β–±β–°β–±One week after the events of Pride and Prejudice, Lord Hajime of the Imperial Lightning Hyuga Clan has invited his heir Kenshin Hyuga and his betrothed, Lady Ada Rio, to the Harehoru Estate (ζ™΄γ‚Œγƒ›γƒΌγƒ«, Sunny Hall) in Kumoito. Ada and Kenshin received their invitations immediately after news traveled to Hajime of the Rio's suitor gala. During the week, Kenshin placed his resignation from his position as captain of the Arashigakure Police Department and has been taking the necessary steps to transfer the leadership position to Kojiro Kanzaki. Ada and Kenshin's relationship has continued to blossom with his regular dinner visits to her home and vice versa. However, Kenshin has not seen Ada for two days because he was abruptly called to hold court in his progressively more ill grandfather's stead with direction from his attendant, Yui Nakamura. After this, Kenshin returned to Arashigakure and spent one day in the village before going to Ada's house with breakfast on the morning of their travel day. Hajime has invited them to the Harehoru Estate to discuss the details of their union, his will, and the arrangements for Kenshin's succession. The newly-betrothed pair now must contend with the practical questions of their marriage. What will the arrangements for the wedding be? What is their vision to best serve the clan and the emperor? How would the dowry's funds be spent to improve the clan's position? Hajime intends to approach these questions with urgency and the pair must begin to plan for the future that is closer than they may suspect...

The Days Before: Harehoru Estate

β–±β–°β–±Kenshin had spent several hours holding court on Hajime's behalf with Yui seated at his side as his advisor. Sitting on the throne in the elegant but simple hall of the Hyuga clan's head was a strange experience. He was treated with a regal resonance that was difficult to get used to despite his hours of training and review with his attendant. Kenshin was conservative in his minor decisions on Hajime's behalf so as to not inadvertently ruffle any feathers. It was more like he was working off of a script in any case but Yui indicated that he handled the clan's business well. Once the meetings were over, Kenshin tried to walk to his guest bedroom but was stopped by Yui. "Sir Kenshin! I'm so excited, it's almost time for our poetry lesson!" She stepped in his way and beamed with excitement. "Poetry lesson?" Kenshin asked with an arched eyebrow before she turned away and motioned for him to follow her. He stepped into the official lesson room which he had never seen before. Kenshin was accustomed to Yui's lessons in how to be a proper nobleman being in his living room in Arashi. It was clear by the decor that it was formal but still frequently occupied by young Hyuga boys of school age. Kenshin sighed before sitting on the mat at the low table across from Yui who completely covered the surface in poetry and literature. He rubbed his temples but made an effort to be patient given her immense help in teaching him the proper etiquette and dancing that was required for the gala. "If your previous lessons worked and I'm now betrothed then aren't your duties complete?" Kenshin questioned as he looked over the numerous books that Yui was gleefully tossing onto the table's surface. "Sir Kenshin, I'll be continuing these lessons for as long as Lord Hajime commands! Your dancing, dueling, calligraphy, politics, tea culture, etiquette, and dining lessons are concluded but we're not done yet, mister! Your poetry, literature, and letter writing lessons are just beginning!" Yui enthusiastically listed off each lesson type and was pleased that Kenshin was progressing so quickly. She believed that he was almost done but she had a secret agenda. The attendant desperately wanted him to become better at expressing himself to his betrothed to ensure the long term stability of their union. Kenshin would not protest but he was far from comfortable with these constant lessons. "So I need those to be an adequate nobleman? Is there anything else?" Kenshin grit his teeth as he asked so that there would be no further surprises. Yui tapped her chin as she opened her first poetry lesson book before shaking her head. "Nope! You're almost done! How exciting!" Yui's favorite lessons involved poetry and Kenshin would grow suspicious as he realized that every single sonnet was about love. Yui's heart went aflutter at the thought of Kenshin reciting a romantic poem to Lady Rio. Meanwhile, Kenshin's uncertainty was only exacerbated. "Why do I need to know love poems to be a nobleman?" He fully intended to comply but he needed to know the logical purpose of all of this as Yui tried to teach the stern man the meaning of a stanza. "This is all a part of the courting process, Sir Kenshin. I'm proud that you were given Lady Ada's hand, but there are many formalities of traditional courtship, including reciting and writing poetry for the lady." Yui explained the situation gently to him as she had a feeling that this would be a unique challenge for him. Trying to teach him calligraphy and arts was difficult enough. She noted that he dutifully went through the motions but even that might be strained in this case. Getting Kenshin to express his intimate emotions was a pry for her but she deeply wanted to help him. "Not that it's any of your business, but I already told Lady Ada that I love her and I spend time with her." Yui nodded in response but then became starry-eyed and broke her dignified composure. The hopeless romantic became elated and excited by the romance that she saw bloom on the dance floor at the gala and wanted to help. "That's amazing! But how does she know that you love her? How do you show her you love her? How does she know that you really, really, truly love her? It's not enough to take the one you love for granted! You must remind her or she'll be inclined to say...how do I knooooooow he loves me?! How do I knooooooow he's mine?! Well, do you leave a little note to tell her she's on your mind?! Send her yellow flowers when the sky is gray! Read her a lovely poem! You'll need to find a new way to show her a little bit every day, that's how she'll know you're her love!" Yui stood and serenaded Kenshin with an upbeat song that resulted in his eyebrow furrowing even more. "Please stop singing." He said flatly and with an exhausted sigh. Kenshin was not a fan of music or poetry and this was all over stimulating him. He opened a poetry book and read through some in an effort to cooperate. "Ada is romantic and would like these..." Kenshin's tone was one of sensibility and consideration. Despite Yui's grandiosity, he had to internally concede to her point that she would enjoy him writing and reading poetry to her despite his own reservations about the idea. "Love seeks not with the eyes but with the mind. And, therefore, is winged cupid painted blind." Kenshin read the lines rather eloquently as he considered words he might want to say to Ada. Yui giddily clapped as she sat back down and continued on with the lesson. He felt embarrassed and foolish but supposed that the lessons would come naturally to him at the appropriate time. Yui would continue teaching him the basics and even had him learn to author poems of his own in subsequent lessons.

The Morning Of: Harehoru Estate

β–±β–°β–±Hajime rose early in the morning from a less than satisfactory slumber. However, he felt significantly less weary today than he did for the last few days. He was too tired and ill to see Kenshin but it was reported that he performed his duties well on Hajime's behalf. He knew that Kenshin returned to Arashigakure yesterday and that he would return but with his betrothed by noon. Hajime was assisted into his wheelchair by his wife, Ichika Hyuga, before taking an extremely hot bath to soothe his frail body. Once he was dressed in his elegant day robes, he sat at the table with tea, an extravagant breakfast, and a chessboard. Ichika kissed his forehead before leaving him and calling in Yui Nakamura. Kenshin's attendant was ordered by Hajime to wait at Harehoru for Kenshin's return. Yui entered the room and sat across from the lord when offered. His hand tremored as he moved the chess pieces across the board to set up a practice game with himself. "Apologies for waking you so early." Hajime said briefly before inhaling some tea and clearing his extremely hoarse throat. Yui smiled pleasantly before shaking her head. "No trouble at all, my lord. How may I be of service?" Yui watched Hajime's pensive focus on the chessboard as he moved a pawn on each side of the board to begin two particular strategic formations. "Kenshin and Lady Ada will be here today. I read your report on this...gala but I require your more direct eye witness impressions. You wrote that Lady Ada declared Kenshin as her betrothed, created a jeweled statue of them dancing, and may have even choked her father to assert control over the Rio? What's your opinion on her as a noblewoman after witnessing this?" Hajime looked up from the board after moving some more pawns and a knight. The traditionalist man was anxious about the mixed rumors he was hearing of his heir's betrothed. She was clearly ambitious and clever but he was nervous about her possible intentions in the Hyuga clan. Yui nodded before smiling softly. "Your perspective on my report is accurate, m'lord. Those events did occur although I'm unsure if Lord Rio was actually being choked by her. As for Lady Ada herself, Lord Toru and Lord Shojiro were both arrested along with several conspirators for blackmailing and extorting her. I'm rather inspired by how she accepted the leadership of her clan, as an adoptive daughter no less. Sir Kenshin and Lady Ada also clearly appear to be intensely in love with each other." Yui offered her opinions and perspectives with grace and eloquence. Hajime nodded in an almost begrudging concession as he poured more tea into his cup and took a few more bites of breakfast. Over the years, the young Yui had begun to rise from merely an etiquette teacher to a trusted advisory role for Hajime. Her professionalism and loyalty to the clan was so consistent that he was compelled to rely on her opinions more. "Yeah because love as the basis for marriage always goes well..." Hajime mumbled with cynicism as he considered his next words. Over the last several months the ill elder felt much closer to death than ever before. The once patient, strategic, and oft indecisive lord had to move quickly to ensure the stability of his clan after his death. "Nevertheless, I can understand your admiration of her. What else do you know of her?" Hajime knew a fair amount from offhand rumors due to Ada's fame but Yui was by far the most reliable source at his disposal. "She met Sir Kenshin years ago when Kumoito was Kumogakure. They served on the police force together before fighting together in the UHV war. After that, she became one of the emperor's royal guard and eventually the captain. It is rumored that Emperor Shiro trusted her greatly. Then she retired from the royal guard and joined Arashigakure's police force as a lieutenant and that's how she reunited with Sir Kenshin. It's said that she's quite competent with jiton and puppetry. She owns a very successful technology company whose name escapes me. I imagine she's quite wealthy herself even beyond the Rio family's fortune. So she's wealthy, intelligent, and politically well-connected with many skills that could benefit the Hyuga in my estimation." There were some gaps in Yui's knowledge despite her weeks of sleuthing but she believed that she had a clearer picture of her. While her tone was acutely professional with her lord, there was a twinge of intense admiration. Ada was clearly a heroine of Yui's at this point. "Indeed, but what would she want from the Hyuga in return? As you know, our wealth and landholdings are not what they once were...before the wars. Our name remains proud because of our connection to the emperor, old from our history, and respected because of our excellence as warriors. But what restrains us from our traditional greatness in these times is our lack of material wealth. I agreed to this union because that may be restored." Hajime went on a monologue before he was stopped by a fit of bloody coughing into his handkerchief. "And because Sir Kenshin demanded it, yes?" It was clear to Yui that Kenshin and Ada must have made some sort of arrangement prior to the gala. Kenshin was not among the Rio's selected suitors at any point in the process until he was legitimized and recommended by Hajime. And since Kenshin and Ada were long-time friends it seemed sensible that this would be done. "Forgive me for speaking out of turn, m'lord." Yui bowed her head and apologized as Hajime's hardened expression trembled so much as he wiped his mouth. "You're forgiven. He was the only sensible remaining choice in my bloodline. The contingent that was critical of his legitimizing is far outnumbered by his supporters in the clan for one simple reason...the tenseigan. Being the first to awaken our equivalent of the Mangekyo Sharingan or even the Rinnegan is almost sacred among traditionalists. Kenshin reached enlightenment even before the emperor and I suppose we're all lucky that he carries himself with humility. His power has cast a long shadow that has overtaken his impure birth. I know many more useful alliances that we could have forged than the Rio but Kenshin wouldn't have accepted them." Hajime was a stubborn elder but no less practical in his approach. Forcing him to marry someone other than Ada would not have been worth risking his decline for legitimacy. And he was coming to see the powerful advantages in the union Kenshin chose. However, Hajime was still uncomfortable that the only bit of leverage he had in the upcoming negotiations with Lady Ada was that the Hyuga would allow the Rio to advance beyond minor noble status. Beyond that fact, Ada had far more to offer and ask of him in exchange leading to a less than ideal negotiation. "Alright, well, I must prepare the estate for their arrival." In response, Yui stood and bowed before leaving the room. She felt proud of advancing Kenshin and Ada's agenda to Hajime ahead of time.

The Morning Of: Arashigakure

Kenshin arrived at Ada's door early in the morning in Arashigakure with containers filled with breakfast food. He rang the doorbell three times in quick succession to indicate that it was him as was routine. If she answered the door and permitted his entry then he would step in, kiss her cheek, and place the breakfast he cooked twenty minutes prior on plates in the kitchen. He also had a pot of tea ready that he poured into a cup for Ada. It had been days since Kenshin last saw her as he spent all of his time in Kumoito tending to his clan duties while Hajime rested. He hoped that Hajime would be in better health today to meet with him and Ada. He returned to Arashigakure yesterday and heard word that Hajime's energy was improving. While he was in Kumoito, he heard rumors of Shojiro and Toru's arrest and was unable to stop thinking of Ada and her actions of justice. Every time he closed his eyes he could still see her and this instilled a deeper yearning in him. He turned around and left the plates and tea on the counter once they were settled. His eyes were overcome with admiration and desire as he approached Ada and fully reunited with her. He quickly picked her up before holding her tightly against his chest so that her legs would hug his torso. In this moment, his lips pressed passionately to hers multiple times between gasps of heat. He pinned her against the wall as he deepened his kiss for a long but indefinite period of time. His hands rested on her lower back as he held her steadily against him. He stopped kissing her to finally break the intimate silence and speak to her. "I missed you. I can't stop thinking of you." Kenshin spoke breathily before planting a kiss on her cheek and then three down her neck. He was completely possessed by intensely longing desire as his heavy breathing persisted. He then placed his mouth to her ear and kissed it before erotically biting it and whispering. "Tell me more. Tell me how you brought justice to Toru and Shojiro." Kenshin indicated what had gotten into him as days of Toru and Shojiro's arrest being the talk of the empire stirred intensely within him. The details from the rumors were maddening and he needed Ada to satisfy his desire. Kenshin retracted his mouth from her ear as he planted more kisses along her throat between his words of arousal. "I need you." The smitten man somehow managed to hold her body even tighter to his as he awaited her response and continued kissing the soft skin of her neck. His imagination ran wild with images of his woman bringing righteous forbearance to those noble bastards. He knew that there must be more to the story than she was willing to let on immediately after the gala. Kenshin maintained some form of restraint even as he erupted with unbridled lust. He did all in his power to satisfy his yearning for her without crossing the line but straddling that boundary was becoming maddening.

Personal Attributes
β–±β–°β–± Piercing Accuracy | The clansman is more proficient than his fellow clan members at striking tenketsu. One's gentle fist application allows them to reduce 1.5 times the amount of chakra spent in a juken strike instead of 1.25. For example, if one spends 100 chakra on a gentle fist technique, the attack robs the target of 150 instead of the 125 normal clansmen would reduce.
β–±β–°β–± Purest Lineage | The clansman's thoroughbred lineage allows them access to the Byakugan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation. In addition, should they unlock the Tenseigan, they may have 50% less reserves to maintain it than other clan members and may also activate the Tenseigan without the use of a hand seal, chakra cost, or activation.
β–±β–°β–± Physical Prowess | The Hyuga gains a [2] point increase in any stat after mastering stage 3 of the gentle fist and another [2] points after mastering stage 6 for a total of [4] rather than [2]. In addition, the Hyuga gains [3] custom slots to be used exclusively for the gentle fist style and [1] taijutsu style slot.
β–±β–°β–± Genetic Palette | With intensive genetic therapy and strong blood, this character is able to possess more than one transplant. This allows the character up to two transplants total, of any of the three categories.
β–±β–°β–± Thundering Justice | Lightning-based techniques used by the Hatake are granted a concussive blast in the form of a sonic boom upon impact. This concussive blast has a range of five feet per rank of the parent technique. Those within the area of the blast have a knock-back effect applied if their body rank is lower than the parent technique. In addition, deafness is applied upon impact for two posts.
β–±β–°β–± Tsunami of Justice | Kenshin gains access to the water element.
β–±β–°β–± Ionic Blade | The user's bukijutsu and basic combat weapon strikes may be made complex to add their lightning element to the attacks. This causes tiered paralysis on contact equal to the rank of the technique it is paired with.
β–±β–°β–± Blessings of Valor | As a world-famous hero, you are forever bestowed with an extra reward in arc, timeskip, and guildwide events.
β–±β–°β–± Short-Circuiting Juken | For an additional amount of chakra that is half of the amount spent for the original technique, Hatake chidori raiton can be applied to complex juken techniques to inject the enemy's body with lightning. The Hatake's chidori raiton inflicts a tier of full-body paralysis that is equivalent to the technique's rank up to the second tier. This paralysis lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts. Applying Chidori chakra to the Juken consumes a second offensive activation.
β–±β–°β–± Storm Sage | Lightning techniques cast while in sage mode and when enhanced by nature chakra burn brighter and inflict a tier of blindness that is equivalent to the technique's rank. This blindness lasts for two posts per rank of the technique at a maximum of six posts.
β–±β–°β–± Stern Spirit | Reiken no Michi virtue states cost one rank less in stamina to activate and maintain. The stamina cost of the virtue states cannot be reduced beyond this.
β–±β–°β–± Raijin Drum | While in human sage mode, Kenshin is able to self-korabo one lightning technique, one wind technique, and one water technique into one three-times powerful truth-seeking orb. This consumes the chakra of the three techniques on his nature chakra reserves but only one offensive action. This can only occur once for every three posts.
β–±β–°β–± Conduction Mastery | Kenshin is able to self-korabo his lightning and water techniques more efficiently by paying 10 less chakra when one raiton and one suiton are combined.

