Creak, creak, creeaaaaaaKKKKK... POP! Thanks to your pulling the pony pops free of the trees and stumbles fully into you, knocking the both of you over. They laugh and dust you off, moving to help you to your feet again. "Well that worked perfectly! You're really good at this!" Gently they ruffle all their freathers up and check at their back legs absently before turning their attention back to you. "Would you be able to help me find some of my friends? We got separated and this heat is making it hard to focus on anything." They look at least worn out enough that it would be best to drag them to the healers.

Much more at ease instantly, the pony relaxes onto your back, patting Nox's fur gently and nestling down to be taken back to the healers. Halfway back they've fallen asleep, so when you deposit them with the healers they need laid down gently. The healers assure you that they'll be fine and send you back on your way into the forest again.

Making certain to stand very still for you, the pony grins at the lotion and keeps sniffing themselves. "A star following stars." They giggle loudly and make to follow after you, pointing out each of the stars brightly on the way back like it's the most amusing and fun game they've ever played. Even the healers can tell this poor pony is delerious when they take over the reins to help you, but they remind you that it'll be okay and there are still more to find.

This time the area you enter through a wider path, the limbs of the trees interlocked above, almost as if by magic. But that can't possibly be true, right? The leaves dance like living fire but whatever the breeze is doing it doesn't seem to be making it any cooler at all. Frustrating but it gets you looking around at the little rustling leaves and you notice a small opening in the trees that leads into darkness.
Roll 1d4.
1-2. Curiosity gets the better of you and you can't help but follow the dark path. It's as black as midnight thanks to the density, you can barely see your hoof in front of your face!
3-4. That little opening seems far too dangerous and just a little too much like the old mares tales about the forest. No, you stick to the wide path and follow it deeper and deeper.

"Oh good! I'm glad you aren't lost too, it's not fun at all. Not at all." The pony says wearily and moves to follow you to the healers. "I'm so glad you found some of my friends, they get lost easily." Almost as if they hadn't been lost just moments before, or maybe they were trying to downplay it out of embarrassment? Either way they follow you all the way back and end up lounging under the umbrella at the healer's set-up.

tab A glimmer of colour like petals hidden amongst the grass caught Sanka's attention. He moved towards it only to stop when the colours moved. He squinted, sure it was just the heat playing tricks on him. There! Again, the colours moved and when he came closer, he saw why. Another strange pony, covered in sweat and delirious, had been... running from something in the middle of the meadow?
tab He hadn't the time to ponder over their odd words before they collapsed. Quickly, he snatched his bag from his side and rummaged through it. He first placed a bottle of water, then a towel on the ground beside the pony. He worked quickly, dampening the towel with the water before he draped it over them and hoisted them up.
tab "Don't worry, bub. I gotcha," he assured them softly. Making sure he had a good grip on the other pony, he turned and began to make his way back to the beach. This pony needed the healers badly.

Babbling almost incoherently about the things that were chasing them, the pony takes your hoof and clambers back to their own feet nervously, eyes glancing all around. "Thank you, thank you!" Their shaking subsides a little bit but they don't relax as they follow you out of the forest and to the healers. At least not until they see the bright sun above them and their friends recovering on the beach before them. The healers quickly scoop them up and take them to lay beneath an umbrella as they send you back out.
Not many left but they're still lost!

"Oh there are healers around?" The pony perks up just a bit at this and wanders after you down the winding paths towards the beach. Their exclamation of excitement is loud and bright when they see the great group of their friends on the beach before them! Though they're definitely not completely okay, this pony at least seems to be one of the least in trouble from heat exhaustion or pain as they rush over to help their friends.

Rainbow eyes peer up into yours with absoute trust as you work to help them. While there's a slight panic it certainly seems to have eased up just a tad. "Th... thank..." The pony doesn't seem entirely to be present in the moment but they certainly are oozing gratitude as you help them back to the beach.

Well the healers were certainly full up, but that doesn't mean that you can't still help by searching. Though it can be spooky in the forest, you set back out again with a new resolve and scramble to quickly catch up to a group of three ahead of you!

