xxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx EARLY CHILDHOOD [August 19, 2035: Born] When Kerr and Hannah Knolle were married, Kerr didn’t know what life he was going to be thrown into. Maybe Hannah should have told him she was a witch before they were married, but it was a minor detail. In the long run, Hannah was able to help her husband maintain his farm, giving the crops the ideal weather conditions. They did have many discussions about wizardry, before deciding to have children. When Hannah had Yukon, she was told they wouldn’t have any more children, and that was that. They accepted it, and would only have Yukon.
[date: A Brother] When Yukon was 3, an unexpected thing happened to the Knolle Clan, they had Kennebec. Kennebec was born premature and mostly blind, and that was a difficult trial for the family to get through, but they worked it out. Kennebec was independent, and could tell the different kinds of potatoes, it was rather amazing considering his blindness. Yukon was inspired by his sibling, to be the best he could, even if something hindered him.
[date: A sister] Yukon thought he wouldn’t have to deal with another sibling, but when he was 9 his parents adopted Weslyn. Why did it have to be a girl? Yukon resented his sister for a while, but then found it was nice to have someone else to play with. He accepted his new little sister, and that was that, no other changes would occur to his family. It would be the three of them, every time could be broken, and boys still outnumbered the girls, all was well.
[2046: You’re going to Hogwarts] Finally, the day came when Yukon received his Hogwarts letter, just in time to get school supplies. Yukon was going to buy a wand but his mom stopped him, handing him a wand she had made for him, out of a potato tree. It was special to them, it may not be the best wand, because they didn’t pick each other, but over time, they would learn to be friends, Yukon and the Wand, until then, the wand was as useless as a french fry.
SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR ~ 2046 - 2047
[Overview] Great things happened when going to Hogwarts, first off he met some great friends, including a boy who had some sight problems, but was really cool. He joined the Daily Dragon with Eion, and together they were something. He also realized, maybe flying isn't too bad, maybe next year he would try to go play quidditch for his house team? He would have to take some more flying classes to catch up to the others though. Overall, it was a great year.
SECOND YEAR ~ 2047 - 2048
[Overview] Nothing exciting happened, just another year away from his family and potatoes. He tried to befriend some people, but with no avail. He did work on some more articles with Eion, under the guidance of August. Maybe the Daily Dragon was something he could always do.
THIRD YEAR ~ 2048 - 2049
[Summer 2048] Yukon had met Wren, Nim, and their younger siblings for an ice cream snack and had met Aria - Wren’s betrothed. They had a great time during that trip, but it too quickly came to a close.
[Overview] Yukon was super excited to have both of his siblings come to Hogwarts this year, and Wren’s betrothed, and Wren’s sister (was she betrothed to a Knapp or something? It was all very chaotic). Even better, Weslyn was sorted into Hufflepuff! He was so excited to be able to see his family again every day, and to be able to watch his siblings. He helped guide Weslyn into clubs that didn't involve him, she needed some of her own friends, and he would help any way he could to get her there.
[March 2049: falling in love] This was potentially worse than bad. The worst of all things. He had fallen madly in love with his first crush that wasn’t a potato - Aria Siddall. They had gone outside to eat ice cream, and she had gotten it all over her nose, and when Sparrow told her - Aria giggled. It was the sweetest sound Yukon had heard. She cleaned her nose off and waved Yukon over, her brown eyes shimmering with a golden look as the sun hit them just right. Yukon smiled, and passed Aria another napkin, no he would just be her best friend - he would never hurt Wren’s betrothal. As long as they were happy - Yukon would be happy too.
FOURTH YEAR~ 2049 - 2050
[Overview] School wise? Nothing happened. Yukon did start playing Chaser instead of trying for keeper in quidditch, so that was something, a little bit more work, but still fun to be on the broom. He was studying semi-well in classes (when he felt like it. Sometimes he just felt like a nap). He hung out with his friends, laughing and goofing off. He even made some wood carvings instead of potato carvings, they did last a little bit longer.
