______________ Purpose
tab Much like Beastmasters, some Tinkers build their own companions. The difference is that Mechas and Automotons, the two types of machines that can be made as Tinker Companions, are just that: machines. While a living, breathing creature has a whole host of autonomous systems required to sustain its life as well as function, the Tamer Companion has no such need. These companions can range from full mechanized animal replicas to auto-piloted armor pieces that can fire at will based on pre-designed algorithms, and as such deal with advanced technology that altogether function differently than a living one. Therefore this shop has been created to list Augments, which is the collective term for all hardware and software options listed below.

tab • Tinker Creation Slots
tab tab tab → Also known as TCS, these are awarded based on the rank of the Tinker who selects the appropriate D – ranked Discipline. Beginning at D – rank, the Tinker gains eight [8] TCS, with an additional base of four [4] per experience rank. A Personal Attribute may be used to either grant an additional eight [8] right off the bat, or take an additional two [2] per Experience Rank, maxing out at eight [8] at A – rank.
tab • Limb
tab tab tab → A Limb is the piece of hardware the Augment is attached to. By definition it is an individual part, clearly separate from the rest of the construction, and has its own, individualized function within the entire infrastructure of the construct. Limbs, as a rule of thumb, range from as small as a microchip to something as large as an animals torso, minus any extremities.
tab • Sentience
tab tab tab → Sentience for a Tinker’s companion is a very different subject than for a Beastmaster’s Companion. In fact, the software for Tinker Companion is often a very simple, simulated intelligence, similar in nature to a video game character. It is nearly always scripted, hollow, and without emotion.


______________ Protocol // Rules
tab • Begin creation by selecting the base limb structures, from Torso, head, arms, legs, etc. Keep in mind that these need not be shaped like a humanoid or animal, but each Limb takes one [1] TCS to build. See Limb above for further limitations.
tab • Below are a list of a list of Augments, including both hardware and software, that go into building your companion. Keep track of the number of slots each Augment requires, and do not go over the total you are allowed.
tab • A Certain number of Charges are required to maintain control and interaction with a companion based on the overall complexity of the creation, and the number of TCS they take up. Please see the Thresholds section below for further details on the number of charges requires to control a Companion, based on the number of TCS it bears.
tab • All Limbs come with a built-in battery. Each battery can store up to one third [1/3] of the owner’s current Energy Pool, distributed as they desire. These may be refilled wirelessly as long as the Limb is currently attached to a Tinker’s currently active Control Rod. This energy is expended depending on types of attacks, types of machinery used, etc. Ten [10] mana and chakra are always reserved, per experience rank of the companion, for base functions.

tab tab → +2 TCS
tab tab → A one time cost that allows the companion to be split into multiple parts and still function as one [1] companion. Individual parts require separate costs for mobility if not already paid.
tab • Propulsion
tab tab → +1 TCS per Limb || +1 TCS per Rank of Speed Beyond Base
tab tab → Adding a small propulsion system isn’t difficult, but building one that is fast is costly. Upon selection, the Propulsion system uses one of two systems: Combustion, or Spiritual. Engines made of Combustion burn Stamina energy and convert the fuel directly into flames, per the name. Spiritual Engines run entirely on Mana, and appear to move without any sort of force, though touching the engine can cause physical pain in the bones of the appendage used. In both cases, propulsion is at D – rank as a base, meaning they can move pay no higher than D – rank to avoid attacks. By spending an additional one [1] TCS the rank of the propulsion is increased by one [1], allowing them to spend one [1] rank higher in cost to avoid attacks. This cost is paid per propulsion system. This is not necessary to take if the Companion uses arms/legs to maneuver.

tab tab → +2 TCS
tab tab → A powerful tool that comes with great risk, a Link can be inserted into any companion that has a broadcast antenna. This Link allows the Tinker who is in physical contact with their Control Rod and who is currently tethered to their companion to take over the senses of their companion, and experience what their companion does. This also allows instant communication to their companion on a metal/direct interface level, and allows the Tinker to not only interface like this, but mentally change programming from a distance.

tab tab → All Mechas receive two types of Sensory devices by default, unless chose otherwise: a Mana Pulse Receiver, and a speaker somewhere on the anatomy that allows tones and/or words to be played from it. The first in all respects acts like eyes but at an angle of 140 degrees, facing “forward”, that allows them to detect things in the visual range. However, this does not include “hearing”, or advanced optics, and as such any advancement past these basics will cost +1 TCS. Such examples include a sensory receiver, allowing for vocal commands, or a radar generator that can send and receive signal much like radar, though such ranges are at two hundred [200] meters per TCS invested.
tab • Shielding/Armor
tab tab → +2 TCS per Rank
tab tab → Allows the generation of mana or electrical based shielding (mana deflecting spells, and electricity affecting energy-based spells and effects), or the addition of bulk plating upon the mecha for additional defense. The cost paid increases the natural armor/shield defense by one [1] rank per time cost is paid, with a set number of five [5] durability for each rank of defense. Cost is for entire mecha’s overall armor, and covers all limbs.
tab • Antennae/Receiver
tab tab → +1 TCS
tab tab → Adds an antennae to a limb that allows a variety of benefits. Is required for any input/output Augment that sends/receives a signal. Only need be paid once for construction. All Augments that provide benefits as stated previously include a physical upgrade to the antennae/receiver to better accept/send those signals.
tab • Multi-tool
tab tab → +1 TCS
tab tab → Acts as the Multi-tool Cranker Evo, and can be either stored within a limb or be an external tool. Includes a tiny “limb” that acts as a maneuvering arm for the intended tools.
tab • Gun Barrels
tab tab → +1 TCS per Barrel
tab tab → Guns have unique rules all their own, which are as follows:
          • Each time this Augment is selected the Barrel's configuration must be picked. There are two configurations: ballistics, and energy. Ballistics pays stamina and is a Simple type attack. Energy is paid with Mana, and launched a line of energy that is considered a Spiritual type attack. This Augment does not allow one [1] barrel to be both, and thus a Barrel cannot do Complex damage.
          • The default Speed Rank of a barrel is D - rank. Two [2] TCS may be paid to increase the speed of all barrels on that limb by one [1] rank.
          • The default Strength Rank of a barrel is D - rank. Two [2] TCS may be paid to increase the Strength of all barrels on that limb by one [1] rank.
          • One [1] Activation is used to fire one [1] Barrel one [1] time. As such, having five [5] barrels would require five [5] activations to fire them all.

tab • Multi-Shot
tab tab → +1 TCS per Barrel to Chain
tab tab → This Augment allows the barrels on a limb to fire with perfect synchronization, allowing them to do more damage together than apart. However, there is a limit. Each time this is selected one [1] barrel is added to the number of barrels that can be fired in one [1] activation. All targets must be the same, unless it's a broadside maneuver. While this will not affect the Speed rank of the barrels, the Damage rank increases by one [1] per additional barrel fired. As such, if the cost is paid twice [2x] the Damage Rank is increased by two [2] ranks, but only if all three [3] barrels are fired at one [1] target. Note, all barrels affected must be on the same limb to benefit from this.
tab • Independent Battery

tab tab → All limbs come with one [1] battery automatically that are charged by the Tinker, but an Independent battery carries a small Control Rod Core within it that allows the mecha to recharge them with the same rule as Tinker Cores. Exposure to ranked amounts provides thirty [30] energy per rank, with a maximum capacity equal to three hundred [300] energy. These independent batteries can charge the entire companion as desired, and each time the cost is paid the Tinker decides to either increase the capacity of the first battery or to add on another one.