There are four of you that head back to the forest together this time, so many of these mysterious ponies have been found that you find yourself wondering how many could possibly be left, if they're in the forest or in another area. You'll never know until you begin looking anew and the four of you head into the forest through a little alcove, an area much different than before. It opens up into a wide area within after a minute or two of walking. Not quite a meadow but certainly no dark paths this time!
Roll 1d4.
1-2. All along the trees are heavily covered areas that resemble bushes but seem to be giant ferns. With how cool it is at the base of the trees and these shaded little spots, there could surely be a pony around there hiding from the heat!
3-4. Though most of the trees are along the edges, there are some that have sprouted up in the center of the clearing, long vines hanging down from them in areas. It's worth checking out to see if anyone has found their way up a tree!

Just a bit nervous themselves, the pony rubbed at the back of their head in turn and glanced down the path that you've been marking, blinking a little more than necessary as they tried to comprehend. They really are worn out! "Oh lost... yeah I'm definitely lost." they add with a shy laugh and nod their head at the stars. "Makes sense you'd leave a star trail!" Slowly they make their way, limping slightly with each step, towards the healers in the hopes of finding some water and ice.
But that leaves you all alone on the path again, this odd little path that as you start to follow it again seems to cramp... inward? Is it getting narrower and tighter down here!? You follow it along for quite a while longer, twisting and turning, leaving the occasional marking lest you lose yourself entirely, until you see a bright light opening up ahead. Already nervous from this very area you rush forward to it only to break into a wide clearing full of bright sun at last. Trees crop up all around you and.. are those voices?
Roll 1d4.
1-2. Though you're a little nervous(Okay a lot after everything you've seen today) you follow the sound of the voices on the other side of the clearing and bump into a group of ponies searching through the fern-y bushes at the bases of the trees. Seems like a good idea if you've ever seen one and you're grateful for the company!
3-4. No way! This forest is playing tricks on you once again. First that trippy path, now this? You carve a star on the entrance to the path and head the long way around, looking to and fro at all the trees that seem to be swaying in the hot summer breeze.

What on earth is this cave-like area that you've found yourself wandering down. You didn't go into any caves in the mountains! You're in a forest! But sure enough it's black as midnight while you wander through the darkest parts of this forest, well off the traveled path. What might have made this little path even?
Just then one of your tails catches the scent of something, but just faintly, enough that you wander for a second before your hoof knocks into it.
Well that's certainly odd.... Someone's got to be out here! With the aid of all those tails you have, you manage to find your way, stumbling through the dark, towards the edge of the darkness. Finally your eyes pick up some light and you just manage to wiggle out of the blackness and onto a curving little path that has stars cut through it.
Roll 1d4.
1-2. To the left you see the stars continue on, heading somewhere, maybe it was the pony that dropped this bottle of soda? You follow the stars, curious about who or what you'll find at the end of the trail.
3-4. While stars stretch out down the other direction, this way only has one, starting at the mouth of a dark path. You head out to the right and peer into the path for a moment, wondering which direction the pony came or went by before heading down it yourself. What's more darkness?

 ㅤㅤㅤBack into the forest he marched, tailed by three others this time. Marmalade hoped that maybe together they could find whatever other ponies might still be lost there. The more the merrier, they say. Or would it be more appropriate to say four heads are better than one, given the situation..?
ㅤㅤㅤNo, enough of that. There was no time to dilly-dally here. As they continued into the forest, the lot of them came across a wide area encased by ferns. Marmalade halted. Holding a hoof over his head to shield his eyes, he regarded his surroundings. The ferns gave off a shade that a pony could be hiding in, but there was also some trees set in the middle of the whole place. Could a pony perhaps have gotten up there?
ㅤㅤㅤThinking back on the other pony he helped, Marmalade figured he'd better check anyway. Maybe these ponies climbed up the trees while confused? Who knew. No matter, Marmalade turned to face the group.
ㅤㅤㅤ"I'm going to go check up in the trees. I found another pony up in one earlier, and I think there's a chance another could've done the same." He stated, nodding at the others as a 'good luck' of sorts, before turning tail and flying up towards the trees in the center. |
