“Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself. It is precisely that simple and it is also that difficult.” – Warren Bennis
---

Welcome to the clan application thread! Upset that your Leader is cowardly or worried they'll serve you up as dog chow? Or perhaps you just feel your cat can be a good leader or you're a Loner who's tired of being alone... Then making a clan might just be for you!

Any cat is welcome to attempt to apply for leadership, but please thoroughly read this thread to ensure you know what you and your cat are getting themselves into! There are a few expectations for clans and leaders alike.

LEADERSHIP INFO & DUTIES
  • Each person is allowed ONE leader at a time. If you have a leader cat and your deputy cat in another clan is up for promotion, you will have to pick between the two clans and either retire your leader for the new deputy to step up to the position OR retire your deputy from their position so that a new deputy can be chosen and moved to leader, that leader then will pick a deputy... and it may not be your cat.
  • Leaders receive 9 lives - each life is 2 months - so +18 months to your leaders life total as leader, if your cat doesnt lose any lives. Each life will deduct 2 months of leadership. Example: Shadowstar was promoted to deputy 2 months after she was received. So she was a warrior 4 months in toward senior, so +4 months to Senior + 6 months to Elder, + 18 months as leader for 9 lives, SO When she first got her lives, she extended her life out to 28 months. So currently in November she is down to 24 months~ So in November of 2021 is when Shadowstars leadership will end, unless she battles down to 0 and loses a life.
  • Leaders need to be Rped AT A MINIMUM at each META that their clan is part of and when staff call for them. Leaders NEED to be rpd or else the clan will die.
  • Leaders who do not participate in a META will lose lives, the number is based on how severely the meta needs the leader.
  • If a leader misses 3 METAs that their clan is part of they will be forced to step down no matter how many lives they still have left.
  • Players with a leader must answer questions about their clans, if you want secrets that's s fine you may come to staff to check to make sure, and then ICly have your cat refuse to answer questions, but if you are asked by a reg or staff about your clan you have to give us an answer so we know how to move forward.
  • Leaders really should have an opinion on things that could affect their clans.
  • Players must be willing to RP their Leader with other clan cats, despite the player's relationship with the cat's owner.
  • Leaders might be expected to RP with other cats for guidance, fixing inner clan relations, or other clan issues.
  • Leaders are allowed to dish out punishment to clan cats ICly. We just ask for a heads up on the situation in order to ensure peace between players. The punishment must fit the crime, it doesn't have to be fair... it needs to be believable. Got a blood thirsty leader who claws cats to an inch of their life over a mouse being sour, fine... (If you can keep your cats) but then disobedience should be a death sentence. You need to have a warning on your clan that as leader you may choose death for their cat at any time due to rules of how your clan works... So if you wouldn't kick a cat out for disloyalty... you cant kick a cat for refusing to go hunting say... (Again talk to staff, and talk to the player... give them the option to rethink the choice they made so if they didnt realize then you arent just killing cats >>; )
  • Once a leader hits their last life they will be given the chance to either retire or kill them off in kinda a grand way~.
  • Depending on what age the cat retires is what status they will return to.

CLAN RULES & REQUIREMENTS
  • In order to start a clan you need 10 cats: 1 Leader, 1 Deputy, at least one cat interested in medicine, and 7 clan cats to help with patrols.
  • At least 8 of the 10 cats need to be other players and not your own. From there on out, if you'd like to fill the clan with all your own cats then that's up to you! We just need to see interest in the clan outside yourself.
  • The Deputy must be a cat other than your own- Deputy players need to read the Leadership requirements above and understand that when the Leader retires it'll be up to the Deputy to take on the Leadership burden and name a new Deputy to join them. Unless, of course, your clan functions differently when it comes to the next round of leadership (like via voting, or being passed down to next of kin etc).
  • You're welcome to set requirements to join your clan (ie no Kittypets, must have only grey pelts, only females allowed, etc.), but cannot cherry-pick within those conditions because of the player or cat. Example: You have a female-only clan and a player wants to enter their female, but you say no due to your history with the player... Sorry, no can do. That player must be allowed to participate.
  • Brand new cats should be allowed into the clan on the condition they have been there the whole time OR if ok by the leader they could be a random loner/kittypet and would now need to be vetted.
  • Clans can be Starclan, Forestclan, or neutrally aligned. Meaning, the rules for your clans can pick things here or there from either alignment or completely misconstrue them for the benefit of the clan's own belief system. Or just make your own rules xD
  • If your clan falls below 10 cats of warrior age or younger, then the clan disbands into a rouge group and you will have to go through this process again.. (ie you cant have all the 'warriors' in your clan elder age~ )
  • When counting members aside from your own all that count are warriors and apprentices, if they are apprentices you MUST have a mentor for each apprentice. And the medicine cat can only take a medicine apprentice so they dont count toward totals.
  • Though not required, we do ask that you put some thought into your clan to make it different from others already established. Variety is what will give each clan its own unique viewpoint and reactions when it comes to METAs, RPs, etc.

