So the rumors were true. Kogarashi was driven out of the land of giman. It certainly made the location a lot quieter, which allowed Byakko to better enjoy his cigarette. The tiger broke through the double doors of the church before the man sauntered in. It was strange to think that he once had to serve Evergreen in this domain. Now that he was his own man, he had new plans for this place. "It's time to make this a base of operation. We have a lot to prepare for, so let's get moving." The man said as the tiger roared in compliance. Now that they were both on the war path, their synergy was unmatched.

The way back from the mines was long and arduous though Oyuun faced little hardships in doing so. The entrance to Giman was as busy as ever. Ever since Kogarashi had been driven from the lands business was a lot less hostile. It was pristine grounds for an aspiring worker to make a name for themselves such as her! But before anything could be done, Oyunn dumped her load out back at her inn room before going to explore the village more. It certainly wasn't her old home in the mountains but a nice keepsake. Maybe her old man was watching over her that way. Today's expedition lead her towards an old church that was sparsely visited. Some residents and people going by had used them before but weren't a hot tourist trap.
Oyuung opened the doors and stuck her head inside of the building. A bit musty but not in total ruin like some stories. "Anyone home?" she asked, shutting the door behind her. There was a smell of smoke coming from somewhere inside but no flames following. It was a good sign but also showed that she wasn't alone inside of the church. "I'm just a drifter. Not like I could hurt you if I could."
Oyuun’s initial entry was initially unremarked upon. It would be easy for the girl to feel as though she was alone. However, from the open doorway behind her a large tiger blocked the doorway. His feral roar was both an intimidation tactic and a means of distraction. The idea was for the startled girl to turn around so that the human side of Byakko could slip in to the front of the church. “Don’t mind him. You know cats; they never have the best bed side manners.” He said charmingly. Byakko then left the front and approached the unfamiliar girl. “Strange to see a new face. Are you perhaps a believer of the teachings of Evergreen?” He asked warmly. Despite the gentle words, they were very much a threat. If the girl was devout Evergren follower then Byakko would smite her where she stands.

Her entrance was greeted by a loud, ferocious roar of a tiger somewhere nearby. She jumped at the roar and swung around to greet whatever beast was going to pounce on her. The beast in question, a magnificent white and black tiger laid beyond her personal space who eyed her with a fierce look in his eyes. s**t. Had she wandered into somebody's stomping grounds? Oyuungcheng chewed the inside of her cheek and turned back around just in time for a tall man to appear in the previously empty space that was devoid of life the few seconds ago before she investigated the noise. At least this man was much more approachable.
"Heh, I bet. He's gorgeous though." She smirked a bit at his remark. She had always been more of a cat person herself. Though cats and felines large enough to not tear her open were among her most favorite kinds. The mysterious man approached her. During which, she would size him up out of habit. He didn't appear to be possessing a weapon of any kind. At least not yet anyway. Oyuun tilted her head at his question. "Everwho?" It was a name or a group of religious beliefs she hadn't heard before. Maybe in passing but it was very clear that the woman possessed as much knowledge of the religion as one of the roasted ducks for sale in the markets.
"I'm not, sorry. I come from a city hidden in the mountain, a craftman's paradise. Steel, swords, even people. If it can be sold, it can be found there. They didn't take kindly to an outsider by blood by raised by one of their own. I've stayed at Gimankure for a month now, I just came to explore around some. Some people spoke about an old church."
Oyuun's tale was an audited version. It was passable and didn't get into specifics exactly. Like that time she tried to mix powders and almost sent the school's furnace sky high with how much pressure that was inside. Or when she insulted the throne and the founders for their stance of non-blooded members during her process of getting evicted not a day after her father's passing. "And so, here I am. Oyuuncheng, Oyuun or Oyu for short. Not exactly the greatest start to my own tale." she chuckled. "I may not have the skill of the legendary smiths but I can do what's needed."
Byakko was originally confused about the validity of this girl. For her to randomly walk into the temple of Evergreen with not even a passing knowledge of the Goddess seemed a tad too convenient. However, as one who has taken the confession of sinners, this woman's voice seemed to mask nothing. Her efforts seemed earnest, and a craftsman... woman seemed like it could have some merit. "Skills are honed through practice. If you have the drive to practice, then your efforts will be rewarded." He said as he lit a cigarette. His arm extended to offer the woman a smoke. If she accepted or not his arm would retreat to his side once the offer was dealt with. "I forgot where, but I have a workshop attached to this church. You may use it to bolster your talents. Prove to be competent, and I will give you fifty thousand ryo for the construction of a prominent weapon." He said. As a sign of good faith, his hand reached behind him and pulled out a wad of cash. "Since resources have a cost, take a forward loan of ten thousand. Consider it an investment." He said with a smile which did not cross his full face.

