Chromatic Weyr Assignments
So! You've made it through your Junior Weyrling days, and now you're all grown up and ready to fly the nest! Or at least, as long as you have kept out of trouble and mastered all your lessons so far, at least enough that the Weyrlingmaster and Crew aren't afraid to let you out of their sight, that is.
As of June 1st the Magic Clutches will be big enough to move out of the Weyrling Barracks and into their own weyrs! Hooray! Of course, this is a privilege, not a right at this age, so Sr. Weyrlings are still expected to mind the Weyrlingmaster and Crew, as they CAN be brought back to the barracks if they misbehave or make too much trouble or fall behind developmentally. In addition, as they are all the lowest on the rider totem pole, they do not get much (read: any) say on where they get housed... or with whom.
This thread was created to facilitate WEYR SHARING for those who are eligible and interested. Please note that you DO NOT HAVE to participate—you can just be one of the 'lucky ones' who managed to get their own weyr, either for size reasons (tiny weyr too small to fit more than one) or behavior reasons (you were super exemplary perhaps) or no real reasons at all (luck of the headwoman's draw).
---RULES---
1. You do not have to participate!
If you don't want to bother, or want to 'luck out' into a solo weyr, that's a-okay!
2. This is not permanent.
Once more weyrs open up (aka more riders/dragons die) weyrlings can request a transfer. Note however that there are also full-riders sharing right now, as HR is VERY FULL, so they might not get to move out right away if ranking folks request it as well.
3. There are no gender restrictions.
HR would like to think that you're all grown-ups by now and can control yourselves. Remember that being a dragonrider is like being in Pern's military, so your weyrling should at least have some basic discipline and not turn into a giggly 8-turn-old at the sight of another/the same gender.
4. Play nice with your roommate.
OOCly, that is. ICly your riders can both be furious that they have to share, or have totally clashing styles of living—but keep that drama IC, and remember that we're all just having fun here. No one was paired with you expressly to try your OOC patience, it's all random and meant to be fun.
5. Those with full-rider lovers/friends/family can move in with them instead.
If your weyrling has a lover or family member already in a weyr, they are welcome to move in with them instead of being assigned. However, note that if things go badly and the weyrling wants to move out, they will need to talk to the Headwoman, and she might either force you to share with another rider, or not be able to accommodate the move at all, depending on crowding at the time.
6. Metallics cannot apply—sorry kids!
Metallic riders, even metallic weyrlings, have all the luck at HR. They will still be randomly assigned weyrs, but they will be lower to the bowl, larger, have more amenities, and most importantly, are private. Unless they are part of a romance, they will be living alone, even if that means the weyr has to force every green, blue, withe or brown to double up.
7. There may be a small wait.
I plan to try to randomize in batches of at least ten, so there are ample options. There is no hard close date on this, since people come and go from the site at will, but if you've posted for a match and it's been a while without hearing, feel free to ping me about it. If I have to match smaller batches I will.
8. You will not get a self-pair.
'Cause that's boring and lame. And it's fun to get to play with others!