FIFTH YEAR ~ 2050 - 2051
[Overview] Quidditch Vice Captain? Check. Prefect? Check. Of course, he had OWLs and he didn't do terrible, but some classes were just so much effort, and why bother. He did meh.
[Autumn 2050 - No more Betrothal?] He hadn’t seen Aria so happy, a visible weight had been lifted from her. Her betrothal was off. She was free.
[December 2050 - Hogsmeade. With Me?] Yukon knew it would be okay. He asked Aria to go to Hogsmeade with him, and she agreed without hesitation. It was a perfect night.
[January 2051 - So it begins] And yet, neither of those was the highlight of his fifth year. Yukon realized, he knew what love was. And that was his relationship with Aria Siddal. The beautiful black haired, brown eyed girl. Her eyes shimmered, she loved spicy food, and was intelligent. She was precious and perfect in every way, and she had been engaged to Wren. Thankfully, that ended, and Yukon was able to date the adorable angel of Aria, and he had no plans of letting her go... unless she wanted to.... or started hating potatoes.
SIXTH YEAR ~ 2051 - 2052
[Summer 2051 - Meeting the Knolles] Yukon brought Aria to meet his family, his brother and his sister she knew already because of Hogwarts, but his parents had to meet her. They fell in love with her, she was an angel - of course they loved her. The meeting went well and Aria was sent home with a sack of potatoes, Yukon whispered apologies to her.
[Overview] Life was wonderful, what was there to not be joyful about? He had Aria, he had his siblings, he had the paper, he had quidditch, and most of all, he had his potatoes. He just studied more and more for his NEWTs, hoping to be able to pass them the next year.
SEVENTH YEAR~ 2052 - 2053
[June 2052 - Can I marry her?] Yukon knew what he wanted to do. Aria had been betrothed when she was like 10 - now that she was older, surely being engaged wouldn’t be bad. They didn’t have to get married for several more years, not until she was done with Hogwarts, but he knew it was right - to be with Aria. There was one issue - Everett Siddal was terrifying. Instead, Yukon would ask his friend, Nim - Aria’s older brother. After a very awkward conversation, Nim said it was fine - and assured Yukon that Everett was not scary, but the crazy lady with white hair was. And that Yukon should have good grades. Yukon... decided not to ask Everett and just accepted Nim’s small blessing.
[July 27, 2052 - Will you Marry me?] Yukon had the ring, he had the permission, now he just had to ask her. How did you ask your true love to marry you? He sent her on a scavenger hunt. He sent her an owl that morning, to the place they first met, and after several stops (that took entirely too long??) Aria met him under a tree at the park where Yukon then proposed to her.
[August 3, 2052 - Til Death Do Us Part] Yukon had been summoned by Aria. She had sent him an owl to come visit her, and Yukon gladly did. He was near the estate when he heard an explosion coming from the area. He ran. Why did he run when he was a *Wizard*, surely hearing an explosion would be a good reason to break the law that said he was underage for another month. The explosion came from the estate. When he arrived, Aria was begging Wren to save Nim, but Yukon was just concerned over Aria...who was beyond severely injured. As Wren took over Nim, Yukon went to Aria and just, held her. He could hear her breaths, shallow. He couldn’t aparate her, without risking splicing her (not that he had a license to aparate anyways). He began sobbing as Aria took her final breaths, the both of them having whispered goodbyes. As she took her last breath Yukon saw her answer to his proposal - she was wearing the ring.
She had wanted to be with him too.
[September 1, 2052 - Why am I still here?] Yukon had brought some Knolle Vodka with him to Hogwarts, and lived his first few weeks plastered. If his mind was a wishy washy blur for the alcohol, then at least he wasn’t sobbing over the loss of his fiance. Sparrow was also drunk. And another Gryffindor Prefect. Wow, they really did have a great crowd selected to be leaders this year.
