Spirit was cuddled down into the hiding spot she had found. It was lined with moss and leaves and anything else she could find to keep warm since Ghost had gone missing. Tailchaser, one of the neighboring clan cats had come across her and they had become friends, the long legged tom cat often bringing her any extra bedding to keep warm when he could. When she had met Split and those circumstances lead to her losing all her unexpected kittens but one, the frail she cat hardly left the spot now a days.
She spent most days and nights curled tightly around her only surviving kitten, an almost duplicate of Split himself, except tiny and frail just like she was. Many nights she spent blaming herself for the loss of the other two, sure that Split hated her for it. She only hunted when she could, which was hard with the heavy snowfall setting in. She wasn't a great huntress but her pelt color helped her blend in enough that she got by when she wasn't aided by other cats.
Today however, things seemed to just hit pretty hard and she found herself unable to move. Whisper would poke his tiny head out of her fur long enough to glare at the world around him, then disappear back inside to nurse or sleep. It felt like he slept just as much as she did. But today Tailchaser was supposed to come see her, promising tales of a grand adventure he had just recently went on and in turn, well, she supposed she had a tale to tell him now too.
The thought made her smile as she moved to groom the top of Whispers head.
