Outside of the inner wall which is home to the samurai class are the workers who tend to the fields beyond the wall. The higher ranking samurai own the giant patches of farmland surrounding Zaishin City. Their workers at the bottom of the feudalistic system lived in the overcrowded hovels outside of the wall but near the lands.