[November 2052 - Shape up Man] Wren was looking out for everyone, he really was a great friend. He balanced his boyfriend, his sister, and Yukon all while dealing with his own life. That was probably why Wren had a talk to Yukon about how he needed to shape up, and at least not show up drunk to prefect patrols or classes. Yukon was not convinced that Nim wasn’t behind the scenes, digging up the hidden stash of Knolle Vodka that Yukon had brought with him. But Wren was right - Yukon needed to shape up, and shape up he did. He began studying again, not drinking as much, laughing with his friends. Except, sometimes he couldn’t. The holidays, Aria’s birthday, it was a hard time to think about. He barely stayed a float, but he managed.
[April 2053 - Jumping is not an option] The school year was ending, and it was hard to stay above water, where one could easily pretend to be happy. At the astronomy tower one night, Yukon and Sparrow had a talk, about how cold the ground was, and how unhappy the humans would be there, if only they could be potatoes that were happy there, but instead they were humans who ruined everything. Acting had yet to become the real thing, they had yet to become the happy Du, him and Sparrow. They sat up in the brisk April breeze, not getting anywhere except further down the bottle of Knolle Vodka Yukon had brought. Eion and Wren found them - taking the drunken pair back to their dorms - and no one spoke of that night again.
[NEWTS Happened] Yukon had shaped up enough to get studying in, but he still failed art. Such was life. He had enough NEWTs to go into the Department of Mysteries - into the love chamber, where he would find the secret to love and happiness, and bring that to himself again.
POST-GRADUATION [Summer 2053 - Work is work] Yukon dedicated himself to his work in the Love Chamber - he started out doing purely book research, they weren’t going to let some kid test potions! He poured his soul into this work, he had to find that feeling of happiness and love again. If anything though, he could smell the lingering scent of white musk, sandalwood, vanilla, and white peony, smells that reminded him of Aria.
[Winter 2054 - Time Passes] Yukon was able to start testing the various potions in the love chamber. He was under strict supervision for now, but that was life. He began with watching his collaborating partner take the potion, and would record everything and anything he said. It was quite a boring time really - especially as the effects wore off and Yukon had nothing to do but think on...well everything.
[February 4, 2056 - I can’t anymore] {Courtesy of Adda} Yukon was on his own for a while. His partner had gotten called away to give some sort of official report or whatever, but it didn’t matter - Yukon was alone and He shouldn’t have been, not on Aria’s birthday. While working with potions that deal with memories and dreams and strong feelings, Yukon couldn’t anymore, he needed to know - what were the deepest memories and dreams. Was there something there related to the Amortentia fountain that would bring him happiness? He looked at the vials around him, picked one, and filled it full (at least 4 times the recommended dose). He then took a second one, and nodded, 8 doses was more than what he had done before, what any of them had done before. If a half dose could bring back his strong feelings of Aria, how much would 8 full doses?
He wrote down his dosage amount and the current time, then chugged them down, something that tasted similar to the taste of mashed potato. Yukon could feel himself wavering in and out of being coherent, a crash of the potion bottles he had been holding, hadn’t he sat those down? He felt himself falling, someone yelling.
But then, he was proposing to Aria, they had their engagement, Aria graduated Hogwarts, they planned their wedding with a woman wearing a “VERA” name tag, he could feel the months passing, even though he knew somewhere that deep down it couldn’t be passing.
As he walked down the aisle, he saw Weslyn and Skip together, Wren and Nim had a little girl with with them who shared the infamous golden eyes, Yukon’s parents were smiling at him as he got to the front, the guy who would wed them, waiting for everyone to join him upfront. As he stood Yukon watched as Eion and Sparrow walked down the Aisle, his best man and Aria’s maid of honor. Then, a captivating, nymphic song played, as Aria walked down the aisle, escorted by Everett, who was alive and happy. As Yukon said his vows, he could feel the tears rolling down his face, and as Aria said her vows he knew he couldn’t be happier as she said “I will love you forever, Yukon.”
“Then I declare you man and wife. For all of eternity.” The two of them closed their eyes and kissed. For a brief moment - Yukon could feel Aria's presence, a little kiss. The cheers of their friends faded from his attention as he opened his eyes again, he saw a pair of golden eyes looking back at him, but they didn’t belong to his Siddall - no they were the eyes of Nim. Yukon recognized the decor of St. Mungo’s, and saw all the monitors and healing things - and his friends there watching anxiously over him. It had been Nim wiping away Yukon’s tears, Aspen singing her nymph songs, and then - the boy who officiated the wedding, was giving something to the healer (Yang). Yukon whispered, “I know you. Kam Hepburn. You officiated the wedding.”