Weapon Specs
β–° Weapon Name: Getsuruitō
β–° Weapon Type: Katana & Rapier [ Reiken Spirit Sword ]
β–° Weapon Size: 38 Inches Total | 30 Inch Blade | 8 Inch Hilt
β–° Style Categorization: Medium Sword
β–° Weapon Weight: 3 lbs
β–° Stat Increase: +2 Speed

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity. The original form of the sword is a steel and dark blue katana with a bronze crossguard and dragonhead handle. It also has a rapier form that was refined from Purity and is entirely constructed from steel with a dark blue handle and basket hilt. The katana and rapier forms are the same size and constructed of the same materials. Getsuruito was considered a legendary artifact by the people of Seizan as it was wielded by an ancient general. When the rusted blade was awarded by the locals to Kenshin Kosei he discovered that it had the unique ability to merge with and empower one other weapon. When the katana was reworked to its fullest potential it had the abilities of his own weapon in addition to incredible lightning abilities.
β–° Ability Summary:
Righteous Sword of the Sentinel [ Senchineru no Seigi no Ken ] | Rank E | Bloodline | Spiritual
All forms of Hyuuga techniques including the gentle fist can be used through the sword for the 10 posts that this technique is active. This means that strikes involving the blade cause physical damage including stab wounds as well as seal tenketsu points and any other effects of the technique used through the sword. An additional 5 chakra can be applied to the blade to prevent it from causing physical damage from thrusting but instead seal tenketsu points and inflict pain similar to a stab wound in the area struck but slashing attacks can still cause damage. Half the resource cost of techniques from the rapier style of Sen Gekiretsu Nagareboshi applied allows the technique to carry the tenketsu sealing effects of a same-rank palm strike such as a B-Rank carrying 64 Palms effects. Getsuruito must be in its rapier form to use this ability and 5 chakra can be spent upon activation of this technique to transform it as such. The Righteous Sword of the Sentinel technique has a 10 post duration before necessitating re-activation and costs an E-Rank amount of chakra. The initial activation of this technique consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not.

Smiting Blade of the Night Watch [ Naitō Otchi no SumittinguburΔ“do ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Spiritual
When this technique is activated it crackles violently with night blue lightning for the entire duration. The electricity from the blade also forms bolts of lightning over the body of the user and appears to supercharge them. Whenever the blade is swung or thrust over the duration the user can fire a concentrated blast of ten bolts of lightning to accompany the strike equal to the rank applied but for only half the cost to initiate the technique. Hatake, Raiu, and Sage enhanced lightning can pass through the blade and apply to these lightning bolts. The bolts cause a thunderously deafening sonic boom and can inflict tier 2 burns upon direct contact with the lightning. Additionally, these lightning bolts can be freely applied to all complex bukijutsu for no action cost to smite enemies. The only action cost is when the technique is activated and all subsidiary abilities of the technique do not consume actions and only chakra. This ability can be used in both forms of Getsuruito.

Draconic Sabre of Moon Sundering [ Getsu Sandaringu no Dorakonikku Seibā ] | Rank X | Bukijutsu [ Lightning ] | Complex
This is the original ability of the ancient Getsuruito blade and thus requires the original katana form. 5 chakra can be spent to transform the blade to its original form upon activation of this technique. Crackling and thunderous dark blue lightning can be applied to the katana's edge at any rank and the same lightning can form a dragon head formed from electricity over the body of the user for 10 posts. This allows all spiritual techniques the sword comes into contact with to be slashed through and even cut in half at the same rank despite the complex nature of the technique. For half of the original cost to activate the technique a same-rank spiritual electrical energy slash can be sent out from the slash of the blade. This same cost can be applied to any complex bukijutsu to achieve the same effect. The original 10 post activation of this ability consumes an action but all subsidiary abilities do not.

Two Days After the Rio Gala: Azayaka Inc (Corperate Suite)

__ The cloudy haze rolled over the flying community of Arashigakure and Ada quietly studied it from the top floor of her research and development complex. It felt like time had nearly slowed entirely since that night. Everything still felt so vivid and pressing. Her transition to leadership had all but been prepared beforehand thanks to Shojiro's self-destructive initiatives. Thanks to that, Ada was able to leave investigations regarding the recent theft here in her company to X while she leaned into her new responsibilities. 'I hope Kenshin has been doing well.' She was certain that he was locked into assuming his own duties. His transition from a career as the first Arashigakure police captain was wise on his part. Likewise, Ada was considering her own retirement from the force. 'For now, I'd like to just keep working with young Zeshin. He shows a lot of promise. I'll have to talk to Captain Kojiro soon too. Ahh... if I have time.' Ada could tell she was spreading herself thin. If it weren't for the distinguished organization of her companies, she couldn't have hoped to come this far. Likewise, the loyal support of her friends, comrades, employees and now her family were helping like a sort of adhesive for her life.

X's voice broke her wandering thoughts and sightseeing of Arashi's market district from the intercom over on her desk. "Miss Miyamoto and Mister Nara have arrived, Miss Rio." Ada responded, "Send them in, please." She hurriedly shuffled past her desk to meet her dear friends- precious proteges. The last she saw them was just before the gala while they were in recovery. Selina's incredible talent with healing arts left them with no physical scars, and her skill with Miyamoto arts certainly aided in the therapy sessions. For the first time, she'd get to see them up and on their feet since the Antioch Case's conclusion. One of the double doors to the office flew open and Yarugi was the first to enter, "We're home..." His announcement was drained away into a lazy yawn with one hand in his pocked while the other rubbed the back of his head. "Yarugi!" Vala quickly caught the door before it would hit anything, already growling under her breath at her peer. "Welcome back, both of you. I'm truly glad to see you are both in good health." Ada said as she stopped toward the center of the suite. She bowed her head to complete her greeting and as a show of her relief. Yarugi paused, apparently surprised by Ada's sincerity then he lowered the hand he was running through his hair to respond with a lower bow. Vala caught up to Yarugi and joined in with his bow before saying, "Ada-sensei, thank you. I know you footed all the billing." Yarugi scoffed, "Pfft... don't you mean I told you what was going on while you were busy screaming in your sleep?" Ada's expression saddened at the thought of such things. She recalled her own occasional recurring nightmares of the UHV War, and of fighting off Sandayu's creations from the Empire's lands. "Seriously?!" Vala howled, bringing a fist against Yarugi's kidney while he was too busy being too cool to look anyone in the eyes. "Urk!" Yarugi grunted at the brief spike of pain in his side then shrugged it off with a cough.

More attentively now, Yarugi looked over Ada who had already lost herself in shallow thoughts. He exchanged a glance with Vala and shrugged. Vala replied to this with a nod and she'd say to their teacher, "Sensei, you seem to have more on your mind than usual. Are you okay?" Ada remembered that she hadn't kept either of them in the loop about the heist, rescuing her blood relations from her adoptive family or even about her engagement to Kenshin. She returned to attention and offered them a reassuring smile, "Yes, in fact I think things are better than ever." For what mattered most, this was true and she meant it with full faith in the future; however, that optimism was not without pairing to a shroud of doubts and fears for various other adjacent matters. Vala smiled, "That's a relief. X seemed really invested in something when we saw him on the lower floor. I was a little worried, to be honest." Yarugi yawned again, letting that gesture be his only warning to his dislike for beating around the bush. Ada didn't necessarily pick up on that cue, but she would respond to Vala all the same, "Yes... Azayaka was raided the same day we defeated Antioch. Things have mostly returned to normal here since, with an obvious tightening of our security." Vala gasped, "Oh no! Was anyone hurt? Or stolen? I hope-" "Ugh! Sensei, we heard a rumor that you've been shagging with the cap'n. Didn't see it coming from you, and it's even harder to believe the ol' stone-faced sentinel is much of a lover. What's the deal?" Vala's jaw dropped. Likewise, Ada was astonished by Yarugi's blatant crudeness. "How rude, Yarugi! Apologize!" Her hand hovered over the handle of the sword sheathed at her hip. "You have no right to talk about others' relationships. Show some decency!" Yarugi just grew a mischievous smile and looked over to Vala, "That wasn't what you were asking me to show you earlier. I just wanna know what kinks that blowhard has been-." Vala's face became deeply reddened from embarrassment and she started to draw her sword on Yarugi, "Shameless!" However, before the blade could leave its sheath it was bound to a magnetic force. Vala looked down to realize she couldn't unsheathe her blade, momentarily wondering why. Yarugi figured it out, though. He turned back toward their teacher, but jumped a little when she was standing well within arm's reach of him. Before he looked directly at her again, he almost thought he was going to get off easy again, but the look in Ada's eyes alerted him to just how thin the ice really was. Ada smiled at the pair, ever so slightly, but mostly focused on Yarugi. "Yarugi, Vala is right. Also, I don't mind if you two are going to be... involved, but be tactful about it." She kept smiling at Yarugi with a strong threatening undertone until he nodded in consent to her words. Vala interjected, 'It was a mistake! Never again! Shameless beast!" Yarugi broke eye contact and mumbled while Vala was ranting, "More hypocrisy." While Vala certainly didn't hear it, Ada's trained ears had picked upon a sort of lingering dissatisfaction.

She sighed. "I did want to consult the two of you about Kenshin and I anyway. So, if you must know, Yarugi, Kenshin is actually quite..." She again remembered making out on the grass under the full moon then finished her statement, "... a romantic. In the same way that you deflect others with your morbid humor, he has his own reasons for the ways he does things. Try to keep an open mind?" Ada brushed her hair back behind her left shoulder where it had fallen out of place then stepped back to give her students some breathing room again. Yarugi frowned, accepting his defeat now that his own habits were being put in the cross-hairs. "Alright alright. Fine. He's probably not a bad lover. Won't say I didn't notice something between you two for the last few years. Also wasn't surprised nothing came of it. Damn workaholics..." He had to get that jab in to make himself feel better about his teacher's call-out. Vala noticed that she was falling behind in the conversational shift so she'd say, "Yarugi is right about that, sensei. I wondered for a while if anything might be something between you and the Captain, but didn't feel it was my place to ask about it. I feel like I still have to see it to really believe it, but I'm sure you two are really good for each other!" Yarugi got another slight smirk as he looked away out of another large window, "So. How far have you and the boss gotten?" Ada found herself smiling and nodding along with their comments until Yarugi's last question. Again, Vala felt her defensiveness toward their teacher well up but before she could say anything Ada said, "Kenshin intends to pass the torch on to Kojiro, specifically because we agreed on the unprofessional nature of our relations in the workplace." Yarugi whistled with surprise, "No kidding? The guy threw away his career to be with you? Color me impressed." Ada shook her head, "Not exactly. He traded those responsibliities for a far more challenging role as the heir to the Imperial Lightning Hyuga clan's throne. And... I've been named the head of the Rio nobility by Shojiro." Vala's heart sank and it showed on her expression.

She was an adamant supporter of Ada's independence from her terrible adoptive family, so only getting chunks of this picture literally scared her. "But sensei! What happened?!" "C'mon Vala, she shouldn't have to spell everything out for us. Money is on her getting married off to Kenshin since he's so important and all. Probably more so if he's basically like some kind of prince now. Sounds like it's been a helluva week, sensei." Yarugi twisted a clump of hair between his fingers, staring up past his forehead while he finished his surprisingly astute assessment of the situation. Vala looked to him then back to Ada for confirmation. "Correct. We are engaged now. It is very likely that we won't remain in Arashigakure for much longer as a result. Until we finish your training, I ask that you remain with me, but it is your choice how to proceed." Her regret for letting them fall to Antioch's trap surfaced as she offered them a way out if they wanted it now. Yarugi clicked his tongue and stopped playing with his hair, "Tch! Seriously? Sensei? You think we follow a strong, smart and creative woman like you just to dip as soon as things get ugly?" Ada expected such a voice of loyalty from Vala, perhaps, but Yarugi yet again surprised her this afternoon. Vala chimed in, "It's creepy how right he's been in the last ten minutes. Anyway! We promise to continue to follow your lead. We want to learn from you and help you however we can, sensei." She offered Ada deep, revering bow and Yarugi actually joined in for it. Ada cupped her hands over her mouth and fought back some tears as another wave of relief was broken by such kindness. "Thank you. Both of you. I'll do my best." The Nara rolled his eyes then stood upright, "Don't you always, Perfectionist-sensei? Haha! It's all fine." Vala stood up too then gave a brief applause. "I'm so happy for you, sensei!" Whimsically, Vala just lunged forward and gave Ada a congratulatory hug. Ada chuckled and hugged Vala back. "Thanks, really. The future is looking brighter..." While she did still worry about the whereabouts of Zero and the mysterious raiders that stole him, she knew she could rely on X to find the answers to the questions she had about that. In the meantime, she could probably afford to just be happy for once. The three would spend the rest of the day catching up and talking about the future until Kenshin arrived for their last meal together for what would unfortunately a while.

Present: Ada's Home (Arashigakure)

__ Ada's day began earlier than even her usual routines. The last week had been quite eventful. While in the shower she reviewed her progress and recalled what still remained to be addressed. The Rio family was surprisingly compliant, mostly thanks to Hirika's reasonably conditional support. 'I'm confident that in time the rest of the family outside of Hirika and her children may also come to appreciate this transition of leadership.' Dissenters with any lingering relations to the Rio family had their investigations expedited as well as those who attempted to quickly sever ties. Her will for justice against those that rotted away the Empire from within would not escape easily. Ada was intent to systematically, efficiently, and thoroughly seek out the dangers to her family and the rest of the Empire. Meeting the Kyuri's was also quite a few turns of the wrench against her heart, and she was so glad for overcoming that anxiety-inducing trial too. Her parents were healthy and expressly proud of her. Mikumi, her sister, was an uncanny type of young lady. Perhaps it was just good genes, but Mikumi had a pure sort of insight and curiosity that could prove very valuable to her future now that so many resources were made available. 'Mikumi seemed quite fond of the library.' Ada chuckled to herself as she continued through the motions of cleansing herself for the day ahead. 'Still... I would not have expected that revelation from our mother. The Mahofu, huh? I can't say I'm even remotely familiar with the clan; however, I will clear Kaede's name one day. Hopefully I can also establish friendly relations with the isolated samurai in the Land of Iron.' Ada sighed heavily as she added another large goal to her list. "One step at a time, Ada." She reminded herself as she stepped out of the shower to focus on the present before worrying more about the future. In fact, she smiled as she quietly celebrated the very future she was actually hopeful for with Kenshin.

