Name: Lutea
Age: 28
Nameday: 3548.02.11
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: /sweats/
Weyr: High Reaches Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Drudge
Physical Description: Lutea is on the smaller side of average in height, clocking in at 5’4”, with curly red hair, freckles, and dark, dark eyes. She had a notable lisp before impression and despite being ‘cured’ of it, still speaks in the quiet way she did before in order to mask it.
Personality: Lutea is painfully aware of her position in the world - and isn’t exactly eager to step outside of it. She’s doing her best to not be too much and draw attention to herself. She understands the honor of being a dragonrider at all, but is happy to not be on anything of more attention than a green (and the finest of all greens, if she were to be questioned on it). She knows to flex her own intelligence may turn others away from her, so she keeps it to herself. She doesn’t wear herself too proudly, doesn’t talk too loudly, and doesn’t try to catch attention - under the radar is right where she’d like to be, even if she has to hold herself back.
That means nobody is in for any surprises with her. Lutea won’t be bucking the natural order, or acting out of what is expected of her. Even with all of the security in the world, Lutea lives in an almost constant fear of disrupting the world around her - and her place in it - by being out of turn. She doesn’t respond to change very well either - change means a new set of rules, and oh does this girl not want to mess up things in the scramble to reorient. Not that anybody would ever guess, with a poker-face so strong that it doesn’t even flinch under the highest of pressures - which happens to be herself.
Very rarely can one find Lutea willing to act out because of her feelings - whether the good or the bad. She is a very muted girl and in some circles she’d be considered the very image of a perfect lady - assuming you like your ladies knowing their place, not acting out, and not willing to argue. Seen, not heard. But she is doing a lot of hearing and seeing, keenly aware of her surroundings and the shifts in them - who is in power in a conversation or room, who is being appealed to (and perhaps whom she should be making appeals to), and more than that - who she can trust when she does desperately need to finally get out all of her feelings.
There is no messing up for Lutea - at least, not if she wants to live.
Positive Trait List Composed, Constant, Alert
Negative Trait List Stressed, Fearful, Subdued
History: Lutea was born a Drudge - her mother was a drudge, her father was an unknown and while an infant was tolerated, it was only so far. So little Lutea learned to be quiet and stand at her mother’s heels, but not under foot. Out of the way, preferably neither seen nor heard. She didn’t begrudge her life - nor could she understand the lives of others who could talk more freely. She’d grow to understand the freedom of not having an uncertain future was why they did - and why she was told not to.
So Lutea kept her head down, expectant that her life wouldn’t hold more than it did - and appreciating what security it did have. As long as she didn’t draw attention, as long as she didn’t stand out. But she did stand out - and her deferral of attention only went so far. It couldn’t very well turn away a Search Dragon from being interested. It couldn’t keep her mother, desperate to see her away anywhere else, from pushing her to go.
And it wouldn’t keep away the little green that came calling for her. Lutea! Lutea! Darling, looking at you I’d think you’d never been loved in your entire life! Come, come, let your Gelith fix it! It was a request that she’d never heard before, but she’d submit to it anyways.
Luta of Green Gelith was at least a consistent Weyrling who would graduate to a not-stand-out but reliable rider, content to have a place in a Wing, though she worried about the safety of her mother. She’d at least send letters, which went unreturned almost from the start - and at least consistently send them into a void where they would go unanswered.
In the 11 turns that Lutea has been a dragonrider, she has shied from standing out too much and has all but avoided praise in circumstances that didn’t involve a group if she could help it. To many she is perhaps unmemorable, which she finds alright too. Not that it has stopped Thread from burning her or her dragon’s hide, but she has found it is easier to focus all of her uncertainty upon it, than on a world at peace. Though she’d have preferred the world of peace.
Other: Lutea does not know the status of her mother - she has been too afraid to go and look herself (and then do what? Have to think of a next step? Aaaa!)
DRAGON
Name: Gelith
Age: 11
Color: Green
Size: 21’
Physical Description: Small in length, Gelith is a hardy creature, perhaps a bit on the pudgy size - though it seems that she is simply built that way. It makes her a fine cuddler, at the very least.
Personality: Gelith knows what is good for you, so please let her take care of you! This green is almost needlessly fussy at all times and wants nothing more than to adore and be appreciated for the effort. Which may make her fussing appear to be it’s much worse cousin - nitpicking. She will be the first to know what someone is lacking and try to fill that void, only to call attention to problems that were perhaps going happily unknown or ignored.
When admonished, Gelith is quick to back down, having little desire to assert herself, even when she is in the right. She lives in constant threat of being stepped all over because of her caretaker, not fighter, personality. Where many are warriors, Gelith would be the supporter, the foundation that if it weren’t for the way a Weyr is run, would go completely forgotten for tending to things that are, perhaps, unimportant. She is one who cares about the little things that get lost in looking after the big picture. Which can cause some unfortunate hangups about things that are, by logic, fine - Yes, Gelith, someone will put that bucket away soon. No, Gelith, that child is not being ignored. Gelith, I promise somebody didn’t leave the feeding pen open.
Gelith is a very tactile dragon who cannot rest on words alone, and requires a lot of physical attention - the touch of her rider, seeing the pen is closed with her own eyes, being shown that yes the child got back to the creche. She particularly enjoys cuddles, baths, and will lean her weight into others as a show of affection. However, she can be particular about textures and temperatures - this brush is wrong, the water is a little too cold. Gelith is a lot of give and take - and she’s really trying her best to be more of the ‘give’.
