They had waited so long to pass to the safelands that many in the pride grew restless. When the pride had left, they left with few cubs, but, as the pride waited to send a diplomatic foray, there were.... Incidents.
Well, more like children, born into the pride as others grew, and now there were many vulnerable in need of safety. And maybe she didn't ask the leaders but surely she'd please them with her initiative. Or tick her mother off -- she didn't know. But she did know they needed to resettle -- and it had been so long, maybe the hellgate calmed. So, the dark Chil gathered a secret group to scout it, ensuring she asked aid of some jotunns to do so, and the lioness moved towards their ancient home.
Enteringthe Aegnor territory borders was already an adventure. Black stone erased the surviving, burnt out trees and brush of their jungle, and the chil paused as a paw rest on warm -- but not hot basalt.
"An ill omen." Spoke up Nanoh. The jotunn-born moved forwardm nuch younger, far more deft in movement, and no less keen eyed. Definately not a stone I remember when we left, very black." Nanoh said, and Calithil nodded, turning.
"Alright. We're on the old borders, friends. Let's spread out and look for signs of anything familiar. Be careful, we don't know what this black stone is, but it seems related to the Hellgate. Let's see what we can find before we move further in.

Welcome to the Aegnor'hini Home Scouting Party! With the war in Heaven concluded and prides to wrap up theuir messes, while the main pride waits this scouting party is here to see if maybe the Hellgate's calmed enough to move back in and maybe spare the Savannah a roving horde of demons.
If you signed up for the Kizi Diplomacy party, you may NOT post here! These SoA aren't part of that group -- come on with 200+ members there's room for several groups to work.
Up to 3 SoA per player, for any non-official posts,. This' more your sanity than mine.
Moricorm, Nyota, Hakuna, and Tuli, Primitus, Aanga, and Thorin do NOT know Calithil is taking out a scoiuting party. Your SoA might've left a scratching on the way out, but they won't know until after this!
This ORP is open to demons and rogues who might be curious/want to join Calithil welcomes all the help shecan get. This does NOT include adols or cubs. Adults only please!
This RP is dangerous. Your SoA may die or be injured very badly. I will not be forcing this on ANYBODY but I will state that IC actions will be handled with IC consequences -- Nanoh knows the ways to handle the terrain being a Dvergr's child as all Jotunn might, but it's not going to help if somebody does something incredibly stupid. This is mostly relevant nearer to the volcano.
* The results of this ORP will have IC consequences for the pride -- the group is gathering information on the Hellgate's state with the War in Heaven over, and as such there's some definate long-term effects from the Hellgate awakening to pride territory!
Phase 1 - Searching the border
Your first duty is to assess the border. Be it through samples, trophies, or more, the pride will want evidence of the territory's condition. Roll 1 D10 for the following. To note, if you post for 3 SoA, roll 3 D10s in the same post. At 100 points, the party will move in -- so whomever rolls those last points, quote me. I do ask people keep tally below their posts as well.

Calithil was not idle. As her group moved in to start searching for signs the Hellgate calmed, the dark lioness moved, paws crossing the area carefully as she saught some sign of hope. The groumnd was warm and seemed almostlike there was still heat from the angry, smoking mountain in the area -- but... Surely not srill, Calithil hoped. She shifted, and paused, picking up some shiny black stones, one paw grazing them. How odd, how they flaked -- butthey shone like demon's eyes. Calithil hummed, deciding to carrythe stones for now, and tyurned.
Nanoh was closeby herself, studying the warm ground. The brown Jotunn shifted pace as she moved, finding an area of the strange stone to break off, neatly stowing it. It was warm, blackish dark grey, and oidd -- poerhaps the Jotunns at home may tell her what it was, and thatthought drew Nanohto look for sites of more sampoles, Calithil nodding.
"We'll need to get a few more samples of things out here, and then we'll move into the normal areas." CValithil said firmly.
They had to know -- was it safe? Or what?
Group points - 56. We can do it!

