A collection of thick forests that span in every direction. The path that had once lead safely through brush seems to have been overtaken by numerous unnamed foliage which has travel difficult for those not prepared to get their hands muddy. Every now and then a deep guttural howl may be hear that signals that watchful eyes beasts nearby, though the heavy treeline prevents one from getting a far enough look in either direction.

Kikan landed on a thick branch of one of the many trees of the Underbrush. Kneeling down, he began to survey their surroundings. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary as of yet, but Kikan didn't like to be reckless or let his guard down. As he waited for his two students to arrive behind him, Kikan stood up and turned to where they would land. He needed to brief them fully on their mission before they ventured any further, lest the reports ring too true and they are exposed to a larger threat.
Jyn followed close behind Kikan, worry evident on their expression. When they appeared to be coming to a stop, Jyn was quick to ask their burning questions. "Please, what is the nature of this threat? Are we dealing with enemy shinobi? Like... Kogarashi?" The last word was hushed, as if saying it would summon them again and destroy the village. Jyn was visibly shaken up in the face of ignorance - they worried for their family that lived in the outskirts and outside of the village altogether.

__ Derane followed his teammates like a mindless zombie while he waited for something interesting to happen. The trees, foliage, even his Jyn’s worries washed in one ear and out the other. Being in this state of mind would likely kill him day. Ninja weren’t supposed to be on guard at all times after all, but even that was something Derane had come to welcome in his short life. The bad thing about wanting to experience it all was the hell are you supposed to do after you finish? He was only alive when his life was on the line. Something better happen soon damn it.

As the two young shinobi landed before him, Kikan held his hand aloft to signal them to stop. Jyn looked scared enough for all of them, and Derane seemed to be bored, or at least uninterested thus far. A light breeze wafted through the leaves, then died down, returning to an unnerving calm.
"Alright, we've arrived. It's time to explain to you both why we've come here." Kikan began, turning to look deeper in the forest. "No, Jyn, we are not facing a Kogarashi revival. They were defeated, and this mission has nothing to do with them. From the intel gathered, it seems no more than beasts running rampant in the countryside. However, neither of you are to drop your guard. There have been no confirmed sightings, so we could be dealing with an invading enemy. Let's move out. Stay close."
With that, Kikan lept off the branch to another, and another. Sure his Genin were hot on his heels, he pressed ever onward. After a solid 10 minutes, Kikan paused on a branch overlooking a small clearing. Holding a fist in the air, he signaled for the students to stop. Activating his single Byakugan, the standard veins began to make themselves apparent on his temple. Utilizing his near perfect vision, Kikan reached to the entent of his aura, searching for even a trace of disturbed Earth. When he had nearly finished surveying the area, he heard it - the roar of a beast not more than a few clicks away. The worst part was, Kikan couldn't discern what beast was making the noise.
"Stay alert! We don't know what lies ahead!" Kikan shouted.
He took off, launching over the clearing, and disappearing into a blanket of leaves. Deftly landing on a branch with one foot, Kikan lept to the next and further into the forest. Hopefully they wouldn't run into any surprises.
Jyn took a relieved breath as Kikan specified that they were hunting beasts. This was something Jyn had done since their youth so they were significantly less worried, though the lack of confirmed sighting was strange. "Do you sense any unusual chakra?" They asked conversationally, hoping their sensei was well-equipped with sensory jutsu.

__ Upon mention of beasts and sensory effects, Derane was at last able to shake himself out of his stupor, if only enough to activate his own eyes to look for any threats as well. Lagging a little behind his group, the genie's posture was almost daring anything to come out and attack him by using himself as bait. Assuming that these creatures were genuinely beasts, and that seemed plausible from the unnerving sounds coming from around him, then it was likely their instincts to hunt down the weakest looking of the pack would coax them out of hiding.

