Custom Evolution Trait [Evo] Contest!
tab Hello, one and all, and welcome to the second of many Custom Content Creation Contests, or the 4C's, as it were, where we turn to the members with promises of riches and rewards to bring in your own content to Shattered Past! From Talent creation to Styles, to Evos, classes and races, the contests will stretch from now till the end of the year in sequence with a number of rewards along the way. Everyone is encouraged to enter as they can, for this guild is truly nothing without the input of its members and crew into a cohesive, dynamic world.
tab This contest will be dedicated to the creation of up to ten [10] Evolutionary Traits, with you as the creator selecting one [1] to put forward for official evaluation in the competition. What are these? Evolutionary Traits, what we call Evos, are alterations of one's character in ways that are hyper specific and unique that grant physical changes, additional powers and/or abilities that go beyond what just a Race gives you, as these are mutations or alterations. These can be something such as a new Element to manipulate, but can also be something like a mechanical turret that pops out of your shoulder blade and opens fire on anything vaguely rabbit shaped! Broken down into two types, these are available to any character who is made, though the costs associated are not the concern of this contest.
tab Before we go into the rules of entries and the rewards for winners, I would like to list the general timeline for the 4C event:
        July 1st to July 7th → Voting for Combat Style Entries
        July 1st to July 16th → Evo Trait Creation Entries
        July 16th to July 23rd → Voting for Evo Trait Creation Entries
        July 16th to August 1st → Prestige Class Creation Entries
        August 1st to August 6th → Voting for Prestige Class Creation Entries
        August 1st to August 16th → Race Creation Entries
        August 16th to August 23rd → Voting for Race Creation Entries
        August 16th to September 1st → Class Creation Entries
        September 1st to September 7th → Voting for Class Creation Entries
        September 1st to September 16th → Demon/Spirit Creation Entries
        September 16th to September 23rd → Voting for Demon/Spirit Creation Entries
        September 23rd to October 1st → Artifact Creation Entries
        October 1st to October 7th → Voting for Artifact Creation Entries
        October 1st to October 16th → Event Creation Entries
        October 16th to October 23rd → Voting for Event Creation Entries
        October 16th to November 1st → Monster Creation Entries
        November 1st to November 7th → Voting for Monster Creation Entries
        November 1st to November 30th → System Alteration/Creation Entries
        December 1st to December 15th → Voting for System Alteration/Creation Entries
        December 16th to January 1st → No contests, just rewards for all of your hard work, and a singular event both In and Out of Character for the final holiday of the year!

tab And now, for the Entry Rules for the Contest!
        • Evolutionary Traits fall into one of two categories: Splicer, and Cranker. The Splicer type are genetic differences that impact nearly anything from Mana to Stamina, whereas the Cranker is mechanical in nature.
        • While Evos in Shattered Past do have a cost, you will not be required to list costs as these will be worked out later based on what you make.
        • You may submit up to ten [10] Evos for a contest. However, by the time the contest ends, before voting begins, you will need to notate which will be your "flagship" Evo which will be used for judging first, second, and third place winners. You will indicate this with the tag [Flagship] next to the title of the Evo.
        • Evos can give access to new spell types, or unique powers, but they do require a balancing act when it comes to what it gives. Meaning, granting "total invincibility" is impossible, but "invincibility" against one type wouldn't break the bank as long as there's a balance elsewhere, such as taking double damage from another type.
        • Evos cannot grant you the same powers a Race already grants.

tab Now, for the rewards!
        1. First Place: Receives $15 in "cash" from guild leadership, or 1 Personal Attribute, and 10 random scrolls/10 Slots of Choice from B to S - rank. 1 Bonus Discipline Point, can be used to purchase existing C - A rank disciplines, or make a custom one. Reward is per character.
        2. Second Place: Receives $10 in "cash" from guild leadership, or 1 Personal Attribute and 1 Discipline Point per Character following above rules. Either of the above may be exchanged for 10 Random Scrolls/10 Slots of Choice from B - S rank.
        3. Third Place: Received $5 in "cash" from guild leadership, or 1 Personal Attribute, or 1 Discipline Point with above rules, or 10 Random Scrolls/10 Slots of Choice per character.

        For Each Additional Entry Beyond the Flagship:
        • Receive either two [2] free "slots" to be divided across all of your character for each additional Evo you make.
        • If you submit a full ten [10] Evos, you may choose to gain one [1] Greater Personal Attribute for one [1] Character, though if you do this you will only receive one [1] slot instead of two [2] as granted from above.

Custom Evo Traits

Evo Name: Thorfinn’s Will [Flagship]
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to magically induce long jump(s) 20 feet and high jump 20 feet, with or without a running start. In addition, the user can also perform a mid-air double jump for about 10 feet. Does not render the user immune to damage taken from falling at high heights.


Evo Name: Surudoi Sight
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user purple eyes, when angry or excited. These eyes grant them a unique spell that fires magic rays from the eyes that inflict pain without physical injury. However, heavy use of this ability can cause blindness.


Evo Name: Mizu Tendrils
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user a prehensile tentacle that inflicts an D-Rank poison on contact. The stronger the user is, the more tentacles can be used, with the maximum being four at A-Rank. This does increase the amount of the pain threshold for the user.


Evo Name: Kuuchuu Sight
Type: Cranker
Description: An artificial eye that is capable of projecting memories as images like a projector on a movie screen.


Evo Name: Jade Fangs
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to spray green venom from their mouth in a 5 yard radius. This venom is D-Rank, and inflicts 20 stamina upon contact.


