Name: Kito (formerly Kitori)
Age: 19
Nameday: 3558.09.18
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Weyrling
Previous Rank/Craft: Courtesan (Entertainer)

Physical Description:
A slender built man of 6’2, Kitori takes after his mother in many ways. Lean and willowy, he is a picture of beauty and grace, long-limbed and aware of his every move. He has a love for fabrics that will move with him, capturing the eye, enabling him to steal the show should it be necessary.

With a delicate, lean face, it would be difficult not to call him gaunt if he wasn't so handsome. Bright, sky blue eyes sparkle with the promise of future happiness or mischief. A charming smile may often become a smirk, or a grin- changing to suit his whims or his audience. He is an expressive man, and has no fear of showing it. Long blond hair has been shaved on one side, and dyed violet in part- the man certainly knows how to stand out.

When he can, Kito opts for fancy clothing in shades of violet, lilac and white. Naturally, becoming a Weyrling has put his courtesan life on hold permanently, but he hopes to revive some of his classiness post graduation. Between all of the Threadfighting and the wing drills, you know?

Personality:
A bright and bubbly individual, Kitori is wonderfully gifted when it comes to words and conversing. He possesses magnetic charm, a desire to please that he does not let rule his own personal life, and a deep thoughtfulness for the well-being of others that underlines his interactions with society. He is a real social butterfly, able to change his demeanour to fit the situation as needed, and takes pride in knowing most everybody is satisfied with his presence (can't please everyone, afterall).

Naturally, Kitori has his flaws. His capacity for speech is not mere eloquence- but an ability to chatter endlessly about the most mundane and irrelevant of topics. In fact, Kito has difficulty shutting up. He hasn't quite understood that taking turns in talking is polite, because he could talk your ear off if you're not careful. He's so sociable that sometimes he may appear fake, never really committing to anything or anyone in particular. He may seem airheaded or even silly to some, but Kitori has always enjoyed talking.

His approach to life is whimsical, often lead by his own desires. Whilst he is a thoughtful man when it comes to giving gifts and helping others, he is shallow when it comes to passing judgement: he likes pretty people, and will not give his real heart to the first person who walks by. He is fickle and, at times, self-centred, putting a lot of stock in his reputation as a desirable, vivacious man.

Beneath the courtesan mask he has so finely crafted for himself lies a nomadic spirit; Kitori is restless and yearns for adventure. His lack of commitment to things is tempered by his dutifulness, a trait which sees him discharging his duty with varying amounts of enthusiasm. His family are, of course, his priority: but ever since he Impressed a whole new world has opened up to him, and he has no plans in neglecting or disappointing Auriath.

Positive Trait List Effervescent - Thoughtful - Charming
Negative Trait List: Shallow - Garrulous - Fidgety

History:
Kitori was the second born son of Toskarr and Kiriki, Holdless who roamed the western continent as part of a larger group. Kitori spent a great deal of time taking care of his younger sister Toskarra, two Turns his junior, and learning how to use knives and pickpocket alongside his brothers Tosk and Kitokki. He was never as singularly bloodthirsty as his older sibling, nor was he as creative as his younger brother, but much like his sister he had a silver tongue; a supposed inheritance from his mother, or possibly even his aunt Ada. It wasn't an easy life, but the group did what it could.

It came to an end when Kitori was seven. An ambush went wrong. He'd been playing a little makeshift gitar when his frantic mother ushered them onto a cart and sent them, with nothing but the promise of joining them soon, fleeing towards the closest Hold. Tosk was in charge, as the oldest. He had the capacity to take things in stride without ever seeming to miss a beat. Kitori decided his role would be that of ensuring his younger siblings' health and wellbeing. People were returning to camp with such severe injuries that even he, naive as he was as a child, knew what was happening.

Destination: Rivercrest Hold. Kitori had never seen anything so fancy before. The Hold itself seemed to sparkle. They arrived faster than the news of the failed ambush, which trickled in rumours months afterwards. Nobody gave newly arrived kids much thought in Rivercrest, so Kitori experienced a new sense of freedom he had never had in the cave-base of the Holdless. At first, Tosk instructed them to steal what they needed to survive. Kitori orchestrated a play with his sister, Skarra- the actor within revelling at its first opportunity to perform. Their sweetly soft, melancholic expressions earned them some sympathy, rewarding them with food, board, and the occasional tip of folks looking to hire for honest work.

They eventually had enough for a room, and Tosk took up work as a lookout for a group Kito knew to be smugglers. That wasn't Kito's preferred line of work, and instead he approached a Madam about becoming a dancer or a singer for some of her performances- after all, who wouldn't wanna have such a sweet, proactive kid? She agreed to show him the ropes, though he didn't officially apprentice to the Courtesans until he was 12. There was a lot of dogsbody work involved. As he matured from boy to man, he started gaining some renown as an entertainer, and his Madam considered his future more seriously. Kitori expressed interest in visiting different holds and offering companionship to those who might desire it, but deep down he was reluctant to leave his family. He knew he earned enough to help keep a roof over their heads, but he also worried that they would get into trouble if they did not all stick together. After all, there had been no reports of surviving Holdless all those Turns ago… This was all the family he had left.

