a sevenday during chore rotation. How does the encounter go? Roll 1-5 or plot it out with an NPC (or a PC if someone wants to offer their character!) to see how they get along.
1. ...there's a fine line between love and hate. By the end of the sevenday you still loathe them and yet...could it be....they're...maybe...kind of...okay? NO! Never. Ever. Eww. Gross. Boo. Hiss. Thou doth protest too much....or....are genuine about it. Who knows!
2. It comes to a head and you wind up getting in a fight with them. Whether it's simply verbal or it comes to blows is up to you. Either way, you are now BOTH in serious trouble and need to report to the Candidatemaster Second (or Candidatemaster) and find out what your punishment is. Please quote/PM/DM the appropriate person to find out! (If it's a bad enough fight you could well lose your Candidacy, for story purposes.)
3. It's a difficult sevenday but you bite your tongue and grudgingly work through your differences. You still hate 'em, but if you ever Impress, you might wind up having to work with difficult people. It's all part of your lessons and training.
4. You actually find out they're not such a bad guy even if they get on your last nerve. There are a few good qualities about them even if they're hard to find.
5. Nope. You still hate their guts and hope to Faranth you never get assigned with them again. May they take a long walk off a short bridge, and your friends wind up hearing all about it. Gossip for the gossip god.

11. You forgot about a test or a project that was due! You know you should have studied hard or paid more attention but you didn't and now you're stuck looking at an exam with questions you just don't know how to answer. Oh, oh Faranth.... What do you do and how do you fare? Pick a path, then roll!

PATH 1 - You are desperate and you wind up trying to cheat. Roll a dice. If it's odd, you get caught, and now must talk to the Candidatemaster Second or Candidatemaster or an Assistant to dole out punishment. If it's even, you're not caught and you can roll a D4 to see if the person you cheated from knew their s**t.
1. Perfect Score! WOW! You did great!
2. Eh, a few wrong but you're still happy. Not bad given you didn't know the answers anyway!
3. That's a lot of wrong answers, and you basically failed, but some points are better than none at all! The Candidatemaster/Second/Assistant is going to likely put you through remedial training if you keep these crap scores up.
4. You failed the whole thing. You didn't get a single one right and now you're being told to take extra lessons on the subject during your free time until you learn this stuff. Great. Just great.

PATH 2 - You don't try to cheat, but this still isn't looking good—what'll you do?
1. You panic and cram as much you can in hopes that you remember a few things. Still, you fail the lesson and are now stuck in remedial classes during your free-time until you pass the exam and the Candidatemaster/Second/Assistant thinks you're knowledgeable.
2. You try to play off sick so you can have a day to study. Roll a dice to see if it's successful or not. Odds are it works! Evens are you get caught and are now in trouble for pretending to be sick and still have to take the test which you wind up failing. Boo.
3. You somehow squeeze by with passing marks. Oh thank Faranth!
4. The test/assignment is miraculously delayed by a day. That gives you at least one more night to study! Phew!

Queen's Wing Threadfall Grid

This is for dragons who fight in the Queen's Wing! This grid is geared towards golds and their riders. That said, feel free to adjust the prompt to fit your rider if needed!

This is for gold riders, or riders who are in the Queen's Wing (older riders that are semi-retired, pregnant green riders, riders returning from injuries and building up stamina/strength again, etc.)