Ada stepped away from the showering area of the bathing room and wrapped a towel around herself. "X, Kenshin should be arriving soon. Do let me know when-" Her request was interrupted with an urgent alert from the very android she was addressing over the intercoms in the house, "Sir Kenshin is approaching now, m'lady." A holographic image of Kenshin nearing her house was briefly displayed in the bathroom for her to verify. "Wonderful. He's also early." Ada's pace suddenly peaked as scrambled into action, now silently cursing herself for taking too long in the shower. She didn't fault his punctuality at all. In fact, she would always appreciate that about Kenshin. The bell would ring shortly after this and Ada hurried to the door before X could offer to assist. Her hair was pinned up off of her shoulders and shower dew dropped down along that of her fair skin. The ivory-colored towel wrapped to cover around her chest down to her upper thighs left little to the imagination, but it was more decent than to be without. The flustered woman knew she could dress herself near-instantly thanks to her tailoring talents and through the use of jiton, but it just didn't register to be as much of a priority at the moment. The door was unlocked then pulled agape for Kenshin to enter. "Kenshin, darling." Ada offered him a loving smile as she used her free hand to keep the towel adequately tucked into itself to keep covered, "Good morning! Please, come in." She stood aside, partially behind the door as he would step through. His lips against her cheek caused her to blush slightly, appreciative of the affectionate gesture first thing in the morning. She closed the door behind them and started to follow Kenshin around to the kitchen. As she entered the room she was suddenly lifted and embraced with the topping of a much more passionate kiss. "Oh!" She gasped out of surprise at first but was quickly drawn into the amorousness of her usually stone-faced fiance. Ada did her best to keep up with his lustful advances while her attention on keeping the towel on her waned. "Mmmn." She hummed excitedly as they ventured into passion. Her mind was quickly growing fuzzy as she was pressed against the wall as they continued to kiss. She could only catch her breath while Kenshin spoke of missing her, as if this much hadn't already made his longing plenty clear. Ada looked down at him from where she was held up to upon hearing his request; admittedly, the thought of the disguisting pig or her self-destructive father were quite the turn-offs. She was proud of her work and that her effort made such a difference in her own life and the Empire. "I... ahh..." However, she hardly had time to consider such lowlifes as he then started making his way down the side of her neck with such gentle kisses. The towel was certainly slipping, just as her mind was leaning away from rationality. "Ken... I missed you too." Ada sighed his name as she kissed Kenshin's forehead in response and pulled him closer with her arms and legs as they remained embraced.

A rhythmic whirring and the soft thudding of metallic footfalls neared the kitchen scene. X entered the room from the same path as Ada with neatly folded clothes available for dispensing. Of course, Kenshin and Ada were off to the side against a wall, so the android simply turned about to face them and held out the prepared pair of outfits- one for the morning and one for the meeting. "I took the liberty of readying your attire for your audience with Lord Hajime today, Lady Ada." Ada had been so engrossed in Kenshin that she didn't actually notice the android's approach. "X! Uh no! I mean... thank you!" She jumped in Kenshin's grasp, freeing herself just enough to stand on her own again, still between him and the wall for a moment. Ada reached out and accepted the garments, realizing just in time that her towel was in need of further adjusting. "I apologize, Kenshin. He doesn't know any better." She finished her towel adjustments as she slipped away from her fiance. X blinked, now showing a bit of doubt as he began to read the situation a bit better. "I also apologize. Excuse me." He offered a low, apologetic bow to the betrothed pair and departed to elsewhere in the house. Ada glanced over her right shoulder at Kenshin as she brushed some of her fallen, still-wet hair back behind her left ear. She smiled brightly and assured him, "There will be certainly time for us to pick back up on that later. Please finish setting the table and I'll finish getting dressed." Ada nodded to dismiss herself for a little bit so she could catch up with the morning. Her heart was still thudding in her chest and her body felt very warm even to her own touch. "That man..." She sighed with a lingering rosiness to her cheeks. 'Perhaps this is what they mean by being drunk on love?' Ada finished thinking this as she adorned the last piece of the morning dress. She returned to the dining room where Kenshin was surely waiting after only applying a little makeup for now. "What a lovely aroma. Your cooking skills keep improving, aren't they?" Ada tried to return to a modicum of casualness before they sat to eat together again after so long. "I hope Yui hasn't overburdened you in your lessons?" She asked as she seated herself. As they partook in Kenshin's home cooking Ada revisited a previous topic. She'd dab her mouth clear and state, "I'd almost forgotten that my reports won't reach your desk anymore, Captain." Ada winked upon uttering his retired title and continued, "Toru Kanda and Shojiro Rio are only a few who have been arrested for a number of charges for unlawfulness. As you may have heard, I am overseeing the operation with his Highness' graces to weed out the Empire's undesirables." She had mostly finished her breakfast by the time she revisited this topic brought up by her fiance. Given the context, she was a little satisfied that just her work was enough to draw such attention from her man. They could work on their bedroom talk another time, of course. Ada sipped at her tea for the moment.

β–±β–°β–±It was unusual for Kenshin to see Ada presented in any way other than in her pristine makeup and attire. But it was pleasantly so as he remembered that this was a side of her that he was sure to see much of in their upcoming union. He supposed that he arrived earlier than he thought. His lips pressed against her still-damp cheek from bathing yet only inspired his deeper desire. When he locked his lips with her's and pinned her to the wall he felt unable to stop himself. He was drawn into a whirlpool of desire that seemed impossible to be shaken from. Her surprise, as well as her reciprocation of his affection, was able to partially satiate his need to be with her after days of separation. The kiss planted on his forehead and her statement that she missed him too was sweetly intoxicating. No one had ever held the stoic man so tightly before or any statement that was even close to longing for his presence.

Kenshin increased the intensity of his kissing in response to her doing so. So much so that he too neglected to notice the entrance of the android. When she wanted to be released from his embrace he took a couple of steps back and allowed her to slowly slide down and touch the floor. When she adjusted her towel he noticed that he had just seen far more of her body than he ever had before. He looked away from her and X as his carmine face heated up further in embarrassment. "N-no, sorry." Kenshin stuttered out awkwardly as he felt reality come crashing down on him all at once. This all truly was far too much for him to handle as he tried to regain his composure. He offered a sharp leveling from his eyes at X as he felt the frustration consume his thoughts. Damn robot. His tongue felt like it was five hundred pounds as his throat closed up when Ada offered him a sideways glance and requested that he set the table. All he could do was nod but realized that him looking flustered probably just came off as angry. Kenshin briefly excused himself to a half bathroom down the hall from the kitchen. He stared at himself in the mirror before turning on the fosset and splashing cold water in his face forcefully. Kenshin then dried his face with a hand towel before staring at the mirror again and inhaling deeply. "That woman..." He desperately sighed to himself as he watched the small remnant drops of water flow off of his jawline. Kenshin then sharply turned around and stomped back into the kitchen to set the hot breakfast on plates. Earlier in the morning he extensively prepared eggs benedict on English muffins with eggs, ham, and hollandaise sauce. Once the breakfast was prepared he prepared the dining room table with the plates and cutlery. Kenshin did not begin eating until she arrived but immediately dug in so as to dismiss the morning rumbling of his stomach.

He was still processing what had just transpired and while Ada seemed to take it in her graceful stride, he needed some more time to think. Kenshin still felt pangs of guilt for his behavior for a multitude of reasons. It seemed that Ada was the only person who could ever make the man lose his poise, especially in such a dramatic fashion. He felt so flawed compared to Ada and worried that his tendency to become possessed by his emotions might be influencing her poorly as well. Ada seemed to be in good spirits and he was glad that was appreciated the smell of their breakfast. "Yui's doing her duty." Kenshin responded to her curtly despite being charmed by Ada's radiant presence as usual. "I know, the court's filled with gossip of what's happening to Shojiro and Kanda. It was...on my mind." Kenshin grumbled into his breakfast plate before picking up his strong cup of coffee and gulping it down. Once the coffee began kicking in he was able to loosen the tension slightly. With his breakfast finished, he looked up at Ada with and freely stated what he felt needed to be said. "I'm sorry about what happened. I shouldn't start what I can't finish and tempt you. That's unfair." Kenshin realized that he was the one explicitly placing the marriage restraint on them while also initiating high levels of arousal. It was then that he internally pardoned X as it turned out that his intervention stopped him from crossing the line. Kenshin would accept full responsibility for nearly going too far before their vows. He reached across the table and grabbed her hand after placing down his fork on his empty plate. "Ada, I feel actual, physical pain whenever I'm away from you. I'm tired of leaving you every day. I just want to embrace you and your goodness until I die. I'll try to be more tempered until it's time." Kenshin spoke intensely as he stared into the eyes of the love of his life. He recognized that this was probably a bit too much over breakfast but he needed to get this off his chest quickly after what happened.

Kenshin would release her hand after listening to her response before standing. He then walked to his duffle bag and retrieved an office binder filled with papers before returning to the kitchen table. He would place it in front of Ada and open it to schematics for the fortress they were discussing before he left to attend the Hyuga court in his grandfather's stead. "I've begun working on plans with a Kumoito architect on that fort." The papers included a prominent early-concept sketch of a massive tower on the mountainous border west of Kumoito. The other pages in the binder were financial statements and other information that they would present to Hajime. He took her empty plate and his and let her pour over the binder's contents before taking the dishes to the kitchen. "Hajime hasn't seen any of this yet. I've been preparing our materials for the meeting. You're free to add more." Kenshin stated dryly before turning on the kitchen sink and washing the dishes. Once the dishes were done he walked back into the dining room. "Everything we discussed from the wedding to the dowry to the fortress to our strategies for governing our clans is in there. But there are a few more matters of discussion that have occurred to me." What Kenshin was getting at were personal items that were not deductible to numbers or materials in the way that their wedding, home, finances, and future clan policies were. "Hajime will ask if we plan to have children. There's already pressure about this in the clan and it's going to get worse after the wedding. I don't want you to feel that pressure if you don't want to or aren't ready to get pregnant." The Hyuga prince already felt his face heat up as sexual tension mounted in the room. Sex was a highly taboo subject for the restrained man of modesty. And yet it was the foundational topic for having children for obvious biological reasons and it was a source of tension in the relationship for the many unanswered questions he held. "And I've never...done that. Have you?" He now raised one such question, perhaps the central question, that he had never brought up to her prior. Kenshin cleared his throat to help ease the uncertainty of his question after subtly revealing his virginity status. Just as he did so, he saw the carriage pull up outside through the front window. Why Hajime insisted that they travel like this when they could just use body flicker as he suggested was beyond the practical man's comprehension. "We'll arrive in Kumoito to meet with Hajime before noon and will leave in the afternoon to meet with Empress Unki about the wedding." Kenshin recapped before nonverbally signaling that it was time to leave soon by pointing at the window. He would be ready to depart once their conversation was completed.

__ Ada wiped any crumbs from her mouth with a napkin, noting the curtness in Kenshin's reply about Yui. She nodded, unsurprised that the courts were abuzz with the ongoing inquisition. In fact, it worked to the operation's benefit that they were alert to it. It made many of them unknowingly closer to the situation and more likely to reveal their misdeeds and foul secrets. In time, the Lightning Empire would turn over a new leaf toward a path of honor and righteousness where justice was commonplace. Of course, Ada was realistic enough to know just how unattainable goal was despite its worthiness. Her thoughts were drawn away from business and back to Kenshin when he suddenly apologized to her. She finished a sip of her tea and sat upright when her hand was clutched by her love with such deep guilt in his eyes. She smiled and held his hand as it held hers, then placed her free hand over his, "Kenshin, I treasure our time spent together, now more than ever before. I may show more restraint, but that does not mean I desire you any less. Your... ahem... teasing, if you will, simply deepens my longing for when we can finally be as we want together- free." Ada nodded as a gesture of assurance in the faith behind her words. Behind the role as her husband was a meaning exclusive to Ada alone. Kenshin was her liberator. Her love for him was just empowered by the simple fact that he was there for her at a time in her life where she needed him most. The fact that Kenshin was the kind of man that he was only grew her confidence in their matrimony. "Alas, you are right. We must be patient and show more restraint." Ada wouldn't deny the value of Kenshin's inflection. It was just another notch in the memories she could cherish with him.

Ada let go of Kenshin's hand as he stood from the table. Her eyes followed him as she took another sip of her tea. The corners of her mouth and brows showed a small bit of excitement as he approached with schematics. The creative little gearhead he was marrying had a fair amount of options in mind that she wouldn't mind discussing. After swallowing the fluid she accepted the binder and began to flip through it. "Fantastic! I'm ready to start divert resources to this as soon as we need." Mostly, her expression was akin to that of a child happily opening wrapped gifts. Much of the designs they already discussed were present in these drafts, with some added insight from the hired architect. "These look wonderful, darling. I do have a few adjustments to suggest, but I am confident that they'll be worthwhile." Ada had her own disagreements about a few details; however, it was nothing that couldn't be rectified with her input. She raised her left hand and a pen flew through the home in a blur before ending in her timely grip. "Is that so...?" She hummed in response to the new matters for them to talk over as she started working in the binder. Her marks ended halfway through when he somewhat awkwardly brought up the matter of having children. She looked over and smiled to him when he showed concern for her opinion on the matter. Ada shook her head to each side then answered, "I was a daring girl in my youth, but my duty to the Rio family always came before my feelings or impulses." Ada set her pen down upon the binder, stood up, and approached Kenshin. Her right hand was raised then gently pressed her palm against his left cheek. "I am also a virgin, but I am inclined to believe you know what to do better than you give yourself credit. Ken, be confident in yourself and you'll have nothing to regret." She kissed him on the other cheek, purposefully avoiding his lips to deny another slip of their judgment for X to ruin. She retreated with a smile back toward the binder and ran her fingertips along its surface. "That said, of course, I would be deeply honored to bear your children." She looked to him again after leaving her gaze from the schematics for their plans of sanctuary. "As I know you will, I will do anything for us. Our families and nation are undeniably of critical importance, but I trust that we will always put each other first. We've already given so much of ourselves to the world, so it is only fair that we may choose our path." She sighed, relieved to find the words she wanted to say. Ada grew a slight bit of playfulness behind a soft chuckle and ensuing smirk, "If anything, it would just be cruel of you to deny me a child after I went through all the trouble to make you my husband." There was taunting tone of haughtiness as she shrugged off the thought of such a trophy wife role. Ada followed Kenshin's eyes toward the window outside with a royal Hyuuga carriage on display. Her left hand was brushed along the front of herself from the bottom of the dress to the top as alloyed metal dust were woven into more fibers and their overall design replaced. Her dress changed before Kenshin's very eyes with a simple wave of her hand. Her impeccable memory still serving to her benefit in the art of tailoring as well as any of her other crafting talents. "Then let us not keep them waiting, darling. I am eager to impress." She retrieved the binder from table and would follow him out to the carriage. X would return to headquarters to continue his investigations for the rest of the day. Vala and Yarugi were on their own assignments as well.

β–±β–°β–±Relief instantly washed away Kenshin's guilt and anxiety when Ada grabbed his hand and reassured him. He silently hoped that she knew how much emotional stability she brought to him in the way that she expressed him doing so for her. When Kenshin returned with the binder he could not help but stare at her expressions as he cleaned and dried the dishes. It was immensely pleasant for him to see her adorable excitement over the schematics. It was somewhat expected but a great sight nonetheless. "I know you do. It's just a rough draft for now." Kenshin stated with a soft smile at his wife's declaration that she had more ideas to add. He was mildly startled when a metal pen flew over his shoulder before ending its flight in Ada's grasp. She only put it down when he brought up the major personal matter to discuss. He looked up to her with an adoring gaze and shook as she kissed him on his cheeks. More reassurance consumed him when she confirmed her own virginity status. It was impressive to him that such a fervently desired and charming young woman was able to remain chaste. He nodded gently as his smile genuinely grew. He even lightly laughed at her joke about how much trouble she went through. It was transparent that Kenshin was absolutely charmed by her presence. "I'll have to start work on that urgently." Kenshin playfully returned her jest by stating his intention to give his wife a child once they were married. He detected her playfully proud humor and was now comfortable enough with her to play along. This was a side of him that he had reserved for her and no one else. It was rare for Kenshin to feel such ease with another person to express any kind of witty retort or humor anyway. It was not comfortable for him but he knew that she would appreciate him expressing levity at the appropriate times. Kenshin watched her change into a much more elegant day dress instantly as he stood up and walked in front of her. He wrapped her arms around the small of her back, picked her up, and twirled her allowing her dress to swirl elegantly. This was reminiscent to him of the very first time that he twirled her before the Kogarashi battle and the second time when they danced at the gala. The warmth of this memory soothed him with genuine happiness. When he placed her down again he smiled into a full but brief kiss. "I'm the luckiest man on Earth. I've got no doubt you'll impress." Kenshin spoke with assured confidence in his soon-to-be spouse. He then picked up his duffle bag but would leave the binder and pen with Ada for her to examine and write in during the carriage ride. He slung the day bag over his shoulder before taking Ada's arm with his free arm. When he walked out of the house his smile disappeared into his characteristic sternness. He would face the world with his partner with absolute dignity but allow himself to rest when secluded with her.

