[Autumnriver and Brightstar] I have a report.

Autumnriver sighed as he approached the den to his leader. He wasn’t sure how he was going to report his sudden disappearance. Lightning clan had more then enough cats to spare a few that Starclan and even Forestclan had called on it’s followers. He approached the den’s mouth, suddenly very aware of how dry his mouth was. He suddenly didn’t know how to begin. He wasn’t sure how Brightstar would react to the news.

“Brightstar, may I speak wit you?” he called as calmly as possible. He didn’t want to give away how nervous he was, but he suspected that he gave that away the moment he showed up at the entrance of her den.

Sickness was plaguing the clan. Kits were sick and warriors were sick... and they were only going to heal thanks to the band of cats that had returned with cat mint. She had gotten a basic run down but honeyfur had ushered her back to her nest. She laid there, weak from the loss of another life. Her green eyes were dull when she looked up. "Yes... come in." She looked ragged and definitely not a powerful leader at the moment. "Autumnriver.... Its good to see you well.... Come sit... but not too close, if you arent sick i dont want you to catch it." She pushed herself to sit up which racked her body with coughs a moment.

"We were worried, have you come to tell me how you happened to be on a patrol knowing where tofind catmint?" She dindt sound angry... more just curious.

Autumnriver sighed a little, looking at his leader. He did as he was told and didn’t get near her. He didn’t like seeing her weak. The illness had taken its toll on the clan. He nodded as she spoke.

“Yes,” he said. “It started with a dream from Starclan… and forestclan. A small group from both Lightningclan and Riverclan had the same dreams. We were call upon to find the cure. I wish we would have gotten back sooner.” Or left sooner, he thought, looking at the ragged and worn out she-cat in front of him. “Both our clans worked together to find the cure.”

She watched him, and was happy to see him healthy mostly, a little thin it seemed but the sickness seemed to have passed him by. "Good."


She nodded for him to continue and she gave a weak smile. "Just in time it seems.... Luckily we have only lost one kit to this cough and not the whole clan thanks to the catmint you and the rest of the cats have brought back."

She pinned her ears, perhaps if they had gotten back sooner cheetahkit would be alive and well, but that was surely in the paws of starclan."So where did you find Catmint? Did you have to travel far?" She nooded. "Im glad that you worked together, and that riverclan has some catmint too!"

“Our searched ended at a twoleg nest far to the northeast,” Autumnriver continued. “It was past Sandy Grounds. There was a kittypet there. Actually, if it wasn’t for Tailchaser, Wildstripe, and Petalnose, we probably wouldn’t been able to get anything… For a former kittypet, he done well on this mission.” He closed his eyes, recalling the events of the long trip. “The rest of us stood guard on the outside of the fence in case it went south, and we would have to all go in and take it. Thank Starclan it didn’t come to that. There is one other thing…” Autumnriver sighed a little, not sure how he was going to tell Brightstar. “On the return trip, the Lightningclan cats escorted the Riverclan cats to their territory. It was the quickest route for them to take.”

“I walked by the nursey,” Autumnriver said on a more cheerful note. “Seems it has been full of kits while we were away.” Autumnriver suspected that Brightstar was already fully aware of nursey. He wondered when his own kits would be born, but without Emberglory, that seemed like an impossibility. He had hopes of finding her on his quest, but he completely forgot about her. “Have you eaten? Perhaps I can bring you something?”

Brightstar gave a nod. "Wonderful, i didnt know there was a twoleg nest anywhere near here." She frowned at how he worded that and she sighed. "Thats good... They shouldnt have worried, being on a call from starclan and all... " Her greeneyes, dull from sickness held a bit of sadness of how the whole kit incident had gone down. "But good on escorting them."

Brightstar gave a smile. "Yes, although i havent seen them all, ive been trying to not get another cat sick... I hear there are four new kits, which is wonderful... Hopefully this leafbare wont drag on too long."

She gave a choked purr. "I have, but thank you Autumnriver... For going on a long journey and back. And for coming to tell me."

Autumnriver felt unusually warm under his thick orange fur. He wasn’t expecting such a praise form his leader. He lowered his head respectfully, not sure what else more he could say or even report. “I, uh, I should let you rest.” He was sure that Honeyfur would object to anyone disturbing their recovering leader. “There is no need to thank me. The clan comes first.”