Kitori eventually decided to stay, but then Tosk returned home from work one day with an announcement. He had been Searched, and was considering accepting the call. Thread had rained destruction down, and though the siblings were not fond of dragonriders due to the supposed involvement of one during the failed ambush, they knew only dragonriders could protect Pern.

It was Toskarra who encouraged the eldest to go. She had been training as a Harper for some Turns, and was becoming an ambitious individual all her own. Kitori rather suspected that she felt stifled with the overprotective Tosk around. Soon after his departure, a poorly written, barely legible letter arrived stating that Tosk had found their aunt Ada, and that he had also Impressed (to a bronze, of all things)!

Kitori was happy for his brother, but the desire to see the world was growing, making him restless. When Search came again, he found himself staring at the dragon, lost in thought. It was only when the rider approached him about joining the ranks of candidates that Kitori could finally justify his escape.

Candidacy was much different to what he expected, and how he had lived his life so far. The physical side of training was arduous (how come Tosk had never mentioned that in his infrequent letters?). But as Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch hardened, Kitori came to find he enjoyed weyrlife. He did his best to keep his presence a secret from his sibling, whom he occasionally spied from afar, but set about trying to find his aunt.

In due time, Esurienth and Phylideth's clutch hatched. The dragonets were gorgeous, and so full of personality! He marvelled at each arrival, and winced at the bloodyness of it all.

But none are more handsome or spectacular than me, right? Your Auriath?

"Auriath?" Kito puzzled aloud, wondering how the name had slipped into his mind.

Shining rainbow eyes and a gleaming bronze hide sidled closer, peering up at him intently.

Of course. I am your Auriath, and you are my Kito. I couldn't have chosen any other, for I needed one resplendent inside and out.

"Well, thank you." He laid a hand in the dragon's head, a soft and loving smile spreading across his face. Love suffused him, and a wholeness he had never known made him feel full to bursting. He had always been so self-reliant, so… Ready to stand alone. Do his own thing. But now he didn't need to. "I thought the robes were a little drab without the purple sash belt. I'm glad you noticed and appreciated it." Now he had the perfect bondmate- his other half.

DRAGON - - - -

Name: Auriath

Personality:
A passionate soul lives within this shiny creature, fuelled by a desire for love and companionship. He may be particular- some even call him eccentric- due to his fussy, exacting ways, but Auriath means well: he is a charming boy who wants nothing but the best for the world (so long as he gets some of it too, of course).

To those he treasures as friends, family, or even lovers, he will always give them his full attention and as much time as he can spare. He is attentive as a brother and mate, and as a father he would be doting (much like his own). Singular loyalty, if asked, would be given, but Auriath's natural instincts are to share his love, and he may accidentally break hearts in the process. He will take on 'political' causes others find important, but when boredom strikes will abandon them at the first given chance. He is a little flighty in that regard.

He is normally a kind dragon with very little ill-will, but he does enjoy playful teasing and banter. Sometimes he is unaware of crossing lines, and upon discovering that he's upset a loved one, will take it upon himself to bring them gifts and tributes of peace to make amends. He likes to sit in the middle of an argument and antagonise both parties for his own amusement, siding first with one party, then the other- not out of cruelty, but because it is silly to argue, don't you realise that? The sooner they know how stupid they're being, the better.

Auriath is a warm dragon with plenty to offer the world, but with his own peculiarities and eccentricities- especially when it comes to bathing, washing and feeding (it needs to be done just so, or how will he remain resplendent). He will be particular about the females he chases (and the males he might allow to catch him): they must stand out in their own special way. Common folk, stand aside please.

Positive Trait List Ardent - Attentive - Amiable
Negative Trait List Teaser - Devil's advocate - Fussy

Egg Size: Small

Adult Size: 36'

Physical Attributes:
A handsome dragon by draconic standards, Auriath might lean towards the smaller size of the bronze scale, but he is nonetheless quite a sight to behold. Beautiful proportions and a mind set to agile flying make him a wonder in the sky. His form is graceful and lithe, and he moves with measured purpose. His snout is slightly longer than normal, and more tapered, softening his overall expression.

Additional Notes:
His flame tends towards short and accurate bursts, but he sometimes gets carried away and will fire wide. He is a quick and agile flier, but suffers in the endurance department in comparison to other bronzes. Charming, he will pursue dragons who stand out to him in special ways.

Why Me:
Kitori and Auriath are very similar at heart: both fussy, and secretly a little bit vain and snobby, put on Pern to capture attention with their mere existence. They'll be as thick as thieves in their early Weyrling days, encouraging each other to greater standards and heights.

But Kitori will quickly realise that sometimes, Auriath is unkind, especially towards his family… and that's not okay. Kito will be forced to accept a degree of responsibility, maturing in the process, as he clamps down on Auriath's more teasing ways and shows him the importance of loving and devoting one's self to one's family, as he has with his own.

In turn, Auriath will give Kito a reason to commit to things. He will remind the young man that it's okay to have faith in the beliefs of others, and it's okay to love them genuinely and truly. Auriath's ardent passion for life and its affairs will slowly open Kito's eyes to what he's missed out on by remaining privately aloof and unfocused.

They will grow to become more wholesome people in the long run, as long as their ego doesn't get the better of them.