The gentleman helped Ada into the carriage before entering himself as the driver collected his bag. Ada would keep the binder with her in the cart for more adjustment. Once they were taken away it was not long before the carriage dropped them off at the Aether Leyline. When they were lowered back to the earth another carriage was waiting for them. It all seemed excessive to him but he followed his grandfather's protocol without outwardly questioning it. He performed the same procedure by taking her to the larger travel carriage. Once they were settled inside Kenshin wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in close as he looked over her shoulder at their home's schematics. "These schematics are like reading a foreign language for me. How'd you get so competent with technology on top of your other duties?" Kenshin asked with curiosity and admiration as the carriage trotted along toward the Land of Lightning from Arashigakure's aerial parking spot over the Land of Fire. "And why haven't you given me a tour of Azayaka yet? I'm sure it's astonishing." Kenshin asked sternly but playfully as he understood that the opportunity for that did not arise yet. Nonetheless, he wanted Ada to know that he took an interest in her other work and hobbies even if he did not fully understand them. "Since my resignation I've had excessive free time to devote to foil dueling. I've learned that this is a common sport among noblemen. Perhaps I could use this to develop further imperial alliances?" Kenshin was silently concerned about his swordsmanship skills being far more advanced and that this might sow more resentment than allegiance but that was a part of the fun. "When I resigned, Toso asked me about heirs. The gender of the heir is less important to me than displayed competence over time. But I've only thought of names for boys. I've learned from Hajime about Hideohito Hyuga, my third great-grandfather, who was a great hero. I think just Hideo would suffice as a namesake without being exactly the same. I've also always liked the name Takahiro. Have you thought of names before?" He took the topic seriously but at the moment he was just bouncing off his ideas. Perhaps she gave some thought to girl names which would be helpful as well. The carriage would swiftly cross over the mountainous road from the Frost Country over the border into the Lightning Country. As they approached the tunnel Kenshin pointed up at the top of the mountain. "That's where the fort is going so that it can block access to invaders through this road. This is the only road accessible for large military forces into and out of the Lightning Country peninsula." Kenshin recapped what they discussed for the fortress earlier as they passed under it. As they were going through the tunnel Kenshin turned his attention back to Ada. "Would Pale Citadel be a good name for it?" The name had just occurred to him in a moment of inspiration as he imagined the tower on that mountain in his mind's eye. They were now passing through the western territories in the Land of Lightning. "We'll likely be governing at least some of this. Fortunately, I think that we'll be able to maintain our ties to Seizan." Kenshin spoke as they passed through the Nohara region to the west of Kumoito. Eventually, they would enter the gates and approach the capital district.

The chatting of the betrothed would come to a halt upon their arrival outside of the Harehoru Estate in Kumoito. The large and proud manor stood tall in the capital district of the imperial city as Hyuga guards announced their arrival with brass instruments. Yui Nakamura waited for them at the front entrance as Kenshin stepped out of the carriage and proudly took Ada's arm in his once again. When they approached, she would perform an expertly low curtsy before welcoming them inside. Once they stepped in they were led to the foyer outside of the throne room. "Welcome, welcome! Lord Hajime and Lady Ichika Hyuga will be in there when the doors open." Yui offered a charming smile but had a difficult time maintaining her composure around Ada. She used the backdoor to enter the throne room before coming out again to give them an estimated time for entry. "They need a few more minutes." Yui said with a chipper smile before dropping her prim and proper composure to give Ada a soft hug. "It's so amazing to meet you, Lady Ada! Your speech at the gala was marvelous!" Yui separated from her gentle hug and stared at the amazing woman with admiration of her heroine. "I'm Sir Kenshin's attendant, Yui Nakamura, that's why I was in attendance." Yui's face was beaming with energy and excitement as she fawned over Ada. Kenshin quietly nodded as Yui melted before his partner but he understood why a young lady would admire her as such. After they chatted, the doors would slowly slide open and present Hajime Hyuga seated on his throne.

Once the doors open, Kenshin stood at Ada's side and walked in before taking a knee before his grandfather's seat. The frail elder sat with distinguished posture and a wrinkled lip upon his stone visage. Seated next to him was a much younger but still older lady. She smiled almost as brightly as Yui did at the younger pair of upstart Hyuga nobles. "Rise." Hajime stated sternly as he looked down at them before waving his hand for them to stand. Kenshin followed suit before the lady spoke up. "We're simply delighted to meet you, Lady Ada. I must say, I've heard tales of your great beauty, but to see it for myself is a distinct privilege. I'm Lady Ichika Hyuga." The lady greeted the couple warmly and made the whole interaction much more personable. Hajime merely nodded in agreement as he cleared his throat. He glanced over sternly at Ichika before she stood and approached Ada. The elder lady took Ada's arm in her's before walking with her. "Come along dear, let's give the men the room and we'll reconvene soon. Please let me show you the gardens." Ichika had a pleasing manner of behavior that she hoped would put Ada at ease as she took her out to the gardens. "Oh those men, we'll let them have their talk before the meeting. Do you have a favorite flower my dear? I guarantee that I've grown it in this garden." Ichika the green thumb walked through the magnificent gardens with Ada while Hajime and Kenshin remained in the throne room. "Your performance heading court in my stead was surprisingly adequate, well done. However, I hope you're proud of yourself for that stunt you pulled with Lord Hikari. I've been wasting my limited remaining hours placating his family for weeks." Hajime mixture of praise and disappointment with sarcasm was an intricate web for Kenshin to cross into. "He was close to attacking some poor servant girl and then he challenged me." Kenshin grumbled in defense of his behavior before Hajime rolled his eyes. "There are many consequences to every move you make as a nobleman. You represent the imperial Hyuga. This will not happen again." Kenshin merely nodded obediently before his grandfather's authority. Hajime then clapped his hands as the Hyuga guards began setting the table for their meeting. They would need some more time to set up before he would give the order to summon Ada and Ichika.

This can only occur once for every three posts.
β–±β–°β–± Conduction Mastery | Kenshin is able to self-korabo his lightning and water techniques more efficiently by paying 10 less chakra when one raiton and one suiton are combined.

β–° Weapon Type: Katana & Rapier [ Reiken Spirit Sword ]
β–° Weapon Size: 38 Inches Total | 30 Inch Blade | 8 Inch Hilt
β–° Style Categorization: Medium Sword

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity.

__ There was no denying that Ada enjoyed seeing Kenshin's smile more often. In fact, she looked forward to giving him more reason to in the future. She accepted his assistance into the carriage called to her address. Ada didn't express it any more than Kenshin did, but she also questioned the transportation process that had been prepared for them today. She could have simply reverse-summoned them to the Rio Estate which was also in Kumoito and then taken a carriage from there instead. 'At least I can spend more time alone with him before we get into today's business.' As she thought this she adjusted herself to sit closer under Kenshin's arm then heard his comments about the schematics and Azayaka. Ada stopped studying the page she was on as she came to a bit of a realization too, "It's a little funny that you would describe it as a foreign language, Ken. Now that I think about it, I've simply always had a penchant for understanding these things." Her fingers ran down along the page of the fortress' keep while a memory of her tinkering with Hidari and Migi in their infantile stages of construction came and went from her thoughts. She looked up to Kenshin and graciously smiled, "I would be elated to personally give you a tour of the facility, darling. I can think of a couple people in the think tank who would love to get input from skilled warrior like you." His mentioned using his swordsmanship to strengthen bonds within and away from the empire's borders and Ada nodded, "That's a good idea. I know many of the families residing in the capital alone have some degrees of militaristic heritage. It would be a good way to connect with them. Do win your matches, if at least for your own prestige, but be sportsmanlike about it. Modesty is also a double-edged blade in our lives going forward." Ada patted his lap on the closest leg after giving her input and advice on the topic then addressed a relevant matter, "I do not know about the nobility beyond our borders, but I can't imagine it being much different with how the world has always been." It was a simple fact that the world had always been in conflict to some degree or another, even before they joined the fray in their youth. It was sad, but true.

Her ear was turned again to Kenshin when he started to mention the meeting of his resignation then how it shifted to a topic of heirs. While she appreciated Toso as surprisingly insightful and unorthodox leader, she did wonder why such a thing would be brought up by the Arashikage. 'Satoshi's disappearance must have really shook that poor squid-man's heart.' The very thought of one of her own children leaving home in such a manner shook her. Refocusing on the matter of naming their unborn offspring, Ada closed the binder and nodded, "Hideo and Takahiro are wonderful names. They sound strong and reliable, as their father is." Her praise for him was more to state a fact than to stroke his ego, but she didn't mind giving him credit that many others took for granted. Ada thought about if she had any ideas for them to name a child and she chuckled softly, "Heh... well, now that you mention it, I don't think I've thought much about naming other people. Although, I do feel an affinity for Koharu as a name. Thankfully, the name is also appropriate regardless of gender." Koharu's meaning as a "spring child" was much more gentle than strong names like Hideo or Takahiro, but who could say if their names would even properly describe them as individuals in the future? Ever the artist- an epiphany came to her and grew her smile, "What do you think of Satomi or Nanami if we have daughters?" She couldn't say why, but these two just struck their own heart chords and drew her thoughts to what raising Kenshin's children would be like. 'I wonder what they will be like? Their lives in this world will still be difficult in their own ways, but at least it will be infinitely better than their parents' suffrage.' There was a lingering feeling of horror behind the sweet hypotheticals she was conjuring in her imagination. The world was conflict. Perhaps it was peaceful again now, but what of in another decade? Two wars had broken out in just that time since she became a kunoichi. 'Ken and I will have to do our best to prepare them. I hope we can do well...' This would surely be a lingering concern for her on the topic of motherhood, but it would also push her to do what she did best: prepare. Ada was suddenly dredged from her thoughts when Kenshin pointed out the strategically sound site of the plans in the binder on her lap. She smiled, glad to return to the more certain present and gave an acknowledging nod. "Yes, I like Pale Citadel. The name alone paints an even clearer image in my head." Truly, she was glad for the way her brain operated, as she literally was imagining a proud and sturdy bastion of justice that would keep any approaching foes out of the Empire's borders and away from the it's citizens. "Seizan is near enough that its development can contribute to the Pale Citadel. Perhaps one day it can all become even more." The little rural town had developed considerably since just over a decade ago. Nuwa, one of her companies, had been doing fantastic work by providing the labor and skills needed to improve on the town even since it had been rebuilt after the war. Azayaka provided them with the tools needed to ensure Seizan could even grow into a prosperous city in the future.

Awhile after discussing the future of their governance they arrived in Kumoito, and the Harehoru Estate at last. What a beautiful structure it was. Ada had seen it from the imperial palace a many times, and even took note of it from her family's manor since her recent inheritance. She walked arm in arm with her betrothed in her elegant dress. Yui was initially greeted with a kind smile after an acknowledging nod. As they stood in the foyer they were informed that a few more moments were needed before they could have an audience with the Lord and Lady of the Imperial Hyuuga. Ada was a little surprised by Yui's hug, but did not retreat from it in the least. In fact, she was appreciative of the talented attendant. Ada blushed a little when she remembered how she had behaved on the night of the gala but it remained a moment of pride all the same. "Thank you, miss Yui. I'm glad to be able to finally meet you too. I've been very much wanting to thank you for taking such good care of dear Kenshin. I know he also appreciates you even if he grumbles about some of the lessons." Ada glanced over to the man with a simper smirk, knowing he knew she acknowledged his development into the world of the refined more than most. Shortly after giving her thanks to Yui the doors would open into the throne room and she entered in synchronized step to Kenshin. She prostrated herself in the same manner as him to the patriarch and rose to stand again only when ordered. Ada studied Hajime and Ichika for a moment, wondering which would speak given the state of the former's health. It was to be Ichika for the moment. To see her take the floor for her husband's sake was admirable, and the context of her words only emphasized Ichika's apparent charisma. "Thank you, your grace." Ada replied while giving a modest curtsy. Then she was taken by Ichika to allow the men to speak. "Certainly." Ada nodded then glanced back at Kenshin mouthing "I love you" to him as she left the room with his grandmother. If Ada was being honest with herself, she was less afraid of today than confronting her family at the gala. Even so, she would show utmost respect and keep her usual restraint as she moved. The game had already begun. "Thank you, Lady Ichika. This is a thoroughly beautiful and impressive garden." She said as she looked around at all the many colors, shapes and sizes of the present flora. "I find the flower of the lotus quite appealing to the eye, but scent of lilies and amaryllis hard to resist." If she weren't away from her home in Arashigakure so often, she would have gladly kept more live flowers too. It was humbling to see such a magnificent work of art as this garden- especially since Ada's form of art was fundamentally contrary to this.

β–±β–°β–±As Kenshin and Hajime continued their conversation his mind wandered to thoughts of his future children with Ada. Earlier he expressed approval of the Koharu, Satomi, and Nanami name ideas that Ada suggested. The patriarchal structure of the imperial lightning Hyuga seemed ineffective to him. Especially considering that the clan did not always operate in that way as there had been the occasional ruling matriarch. Thus there was not even a strong tradition for doing such. If a daughter was more suited to his position than a son then she would be elevated to it after him. He also worried that growing up in a massive castle would be corrosive for the development of humble moral character. He made a mental note of this to discuss further with Ada later. Another distraction was when Yui occasionally walked into the room to assist with setting the meeting table. He noticed an all-too-familiar scroll on her person which caused a spike of trepidation. She better not make me... Kenshin stopped himself to refocus on his grandfather whose speech was slowed by the buildup of phlegm. Meanwhile, Yui would set the tea in order as well as a special cup of strong filtered coffee for Kenshin. She was generally keeping herself scarce and avoided eavesdropping but there was an obvious pep in her step from getting to meet Ada at long last. She also had other plans in mind for once the meeting was concluded and it would be exactly as Kenshin feared. "Now I see why you were so insistent on her..." Hajime hinted at her beauty through thinly veiled cynicism after hacking blood into a handkerchief. Kenshin was almost moved to pity as it was apparent in his pallid face and severe coughing that Hajime's health was continuing to decline, almost. "You'll see that beauty is the least of her qualities, my lord." Kenshin barked in response with sharpened eyes. He only displayed as much respect as was required of Hajime's position. The cynical elder simply nodded before clapping his hands and being moved into his wheelchair and then taken to his seat at the meeting table. He nodded subtly for Kenshin to do the same although Kenshin would only sit down once his betrothed entered the room with the binder. Hajime took a sip of ginger tea and allowed it to soothe his ruthlessly ailing throat. A charismatic beauty from a lower house marries into a higher house led by a violent hothead, what could possibly go wrong? Hajime continued to stew in his seat as he waited to simply get it all over with. Yui then stepped out of the room toward the garden to collect Ichika and Ada.