Please roll a D100

• 1: Down, down, down you go--and you're taking a wingmate or two with you! If you were a queen rider, you were practicing an aerial but never even make it. Instead, as you fly higher up to position yourself beneath, your dragon winds up catching a massive clump of Thread instead! The damage is great enough to have the queen drop like a stone. While your wiingmates below will catch you--pain is now all you know.
Roll a D4 to see how bad it is!
1. Permanent Grounding up to Death -- Either dragon and/or rider's injuries are so great they do not survive the encounter. If you do not wish to kill your rider, you may instead elect to have them grounded for 12 months--and there's rumor they still might not fully recover. Loss of limb(s), eyes, and other parts are allowed--but remember, if a dragon loses two limbs or more they will be permanently grounded. The damage is bad and their best recovery still won't be a full recovery. Their lives will need to find a new normal.
2. Major Damage up to Permanent Grounding - Your dragon and/or rider are damaged severely, to the point where there's rumor they might not ever return to the skies again. They will be stuck in the infirmary for 8-10 months before being allowed back to their weyr--and to make it worse, the pair they were trying to save did not survive their injuries. The delay in being taken between due to your injury (and needing another queen to catch them) caused the Threadscore to turn fatal. Oops. Loss of limbs are appropriate, as is major scarring and damage. Even after a full recovery their lives are likely changed.
3. Moderate to Major Damage - Your dragon and/or rider are in a tough spot. They'll be down for 5-6 months, and will be sporting plenty of scars. They'll need time to recover and some rehabilitation before they're able to get back up in the fighting wings. Additionally, the rider they had been trying to save succumbed to his or her injuries due to the delay in being taken Between.
4. Moderate Damage - Your dragon and rider are going to be down 2-3 months, and will now wear some ugly scars. The pain is going to be severe, and you'll likely spend the next month in the infirmary before being able to return to your weyr. While you are expected to make a full recovery, you and your dragon both will be scoring some permanent and ugly scarring.

• 2-10: You done ******** up. You don't know what happened but you're flying away with possible injury and loss to the Holds/Halls below. Roll an extra D100 to see how long you're out!
1-50. You're down an entire sevenday. The only good news is the patch of Thread landed on you and your queen instead of the Holds/Halls below.
51-80: Three sevendays. The damage is bad enough that you and your dragon are going to need time to
81-90: One to Three months.

• 11: Perhaps you were feeling over-confident. Up until now, everything was going great. Wheeling, diving, and sweeping up the Thread, you are helping to ensure nothing gets through. But a particularly strong gust has even your powerful dragon being thrown through the sky. Not only do you find yourself in the middle of a patch of Thread--ow, ow, ow--by the time you return from the cold of Between and make another wheel something snaps. You feel it, and like slow motion, your find yourself leaving your dragon's seat and plummeting down. Thankfully...something else goes taught, and you find yourself now hanging a bit precariously off your dragon's neck--with nothing but one safety-strap keeping you hanging in place. Your dragon tries to correct, but it is a terrifying moment. Either your straps had a weakness, or Thread had nibbled a little too long at some of the tasty leather. Alternatively, you just have bad luck... No, you do not fall off your dragon completely, but you in no way can continue fighting until you do something about your terribly loose straps. (And maybe get that threadscore looked at, yeah?) This is why backup straps are always needed--let's hope you have some, because if not, enjoy breaking the news to your Weyrwoman. (Thread damage is not terrible--but it will be uncomfortable, along with your strap shame.)

• 12-50: You flew beautifully! In fact, you did everything you were supposed to do, and more. You didn't let a single strand of Thread through, and are feeling great by the time you land. Hold your head up proud cause that's what dragonriding's all about!

• 51-60 You were there to help rescue a fallen wingmate! Roll a D4 to see how successful you were during the catch!
1. Whoops-- You missed. Thankfully, one of your wingmates was assisting and managed to get it right where you failed.
2. Uh-oh. You manage to at least break the initial fall, but the dragon still winds up falling off your wings just due to a bad angle. Thankfully, one of your fellow queens was there to assist and help bring them back to the Weyr safely. [If your dragon's Target Accuracy is more than 25, you can turn this roll into a 3 instead.]
3. Good job! You manage to catch them--though they've now left you a bit bruised and your back a bit sore. Though they slid a bit on your wing, you manage to keep them on your back, and return them safely back to the Weyr. Yes! [If your Queen's Target Accuracy is more than 50 you can turn this roll into a 4 instead.]
4. Great job! You were flawless as you manage to sweep up your wingmate without issue! They land perfectly on your back, and you manage to bring them back to the Weyr without incident or injury. [Gain +1 Target XP - if Target XP is max, you may put it in another stat instead.]

