The elder toad croaked once as it dropped the the tree, ground rumbling slightly as he held the sword within his webbed limb and the naked steel was exposed as he drew the blade. The wanderer that was named Kairi spoke of the feeling, but the toad gave grunting chuckle of a reply as he was only feeling the natural tune of the air. "No Jutsu, only the pungent stench of an old toad, human and natural energy around us." He joked as the toad assumed a stance likely not possible for most of his species, taking to two feet.
He swung, a great pressure coiled around the two as the toad directed an unseen force to the center of peninsula at a rock jutting out from the ground. The cut was quick as in a sonic boom, the pressure wave made contact and the boulder was consumed by a vortex of circulating wind shears and in under a second, it was no more by a patch of gravel. The elder toad croaked again and flourished the blade in his hands, driving it back home into the ornate sheath as the toad wobbled over to the fresh scene of destruction and... plomp, sat atop the gravel and croaked again.
"That is what you humans refer to as senjutsu. Using natural energy to enhance something you have." The toad explained as he croaked, pulling the nodachi from the obi and now he laid it upon the ground in front of him eyes narrow to almost as if they were shut. "A strange peace, yes. Serenity I would not say so, humans use natural chakra to aid themselfs selfishly at times. That rock I just destroyed was a pupil of mine once, he turned to stone when he tried to tap into the natural energy. Quite the loss, but he was arrogant and rude."
The toad opened his eyes and moved his webbed foot, the ground shaking as he manipulated chakra through different gestures. Smooth stone rose opposite of the grass of which his sword laid on. "If you wish, sit. I used natural energy in the earth, get a feel for it and then we can discuss what you seek. Your weapons by mine if you please, a gesture of talks between my kin and your's that had been tradition if you'll humor me."

Kairi sat alone in the middle of an open field. He had become far too familiar with this open area. It was a peaceful area where he had come to practice his senjutsu and learn the ways of ninjutsu. Fifteen years of being a shinobi, but never did he have time to sit down and actually educate himself on the finer points of what it meant to be a shinobi and the finer arts of ninjutsu and chakra control. He even found time to figure out exactly what the gifts of his blood were and how they worked. [1/1]
Weaving his left arm through the air he took a deep breath and channeled his chakra into his arm. It was a simple gesture but he had learned to provide great strength to the motion. All around him the temperature dropped intensely and a whirling vortex of ice and snow manifested itself around him. The chilled air even formed frost and snow upon the ground, soon replaced by sheets of ice hardening the leaves and destroying the little foliage which covered the area. Even that was just a piece of the power he had found. [1/1]
Ice at its core, was death. Its state was only possible due to the removal of heat and energy. Energy was life and the absence of life was death. It was an interesting realization when he came to it. He had dedicated his life to the preservation of life, not its destruction. Yet here he was "blessed" with this gift of death and destruction. Fire brought life by germinating seeds. Earth brought stability by creating strong foundations. Water gave way for all creatures to live. Electricity even powered the hearts of man, making it beat. Even air spread seeds and gave man breath. Yet Ice's sole purpose was destruction, death, and devastation. It was part of the reason he never resorted to study it nor use it. But that type of behavior wasn't an option any longer. He had a duty to protect Uzu's people, and now the frogs he was sworn to. [1/1]
While ice was a rather complex nature to manipulate, Kairi let himself smile just a bit as he shifted his training on to one of its base elements. Water was something he felt the greatest kinship with. It was thought the source of all life. Waving his hand back and forth before him he smiled as the water formed along the trail of his fingers growing larger with each pass. With a snap of his fingers he gave a small chuckle as the water turned to large senbon knives and raced forth through the light brush shredding small holes as they went. [1/1]
Water was adaptable, it bended but did not break. It adjusted and flowed around that which it could not break. Rising from his stone he held his hands to his sides and closed his eyes. Breathing deeply he slowly raised his hands and flooded the air with his chakra. All around him a cylinder of water rose raging and flowing, yet contained. It was beautiful and terrifying all at once to the man. With a snap of the fingers on both hands he froze its entirety and destroyed it with a single motion. The shattered ice littered the area in icy dust, rendering it a almost winter snowy-esk scene. [1/1]

The last 5 years had not been fairly kind to Makara. With people on the rise of increasing their security, any trips to Konoha were now dashed thanks to those walls of theirs. She couldn't scale them without being caught and she couldn't even hang around for fun. The beast had taken to the mountains and intro strange lands before becoming so lost and unsure of what grew near. Her limbs took her across the mountains on her daily hunter for food before coming across a most strange discovery. Another human had come into the mountain area. She had been worried what damage he might do here considering their kind just loved to make a wasteland of everything around them but he was just...standing there. Makara's tongue flickered, tasting the air there as she watched with great interest. He was silently but there was a strange energy in the air. One she hadn't tasted or sensed before. He would summon a torrent of water near his position and freeze it using only with a snap of her fingers. The creature's tail snaked around the rocks as her curiosity would get the better of her yet again. She began to draw closer quietly, on all fours as her tongue waved to sample the air around her. The air was a bit colder coming near him but all the strange elements being displayed was just too much to be ignored.