Kikan landed abruptly on the forest floor, his eyes transfixed somewhere in the distance before him, the veins on his temple pulsating from his Byakugan. Holding his left arm outstretched to his side, he called out to his students.
"Stop!" Kikan said sharply. "Unfortunately, Jyn, it seems I have. There's somebody up ahead. Watch yourselves."
Kikan lowered his arm and turned to look at the duo with his black eye. They seemed up for a fight, particularly Derane. Where he once seemed aloof and unimpressed, there was now a cautious focus. I better keep an eye on him... Turning back to the matter at hand, Kikan stared a hold into the thicket before them. Within a few moments, a man who looked like a farmer came barreling through the brush, tumbling to the ground in front of them. Kikan drew a kunai and held it backwards in his hand, preparing for a trap. The frightened man began to gain his bearings when he noticed the group of shinobi.
"W-who are you? You n-need to get out of here!" The man spurted in a panic. "That, that... beast is going to k-kill us all!"
"You need to calm down sir." Kikan shouted in reply. "What 'beast' are you talking about?"
Before the man could reply, it happened. Kikan's eye's darted to his right, where something enormous entered the range of his aura. It's so fast! Not enough time... Damn it! As quickly as he could, Kikan flickered directly in front of the unnamed peasant. With a quick hop, Kikan planted his foot on the farmer's chest and propelled, knocking him back and sending Kikan into a backflip. At nearly the same instant, the monstrous beast burst through the brush at blinding speed. Kikan raised his arm in the knick of time, and caught the claws on the beast with his kunai. The force was too much, however, and Kikan was sent spiraling backwards, slamming into a tree where he fell to the ground leaning against the tree.
"Jyn... Derane! We need... to bring it down." Kikan said between ragged breaths. "Be careful! It's more... dangerous than it looks."
Taking a second to look over at the farmer, Kikan was met with a grisly scene. The man was lying on the ground, blood pooling on the grass beneath him from four large gashes in his chest. Kikan's kick hadn't pushed him far enough out of the way. Looking back at the beast which was now standing still, growling at the trio of shinobi. It was a massive black bear, it's body racked with scars, with chunks taken out of it's ears. Curiously, the bear had an eyepatch over a presumably missing eye, and what seemed to be spiked cufflinks around it's wrists. What in the... No, it can't be... Kikan braced himself with a hand on his ribs, and used the tree to push himself back to his feet. Nodding to his two students, he turned his attention back to the monstrosity in front of them. They seemed to have located the beast that the Intel specified, but something else seemed to be at work here...
Jyn froze at the spot when Kikan moved to the farmer's side to assist but was ultimately unable to save him - and seeing Kikan thrown so hard at the hands of the beast... no, there was something unnatural at work here. No measly bear could land a strike on her sensei so easily. They slammed a hand onto the ground, leaving a seal [ Chakra Chains: Uprising ]. Then they pulled a kunai from their right side, throwing it just above the bear's head in order to gather it's attention, not to slice it. Ideally, the kunai would slice through the bear's shadow and keep it paralyzed, but the chain seal was in place in case they missed.
"I am trying to immobilize it. If I manage to stop it, you need to incapacitate it. We need to attend to the villagers and Sensei." They took to the trees above in order to see if the bear with be frozen in its shadow or if the chakra chains would have to pop out in a moment.

Afterwards, delaying up to one post, a large plethora of chakra chains will weave out from the ground and will launch rapidly at the target in order to constrain them. While in contact with the chains, the target will begin to have their life energy slowly sapped, and the cost of techniques will increase by 10 per jutsu until freed. Equal rank chakra is required to escape the chains once bound.
Kagemane Shuriken no Jutsu [ Shadow Imitation Shuriken Technique ] Rank: B Official Description: Shikamaru invented this technique while teaching himself to use Asuma Sarutobi's trench knives. By infusing the blades with his own chakra beforehand, they are given the effect of his shadow techniques. By using these weapons to pierce the enemies' shadows, they are paralyzed in place. To pierce the shadow, it is necessary to avoid the target just barely — Shikamaru added fake explosive tags when he used them against Kakuzu and Hidan to help with that. Since it is more difficult for the enemy to notice it, this ninjutsu compensates for the weak point of the similar Shadow Imitation Technique, being its limited effective range. It is unknown for how long this jutsu can keep its targets paralyzed, however it can be disrupted simply by the removal of the blade or by the disappearance of the opponent's shadow. Guild Description: Easily broken if used on the same opponent more than two [2] times in a fight, requiring only a B-rank amount of chakra to break free. For the first two times it requires an S-rank to break out from, and only after the first complete post of being trapped.

__ Eyes ever so slightly widening, Derane watched as first a man and then a bear came running from out of the forest. Now this was going to be fun. The breathe of battle filling his lungs, the genin stood prepared but unhelping as his teacher and animal clashed with each other. His concern lay only in himself at the moment. Following up with Jyn's lockdown efforts, the boy formed a single needle in between his fingers before launching the weapon he made certain to imbued it with more of his chakra. Although the bear would likely be trapped down thanks to Jyn's efforts, if she turned out to be unsuccessful there was an illusionary copy of the needle that would be just a few feet ahead of the real threat. Any simple swipe block would only lead to the real needle piercing the bear's other eye.
Mizu Hari [ Chakra Needle ] Rank: C :: Spiritual Official Description: Using the chakra control granted by the Gentle Fist, Hinata condenses nearby water and shapes it into needles to launch at a target. By using Byakugan, this technique can be used with great precision to hit very small targets such as bees. Requires an active Byakugan and training in the Art of the Gentle Fist to shape chakra & then to throw it. Mizu Hari denies an opponent their descriptive ranks when interacting with the technique.