Meanwhile, Ichika smiled and enjoyed Ada's company in the gardens. "I have just the thing." She waved for Ada to follow her as she walked deeper into the gardens, making it more difficult for even Yui to track them down as he hurriedly walked all over the estate. She collected an amaryllis flower of appropriate size and bloom. "If I may." The Hyuga noblewoman smiled warmly before placing it behind Ada's ear if she was given permission. "You're so radiant, my dear. You remind me of my sister when she was younger. I'm originally from the Imada clan on the warm southern coast of Nohara. My marriage match with Lord Hajime forged a powerful alliance of that time in the western Land of Lightning." Ichika graciously offered up further background information about herself as she continued adjusting the flower into Ada's hair. Ichika's face glowed as she reminisced about her childhood by the sea. She then moved over and sat down at another garden table and offered the young woman a seat beside her. "Lord Hajime had many contending potential brides over the years of course and I was much younger than you when we were wed. We hardly knew each other but we built our love over time. I understand that you've known Kenshin for some time?" Ichika adeptly eased into being even more personable. She knew that she needed to ingratiate herself with Ada to cement her position better with Hajime's passing becoming more and more likely by the day. "Hajime's father, Lord Hideji Hyuga, made those early years challenging for us. He was a strong warrior, master of the juken, but was a truly wrathful war hawk. I think that had an impact on Hajime, who focused more on developing his patience in contrast. Because Hajime understood the full consequences of his decisions it was difficult for him to take decisive action at times." Ichika was polite and loving as she considered the flaws of her husband and deceased father-in-law. At the same time, she wanted Ada to have the full context so that she could more easily understand the clan's recent history. However, Ichika was understating the extent of Hajime's inaction during his reign which ultimately led to Kenshin's father's defection and subsequent descent into criminality. "Then of course we had our sons, Hayate and Jiro. Hayate was kind-hearted, free-spirited, and talented with the juken art. Jiro was more strategic and reserved, like Hajime, but had an unshakeable sense of honor. Hayate's missions as a Kumogakure shinobi changed him and he left us. I've learned of the wrong he's done since then and it breaks my heart. I only wish I noticed the signs and done something to stop all of this from happening." Ichika was genuine as she laid her soul bare before Ada. Despite being near strangers she knew that the young woman would join the family soon enough and trusted her with all of these details. Her eyes became sad and they seemed worn from the decades of crying at her heart-wrenching regrets. "Jiro replaced Hayate as the heir of course and had a distinguished military career. All of our grandsons followed suit until they were all...taken by the Kogarashi war." Tears began flowing from her eyes as she used her handkerchief to dry them. "The last five years have been hard and I'm so glad that Hajime decided to follow my counsel and legitimize Kenshin. I fear that Kenshin is still sore at us over when we turned him away as a child. I wanted to bring the boy in, he was just darling and a spitting image of my dear Hayate. No matter what Hayate does I still love my son and Kenshin is an extension of that. However, Hajime couldn't bear to look at him and Kenshin's presence would have caused difficulties with Jiro's claim as the heir." The noblewoman pulled together her composure with a sense of hope. The dignified yet kind elder knew that because of Kenshin that she could now look forward to the future. "Kenshin will be a sublime successor to Hajime, I believe that deeply. He's the spitting image of Hayate but his bearing is much more like that of Jiro. I watched Kenshin during his time taking court in Hajime's stead and I was most impressed. He was poised, decisive, yet a keen listener. Wise and noble beyond his years, truly. I believe that he'll be as great a leader of the lightning Hyuga as the legendary Hideohito Hyuga, Kenshin's second great-grandfather, Hajime's grandfather." Ichika perked up as she displayed her faith in Kenshin. "The circumstances of Kenshin's legitimacy would likely be called more into question within the clan had he not been the progenitor of the tenseigan. There are many who believe that he might be the mightiest and most enlightened in the clan's history. They may not express this directly, but Kenshin's leverage is far more than he may suspect. Of course, I've been doing all that I can to promote his claim as well." Ichika displayed her intellect and familiarity with the clan to further depart her wisdom to Ada. "Kenshin and I have never spoken in this way. I hope not, but I regret that it may be too late for me to be a mother to Kenshin. I hope that he can understand that I could not defy my husband, but I still feel guilty for turning him away. But perhaps I could have a relationship with his children someday?" At long last, it was revealed why Ichika was going to such great lengths to communicate with Ada. She calculated that if she could become Ada's ally then she could stand a chance at extensive access to more grandchildren. She had lost all of her grandchildren in the war and her powerful maternal instincts were pulling her toward longing to develop that same relationship with her great-grandchildren to come. Ichika was far younger than Hajime and more than capable of helping the young couple. "I apologize if this is a lot all at once, but I hope that you'll consider this old mother's request." Ichika's warm smile returned as she awaited Ada's response.

Yui heard speaking as she walked through the gardens and came to a stop once she found the two seated by the flower bushes. She waited patiently and bowed deeply before Ichika and Ada once they were finished conversing. "Lady Ichika and Lady Ada, Lord Hajime requests your audience now." The peppy Yui was almost out of breath after briskly walking over the whole garden to find them. "Of course. Thank you, dear." Once Ada and Ichika were ready, she would lead them back to the throne room. Hajime was already seated and Kenshin would take his seat beside Ada while Ichika sat across from her. Yui served the tea as Kenshin began chugging coffee. Only stopping once he realized that he was drinking the black coffee too quickly. "Welcome to Harehoru Estate, Lady Rio. We're delighted to welcome you into the Hyuga clan. I must apologize for insisting on such a short courtship but time is of the essence due to my poor health. Shall we began?" Hajime became much more pleasant and fought through the limitations of his sickly voice. The lord focused his pleasantries on Ada as the guest of honor. Ada still held the binder and would have the floor to present their many plans to the lord. "It's no trouble, my lord, we're eager to marry as soon as possible." Kenshin's words were more polite than his delivery of firing back bluntly before taking another gulp of coffee. Yui bowed once the green-based golden jasmine tea was served before excusing herself from the room and ensuring the meeting's privacy.

This can only occur once for every three posts.
β–±β–°β–± Conduction Mastery | Kenshin is able to self-korabo his lightning and water techniques more efficiently by paying 10 less chakra when one raiton and one suiton are combined.

β–° Weapon Type: Katana & Rapier [ Reiken Spirit Sword ]
β–° Weapon Size: 38 Inches Total | 30 Inch Blade | 8 Inch Hilt
β–° Style Categorization: Medium Sword
β–° Weapon Weight: 3 lbs

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity.

__ Ada shared in Ichika smiles as she followed the older lady around her beautiful garden. After a while of roaming she could tell that she was being led further away into the unassuming maze. Were it anyone else, she may have been suspicious but Ichika simply made her curious. Her spirited aura reminded Ada much of her own mother's whimsy. 'Perhaps they can be friends more easily than I needed worry?' She thought to herself and briefly giggled at the thought of an episode of the two together on some oddball adventure in the capital. "Fufufu!" Ada pointed out a pair of hummingbirds racing each other from one flower to the next to deflect any notice of her giggling. After watching Ichika collect a beautiful amaryllis just fit for her, Ada humbly lowered her head to accept the gift. "I'll treasure this. Truly thank you, Lady Ichika." If Ichika had a keen eye, she could notice the metal grains Ada was subtly collecting around the flower to form a preservative shell which masterfully imitated the amaryllis' shape and colors. It's light pink to crimson gradient hues boldly contrasted her dress to draw the eye up toward her face. Ada had an idea of a particular seal she might be able to apply to it later to serve another purpose other than decoration. She embarrassedly smiled and bowed her head at the woman's charming compliments. Her ears honed in on the name of Imada, but found herself drawing a blank on any specific information regarding the family in that moment. "Lady Ichika, you deeply honor me with such praise. I know your sister is considered a gem of the Imada for her stunning beauty." Ada raised her head to hear more of the marriage arrangements between the Hyuuga and Imada families. To her question of knowing Kenshin she would nod and answer, "Yes, just over a decade. He has grown into a fine man since that uneventful day when he was just an aspiring APD cadet. Aheheh..." She laughed off the memory with a persistently adoring smile. Then she returned her focus to her company when Ichika began to speak of the indomitable Lord Hideji Hyuga who acted in command of many different vanguards on the front lines. There was no denying the warmonger's exceptional military mind- for his time. Taking everything in from Ichika's perspective was far easier thanks to Ada's police experiences. Considering her recent thoughts on becoming a mother, Ichika reliving the memories of her sons was likely not doing justice to the solemness behind those few words. Ada remembered Kenshin speaking of his father and the sheer contempt he felt for the man. Seeing Ichika's regret only made the state of affairs that much more tragic. It was unfortunate that the attack on Gimangakure to root out Kogarashi's remnants was the cause of his escape from prison. A lesser evil was no less a menace. "If only it could have been differently, Lady Ichika." Ada shared in the woman's lamenting of the past. 'Would this be me if my child were to go so far astray?' Ada quietly pondered on such a concerning possibility, further growing the few concerns she was harboring for their children.

She lowered her head again as she was reminded of the names of Hayate and his sons on the memorial. "I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I wish that I could have joined the main forces sooner, but... it was impossible with an opponent like that. I had to protect Kenshin..." The last part caught even her by surprise- an uttered truth of the heart. "The Empire holds firm as the legacy of those who give everything of themselves to protect its people. Your sons and grandsons were true heroes who gave their lives for that duty and are worthy of respect." Ada could tell the woman had mostly found closure for herself on the matter, and did not necessarily aim to reopen old wounds. However, she also wanted to let Ichika know that she wouldn't forget those that also fought elsewhere in the same wars she dedicated her skills to. Ada softly patted Ichika on her shoulder to show her condolences then assured "Kenshin also holds his uncle and cousins in high esteem for their service. Perhaps he may seem prickly on the outside, but he seems to be learning forgiveness from where I stand. Stay patient and he may open up to you yet." She hoped these reassurances would help to convey her thoughts regarding the lingering doubts of any naysayers. "I am confident in Kenshin's ability to lead the clan, and am honored to proudly support him as his wife and a fellow guardian of our beautiful nation." Ada's nationalistic tendencies surfaced, but were quite endearing given her demonstrated faith in the Empire's potential to serve its people. The reasons for Kenshin's illegitimacy didn't worry Ada in the least. 'It seems that I may speak to Lady Ichika of my Mahofu heritage before Kenshin. I hope he won't be cross with me for it.' She worriedly thought to herself after comparing their situations to when they were young and grossly inexperienced with the ways of the world. By the end of what was said, Ada had determined that her suspicions regarding the weight of Kenshin's claim and the nightmarish political processes in the Hyuga court since he told her everything in his office that day. Ada smiled warmly and rested a hand over Ichika's before saying, "Lady Ichika, I've known you for hardly more than fifteen minutes and you've gained my adoration. I promise that you and my mother may both visit our children as often as you like, so long as we are considerate of each other." It was a modest condition, but necessary given that Kaede was just as curious about the topic of children even before it came up after breakfast that morning with Kenshin. "However, there is something that I wish to reveal about myself, and telling you now will help me prepare to speak of it to Kenshin, and to Lord Hajime." It was inevitable and Ada did not believe in hiding such information while preparing to marry into this prestigious family. "I've learned that my mother, Kaede, is the illegitimized eldest daughter of Kaiten Mahofu. It is not my place to say more than praise her for following her heart. I suppose I inherited that from her." Ada chuckled, assuming that Ichika may have heard rumors of the gala from Yui or elsewhere by now. Ada stared down at her hand as it rested over Ichika's and continued, "As you might assume, that means that I have a rather complicated pedigree. I know very little of my Mahofu lineage at the moment, and I doubt it will make much difference. As the adopted inheritor of the Rio family's leadership, I guess you could say fate somehow found a way to put me in this kind of role." She herself had little faith in such things a destiny or fate, but had little other way to describe it. Coincidences didn't exist in her detective mindset. "Please understand that I still don't and will not regret anything leading up to Kenshin's proposal for my hand. It could have been far worse..." Shortly after this she heard the distant patter of Yui's footsteps and hushed herself. Ada gave Ichika an endearing smile after having also laid bare such a fresh but crucial chunk of what was now her self.

Ada stood with the Pale Citadel's planning binder in her hands after hearing Hajime's summons. She followed along with Yui and Ichika to the throne room where the meeting was to be held. She rejoined Kenshin at his side before they were seated, and she greeted him with a genuine smile. Ada already felt recharged just being with him again. Ada finished a sip of her tea when Hajime addressed her and she attentively minded him until the question was posed to begin their meeting. Kenshin snapped back with surprising readiness, even for him. Ada would dismiss it for now, but she had a feeling it was relevant to their talks while she and Ichika were away in the gardens. "Thank you for inviting me to your impressive manor, my lord. I look forward to a prosperous union between the Hyuga clan and Rio family." With a subtle slight of hand, Ada set the binder on the table beside her tea, shifting the bound documents into three more copies of itself. The Shuriken Shadow Clone technique had this chance to prove its utility value as a jutsu as well. Each binder was magnetized and distributed to rest before each of them at the table together. If Hajime required assistance Ada would have little trouble manipulating the metal grains mixed into the ink of her pen used to make marks throughout the schematics. She could turn the pages for him and even keep it at a comfortable angle for him to read from. With her consideration settled, Ada would begin to explain the general and some specifically noteworthy details of the Pale Citadel. The information covered ranged from location, to the Imperial support from his Highness as well as her own multi-conglomerated business at the RAN Trinity, and even possible future plans for the Nohara region's development with Seizan as a focal point due to its proximity to the Pale Citadel. Kenshin was welcomed to give his input and ideas that weren't yet outlined in the planner throughout the presentation. Although she carefully paced her explanation to ensure Hajime could comfortably comprehend the information, she worried that it might have been too much for even his own answered questions to wholly grasp. She finished and closed her original copy of them before asking, "Lord Hajime, that is all I have to present of the Pale Citadel for now, but please trust that I am diligently looking for ways to further improve on it for our families to live there as well as for it to serve its role for the Empire." There was plenty else to discuss regarding the marriage, but Ada didn't want to move too quickly for Hajime's sake. Only once they were finished with that part of the meeting would the cloned binders vanish into thin plumes of smoke.

β–±β–°β–±Ichika was simply delighted by Ada's company as they spent time in the garden together. Ada's chuckling at the hummingbirds made Ichika giggle as well. "I once heard a quote that goes if a mortal ever were to hear the words of the gods then it would be in a garden at the cool of the day. I'm not sure how true that is, but there's an almost divine serenity in those moments I think." This was a brief aside before she found the flower to put in Ada's hair. She was then fascinated at her creative use of jiton to enhanced the flower's beauty and longevity. "How brilliant! You're every bit as intuitive as your reputation which proceeds you, Lady Ada." Ichika persisted in her staring at the flower. She smiled and nodded at Ada's appreciation. Her heart was further warmed when she thought of her sister. "Next time Lady Himari and I get together you simply must join us, dear." Ichika spoke of her sister and briefly dreamed of spending more time with her, Ada, and the other noblewomen in her long-standing cocktail circuit. She was also interested in Ada's words about her relationship with her coldly distant but no less dutiful grandson. "Over ten years? How remarkable! It's rare to see true love blossom along with such an auspicious match in noble marriages." Ichika noted with a smile and was truly contented for the young couple. She was then further comforted in the light of Ada's goodness and empathy for the difficulties the mother faced with her sons. Whether it was Hayate's rebellion or Jiro's sudden passing each was a blow to the kindly woman's fragile heart in distinct but still keenly devastating ways. She deeply understood Ada's desire to protect her beloved on the battlefield. "Oh I know, dear. It's difficult not to dwell on the past in my twilight years. I'm often consumed by what could've been but I'm proud that the Hyuga had such an instrumental role in keeping back those Kogarashi brutes." Ichika indicated that she had spent much time considering all of these details in her life. After intense grief came reflection in this same garden over the years. She also accepted that it would take some time for her to repair her damaged relationship with Kenshin but she was willing to try. After her reassurances, the lady Hyuga leaned in and gave Ada a warm embrace. "Thank you so much for listening, dear." When Ada spoke of her confidence in Kenshin's upcoming leadership she nodded in agreement. "When the Sun sets on Hajime's reign I will of course aid in the power transition. I can give counsel if needed but I'd rather my role in governing the clan be more limited." Ichika had very little interest in serving as a prominent advisor. She would rather continue her gardening and help in mothering the new Hyuga children. Her face also beamed so brightly when she was promised access to her great-grandchildren. She was also interested in getting to know Ada's mother more. Ichika then became more serious when Ada informed her of her Mahofu lineage. "Mahofu...one of those samurai clans?" Ichika tried to remember but truthfully her knowledge of the samurai clans or the Land of Iron was scarce. The sweet lady became more poised as she considered all of the political implications of this hidden lineage. "I'm afraid that I likely know less than you of the Mahofu, Lady Ada. But I must insist that you avoid going public with this information until after the marriage. Hajime and Kenshin are of course entitled to know as you've stated but I recommend that we keep this discrete within the family. Your position as the head of the Rio is certain but secret lineages such as these can be dangerous. I've no idea how the Mahofu would respond and we must avoid unnecessary conflict. But I know I'm preaching to the choir here, you know what must be done." Ichika's tone was supportive but somewhat firm as she considered all of the possible implications of this. It was unlikely to cause any tension within the Hyuga and Rio alliance but she wanted to avoid the potential possibility of agitating a powerful foreign clan. Ichika would then leave the garden and sit down beside her husband at the meeting table in front of the Hyuga throne.