▱▰▱Night blue hues glowed through Kenshin's ever-sharpening squinted eyes as he approached Byakko. "Do you know who I am?" Kenshin immediately interrogated Byakko without any idle pleasantries. He glared around the area to see the temple that the heretic disgraced with his mere presence. "How dare you stand in this sacred place after you betrayed our goddess?" The grand templar of Evergreen viewed Byakko as an afront and he would do what was necessary by his duty to protect the temple. Kenshin's righteous anger was unbound even as he maintained a focused and meditative state. "Return the hachibi to Arashigakure's ownership or face the full might of its sannin, thief." Kenshin had a score to settle with this man as he conjured a rapier at his hip. It was made of dark blue spirit energy that was not chakra but some sort of almost-otherworldy ethereal energy. It matched the dark blue light blaring from the floral design of his tenseigan, however. He rested his right hand on the rapier's handle and awaited Byakko's response.

It was a whiskey kind of day. Or was it a whiskey kind of evening? Day and night felt interchangeable as Byakko rested himself in the front most empty pew of Evergreen's church. His right hand held mindlessly the remnants of an empty bottle while his left gently stroke the soft hairs of his tiger; his other self. Although he could not get drunk, the taste of alcohol helped him focus his thoughts. He had been alone with them for quite a while, as even the howling echoes of the demon within him has grown silent as the breeze. There was an everlasting tranquility in the moment, as he finally found solace in isolation. Originally he squirmed from it at every opportunity; trying to find refuge in old allies or new rogues. But now he found the company of his two companions to be the only company he needed. However, the loud slamming of his church doors did rile the tiger, forcing Byakko as well to turn to the direction of the nose.
His sober eyes caught sight of the first thing which made him feel fear since his battle with Evergreen. Kenshin's comment was sharp and cruel, but even without it Byakko had no problem recognizing Evergreen's favorite child. Kenshin Kosei; The master of the tenseigan. Evergreen had Byakko do missions in service of Kenshin; cleaning up rogues which threatened his duties with the APD and ensuring that the benefits of his religion reached the people of Konoha. It was almost humorous when the man critiqued him for 'defiling' the holy house of that wretched, evil woman. Of course Kenshin didn't know how evil she was, since she loved him. But those she cared not for, or those she had outward disdain for, were the ones who suffered under her wrath. And that wrath was once again aimed at the demon Evergreen aimed to banish from all of reality; the eight tailed Gyuki.
"I know this man. He severed my horn from my head!" A voice awoke inside of him and growled with a rage. The howling reverberated through the tiger, whose body tensed at the display of power emanating from Kenshin. The tiger's mind was also linked to the demon, and its animalistic impulses echoed the fury and fear he felt. "This man is no ally. He will tear your head off and allow Evergreen to purge me. We cannot allow him to make the first strike." As the tiger lowered his body to pounce, however, a hand rose in front of him. Byakko stood up and positioned himself between the tiger and the human, showing no signs of hostility. His eyes turned to the woman in the back of the room, whose timid body language seemed keen on keeping the bloodshed to a minimal as well. A faint reflection of pain and torment returned to Kenshin, who he hoped was more reasonable than this needless display of bravado.
"I cannot in good conscious hand Gyuki to you. I recognize that I stole him from Konoha, but that was under the orders of Evergreen." He began, seeing how much truth Kenshin knew about the situation which led to his boon of power. Inquisitive eyes watched over the knight for any weakness in his resolve. "She had the demon sealed inside of me for the sake of purging the world of Jashin. The ritual she would have performed would have severed the demon on a molecular level. And to make sure I wouldn't flee or fight back, she killed a Konoha anbu agent in front of me. A good man by the name of Toboe Hatake." Pain tensed Byakko's body as he was forced to recall that horrific memory. His arms folded and his gaze fell away and into recollection. However, his resolve returned to him as he this time faced Kameyo.