• 61-75 You flew fair-to-midlin. Some strands and patches were missed--easy ones, too, that you know you should have been able to catch--but not every Fall is a triumph. At minimum, you did the best you could, and while you are sore, and tired, and might have a few small injures to tend to--you did all right. Not every Fall needs someone singing your praise... but maybe you can do better next time.

• 76-80 You're on fire! You're able to help save one of your wingmates from certain disaster. That has you feeling pretty good! Right until your dragon has to swerve out of the way of a fallen sack of firestone and winds up injured instead! By Faranth, what was going on up there!? Roll to see where the damage hit:
1. The face -- your dragon's beautiful, beautiful face is now sporting some ugly scars.
2. The neck -- well, that's going to burn and hurt for the next sevenday.
3. Their shoulder, your leg -- Owwwwwwww. You may have to hobble around a little bit.
4. The back -- Right between the shoulders. Thankfully, the injury isn't so bad as to damage the network of muscles and tendons that allow a dragon to fly--but it's going to be sore for them.

• 81-85 Someone in one of the wings has perished. You only know because your dragon starts to keen. The details are fuzzy at best, but one of your wingmates is no more. Grief wells up inside you--no matter how well you know them or not, they were part of the Weyr, and your dragon's grief consumes your personal feelings--or adds to them. Roll a D4 and see which wing lost the rider! Please notify the shop so we can find out who might have been lost.
1. Burning Aces / Star Flame
2. Trespassers / Fire Storm
3. Harbingers / Flame's Fury
4. Weyrling Wing (if no Weyrling Wing, than choose or re-roll!)

• 86-90 Mmm, mmm, MMM! You can't help yourself. While you're keeping an eye on the skies above, you spent the entire Threadfall trying to get your thoughts under control. For some reason, any time you had a free moment, your thoughts would drift back to imagining a certain someone in some mighty fine, very tight, wherhide pants or other naughty gear.... and that's not a fantasy that's easy to shake. By the time Fall is over, you're a bit hot under the collar, and probably in need of a cold bath.

• 91-95
Ouch, ouch, ouch! This is utter catastorphe. You find yourself getting severely injured and it had nothing to do with a jammed flamethrower. Instead, you are going to be down for longer than you had expected,. While it wasn't as bad as it could have been.... You're going to grounded for some time.

Roll to see how long this injury to you (or your dragon, or both) is going to take to recuperate from! Roll a D6 and have fun:
1. Three sevendays
2. A month
3. A month and a half
4. Two months
5. Two and a half months
6. Three months

• 96-98 No muss, no fuss--everything's fine here. Everything's perfectly fine, how are you? Honestly, everything happened just as you'd planned for, and you and your dragon made it out with nary a scratch! Be proud. Surely, you and your gold will be needed to help reassure those dragons who are upset or suffering.

• 99 Your dragon has a keen eye, and notices something far below. Sure enough, there appears to be someone caught outside during Fall! Well, that most certainly won't do. Your queen notifies one of the fighting dragons in the Low Altitude Wing, Queen's Wing, or weyrlings to swoop down and bring that person to safety--stat. You make a note to check on them once Fall is over and see what that's all about!

• 100
HIghway to the Danger Zone! You probably aren't going to remember the details of how this came to pass, but something went so awry so badly that you and your dragon wound up forever changed. Roll a d6 and see the extent of your injuries. If your dragon has already lost a limb, or you have, and you lose enough--that is too many limbs. You and your dragon will now be permanently grounded.

1. An eye -- 2-3 months grounded
2. An arm -- 6-8 months grounded
3. A foot / leg -- 8-12 months grounded
4. Dragon's tail fork -- 3 months grounded (mostly to relearn how to fly/balance)
5. Permanently grounded -- major wingsail or wingbone loss, multiple limb loss, etc.
6. Death of rider, dragon, or both

If you roll 5 or 6 and don't like the result, feel free to re-roll a 1 through 4! You may also consider other extensive injuries that aren't listed--it just has to be bad and keep them down that number of months.