Ada would detail their plans for the Pale Citadel with Kenshin quietly seated beside her. He would occasionally chime in with further details that were more political than financial or architectural. "It's the emperor's desire that we establish a stronghold of strategic military importance and that we act as sentinels of the Land of Lightning's sole land border. Harehoru Estate will be maintained but won't be our primary residence. It'll be a place of refuge and my heir will be designated as the lord or lady of Harehoru until they succeed me in command of the Citadel." This was a relief to Kenshin as every hall in Harehoru haunted him with painful memories of his rejection. He was also much more interested in the prospect of commanding the Pale Citadel and guarding the western Land of Lightning. Ichika smiled and was clearly enjoying their presentation as she flipped through the binder's pages. Hajime would quietly do the same with his binder and was able to read the plans remarkably quickly. The sickly man had a high amount of lucidity for his condition with the brain fog of cancer treatment. His high level of intelligence was diminished of course but he was still remarkably sharp. The cynicism in the Hyuga lord's ivory eyes vanished as he looked in fascination at the detailed plans. "I see that the funds and resources at your disposal from the income of your businesses as well as you and Kenshin's personal savings will be more than enough to replenish the Hyuga treasury and construct this Pale Citadel. Additionally, a fortress of this stature will increase the prestige and function of the clan. Much of our landholdings and funds were dried up in the previous conflicts so I'm afraid that we have little material wealth to offer. What do the Rio expect in return for this investment, Lady Ada?" Admittedly, Hajime was impressed and even excited by the opportunity presented for the future of the Hyuga, but he was skeptical and wondered what would be expected in return. Hajime knew that it all seemed too good to be true as he continued. "What we do offer are some of the finest warriors in the empire, a proud lineage with ties to the emperor, and access to the upper echelons of imperial society." Hajime stated this bluntly and was blatantly leveraging the Hyuga position relative to what Ada and the Rio were offering. The new evidence of what this marriage would mean. The Rio clan were going to be elevated in name while the Hyuga wealth and lands would be not only restored but elevated beyond all that they had ever possessed historically. Hajime raised a fine cloth to his mouth and coughed into it before concealing it once again. As he waited for Ada's response, the strategic lord looked at his grandson before posing another question. "The Hyuga have sacrificed much for this empire. The citadel places us on the front lines yet again. If another invasion occurs how can we ensure our survival?" Hajime was naturally more risk-averse as a result of the UHV and Kogarashi wars as well as the reign of his father and predecessor Lord Hideji. "My Lord, the Pale Citadel is designed to be an impregnable mountain fortress over the only road that an army can logistically traverse with siege equipment. A land invasion of the Lightning Country will be much less likely with the citadel as a deterrent. This means that the Hyuga will no longer need to serve as infantry in an open field. Instead, they will man the walls with an immense defensive advantage." Kenshin was prepared for this question from his famously pensive and inaction prone grandfather. Hajime quietly weighed Kenshin's response from every angle that he could conceive of. Eventually, the contemplative lord nodded in the concession of such a strong point. Hajime took a sip of tea as he anxiously awaited to hear what the Rio's price would be. He knew the Rio to be unscrupulous in their pursuit of power and tried to ascertain what Ada's motives might be. For an adoptive daughter to seize power in her noble clan so decisively indicated that she was a force for him to consider carefully.

β–±β–°β–± Piercing Accuracy | The clansman is more proficient than his fellow clan members at striking tenketsu.

Weapon Specs
β–° Weapon Name: Getsuruitō
β–° Weapon Type: Katana & Rapier [ Reiken Spirit Sword ]
β–° Weapon Size: 38 Inches Total | 30 Inch Blade | 8 Inch Hilt
β–° Style Categorization: Medium Sword
β–° Weapon Weight: 3 lbs

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity.

__ Ada would commit the quote of hearing the words of gods in such a place as this to memory, if only just to commemorate this time spent with Ichika. She modestly nodded at the compliment for her preservation of the gifted amaryllis. A thankful smile preceded her agreeing to Ichika's offer to meet Lady Himari when the opportunity next presented itself, "I would be honored to, thank you." With the way Ichika said it, Ada realized how fantastical her relationship with Kenshin seemed to have turned out. "You're right..." She had to admit that the odds of this result weren't ever likely, but dedication and preparation made it a feasible enough future to grasp. Ada didn't regret anything leading up to his point in her life, but she did wish she could have somehow done more for those around her. She was only one woman, and that was a fact that she always had a hard time pacing herself to. In that regard, she and Ichika were quite alike. She nodded with a gladdened expression to have partaken in their private talks. "May Lord Hajime's remaining time be in comfort and at ease in his heart and mind." She offered her heartfelt wishes for her husband to not suffer the rest of his life with the stress of a future he could not be there to witness. Ada nodded when Ichika recalled the Mahofu with understandable uncertainty. The only information she had on the clan was that which her mother divulged, so their current state of affairs was beyond her current knowledge. Even so, she did feel the faintest of a calling in her heart to investigate- as if it were deeply important to her to know despite all that she already had in her future. She largely ignored this tugging feeling thanks to her practicality and tact, but it wouldn't subside for long at a time. Ada gave an acknowledging nod to Ichika's advice about limiting the sharing of knowledge regarding her lineage. "Yes, of course. My parents went to great lengths to keep this a secret from my sister and I until just this week. From what little I know of the Mahofu, you are likely correct in assuming You are the first which I have told, and... I'm glad I have. Your wisdom is appreciated, Lady Ichika." She had bowed her head thankfully before they departed with Yui to the meeting with Hajime and Kenshin.

The presentation went well and Ada was pleased to see that Hajime was having little trouble keeping up with it all. She was just glad that being able to present normally minimized the chances of misunderstanding. All the same, she kept Ichika's praise of her husband in mind, remembering that Hajime was a sagacious, albeit calculatingly indecisive, man. Kenshin's input throughout the presentation was highly appreciated since Ada wanted to show Hajime that the Rio family wasn't trying to take all of the glory for themselves in this impressive endeavor. She waited for the patriarch to finish asking of the Rio's intentions while considering what his family could offer in return for this union. Again, Kenshin helped by emphasizing that the goal of the Pale Citadel was to limit the Empire's casualties, including those that would be stationed there. "Ahem..." Ada softly cleared her throat to answer Hajime's skepticism. Their was a profound confidence in her insight for the future of their married families as she spoke, "Lord Hajime, please be at ease. I understand that the Rio family's reputation under Shojiro's leadership was practically belligerent in the presence of the Imperial Courts, but my reign is one focused on unity and progression. I've taken measures to ensure cohesion in the family toward these goals and only wish to share our successes with the Hyuga." Ada closed her binder and rested her hand upon it as if taking an oath in a judicial setting, "The Rio family offers its full support and resources to share with little reservation, and only asks that the Hyuga continue to dedicate their service to the Empire and its subjects. I would feel most at ease knowing that your impressive lineage was available at the Pale Citadel under Kenshin's command to serve the very role we've spoken of." She reached over to her side and offered her hand for Kenshin to take into hers at that moment before concluding, "Together, the Hyuga and Rio can forge a new prosperous path for our families through honor, ingenuity, skill and merit." Ada bowed her head to the man at the head of the table to show her respect and that she had finished her short speech. Her enunciation was impeccable and she hoped that her words had served to also properly convey her faith in the bigger picture that would be painted throughout the coming years of marriage to Kenshin. The Citadel was to be a powerful symbol of many meanings to their family and for the Lightning Empire as well.

β–±β–°β–±Ichika continued to sit across from Ada at the meeting table and smile. She was honored to be the first that Ada told about her lineage and that her advice was useful to the younger woman. Meanwhile, Hajime listened intently to Ada's response and felt relieved. He had taken time from so many of his final days getting his successor's affairs in order and that venture was now drawing to a satisfactory close. Despite years of grieving but also agonizing over choosing Kenshin as his new heir after Jiro's death, he was acting far more decisively in what he expected to be the final year of his reign compared to all of the former years. He knew that preparations for his death had to be finalized in order for Hideohito's brilliant lightning Hyuga clan design to live on. Hajime watched Ada give her quasi-oath of service to the Hyuga clan which focused a smile on his worn-in face. When Ada extended her hand, Kenshin would allow his hand to fall into her's. Kenshin always appreciated Ada's charismatic articulation of aspirations for a brighter future. Ichika smiled when she saw Kenshin's admiring gaze toward Ada. She had never seen anything like it from him and it gave her hope that perhaps someday they could reconcile. Hajime also became visibly more relaxed before quietly grabbing a pen and stationary. With all of the mental and physical energy, the dying octogenarian could muster he began writing a new document in great detail before signing one of the lines at the bottom. "This is my official blessing for the union of my heir and the head of the Rio. It's also a binding contract containing the details of the marriage alliance. Essentially it confirms that the Hyuga forces will be committed in exchange for the Rio's resources as you've indicated." The Hyuga lord had skillfully crafted a prenuptial agreement and legal blessing that was meant to be fair to both clans in the partnership. Hajime's extensive experience in creating marriage alliances and even matters of state allowed him to create the document with ease on a single page.

Kenshin accepted the document and placed it in front of himself and Ada on the table. He noted the beauty of Hajime's penmanship and how simple it was to read even in cursive. "Looks fair to me." Kenshin stated plainly after reading the whole document at his own pace. He would put his signature at the bottom before handing the pen off to Ada to finalize the document. If Ada agreed to sign the contract finalizing the stipulations of the noble marriage then Hajime would continue to speak. "Despite not having the highest name, Lady Rio, I must admit that there's no more ideal match in the empire than you. You've exceeded my expectations as a marriage candidate for the heir of my clan. May you both lead our clans into prosperity." Hajime smiled again and was immensely pleased with this marriage arrangement. He praised Ada on the grounds that her resources, ingenuity, leadership, and integrity were exactly what the Hyuga would need to become the greatest clan in the empire. Once Ada signed, Hajime would stamp and notarize the marriage blessing before handing it off to Yui for additional processing. Ichika gleefully clapped and smiled at Kenshin and Ada. She was beyond excited for what was to come and did not hold back in expressing this. Yui overheard Hajime's approval and did a happy dance as she accepted the document for processing. A copy of it would be sent to the imperial palace shortly. "Congratulations! Lady Ada, do you have anything else to say to or ask us?" Ichika asked and gave a look to hint at mentioning what they had discussed earlier. She also wanted to give her an opportunity to ask any questions of them that she needed before Hajime would retire to his quarters and rest. In Hajime's excitement for the union, he would speak immediately after Ichika with less formal questions. "I must appear at the wedding in person to grant further legitimacy to the matrimony. Unfortunately, I must insist that the ceremony takes place as soon as possible. I also might not feel well enough to stay after the ceremony's confirmation. Now that the blessing has been authorized all of the necessary steps have been taken to ensure a smooth transition for my successor. When and where will the wedding take place?" Hajime asked and was immediately answered by Kenshin. "Very soon. We're meeting with the empress today to finalize the date and venue." Truthfully Kenshin wanted to get married to Ada as quickly and efficiently as possible. That way they could pool their assets together and begin constructing the Citadel in earnest. He was anxious to begin their new life together. "Oh how marvelous! I'm so excited to attend! Have you made arrangements for the honeymoon yet?" Ichika chimed in and was enchanted by the romance of it all. Kenshin was caught flat-footed by this question as he firmly squeezed's Ada's hand and looked at her. He really had put no thought into it whatsoever in the midst of this whirlwind. "Anywhere, just no beaches." Kenshin stated sternly under his breath as he turned to Ada so that only she would hear him. He gave her the floor to answer that question. Yui continued gushing over Kenshin and Ada's budding nuptials in the background as she made copies of the document before shipping them off to various imperial offices with the Hyuga couriers. Hajime grabbed Ichika's hand and smiled with relief in a way that she had not seen in years. She could tell that he was now at peace knowing that all was finally settled for his passing. "And you plan on having children yes?" Hajime asked before Kenshin snapped back into focus after being flustered by the sudden honeymoon question. He nodded in response which was the only indication that Hajime needed on the topic knowing that his lineage would continue. Ichika then tightened her hand as if nudging Hajime before he remembered. "Oh yes, of course, unless either of you have further questions for me then I must retire to recuperate." Hajime waited patiently and had more than enough energy to talk more with Ada and Kenshin if they desired. Kenshin simply shook his head and remained silent as he gently rubbed Ada's hand with his thumb.

This can only occur once for every three posts.
β–±β–°β–± Conduction Mastery | Kenshin is able to self-korabo his lightning and water techniques more efficiently by paying 10 less chakra when one raiton and one suiton are combined.

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity.

__ Ada was beyond relieved to have earned such approval from the reigning lord of the Hyuga clan. His prenuptial document he quickly and rather impressively drafted on the spot left nothing for her to doubt or have concerns for in regards to the futures of their married families. Ada reviewed it with Kenshin as it was put before them and she would sign the document with a content smile across her lips. Her eyes raised to Hajime when he addressed her shortly afterward with such high praise. Ada respectfully bowed her head to him and Ichika from across the table, "You honor me, Lord Hajime. I swear to uphold my promises today and my vows to Kenshin for as long as I draw breath." It was almost scary how easily she almost addressed him as her father-in-law so soon, but she remembered to show proper respects all the same. Her words remained poetically sincere as these were principals that were simply integral to the woman she had developed into. Ada glanced over to see Yui seemed rather ecstatic for how things had taken such a fortuitous turn; she certainly appreciated the young woman's continued support. Ichika's congratulations was met with a smile personally directed at the matriarch then Ada returned her attention to Hajime when he spoke again. She did in fact have more to add and appreciated her aid in segueing into the news, but she knew to address the Lord's question before posing any of her own. The matter of circumstance regarding his fading health was a heavy topic. Admittedly, Ada wished that she had more time to ask him a great many things about his family and access the deep wells of experience which he surely had in his famously cautious and thoughtful way of leadership. Time was unkind in this way to the likes of all- as far as she knew.

Kenshin promptly answered the question regarding the wedding location and date. She nodded in agreement, feeling rather eager for the audience with her Highness. It almost didn't feel like the morning was barely turning to the early afternoon with all that had already been accomplished. Ada restrained a chuckle at Kenshin's dismissal of beaches as an option for their honeymoon. She had no preference for location as long as it was with him. They had talked very little on the matter since they were engaged and clearly no official decision yet. Seemingly by a whim, she suggested, "Perhaps scenic mountains of the neighboring Land of Frost would be more suitable, Kenshin?" She'd simply plant the thought in his mind, only remembering that the magnificent, expansive frozen tundras as well as the cloud and snow topped mountains would be an interesting contrast from his expressed preference. Ada hardly even flinched or shied away when Hajime himself inquired of heirs. "We do, m'lord." Kenshin's quiet and firm nod was perfectly complimentary to her expressed affirmation and she noted that time for their meeting was growing short for Hajime. 'Now before never, Ada.' She subtly took a deep breath and slowly exhaled to organize her thoughts and she would speak. She had more questions for him than he had breaths to spare, but they all paled in comparison to the details she felt he needed know about her own lineage. "If I may say one more thing, m'lord?" She honestly felt bad for not letting him return to resting as soon as possible so she would try to make this as brief as she could without missing any important details. Ada's grip on Kenshin's hand tensed a little before saying, "As may you know, I was adopted into Rio family by Shojiro. It seems that he was dissatisfied with his own heirs' ability to properly increase the Rio family's status. I do not mean to sound as if I am proud to reap the claim that was rightfully theirs, but I will not fail in Shojiro's expectations despite my own reservations for his character and manner of... leadership." Truth was, she honestly loathed the man, but also appreciated the life that she had been given as a result of his selfishness and haphazard hastiness. In a way, her achievements had more than spoken for her ability to see the Rio family continue to prosper regardless of this marriage, but she was more than glad to share in that with Kenshin and his family too. A brief pause came and went before continuing, "To my surprise, and thanks to a recent reunion with my birth parents, I have learned of my own lineage." A very finely embossed parchment rolled into a small scroll appeared in her free hand before magnetically manipulating the gold caps to land it before the Hyuga lord. "As you may read, that is something of a pedigree detailing my relation to the royal bloodline of the Mahofu clan from the Land of Iron. My mother eloped and abandoned her duties to the clan, so I assume that any claim to the Mahofu is effectively forfeit. I simply wanted to be completely transparent with you, m'lord, and to you..." Ada turned her gaze directly to Kenshin, expressing regret for not having braced him with this news sooner, "Kenshin." She smiled through the regret, knowing in her heart that he would not likely fault her for the news any more than he might simply be happy for her knowing more of herself. Ada reassuringly nodded to him and returned her full attention to Hajime and his wife at his side. "I tell you this after all we have said only because I do not believe it changes my oaths nor does it distract my intentions for this marriage." It was unavoidable that she had learned of these things only in the last week, and she hoped for Hajime's compassion for these circumstances.