In the five years, six months, two weeks, four days, and five hours since he had been in the sage lands. He had regularly encountered what he could only classify as "weird s**t" He had eaten worms, bathed in weird liquids, and eaten weird plants. One of which had given him a really really unpleasant hallucination trip. Yet, the being he new sensed approaching him, and seen upon turning on his little stump bore no ill will to him. He could sense neither hostility nor malicious intent in general from it. IT given that he had no idea what under the gods' sky it was. It appeared to be a lizard of sorts, which was hardly a "enemy" of his protected frogs, a friend if nothing else. Tilting his head to the side he blinked,"Well you are an odd one arn't you. Can you speak?" Given the number of conversations he had enjoyed over the course of time he was here with the various frogs and wildlife, it was a valid question.

OK, so it seemed that she could in fact, not speak. This was more than likely do to the fact that her teeth were something straight out of a shark mutants mouth. Definitively something to keep and eye on to be sure. Though when she reached forward he neither held nor showed any fear. After all he still did not sense any hostile intent from the being. She nodded her head up and down the fastest she had ever before, jumping onto all fours again while her tail coiled around her the back of her feet. Slowly, she was raised into the air while searching around for any nearby prey with her tail, supporting her weight. After a minute or so, Makara dropped down on the ground, sniffing around for any traces around them. Her eyes flickered back to the man in confusion. Why wasn't he tracking around as well?

This outfit always made so much noise, but her footfalls were so quiet now that she needed it. A nickname that would never grace the mouth of another person in her lifetime.
Yuki-Onna's attention was snatched from her mind upon hearing the voice of a male. Looking up from the ground she had been so intently staring at brought her hazel eyes down upon a black haired male and... lizard girl? Mother, the strange things she saw while traveling. She didn't know the lizard girl, but the male she recognized from Lahlil's tellings. Kairi, missing in action for several years now.
Well, not anymore.
Careful, deliberate steps brought her over to the pair. Her voice, when she spoke, was calm and melodic. She and James had practiced this voice, specifically produced to bring calm in patients. "Kairi from Konoha, correct? They've been looking for you. Disappearing without a moment's notice is not a sign of good manners." She stood still, eyes watching the male wearily over the veil covering the lower portion of her face. One clawed finger tapped against her clasped hands, waiting.

Kairi would give a simple chuckle at the creatures excitement. Clearly it was hungry so rising from his stump he headed to the tree where his weapons and backpack was sitting up against. Reaching into the pack he pulled out a brown paper sack. Wrapped in the sac was bundles of jerky, one of which he pulled and tossed to the creature. Pulling out a piece for himself he made a display of eating it so that the creature would understand it wasn't poison or anything. Just preserved and salted meat. Taking his seat once more he turned his eyes to the jingling woman while raising a brow at her words. How did she know his name and where he was? He did not tell a soul of where he had gone nor even that he was leaving. Hunter ninja? Possibly. But why would a hunter come after him? Letting out a sigh he turned to the small creature and nodded gesturing to the stump. Intending for it to use the stump as cover if he had to fight.
Clearing his throat he took a deep breath in through his nose and out through his mouth as he began,"Its pretty bad manners to insult another persons manners without knowing them or introducing yourself as well. As far as giving a heads up. That your leaving implies someone will care that your gone. Skipping past how you know my name, I am not Kairi from Konoha anymore. Nor have I been such for twelve years. Not since the village was burned to the ground." He let his right hand fall from its folded position with the left to his right hip to trace across the old and scuffed and damaged konoha headband he still wore. Tied directly next to it was also the Uzushio headband also scratched and damaged from wear and combat. His question to the woman was a simple one and just like him,"So, your clearly not here to kill me, unless your gonna break my mind in half with genjutsu first. So what can the sage of frogs do for you?"

Makara let out a guttural noise while Kairi one of his bags nearby and pulled out a sack. The smell alone was enough for her mouth to water as the strong aroma of cured jerky was born into the air. With a flick of the wrist he tossed one to her while she leaned back and tried to catch it. The piece of jerky fell onto her forehead, where it was lifted off of with her tongue and held while watching the man as he ate the meat first. Just one of those things. You always watched the somebody else take the first bite of a food you've never tasted before. Her frog-like tongue reeled it back in while the creature happily munched to its heart's content. Just as Makara was enjoying the last of the jerky in her mouth, a strange jingling came to be known. She rose to attention while making a sound that maybe was like a growl, pacing around while searching for the source of where the noise was coming from.
The figure approached the two. It was a woman clearly based off of the sound of their voice. For as threatening and mysterious as the lady appeared, her voice was anything but. It was like a familial tone. Of a woman speaking with her children. She looked over at the male and tilted her head to the side while her tongue snaked out of her mouth again, potentially to suck up any traces of the jerky from before. Mlem.