“What Wedding?”
[February 10, 2056 - Here we are] Yukon was strongly encouraged to take a break from work and seek out therapy. Should he want to come back, there would be a spot for him doing research not near the potions. Yukon didn’t understand - he hadn’t been trying anything he just had to know. He took the recommended leave time, he had some tasks at the farm to take care of anyways.
Except - he realized after talking with Niall, that maybe he was still hurting over Aria and that was okay.
[July 2056 - the future] Yukon was officially unemployed. Well. He was employed by his family, but he had given his notice to the Department of Mysteries. He realized it wasn’t healthy for him to work there, and well, he had always been happiest with his potatoes.
He looked out over the fields of taters, the sunset was pretty but he could finally look into the golden rays again and not yearn so deeply for his first true love - Aria Siddall.

xxx✿PERSONALITY❀xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx SHYWeslyn learned young that the safest way to exist was to stay out of sight, stay quiet, and if told to do anything, do it quickly and without question. The Knolles did done wonders for her nervousness, and her years at Hogwarts pushed her boundaries, but she's still most comfortable with her family, close friends, and hates to step on anyone's toes. Weslyn considers herself "fine” most of the time-- she’s only seen anger expressed through violence, so she tries very hard to never feel anything like that.
HARDWORKING Whether that means diligently doing what she’s been told to or just taking care of herself and her plants, Weslyn will find a way to stay busy and out of the way. She keeps busy at sea or on shore, but is always happy to just rest and knit.
HELPFUL Weslyn’s favorite way of staying busy is being useful, and she always wants to be helpful: she would never complain of being hungry while her birthparents were away, she lied to get them out of paying more for psychologist appointments, she tried to be useful around the farm, and has tried to fill in for any role needed as a crew member of the Solus. While she doesn’t like the spotlight, Wes considers success being able to help others and be there when needed.
DEFERENT Weslyn knows she can speak up for herself, but it's usually only after a long time of thinking things though over and over and knowing she won't be getting in people's way that she does so. She tends to take criticism to heart, regardless of if these things are true or said in jest. When she does get praise or positive feedback, she usually assumes it's mostly to be polite and works hard to be able to do more.
SENTIMENTAL Weslyn still has her baby blanket with her, and often turns to it for comfort at night. She clings to the objects, people and knowledge she does have, and hates losing things.

xxx✿BACKSTORY❀xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx ✿❀EARLY CHILDHOOD Weslyn used to be Alice Zheng. Alice lived in Dublin, Ireland, where her father, Iain, was busy getting his degree, and her mother, Faye, worked at a pub to make ends meet. Alice’s parents argued a lot: about finances, housing, the future, the fact that they never had a proper wedding ceremony or ring, work, Alice herself. Sometimes these would get violent, and Alice quickly learned that intervening only made things worse and resulted in her getting yelled at or hit. But inevitably, her parents would always get back together.
School was never easy, and nothing Alice ever did seemed to be good enough. Then in second grade, she threw a crayon in anger at someone, missed, and instead managed to explode the crayon over the wall. The school insisted on a psychologist for anger issues. Back home, the financial problems got worse. In an effort to avoid the sessions, Alice portrayed herself as an alternate person with a different family life, basing her story off her favorite characters from cartoons.
Faye had been a witch at Long Jiang School of Magic, but dropped out when she got pregnant to pursue her relationship across the sea. She had planned on leaving magic and that world behind, but as the stress got to her, Faye started using magic to take care of the home. Alice’s magic manifested initially as small things: her baby blanket alone would be able to keep her warm on cold nights, spills on her clothes would vanish when no one was looking. Before Faye properly realized, Iain caught on: He saw Alice as a fascination, to be studied and investigated. Working from home, he would tell her to do things repeatedly and either praise or yell at her. Alice was terrified--she didn't know how to control her magic and mostly she just destroyed things or nothing happened. Faye managed to convince him to keep this "discovery" secret and denied any knowledge of magic, caught between horror at her husband's clinical interest, and her desperation to preserve magical secrecy. She did though, notice his ire was usually turned away from her, and they argued much less.