Clan Name: Tribe of the High Mountain
Clan Alignment & Beliefs: Forestclan, in a sense. It's very much the same Forestclan, however they call it The Forest of Endless Hunting. The same general beliefs apply in that the tribe comes first, breeding outside the tribe is not outright banned but will not be punished for it. Healers may take mates, a cat may have multiple mates or many. It is HIGHLY encouraged to always thank Forest of Endless Hunting for every meal less they anger them and Forest takes away their prey or natural resources.
Starclan is not ideally recognized, in a sense. Starclan is treated the same as Forest of Endless Hunting by concept alone and while a cat wont get banned from believing in such, they may garner looks and be called as 'Odd One' or 'Star Speaker' (in more negative connotations).
Clan Joining Requirements: Must be strong in body, quick in mind and loyal in nature.
Clan Rules: High Mountain follows the Code of the Mountain Seeker.
Ranks all have different names, some with shorter versions for sake of ease.
Leader = Seeker of tall mountains or Mountain Seeker
Deputy = Listens to the Peaks or Peak Listener.
Medicine Cat = One who speaks to the Earth or Earth Speaker
Warriors = Huntmaster
Apprentices = Underling
Kittens = Kittens (May sometimes affectionately/teasingly be called Little Pebbles)
Elders = Keepers of tales past, or Tale Keepers

Mountain Seekers eat first, with Tale Keepers eating second, then Earth Speaker and Peak Listener together, then Huntmasters followed by Underlings and weened kits. Since they live in the mountain and food can be scarce, every Underling is trained to understand how to conserve energy first and foremost. Hunting is valued most, as to become a Huntmaster, a cat must prove themselves through a solo hunt, returning with either a large trophy or several small trophies to show for it. (Along with the fresh kills of course!)

High Mountain cats use their hunting prowess as their battle strengths. They are adept at longer fights and controlling their energy expenditure. Their usual tactics are more bait and catch, either tricking/luring their prey into their paws or more often, tiring out their prey and striking when it has nothing left to fight with. While a warrior cat might be able to end a fight with a High Mountain cat quickly if they have the upper paw, the reverse is that a High Mountain cat excels at long games of cat and mouse and will never give up.

Naming rules are similar in that their names are of a nature orientation but are generally more elaborate. While a cat has a shorter name for ease of speaking, such as Flower Bloom, their actual name would be something like "Flower that Blooms in Sunlight.".

All cats of High Mountain will be given a new name by the Mountain Seeker. While their old names are not forgotten, kept as treasured moments of their past, when joining and living within the tribe, they will be addressed by their new name. (This will be discussed/decided on by the players of course :3 Just with guidance/input from myself)

Why is your cat creating a new clan rather than joining one of the others?: Feather came from a previous tribe/lands where she grew up with the more tribe culture rather than clan culture. While she can appreciate the difference of the clan cats, its simply not 'home' to her and seeks like minded cats to recoup what little forces she moved in with. Being mountain born, the mountains were an obvious difference and she's here to show a cat a thing or two about mountain life.
Where is your cat setting up their Territory: In the mountains where the small band of cats journeyed through during the mini meta, both on and inside connecting or smaller cave systems in the mountain.
If this is over another clans border: It's not currently, but should any clan wish to expand further, High Mountain is not afraid to defend their territory.

Enemies and Allies: Guarded Neutral. High Mountain will never attack unless provoked but will not go out of their way to help other clans/loners either if it puts their numbers at risk. If they might owe another clan/loner a fleeting favor then they might consider it.

Clan Name: TreeClan
Clan Alignment & Beliefs: TreeClan's current leadership follows ForestClan, but that doesn't mean they won't allow StarClan followers into the Clan if they'd rather be apart of their Clan than someone else's. They encourage queens to teach their kits the ForestClan Code, but have modified it slightly so that loners are just as accepted as friends as cats from other Clans. Walking through branches, TreeClan cats believe that they are the closest Clan to ForestClan, for what is a forest without trees? Celestial cats aside, they also believe that trees are just as important as cats (because without trees, TreeClan wouldn't exist.) Tree seeds are given just as much care as new kits.
Clan Joining Requirements: An open-mind when regarding loners. Similarly, the understanding that if you're going to be joining, you're there to stay (unless the Clan disbands.) Tree-walking is exclusive to TreeClan, so if you want to learn the craft, you have to promise not to teach it to anyone who isn't apart of TreeClan. (The tree-walking that happens in TreeClan, stays in TreeClan.)
Clan Rules: They primarily follow the ForestClan code, with the modification that loners may also be befriended. They are not hostile towards StarClan cats or their followers (so long as they're civil and open-minded of TreeClan's own beliefs.) Traditions are very important to TreeClan (such as passing on the secret of tree-walking, planting a tree seed to each of their fallen comrades, so that the cat from beyond can continue to support the Clan, even after they've joined ForestClan, etc.)
Why is your cat creating a new clan rather than joining one of the others?:Robin much prefers the sanctuary of living up in the trees and this is something that the current Clans do not. Tree-walking was a skill she developed to keep herself safe from predators on the ground, but she's since improved upon it allowing it to include hunting and battle. For Robin, tree-walking is as easy as breathing and she's certain that there are other cats that either feel the same... or can be taught as much.
Where is your cat setting up their Territory: Red dot for camp, within the red lines for territory (Territory size has potential to expand based on interaction with other leaders, but for the time being, this is where they're staking their claim.)
If this is over another clans border: TreeClan's territory currently passes into quite a significant amount of LightningClan's territory. Granted, it is only the tree prey (squirrels and birds) that TreeClan hunts, so surely Brightstar wouldn't be too upset about sharing the territory... or just giving it to TreeClan as an act of good will? Robin is more than happy to discuss civilly their new living arrangements, but really... TreeClan has the upper advantage here, if you ask her. Literally.

Enemies and Allies: Currently friendly to both RiverClan and LightningClan (though since they are living partially within LightningClan's trees, things may get a bit strained with the current forest clan cats.) Enemies consist primarily of Twolegs, because Robin has seen them cut down trees before. Other ground prey (foxes, badgers, hostile cats) are more of a nuisance than a true threat, at least as far as Robin's concerned.