"I cannot let him go to his end. I refuse to let Evergreen take anymore life from me. However, I am willing to place the demon into someone who will ensure his safety. Someone who will guarantee that whatever sorcery she performs that he will live. So to that end I cannot trust the demon to you, Kenshin Kosei. You walk into this church to a man unarmed and draw forth your blade and activate the eyes of the goddess. If your ally is of a more reasonable mind then I shall discuss the possible transfer to her, and from there ensure a safe passage of the demon." Byakko's eyes returned to Kenshin as he mentioned his name, but his focus was still on Kameyo. Truth be told, he knew that he was not in a negotiating position with Kenshin. With the legacy of the zealot well known to him he knew that, if this became an exchange of blows, then Kenshin would ultimately win. Furthermore, he had no reason to hold onto this demon, as his original reason for doing so was fulfilled when he had a chance to fight the goddess and force her to stop trying to sink herself into his life. In his heart he knew that Kenshin carried the fury of Evergreen, which was why he was dependent on Kameyo to keep this from going to blows.
▱▰▱Kameyo requested that Byakko turn over the demon peacefully which was also Kenshin's preference although Byakko was already trying his patience. He found the pungent smell of whiskey almost nauseating as it assaulted his senses. "You stole the hachibi from Konoha who stole it from Arashi. It belonged to the Arashikage first and Kumo before that." Kenshin responded firmly and did not want the record regarding the demon's theft to be lost in Byakko's framing of the matter at hand. He was also careful not to refer to the demon by name and rather as an object that was stolen from his nation. Above all, it was a dangerous creature that needed to be secured. "My name is Kenshin Hyuga." He interjected to correct Byakko again on a separate matter. He was legitimized by his grandfather some time ago which gave him the authority to succeed him as the patriarch of the clan after the elder Hyuga's death. Kenshin did not waver from his position even for a moment. He was trained intensely for years that a common tactic among criminals and rogues was to cast doubt by presenting a seemingly legitimate alternative point of view. This was especially true of Kogarashi members from his experience. "Your premise for this decision is based on a conspiracy. What's going to happen is that Kameyo will use her sealing prowess to extract the demon and seal it into me. Then I'll use my human sage powers and connection to Evergreen to purify the bijuu's chakra. I've also been tasked with using the bijuu's power to do the same with the other eight. When all nine of the demons are sanctified Jashin won't be able to enter our realm and I'll be able to find a new host for the hachibi. I'm a follower of ninshu and I realize that no one man should horde that much chakra forever. I'm doing my duty, nothing more." Kenshin, the man of ultimate conviction, responded fully and without hesitation. He paused only momentarily before continuing. "Your lack of cooperation threatens the existence of our world. If you have even a modicum of the connection to the divine that you claim you do then you know what's coming. Kameyo is the sealer and does not have the requisite connection to Evergreen to perform the ritual. Evergreen will not kill the hachibi because he's necessary to purifying the other demons. My faith and philosophy bind me to peace but I'll not stay my hand if you force me." Kenshin's tenseigan and spirit sword flashed briefly after he finished his statement and made his threat. He knew that he was a philosophical lord who walked the righteous path now and not the overzealous law enforcer that he once was but there were times when such righteousness was necessary. For what was one dead rogue compared to the millions upon millions of creatures who would be annihilated by Jashin later?

Kenshin was a soldier for Evergreen, and since he showed no interest in questioning his faith when hearing the horrors Evergreen performed for the sake of murdering Gyuki the first time around, Kenshin instead chose to keep the focus on the framing of the alleged history of the demon's origin. Byakko could not trust Kenshin, and thus ushered a single word in defiance. "No." Byakko, along with his lion, disappeared into a body flicker. He knew Kenshin would follow, which meant he had to go to the one place an Arashi ninja could not follow.

So the rumors were true. Kogarashi was driven out of the land of giman. It certainly made the location a lot quieter, which allowed Byakko to better enjoy his cigarette. The tiger broke through the double doors of the church before the man sauntered in. It was strange to think that he once had to serve Evergreen in this domain. Now that he was his own man, he had new plans for this place. "It's time to make this a base of operation. We have a lot to prepare for, so let's get moving." The man said as the tiger roared in compliance. Now that they were both on the war path, their synergy was unmatched.