Finally, Faye’s grandfather, posing as a licensed counselor, offered to raise the child while Iain finished his dissertation and Faye figured out finances. Happy to have his magic passed off as “sleights of hand" and cheerful "entertainment", the old wizard raised Alice in Belfast for three months, taking her to aquariums, telling her stories of Long Jiang, and teaching her to control her magic. As his health started failing, he got her to open up. He convinced Alice there was more to life than surviving the next argument and offered her a restart. Then, armed with false papers in case anyone came searching, he took her to his old friends, the Knolles.
✿❀ADOPTION On Christmas 2044, Alice, now Weslyn, began a nervously happy life with her new family. There were a lot of potatoes involved, but she had siblings to play with now: Yukon always made working in the field fun, she liked reading with Kennebec, and Hannah made her potato pancakes every morning. Trusting that her identity was safely hidden, Weslyn slowly started to bury her past and embrace life on the farm. The next three years were a quiet and happy life. She got closer to her brothers, particularly Kenny, but never quite opened up about what her life was like before. She missed Yukon terribly when he was at Hogwarts, but when her own Hogwarts letter arrived, she was still nervous.
✿❀SCHOOL YEARS ■✿FIRST YEAR Weslyn was relieved to be sorted into Yukon's Hufflepuff house and spent most of her time following her brothers everywhere. She stuck close to Kenny in class, where she found most of her courses both extraordinarily interesting and difficult. Yukon caught on to her following behavior in the first week though, and pushed her boundaries by dropping her off alone at Cooking club. It turned out to be a very good experience, and as the year went on, Weslyn slowly got more comfortable hanging out with her class or clubmates. She attended the Valentine's dance with Yukon and Kenny, but talked to other people there. She even befriended a merman in the lake!
❀SECOND YEAR started with Yukon persuading her to join the Quidditch team. Weslyn didn't really want to play, but she did want to support her house where she could. Otherwise, she kept plenty busy with clubs, and got more comfortable with her drawing and cooking. If she wasn't in clubs or studying with her brothers, she hung out by the Lake with fellow hydrophile Skipper and their merman friend, Asra; if it was too cold to swim, she'd still hang out and knit or draw. She enjoyed the company of Yukon's friends in clubs, her roommate Willow back at the dorm, and was slowly starting to feel more at ease in her own skin.
That summer, while discussing electives and shopping for books, Weslyn came face to face with Faye and a young boy. Thankfully, even though Wes panicked, the incident was waved aside and Faye left. Back at home, Wes finally told her brothers everything about her life before coming to the Knolles.
✿THIRD YEAR Weslyn spent a good part of her year getting as much of Annie Sheehan, her artist mentor and friend, before Annie graduated. Thus, in addition to a bunch of knitting projects, Wes also added a lot more drawings projects to her portfolio. Her electives were equally hard as interesting, and between studying, clubs and swimming, Wes was very busy the rest of the hours. Thus, Weslyn was surprised when her friend Eden asked her out. She agreed, mostly since it seemed to make him really happy. It was mostly studying together, and talking about themselves, and while she was worried he spent too much money on her, she grew to really enjoy listening to his stories and found herself sharing things she usually only told her brothers.
❀FOURTH YEAR Fourth year amped up the pressure in classes. Between four clubs, Quidditch, and classes, Weslyn was constantly studying often under Eden's diligent tutelage. On the other hand, Eden was constantly frustrated with being anything less than the top of the class and constantly vented to her, which was quite stressful. He also had a tendency to stick with her all the time, barely giving her any time with other friends and family. By the end of the school year, Wes started looking for a way to break up without sacrificing their friendship. The whole situation stressed her out greatly, which caused her plants to suffer, and struggling in Herbology stressed her out even more.