Quote: 7. You find a scorched and blackened small branch to return home with as proof of what happened. Zulvan ended the line of his siblings, bringing up the rear with a confidence that well fit his massive shoulders and the full shape of his mane. He was no longer the awkward cub that had first come into the Aegnor'hini between his mother's paws. He had grown into the land as surely as he had his own fur, come to care for it and the demons that called it home. As such, to see the Hellsgate turn against them was absolutely appalling. Though he put on a brave face, as was his responsibility, their time out in the roguelands had been untenable to the young male. When word reached his ear about scouting out what was left of home, well. What else was he to say?
Besides, his sisters seemed of the same mind. Zul's eye caught on something on the ground, stirring in vain from a pile of the smooth black stone that had overtaken their home. Some kind of plant, so it seemed to him; perhaps a part of their jungle, once upon a time. Whatever it was, it took but a moment to pry up its charred remains and sweep them into the small pouch resting over his flank. If destruction like this was what the mountain was really capable of, he would be remiss if he didn't come along to keep an eye on them.
Quote: 8. You find some small shiny black stones. They seem sharp, and flakes when you claw it -- it's obsidian and makes a lovely prize! The big red male wasn't the only one keeping an eye on a sibling. Shiba kept at Nanoh's heels, scouting the black rocks with an equal, if not greater trepidation. Always had the Hellsgate made him uneasy. Now it was all too simple to see why! "Would'ja look at it all! It's everywhere." He frowned, though amazement was plain in his tone.
Would that he might have spent more time looking at the ground at his feet instead of that in the distance, Shiba might have avoided stepping on a bit of the warm stone that was more disturbed than the rest. He yelped - a sound that was not quite the growl he wanted it to be, but mercifully avoided anything closer to a yip - and immediately inspected the offending paw for damage. There was nothing but scattered shards of black stone, and just a bit of his blood. Bitey little things, those! Still, the craftsman gathered the shards, and found himself fascinated with their implications. Locally-sourced stone that bit back? That could be downright useful.

It was good the party was careful, Calithil noted silently. The ground was warm, peices broke off, plants had died, and the shiny black stones turning up.... Calithil was careful to help everyone present store anything they found into small pouches. The Hellgate had certainly caused change, and it almost begged the question: Was the Hellgate angry with them, or something else? Calithil frowned as Nanoh drew near, carrying her own pouch before Calithil spoke to those assembled.
"I think," The demon heiress said softly, "That we will need these to show the leaders. We have not seen stones like this before and it will do us well to bring proof the lands seem different so far back with us. Come, friends -- let us draw deeper."
The dark demon turned, padding towards the heart, the gellgate volcano, with confidence despite not knowingthe terrain as she once did, Nanoh following her.
As the party travelled, it became clear the land was differtent -- more cooled flows loomed, the dark pathways almost a demonic carpet forthem -- the ground remained warm and firm, until finally Nanoh moved off. Taking cue, Calithil followed suit and motioned her pridemates do the same quickly -- there was no harm in caution nor mindingthe way. There were less plants as they moved andm hauntingly, no bones, at least, no bones they might consider tied to the Hellgate's eruption. But there was more. When they drew closest, it was warm == almost as if taking the trial, but not unbearable. Closest to the volcano, cracks in the matte grey stones showed the tell-tale glow of lava still cooling, not moving. Above, the volcano smoked, a warning the Hellgate was awakened and strong.
Many woiuld find their demons murmuring to life, if quiet-- find the demons weithin responding to the change. Some seemed homesick -- others wary, even... Upset.
Calithil frowned as her own inner demon roiled at this change, and hummed before motioning.
"Alright. We need to find some samples, we--
And then Nanoh moved, pawing at a space breifly, and sighed, turning.
"Uh, guys?" She interrupted. "I don't think we can go in anymore."
The Entrance to the caverns is closed off by a pile of stone. Was it the eruption? A lava flow? More importantly, can they find any access to the Tunnels?
It's a rolling section again for24 Hourss (Or until Nova's home for the day, w/e comes first). If you still haven't come in, you're welcome, as long as you are not in the Kizi Diplomat Party, nor a Sador. It's much too dangerous for them!
Roll 1 D10 for every SoA you intend to post, and refer to the chart for what happens. There's a special option, and you may post as often as you wantuntil the next Meta post! I wiull not be rolling this round.
If you roll....
1. Oh no! Yoiu find cracks in the ground but nearly fall in! You nearly fall into range of some dangerous lava! 2-3. You find several hotspots and see a lot of glow nearby. While not in immediate danger the heat drives you away. Darn! 4-5. You find a pool of water but it smells bad and looks murky and greyish. All the fish seem dead too. It's no longer drinkable, butyou can score a big grey matte rock instead of a broken off peice. Useful!
6-7. You find the remains of.... something.... that must've died from something in the area after the evacuation. Well that's just pleasant. You may, however, snag a claw or fang from it -- musty've been a predator.
8-9. You find some old pride scratchings broken off and laying around, and save them like the true demon within! This preserves history! 10. You found something spoecial! QUOTE NOVACRACKER IMMEDIATELY.