β–±β–°β–±Kenshin briefly considered the neighboring Frost Country as the honeymoon location and the idea sounded suitable to him. Perhaps he was getting so caught up in the formalities and intricacies of a major noble marriage that he had yet to consider the equally important romantic elements. He signaled his approval of the idea with a nodding glance at Ada. He was also potently reassured by Ada's persistent commitment to their marriage. Hajime was likewise assured with the knowledge that not only did Ada supply more than ample revenue but that she would also provide heirs for his lineage. Yet Hajime still felt the nagging dark cloud of his mortality pestering him with the knowledge that he would not see the next generation of his progeny. He felt this sorrow well up in his throat that compelled him to speak rather abruptly. "I want your children to know that while their great-grandfather made many mistakes out of inaction that I did all in my power to establish their father and their own place in my lineage when the Sun began to set on my reign." While the Hyuga lord felt resigned to his fate and wallowed readily in the mistakes of his life he conveyed this message for his descendants with almost desperate intention. This revealed a crack in Hajime's stoic visit that even Ichika had not seen in a long time. Tears welled up in Ichika's eyes as she placed her hands over the palm of her dying husband. "I'll ensure that they know how much they meant to you. I promise." Ichika was sincere in her commitment to Hajime's legacy within the clan but it was acutely important to her that this sentiment would be granted to Kenshin and Ada's children. Ichika recognized her husband and reigning lord's mistakes but she agreed with every action that he had taken within the last few months to ensure a prosperous future for the clan after his passing. Kenshin's eyes sharpened on his great-grandparents as he remained silent. Ichika and Hajime became uncomfortable with their heir's silent contempt for them due to their abandonment of him as a child but did not respond to it. They had already determined that mentioning the matter directly to him was too risky for all that they required of him. Tension would hang in the air and Kenshin allowed his hand to rub Ada's as an indication that he felt it was best that she respond to this instead of him as she was far more capable of a diplomatic response than he.

Kenshin felt her hand tighten on his and he immediately responded with a reassuring squeeze. Hajime and Ichika would return their attention to Ada as she spoke of her lineage. It was of no surprise to Ichika but she was pleased with Ada's transparent and tactful delivery of the news. Ichika looked at the men in the room with interest as she had no idea how they would respond. Kenshin ceased glaring at Hajime and looked at Ada with an eyebrow arched in confusion. He quietly put the pieces together and felt his chest tighten like a coil. Hajime coughed and took another sip of tea and carefully considered this information. Characteristically, he took a long time to respond as he formed a careful strategy in his head. Kenshin would fill the silence with a brief statement. "This doesn't change anything." It took a lot of effort to conceal that he was irritated that she did not warn him of this in advance. Kenshin always hated surprises and would have preferred that this item be addressed on the agenda so that he could have a more articulate response. Even more annoying to him was the idea that he had to learn about this in the presence of two people that he generally loathed being around and it was clear that the meeting would press on for longer than he wanted. Even one minute overtime was too long for him to spend around Hajime and Ichika. After an almost agonizingly long silence, Hajime took another sip of tea before finally responding. "Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I think this could potentially be fortuitous for our alliance. Not only do you offer your vast personal wealth and your leadership of your adopted noble clan, but you also have noble blood in your veins." Hajime made this assessment with a sense of excitement. Matters of politics, nobility, and blood rights were Hajime's specialty after all. He was interrupted by a coughing fit into his handkerchief before he continued. "I can assign some Hyuga clan elite agents to discretely investigate this...Mahofu clan. I know little of the Land of Iron and its politics but I do know that it's a neighbor of the Lightning Empire. They also have vast samurai armies that imperial officials are apprehensive of. If you can keep your lineage close to the vest then we might be able to leverage this information on the Mahofu. This could potentially supply the Hyuga clan with connections and resources in the Iron Country that no other imperial lightning clans have." Hajime spoke with as much of his intelligent lucidity as possible even through the limitations of the brain fog and hoarse voice of his illness. "These are interesting possibilities. But I must also caution you of the importance of discretion. Intrigue and plots rot on the vine if they become public knowledge, as you know, Lady Ada." The lord's famously chary disposition rose to the surface as he finished speaking to Ada. Kenshin was skeptical of Hajime's plotting given how isolated the Land of Iron was known to be. He still felt his lingering discomfort with the surprising information but dismissed it for the time being, knowing that they would have more time to discuss it on a less busy day. After a few more minutes of enjoying their tea, Hajime would wipe the corners of his mouth with a cloth napkin before transitioning to the next stage. "If there are no more matters to discuss then I must retire to my quarters. But there are parts of the estate that I wish to show you along the way, Lady Ada. If you would please follow me." With a polite demeanor he rolled back and away from the table before Ichika began pushing his wheelchair toward his living quarters.

Hajime would go on to give a tour of sorts as Kenshin, Ada, and Yui would follow behind Ichika. "The Harehoru Estate has been established for centuries beginning with the rule of the great Hideohito Hyuga. We are direct descendants of him through the paternal line to this day." He knew this had been explained to Kenshin before but he wanted to offer Ada the clan's background. He went into additional detail before they arrived at a doorway that led to a massive courtyard filled with young men and women training. "HYA!" The Hyuga acolytes yelled as they practiced the various powerful palm forms. They stood in precise rows of dozens as Hajime pointed to them. They would all bow before him and Kenshin. Ada might have been able to recognize some of them as junior Hyuga guards at the gala. All of them seemed rather excited by Kenshin and Ada's presence. "We've held intensive training of the gentle fist in this courtyard for generations." Hajime noted with pride as he recalled his own training in the gentle fist in this very same courtyard over seven decades prior. "My Lord, if I may speak!" One young man in the crowd stood from his bow before Hajime nodded. "Sir Kenshin, would it be possible that you train us today?" The Hyuga asked with bold excitement as the others surrounding him became thrilled by the prospect as well. Kenshin nodded quietly before looking at Ada. "Perhaps in a few minutes, but not for long." He looked back at the younger Hyuga before they all gasped in excitement to learn more of the juken from the famous progenitor of the tenseigan. Kenshin became uncomfortable with their enamored demeanor, especially with how rigorous his training was on them the last time. Although he could not help but appreciate their dedication. Once they all bowed and returned to their training, Hajime would complete the tour with even more information. Perhaps even more than Ada needed about the imperial lightning Hyuga. "That concludes the tour. My apologies, but I must rest now. It was a distinct pleasure meeting you, Lady Ada." Hajime politely dismissed himself with an ephemeral smile of hope towards Ada. He was truly grateful for all that she was providing to the clan. Ichika would dismiss herself as well to care for Hajime. "Alright Ada dear, I must tend to Lord Hajime, but please do let me know if you ever need anything." Ichika would give Ada a warm hug before taking Hajime to their private wing of the estate.

Once Hajime and Ichika were gone this left Kenshin and Ada with Yui who immediately beamed with a smile at them. "Oh my goodness gracious! What a day!" Yui was still gushing over Kenshin and Ada's romance and was beyond excited for the upcoming nuptials. "I noticed that you still have an hour before you have to leave for your meeting with Empress Unki. Lady Ada! You simply must have Sir Kenshin read to you the poetry he wrote for you during our lesson!" She handed the red scroll that Kenshin had worriedly noted before. He became instantly embarrassed when she foisted the scroll on him. "No, they're not even full poems. They're just poetic sounding lines..." Kenshin attempted to lower Yui's excitement but to no avail as she remembered her elation at reading them. She clasped her hands together before waving for them to follow her outside to the koi pond area. Kenshin shook his head as he stepped outside to see what Yui was going on about. He stared down at the scroll before Yui continued to blush and gander at the couple. "But Sir Kenshin they're so sweet! She'll love it! Besides, you know that it's customary for a nobleman to write poetry for his betrothed before the wedding." Yui had been looking forward to this all day and she was not going to let Kenshin brush his feelings under the rug out of trepidation. He looked at his feet before looking up at Ada and biting the inside of his cheek knowing that Ada would appreciate the romance of it all. He also had another surprise of his own in mind that was a long time coming. "Alright." Kenshin surrendered to Yui's demands before he grasped Ada's hand before walking her toward the small wooden bridge over the ponds that reflected the midday Sun. Yui dismissed herself but only so that she could hide in the house with her ear pressed against the door and her eye glancing at them from the window's corner. She eavesdropped on them and Kenshin did his best to pretend that she was not obviously doing so. He released her hand as he unraveled the scroll and sincerely read its written contents. "Ada, I've been fascinated and nourished for years by your essential goodness. I've been drawn in by your example. Knowing you has taught me to show mercy. I've learned from you that mercy is essential to justice in leadership. It was then that I knew love. When I thought it was hopeless I didn't care. All I wanted was to deserve you. For you to teach me. I'll do anything you say." Kenshin now felt exhilarated expressing these feelings to Ada despite his initial reluctance. He needed desperately to express the full depth of his commitment to her and what her example has always meant to him. His eyes moved down as he looked at the following line. "Ada, my love for you is like breath entering my lungs. You're ever-present with me and endlessly necessary. Even in the scarce moments when I'm not thinking of you, I feel you, and I know you sustain me." He looked up at her and smiled softly before progressing to the final written line. He recalled the agonizing process of overcoming writer's block to write these complex feelings on paper. "Ada, I know that I once said you were the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. I know that I've spoken at length about my commitment to you. While all of these words were true, none of them fully speak to what I feel as my soul is laid bare before you. When I look at you it feels like I'm seeing the sunrise for the first time, every time. Not only are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, but I didn't know the beauty in your sapphire eyes or the radiance of your smile could ever exist. Looking at them feels like seeing color after being blind for my entire life. I look forward to seeing them every day for the rest of my life." Kenshin rolled up the scroll and stored it away before retrieving another item from his pocket. He grabbed Ada's left hand before sliding her engagement band onto her ring finger. Kenshin smiled with the brightness of the noon Sun above them as he looked down at Ada. "Will you marry me?" He asked in jest before continuing. "I hope you didn't think I forgot. If the sapphire looks familiar to you, I collected it from the base of the statue of us you created during the gala. The sapphire reminded me of your eyes, it's surrounded by ten diamonds. The ring is silver and it was created by jiton users so you should have full control over it." Kenshin had actually spent much of his time in the capital during his previous visit working on designing and having the ring created. "I love you so much." Kenshin felt his affection flood his voice as he continued to smile at her. Meanwhile, Yui continued to watch them and screeched out in excitement with an inconsolable amount of enthusiasm at watching their true love on display. "YES!" Yui covered her heart with her hands, feeling overwhelmed by the sweet romance before tripping and falling out of the doorway and into Kenshin and Ada's view again. This was the first time that Yui had seen Kenshin smile up close. Yui noted that it was as if he reserved that rare and soft side of himself solely for Ada. She blushed even deeper in embarrassment once she was caught eavesdropping and was in their view once again. She stood up and tried in vain to play it off as Kenshin looked over and glared at her. "I mean! Um...the trainees are wondering if you'll join them soon...Sir Kenshin!" Yui tried to recompose herself as she tried to see if Ada was blushing too. Yui nervously bowed three times before running back into the estate. Kenshin looked away from Yui and back down at Ada as he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Kiss me, my girl, before I'm missed." Kenshin smiled at her again as he addressed her with a far less formal and more familiar tone than usual. He waited for her to fulfill his request before he would release her and walk back into the house and across the hall into the training courtyard.

Yui would immediately run back out to the koi pond area to greet Ada once the giddy attendant's grumpy nobleman was out of the way. She immediately threw her arms around Ada in a friendly hug and screeched with excitement when she saw her engagement ring up close. "AHHHHHHHH! IT'S BEAUTIFUL!" Yui jumped in place repeatedly once she released Ada. She felt her heart practically beating out of her chest after watching the real-life love story before her. "And wasn't I right about his writing?! Oh how I love romantic writing!" Yui was a lifetime reader of romance novels and love sonnets. She knew that Kenshin was not much of a poet but she was enthralled with the depth of his feelings for Ada. "I'm so happy for you two! It's like you're living the best love story EVER! Oh how I long for that someday..." The pink-haired attendant fanned herself off as she gushed with Ada and would give her a congratulatory high five. The hopeless romantic simultaneously expressed her dream of falling in love someday. Yui looked back toward the door and realized that her time of tutoring Kenshin was almost completed as he had passed all of her lessons. "Oh how far he's come. If it's not out of place for me to say, I don't know if I've ever had such a challenging student as Sir Kenshin. But I also don't think I've ever met a man who loves his bride quite as much as Sir Kenshin loves you. It was just a lot of work to get him to express it!" Above all Yui was relieved that Kenshin had improved so much and quite amazed at his progress by the end. Yui wiped away a sentimental tear as she thought more of her assigned nobleman. "Sir Kenshin is quite handsome, wouldn't you agree? I'll have to remember to dig up the old photos for you next time. He looks exactly like his father Hayate, who I hear was quite the heartthrob in Kumo! Well, that was before he...left. Anyway, Sir Kenshin even looks a bit like Lord Hajime when he was a young man. I think it's that they both have those serious faces and long sideburns. Combined with your beauty, Lady Ada, I think the clan will see some adorable children!" Yui was endlessly supportive of Kenshin and Ada's union and would take every opportunity to reiterate it. She was also extremely excited to have any amount of one-on-one time with Ada who she had really grown to admire since the gala. "Oh and the trainees just love Sir Kenshin, no matter how hard he puts them through the ropes! It's because they feel honored to train under the famously powerful Kenshin Hyuga! I think he'll be gone longer than he expects. Let me show you around some more, my lady!" Yui would take Ada's arm if given permission and lead her away from the bridge over the largest koi pond. "This place is just enormous. When I trained to become an attendant, I really wanted to work here for the imperial Hyuga. I'm so glad I did well enough on my exam to get my first choice. Even if studying meant that I couldn't read my big stack of romance novels for a while!" She shared more of herself with Ada as she practically skipped around the section of gardens across from the koi pond that Ada had yet to see. "The Hyuga are absolutely my favorite of the lightning's nobility. They're so powerful, yet graceful. I'm so lucky that I get to watch it up close!" Yui continued her endless positivity with Ada as she giddily dragged her around to all of the beautiful flower bushes. Yui was the first to admit that she had a tendency to obsess over her interests. Romance novels, the Hyuga, propriety, and now the Hyuga clan's newest marriage were her objects of absolute adoration but now she was going to let onto another fascination of hers. "Is Selina Rosewater the same in person as she is on stage? Her voice is so beautiful. She's my favorite singer, y'know! I got into musicals and singing when one of my friends gave me her albums. I don't think Sir Kenshin likes my singing during the poetry lessons..." Yui wanted to build up sympathy from the kind Ada before taking the opportunity to express herself further. "Come to think of it...how does he knooooow you love him? How does he knooooow he's yours? β™ͺβ™«" Yui paused as they approached a tall bush and a small band of conga players appeared out of the garden. They began playing their instruments and backup singing with Yui and gave off the impression that Yui clearly planned this. "How does he know that you love him?" Yui smiled as they began singing together. "How does he know that you really really truly love him? How does he know that you love him? How do you show him you love him? How does he know that you really really truly love him?! β™ͺβ™«" The singing intensified as they stared at Ada and put her on the spot before Yui whimsically ran into a nearby meadow. "It's not enough to take the one you love for granted. You must remind him or he'll be inclined to saaaaaay...how do I knoooooooooooooooow she loves me?! How do I knooooooooow she's miiiiiine?! Well do you leave a little note to tell him he is on your mind? Send him yellow flowers when the sky is gray...hey! You'll find a new way to show him a little bit every day...that's how he knows...that's how he knows...he's your love! β™ͺβ™«" Yui grabbed Ada's hands and pranced about in the flowery meadow at the band followed them. "β™ͺβ™« You've got to show him you need him, don't treat him like a mind reader! Each day do something to lead him to believe you love him! β™ͺβ™«" The leading conga player in the band continued to sing as they ran through the meadow with Yui and Ada. "Everybody wants to live happily ever afteeeeeeer Everybody wants to know their true love is truuuuuuuuue! How do you knoooooow he loves you?! How do you knooooooow he's yours? Well does he take you out dancing just so he can hold you close?! Dedicate a song with words meant just for you...oooh! He'll find his own way to tell you with the little things he'll doooo! That's how you know he's your love!" Yui then plucked some flowers and began dancing in the meadow alongside the band. "That's how you knoooooow he loves you! That's how you knooooow it's true! His heart will be yours forever! That's how you know!" The hired band entered the fever pitch ending of the song as Yui continued excitedly prancing around with flowers everywhere. "That's how he'll know that you love him! That's how you show him you love him! You've got to show him you need him! Don't treat him like a mind reader!" They continued playing their congas and even some woodwind instruments as Yui's dancing before Ada intensified. "That's how he'll knoooooooow! That's how he'll knooooow he's your looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove! β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«β™ͺβ™«" Yui poured all of her heart into her singing and dancing before theatrically collapsing to the ground with flowers hugged against her chest and a massive smile on her face.

