Sea Slug Field Study

The Gastrodon would perk up as Ryan made himself known and immediately his at him, shaking its soft body in a threatening manner as purple fluid seeped out of its skin as part of its threatening display. The nearby Shellos would all begin to cry out in a panic while another Gastrodon came up and pushed the girl into the water, this one and another corralling her and the Shellos all together in a single group. Yet another Gastrodon would step up, a blue Eastern Sea one, and join the side of the first Western Sea Gastrodon which Ryan faced.

The two Gastrodon readied themselves for a fight against Ryan, prepared to protect the colony's young. No manner of talking would get through to a Pokemon wrapped up in breeding hormones, which only left one other option.

"Don!" The two Gastrodon shouted before they went on the offensive. The pink one would follow up its threat of poison by vomiting up a nasty clump of Sludge at Brionne while the blue one took the low road and unleashed a surge of Muddy Water aiming to sweep the threats away.

Ryan sighs and uses his Lapis Defense to shield himself and Undine. "Alright Undine, this time, use Sing and Sing with meaning! We need to end this, now!" Ryan says as he focuses on his Defense, making it a bit thicker than normal to repel anything that the Gastrodon might throw at them.

Undine nods. She then takes a deep breath and begins singing her heart out as loud as she can. Sleep was coming to as many as she could reach with her voice.

As the Sing went off the pair of Gastrodon began to growl but their growls would slowly but surely soften as the song began to lull them to peace and sleep. Before long the before would slump over and pass out, surrendering to the song and falling fast asleep.

Ryan drops his Lapis Defense and sees the result. He was pleasantly surprised. He then made a beeline for the girl, Undine right on his heels.

Ryan drops his Lapis Defense and sees the result. He was pleasantly surprised. He then made a beeline for the girl, Undine right on his heels.

Ryan would find the girl in the pool, barely staying afloat with various Shellos huddled around her. She seemed to be holding onto one of the Shellos to stay above water and curiously the little creature didn't seem to mind, perhaps its own instincts kicking in to stay with its brethren overriding its instincts to get away from strange things.

Ryan quickly walks out over the water to the girl and holds out his hand to her, Undine waiting by the shore to guard their escape path in case the Gastrodon woke before they could get out of there.

"Come on, little one. Time to get you back with the others." Ryan says calmly even in this tense of a situation.

The little girl was quick to grab onto Ryan's hand and be taken into his arms. Once she was safe though she looked over at the wailing group of Shellos then beyond them, it was there she pointed. "Mister Caughtem? What's wrong with that one? The others are mean to it." She said, pointing out a peculiar Shellos floating towards the edge of the pool.

It looked similar to an East Sea Shellos but instead of being blue it had a purplish coloring and instead of two knob-like protrusions on its head it had four, two on each side and they stood up more erect like spikes.

Ryan looks over to the Shellos that the little girl had pointed out. It was rather unique. "

Stay here." he says to her and heads over to the odd Shellos. His presence should scatter the others, but Ryan would reach out to that unique Shellos.

"Hey there. You're an interesting one. Why don't you come with me? I'll keep you safe. How about it, yeah?" He asks the sea slug.

"Shell?" The Shellos uttered, looking up at Ryan with a confused look, more baffled that it approached him than it was scared of him, at least at first. "Shellos shellos!" It cried, vibrating its soft body vigorously, a purple liquid oozing out of it much like what the Gastrodon did but its seemed...thicker? Must be another difference. When the Shellos saw this wasn't bothering Ryan or scaring him it stopped and gave him another confused look before swimming up closer to him.

"Los?" It chirped as it sniffed his leg. Then, as if making a decision, it swam behind him and just floated there, its eyes fixated on him and never flinching. If Ryan moved it moved with him, if Ryan stopped it stopped. Apparently the Shellos was so hungry for companionship that it latched onto Ryan, the first creature that wasn't scared of it.

Ryan smiles. "Looks like a yes to me, so let's get going. We have to get out of here now." the channeler says. The island wouldn't be safe for a while after this. Ryan heads back to shore and scoops up the little girl and carries her as the now quartet would make their way back to the others.

Once they got back to where the rest of the class was, Ryan would set the girl back down. "Alright! Due to some unforeseen circumstances, we are heading back to the Trainer School right now. Please pack up all of your things and get back to the pokemon you rode here on. Once everyone is ready, we are out of here!" Ryan announces to the class and signals to his pokemon.

Ryan then turns to the Shellos and offers the sea slug to get up on his shoulder. "Come on. You are coming with us too. I don't think you have any real reason to stay anyways." he says to the Shellos.

The children would do exactly as Mr. Caughtem said, the class having enough adventure and fright for one day. It wasn't long before they were all settled in on his various Water types, eagerly awaiting to get back to the big island.

As for the strange Shellos it would give Ryan another confused look as if it didn't understand what he wanted it to do, it was clear the Pokemon was young. With enough nudging and hints the slug would get the idea and slowly climb up Ryan's side and make its self comfortable on his shoulder, the Pokemon really not sure what to expect next but it was going to follow wherever Ryan went.

And with kids and Shellos now in tow, they would all set back out for the mainland. It wouldn't take long for them to get back to Melemele. Once all the kids had disembarked, Ryan recalls his full team and then leads the children back to the Trainer School and their classroom.

They would all make it to the classroom just fine, the kids happily heading back into the room and finding their seats, all of them boisterous with chatter as they tried to tell the teacher all that happened. She did her best to listen to them while also making her way to Ryan to speak with him personally.

"So, how did it go?" She asked, then spotting the strange Shellos on her shoulder. "Is that...a Shellos? Is it sick?"

"It was fine until a Gastrodon mistook that poor girl with the pink and white outfit for a Shellos. Then things got hectic. It was during that craziness, that I found this little guy. and I don't think so. He seems to be healthy. A bit skittish and shy due to being bulled by it's kind, but this is who he is." Ryan explains as he pats the Shellos on his head. He liked the little one. He was so unique!