When the projectile is launched it creates an illusory copy of itself several feet before it's physical form. The target will defend against this illusory copy while allowing the user's real weapon to strike. This technique negates all reflex descriptives and gains a slight increase in speed per rank.
Bang Shot Rank: C :: Complex Description:The user coats two projectiles in chakra per rank of the technique and releases them at a target. Upon impact, the chakra imbued weapons detonate with concussive force strong enough to create small craters within five feet of itself. These concussive explosions may knock back targets within their radius by five feet per rank. Those caught in the center of these projectiles tend to be rag dolled until unconscious.

Thrashing in an endless barbaric lust for blood the bear, while lost in this fevered passion, was wholly unaware for Jyn's precise shadow weaving. Her knife burying itself deep in the beasts shadow would leave him utterly helpless as spectral chains engulfed his form, ensuring that his capture was well layered. It was thanks to these efforts that Deane's needle, thrown with such lethal accuracy, was able to find it's mark. Pinpoint tip stabbing through the center of the bear's pupil as if it were a scene out of a horror movie. Unlike in those gory tales however, this one carried with it no blood. While it was clear to all those in the area that the animal had struck down, it still appeared to have enough fight in it to continue going after being stabbed in the brain. As if that wasn't enough, there came a rustling from the bushes behind the two genin. Was this another beaat come to flank them from behind? It certainly appeared that way when another rustle in the ambient greenery dispelled any fanciful notions that perhaps it was only the wind nor some other unforeseen coincidence. Assuming the boy with the byakugan bothered enough to glanced behind him, would he find the colorful forms of two chakra entities lurking in the shadows. Both of which were humanoid.

"Sensei! Is this just a regular animal or is this something more sinister?" They asked with seriousness as they eyed it cautiously. If it were just an animal, they could end it and prepare it for its meat and fur like they'd done with their family for years. But... it had moved with such a strange consciousness that they had doubts. What if it were a shinobi disguised as a beast? They couldn't take any chances, not yet.
"What is that?" Jyn said loudly, startled at the rustling in the bushes. They turned to gaze at Derane briefly. "Are you capable of summoning water?" They asked him as they created a hand seal associated with fire. It was the only warning they gave before summoning a whirlwind of fire that launched into the bushes.

__ Staring down the bear Derane prepared another needle between his fingers seeing as the first seemed to have little effect. Did he missed it's vital? No, that couldn't be it. He was certain he had stabbed it, and even now could see with his byakuguan that it had been pierced. Just what is this thing made out of? That was when the rustling from behind caught his attention. Immediately the genin glanced over his shoulder to make outout what looked to be two figures attempting to hide in the brush. Had they a means to hide their chakra signature they might had been able to ambush the trio. Working in conjunction with his partner Derane turned partially while forming another needle in his hand, the first was thrown at the pair in the trees and would only strike the left most man if he attempted to dodge to the right of Jyn's flame tornado. The second was thrown at the bear and aimed to pierce the animals skull a second time and hopefully end his threat.

Mirai sat curled up with her knees up to her chest in the bushes, tiny fingers working tirelessly to break the collar off of her neck. She had no clue where this man was taking her or whatever this 'slave' business meant, but one thing was cemented in her mind... escape. Escape and get this ridiculous collar off of her neck so that she could finally create her mirrors.
While still trapped in this feeble position Mirai was caught unaware of the the approaching flame whirlwind until it's heat was close enough that she could feel it on her skin. Panic exploding on her face the girl did immediately what her first instinct told her, dodge. With a leap the girl somersaulted from the trees and directly into the fray. Scarlet eyes wide from the shock of meeting other people Mirai did the only thing that came naturally to her in this kind of situation, make herself small. The smaller you were the less people noticed or at the very least didn't consider you a threat.

Joseph watched the bear give the genin trio some trouble. Even with it's restraint ls locked in place the animal was impressively ferocious. A trait that Joseph himself valued highly. Even better was the giddiness that he felt tingling through his body! He had already found a prime catch today but just imagine if he could four?! And not just of any variety but real life ninja from Konohagakure. There was more than one bidders who would pay a pretty penny for guards of that variety, even if they were of a 'weaker' ranking. That man knocked prone was going to fetch a high prize as well. Maybe enough to retire on! Could a Jounin really get beat back do easily?
Lurking, waiting, watching, Joseph stood there keeping a tight eye on his slave girl right up until one of the ninja seemed to notice him. Even after being found out the man simply froze in place trying to deny that he was even there. When that of course failed, the man cupped his hands together forming a sort of directional nozzle that sprayed a jet of water past his fingers tips. His lips curled back in a sleazy smile that displayed a broken collection of either missing or black teeth. "Oh don't worry about that I think I know some water jutsu! Hahaha. You know I was waiting for that bear to do most of my work for me but I guess since you're so egar I can collar you all right HERE!" With it's natural weakness the fire was pierced by the water stream and threatened to do the same to the young girl if she choose not to dodge or block.