This can only occur once for every three posts.
β–±β–°β–± Conduction Mastery | Kenshin is able to self-korabo his lightning and water techniques more efficiently by paying 10 less chakra when one raiton and one suiton are combined.

β–° Style Categorization: Medium Sword

β–° Description: Getsuruitō (ζœˆζΆ™εˆ€, Moon Tear Sword) is a legendary sword that was reworked and merged with the standard-issue Kumogakure Police Department officer rapier commissioned to Kenshin Kosei named Purity.

__ Ada was glad to notice Kenshin's approval for her suggestion of the Frost Country out the peripheral of her view. Her smile grew on her lips in appreciation for their consensus while noticing that Hajime seemed to have something on his mind to speak of. To her surprise, it was a continuation on the topic of Kenshin's heirs. His regret-bound words sounded much more like a dying wish than a mere request of them. Ada lost her composure only long enough to actually glance ove rin Kenshin's direction after hearing Ichika's reassurance; however, there was a wall projected from the stoic gaze of Kenshin's inert dojutsu. 'Ken...' She paused in her thought to return her full attention to the lord and lady of the estate, 'It is okay, Ken, you're still learning and nobody can say you haven't come far in your own right.' Undiminished favor of her betrothed only firmed her resolve to see true justice done for their families. In time, Kenshin would learn that forgiveness was an important attribute of mercy and as a necessary opposite of any castigation of a reprehensible guilt. Ada's resolve was conveyed to her company with a gentle smile and understanding gaze which fell upon Hajime and Ichika. As might be expected, Kenshin's stoicism toward the topic left much to be desired in response to Hajime's entreaty. So, Ada felt that she was next and only to give a formal reply. 'It would surely help Hajime die with one less regret to know that his grandson does not in fact hate him for the great man he has became after overcoming all of his life's trials and tribulations.' For the shortest of long moments, Ada wished she could just speak such thoughts, but she knew that such a discussion was better suited between them in public rather than in the presence of his grandparents. Ada took a inhaled briefly then slowly exhaled as she began by saying, "Lord Hajime, Lady Ichika. Father and mother, if I may. I would not dare despoil our children of such important heritage, nor would I misinform them of it." Her free hand fell over Kenshin's as if to reassure him despite her not shifting her view away from his grandparents. Ada took a subtle breath then continued, "I swear that they will know of their diligent and thoughtful great-grandfather who gave much and more of his soul to allow us all to know love for each other." She then momentarily bowed her head toward the couple across the table and finished the topic by saying, "Truly, I thank you for making giving Kenshin and I the opportunity to meet a decade ago. Without that decision, we may never have come this far." Now, Ada looked to Kenshin and her expression of elation was nearly reminiscent of the night of the gala. She was still speaking to Hajime, for the most part, but her next few phrases were undeniably for Kenshin. "Without Kenshin, I would never have been free, and I feel that without me... Kenshin may not have become the incredible man the world needed to save it five years ago. I'm so thankful..." Her head bowed again, this time toward her betrothed, in hopes that he would understand not only her appreciation of him but that he might also start to see the good that had come of his difficult past. Undoubtedly, these feelings also helped her find the strength to speak on the matters of the Mahofu as she would have proceeded to do next.

Having had the spotlight since replying to Hajime's modest appeal would make speaking a little easier, in fact. Ichika seemed to approve as much as she did when they spoke in privately of the matter, 'Good. Hajime was momentarily startled, but recovered in his tea and apparent ponderings. 'Also good.' Kenshin appeared surprised as well, and Ada expected as much of him, but he didn't seem to snap back as easily as his grandfather. However, he still showed his faith and support of her with such an uncomplicated and reassuring reply. Thank you. She mouthed to him as fear of less favorable replies faded from her mind's view. Ada once again looked to Hajime to receive his words on the matter. To her surprise, Hajime saw it as a opportunity as much as she did- despite any lingering apprehension. Ada held a sort of poker face in the form of an expressed appreciation for his approval. She would nod to show her understanding of his wisdom throughout the short lecture, finding his insight to be valuable both as a reminder and as validation that she was approaching the matter in a similar method to the famous Hyuga Lord, Hajime. "Yes, I will remain discrete on the matter. So far, only my birth family and those of us in the room are aware of my lineage. I hope that it may give us an opportunity to forge strong bonds with the mysterious Land of Iron samurai. Personally, I am quite curious of them but will be too busy to personally investigate." This suddenly helped her remember, that she had forgotten something quite important. The small realization gave her pause mid-sip from her teacup and she would say, "Oh... there actually is one other who knows. I just remembered that I have already deployed an agent of my own to investigate the Mahofu in my stead." X had managed to find but only a single, rather improbable clue regarding the culprits who had assaulted and robbed Azayaka a couple weeks ago. Since he was already on route, Ada had filled him in and asked that he learn anything he can about the samurai's culture, laws, politics and so on without causing any problems that would impede his primary objectives. "I trust him to do his job well, and I'll be sure he coordinates with any further agents we may send there." She found it hard to doubt that X would carefully and thoroughly finish his mission. 'Intrigue and plots rot on the vine if they become public knowledge. Is that not saying to not miss an opportunity to use what one has prepared?" Ada momentarily recollected Hajime's just-spoken words and decided that she knew he meant to emphasize discretion as a priority for this valuable information. It seemed more his speed anyhow. Ada denied having any further matters to bring the to the table and was soon led on a tour of Harehoru Estate by his lordship and lady Ichika.

Lady Rio clearly admired the magnificent and might architecture of Harehoru. She could pick out the most minuet details that contributed or even detracted from its structural stability in contrast to its aesthetics. Time had proven that little of the building needed repairs throughout the generations of Hyuga leadership. The Imperial Lightning Hyuga history Hajime spoke of served as a very fresh reminder to her since being privileged with Ichika's thorough, albeit brief, lesson regarding Kenshin's lineage just early that morning in the garden. "Most impressive." She said sincerely and simply, more noting the hint that Hajime most desired male great-grandchildren. This didn't incite any concern but she did understand the expectation. Ada would watch the small army of Hyuga warriors refining their unique fighting form with impressive focus and intent to improve upon themselves. At least, she didn't see any slacking off- especially not in the presence of Lord Hajime or Kenshin. One such warrior would call from the masses to Kenshin and request that he offer time to supervise their progress. Ada smiled at this, keeping quiet toward the matter as she simple fell back into admiration of him. Despite his doubts and unfamiliarity, he was far more charismatic than he believed. It was due to moments like this, and often back in APD Headquarters, that Ada knew he could become even greater than he was ever in the present. Kenshin postponed the requested training, and Ada was just glad that he didn't brush them aside entirely. Perhaps they spent too long speaking before, but she was confident that he could have enough time to at least give them advice or answer their questions. The tour ended soon after and Ada bowed when praised for their meeting. "Likewise, m'lord. I am thankful for today." She would rise then find herself in Ichika's embrace, returning the accepting sentiment to such a kind and noble lady. "Thank you, Ichika. I appreciated seeing your lovely garden this morning. I look forward to seeing you again soon as well." The Lord and Lady of Harehoru retired from the company of Kenshin, Ada and Yui.

As she might have expected of the attendant, Yui was minding their schedule quite well. 'An hour? Yes, that should be about right now.' She confirmed the matter in her thoughts before being brought back to mention of Kenshin's poetic machinations. Ada noted Kenshin's reluctance in how he objected with such unusual meekness. She would comment, "I would love to hear your words, Kenshin." She didn't mean to add to the pressure, but she was honest about the matter. Yui persisted and he would inevitably surrender to his doting teacher's whims. Honestly, Ada could see how Yui did so well at her duties when working with other children. It wasn't that she saw her husband as a child, but she could take a lesson from how Yui overcame even Kenshin's barriers to force him into action. Ada followed Kenshin onto the scenic bridge where he would read the contents of his scroll. Yui, in the meantime, rather poorly concealed her presence nearby to surely observe their private moment for her own satisfaction. Ada already had a strong hunch about the attendant's character, if only from her experience in the APD, but didn't mind since in some ways she reminded her of Selina. Kenshin's admiration, appreciation and adoration were expressed as only Kenshin could, and Ada appeared quite invested in committing each line to memory. She blushed, smiled, and met his gaze when he reached the final lines of his flattering message of commitment to and love for her. Ada softly gasped after the scroll was stowed and her left hand taken gently into her betrothed's considerate grasp. She hadn't even begun to worry about an engagement band from him, but she was quite taken by the gift. The ring's level of detail and the craftsmanship put into the piece was deliberate and breathtaking. Almost reflexively, she uttered a haiku in response his humorously reinvented marriage proposal, A bright horizon, joining of Earth and Heaven, our love eternal." Ada couldn't remove her fixated stare from the saphire the ten finely cut diamonds set into magnetically forged silver. Ada hardly spent a thought hoping she'd never have to use such a treasure for any of her techniques, but it was good to know she could if she absolutely had to. His strong profession of love called her adored sapphire eyes to meet Kenshin's devoted gaze, "I love it, and I love you too." Ada suppressed her surprise when Yui ruined her own cover to eavesdrop before suggesting that Kenshin see to the warriors asking for his instruction earlier. He pulled her in close and she was already raising herself onto the balls of her feet to join their lips when kiss me was said. Her arms supported her while only slightly pulling him down toward her until the moment of passion subsided. She only restrained herself somewhat given the time, place and lack of privacy but such a display was practically a mirrored display of their date together after the gala. 'I will endeavor to make you as happy as you have made me, Kenshin.' She thought to herself and conveyed through her adoring gaze before finally letting him go. Ada watched as he left her, right until he was gone from view.

Yui's resounding approval of her romance with Kenshin was appreciated, but she felt like the woman might be a little too happy for her. All the same, Ada accepted Yui's hug, patting her on the back while replying, "Certainly. Ken expressed himself so well. Expression is fundamental to any art, so I appreciated how him his words were." Ada blushed as several lines linked to the recently imprinted memories played back through her thoughts. Ada refocused when Yui compared her life to that of a novel love story. Rationally speaking, she couldn't deny that some parts of her life were incredibly surreal, if not sometimes uncanny. "I suppose you may be right, Yui." She smiled softly in agreement, met her enthusiastic high five, and continued along with the ensuing conversation. "More than you may know. I find myself filled with awe and confidence whenever he is near. It's hard to think that he was once a mere by-the-books rookie in the KPD... heheh." She'd momentarily recalled their first meeting again then said, "I sometimes wonder what I have done to deserve his affection and loyalty. I... suppose it might simply be a form of showing affection unique to him?" She inquired the thoughts of her heart aloud to Yui, so casually that she herself hadn't realized what she had blurted until it had already been said. Although the question was certainly toned to be rhetorical, Ada felt compelled to clarify, "I mean, I think it might be something like that. I feel it, I think?" She sighed, then took a deep breath to recompose herself once more. 'I have to stop stuttering over how I feel. The free me can speak as she is.' Ada gave herself a very brief emotional pep-talk and thankfully nodded to the topic shifting to talks of Kenshin's inherited looks and the cuteness of their unborn children. She chuckled and replied, "I've no doubt they will be inheriting good traits from us both. I only want them to be healthy and to live honorably." Who they became, what they did, or what they looked like mattered little so long as they could and would live fulfilling lives knowing the love of aiding others with the strength to do so. She quietly also agreed that Kenshin would likely take longer than he anticipated to work with the other Hyuga warriors seeking his tutelage. Hearing a broadly stroked glimpse of Yui's own trials getting to where she was in her own life earned deepened respect from Ada. She asked about her friend, Selina, and Ada gave a very certain response, "If you're asking if Selina's art reflects her as a person, then yes. I believe so. She's a kind soul with a lot of love to share. Yui, you kinda remind me of her in some ways." Ada would chuckle at her jest, not realizing that Yui might be some kind of die-hard Selina Rosewater fangirl or something. She set her hand on Yui's shoulder for a moment at the mention of Kenshin disliking the aspiring singer's voice. Little did she realize that this extended tour was actually a heart-prodding musical ambush. No, she noticed the ones hiding around this particular garden, but she paid them little mind while enjoying Yui's company. 'She's crafty. I won't underestimate that again...' The thought was lost toward the beginning of the number. Honestly, Ada appreciated the choreography and effort that Yui must have gone to pull all of this off. The girl almost seemed to be squandering her gifts as a mere teacher, but it was hard to ignore the happiness found in her chosen career. She followed along with Yui, choosing her positions to best compliment anticipated motions with the conga drummers. As she was the target of the lyrics, she did at least take moments to consider a proper response to expressing her own love for him. 'What should I do. What can I do? What... will I do?' These questions brewed lyrics of her own with each recurring verse. It was as if Yui's song was as motivational as it was also a received challenge to prove herself. Even so, she wondered if love wasn't meant to simply prove itself. Ada applauded generously as she caught up to where Yui's big finale brought her. "That was magnificent! I apologize for joking earlier. I almost feel as though I should introduce you to Selina as soon as possible." Her voice carried evenly over her slowing applause. Her smile was as genuine as ever and she looked back to the conga drummers to give them a thankful nod for their participation. She'd be sure to give the lot of them generous tips for creating such a vibrant memory for her sake. "Everything has been happening so fast..." Ada knelt down then sat beside Yui who was bedded in the flowers, "If I am being truthful, most advances are from him. I have worried that I might be taking his love for granted." Ada paused, glancing about to take in the scenery again. After a pause she said, "My heart tells me that I needn't worry at all." She looked back down at Yui who had been laying beside her and held a joyfully confident and pleasant smile. She again rested her hand on Yui's shoulder, "Your song was lovely, truly it was, but I trust my feelings that his love cannot be weakened. Kenshin knows and trusts in my love as much as I do for him." Ada departed her hand from Yui's shoulder and just smiled plainly as she smelled a small flower she'd picked. Her mind's inner mechanisms were forming a song from the pieces sent from her heart's feelings.