At the beginning of the summer, Eden had splurged to take her to the Aquarium in Belfast--the first aquarium she'd ever been to with her great-grandfather. At the end, he gave her the contact information to Alice's old family, including the name of her little brother. With her brothers' support, Skips' encouragement, and her own fear driving her, she finally broke up with Eden, even if it didn't go as expected.
✿FIFTH YEAR Even with the added pressure of OWLs coming up, Weslyn had much more free time and was happy to spend time with her brothers again--especially Yukon, who had suffered the loss of his fiancee towards the end of summer. She worried incessantly about his alcoholic tendencies, and did her best to encourage him to better habits and make him more comfortable, even if she wasn't sure how effective she was. Wes also worked up the courage to leave the Daily Dragon and focus on her own hobbies and interests, one of them learning mermish so she could better communicate with her and Skipper's merman friend. She studied hard for OWLs, but test nerves still got to her.
❀SIXTH YEAR continued Weslyn's trend towards more confidence as she was suddenly thrust into leadership positions as captain of the Culinary Club and co-captain of Herbology Club after the intended captains turned them down. While always uncertain of herself and ability, she gained at least a little confidence and was able to relax and acknowledge her growth and satisfaction at the end of the year. She otherwise spent a quiet year, learning about the animagus transformation (although she wasn't quite ready to try it), learning mermish, studying for NEWT level classes, and of course continuing to hang out with her brother and friends.
✿SEVENTH YEAR Weslyn was startled to be appointed Head Girl in her final year and although nervous to lead--especially since she hadn't been a prefect-- but she did her best to come up with ideas. She worked well with Cenek Knapp, and put on a successful Deep Sea Horrors Masquerade--along with donations to environmental conservation efforts. In the beginning of the new year, Wes finally completed her animagus transformation, and with Kenny and Skip watching over her, turned into a common octopus. She and Skip started dating soon after.
Finally, Weslyn met with and befriended Angier Zheng, her biological younger brother. At the end of the year, Wes worked up the courage to reveal her former identity as Alice, and finally got closure on that part of her life.
✿❀POST-GRADUATION After graduation, Wes spent a quiet summer at home getting ready. She interned for a year for Jonah Lane as he was starting his magical creature care clinic. In 2056, she and Skip started as magizoologists aboard the Solus, a research vessel. Although they were apprenticed to rival magizoologists, it only helped their bond grow. They were married aboard in 2059, the same year her former housemate Jade Morris joined them aboard. Unfortunately, Angier's own animagus transformation had not gone as well as her own and he was killed in the process a few months earlier.
Weslyn adjusted to life at sea remarkably well and was happy to find that her abilities with cooking and healing were well-appreciated as the cook and healer on board were looking towards retirement. She was even considered briefly as first mate for when Harmony Aindrias took over the ship. On Harmony's 21st birthday, she and Wes took the ship out after repairs for a quick run only for it to lead to the death of a man. #####

PERCEPTIVE Kennebec while being mostly blind tends to know his surroundings well. He can tell differences most miss or can't sense themselves. CREATIVE Kennebec likes creating things. His main pastime is creating art and is the happiest doing so. he more than happy to try any kind of IMAGINATIVE Kennebec art while abstract has a complex story he created in his own mind. EARLY CHILDHOOD Kennebec is the youngest surprise child of Kerr and Hannah Knolle. While unplanned he was loved from the start. He had a rough beginning he was born much too early and effectively blind. After spending time in the hospital he eventually got to meet his older sibling Yukon. He turned out to be a creative and perceptive boy. Growing up around potatoes on a potato farm he taught himself how to tell them all apart mostly by their smell and what he could make out of it. With his dismal eyesight that let him see color and not much else, he developed a liking for art. He loved painting as it something he could do with no assistance. Sure he was an abstract artist but while his family was covered in dirt from the potato farm he was covered in paint from his art. One Christmas they got a great gift of a sister! He liked having another sibling! He was excited for Yukon when got his Hogwarts letter. Maybe he would be magic too and get to go too surely his eyesight wouldn't be a problem? It didn't seem so as he got a Hogwarts letter along with Wes! now he didn't need to sneak on the train!