Evo Name: Hagado Appearance
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to cast a unique Illusion Spell that makes them indistinguishable to their surroundings while motionless.


Evo Name: Demilich Chords
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to cast a sound-based, screaming spell that stun enemies equal to it’s Rank, but renders the user unable to speak for 3 actions.


Evo Name: Vega’s Embrace
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to twist and bend their body as if they didn’t have any bones in the first place, up to 1 foot in any direction


Evo Name: Yochlol Drip
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to produce an yellow, adhesive, sticky slime from their body. This slime has the same durability as a normal weapon.


Evo Name: Mephit Trail
Type: Splicer
Description: Grants the user the ability to shift part/all of their body into smoke, rendering them immune to physical attacks, but take x2 the damage from all spells.

Evo Name: Synesthesia [ Flagship ]
Type: Splicer
Description: Choose one sense. You can perceive things that affect that sense with one of your other senses. (i.e. You can hear pictures, see smells, etc.)

Evo Name: Generic Appearance
Type: Splicer
Description: You are exceedingly average in appearance, making it difficult to pick you out in a crowd. Any effect that would increase or decrease your aggro is reduced in magnitude by [2] (minimumm 0).

Evo Name: Abnormal Features
Type: Splicer
Description: You are incredibly weird to look at, causing you to be immediately memorable to anyone who sees you. Any effect that would increase or decrease your aggro is increased in magnitude by [2].

Evo Name: Flight
Type: Splicer
Description: Suffering mental or physical trauma gives you the overwhelming urge to run. If you are able to run away, the speed of your techniques is increased by half a rank and you must attempt to do so.

Evo Name: Fight
Type: Splicer
Description: Suffering mental or physical trauma gives you the overwhelming urge to destroy your attackers. If you are unable to flee, the strength of your techniques is increased by half a rank.

Evo Name: Complexity of Spirit
Type: Splicer
Description: You gain access to two different sets of Ruler spells. However, you can only learn [2] spells from each of them.

Evo Name: Stress Relief
Type: Splicer
Description: Pick one non-combat activity. You Mana and Stamina regeneration are both increased by one step while engaging in that activity.

Evo Name: Radiance
Type: Splicer
Description: Being exposed to highly radioactive materials makes you stronger. When afflicted by the radiation hazard, the strength of all your techniques is increased by half a rank.

Evo Name: Warped Mind
Type: Splicer
Description: Being pushed causes you to twist and warp at a mental level. Your magical corruption increases by [+5] whenever you get into a highly stressful situation. Your spiritual and magical techniques cost [10] mana less (minimum [5] mana) if your mental corruption is above 25. If your mental corruption is above 90, your spiritual and magical techniques are treated as if they were fueled by corruption instead of mana.

Evo Name: Warped Body
Type: Splicer
Description: Being pushed causes your body to twist and warp. Your physical corruption increases by [+5] whenever you get into a highly stressful situation. Your simple techniques cost [10] stamina less (minimum [5] stamina) if your physical corruption is above 25. If your physical corruption is above 90, your simple techniques are treated as if they were fueled by corruption instead of stamina.

Evo Name: Wolf Dreams
Type: Splicer
Description: As the name might suggest, Wolf Dreams is something a person can do while they are asleep. While asleep, the person's mind drifts into the mind of either a nearby animal or an animal that the user has a bond with. Normally, the user is simply a passive observer of the world through the eyes of the animal and they can feel what the beast feels, and as the person becomes more attuned with their abilities, they can even get an inkling into the thoughts of the creature. Wolf Dreams is the weakest of the types of warging abilities and happens unconsciously, although it is a necessary precursor for all other forms of warging. In addition, it is the only one that doesn't require the user be conscious of what is going on and unless they know they possess the ability to warg, they might just think what they experience are vivid dreams which they remember perfectly. If the user only has Wolf Dreams, they cannot fine-tune their abilities until they come to the realization that the "dreams" are in fact real. Like all other warg skills, its considered to be a 'soft' ability as opposed to a 'hard' ability, meaning that there are no techniques to be learned, and instead, the ability is trained as if it was a skill, with different tiers of mastery having different thresholds of power.

Evo Name: Beast Sight
Type: Splicer
Description: The next step up from Wolf Dreams is Beast Sight. Wargs that are strong enough with their power are able to break the barrier of the unconscious and partially control their psychic abilities. Very intuitive from its name, Beast Sight allows the warg to do the same thing as Wolf Dreams, but while awake and at will. The user's body remains defenseless while the user inhabits the mind of the animal. Like all other warg skills, it's considered to be a 'soft' ability as opposed to a 'hard' ability, meaning that there are no techniques to be learned, and instead, the ability is trained as if it was a skill, with different tiers of mastery having different thresholds of power.

Evo Name: Warg [Flagship]
Type: Splicer
Description: The ability to Warg is what sets these individuals apart from other people. Wargs have the ability to have and control their Wolf Dreams as well as simple beast sight, but Wargs are also able to control the creature in question, first for a short amount of time, and later for even days at a time. They are able to change from one beast and back to themselves with ease. However, if the user changes the creature they warg with, their warging is considered to be a tier weaker. When warging, the user leaves a part of themselves in the animal, making subsequent wargs easier but after some time warging with the same creature, the user takes some of the creature back with them, adopting some of its behavioral traits. Warging into a human body is impossible, though attempting it is extremely painful to both the one attempting the warging as well as the would-be host because two human-level consciousnesses cannot co-exist in the same body. If the body the user's mind is inhabiting while warging dies, the user's consciousness returns to their body, although the person feels the death as if it was their own. Like all other warg skills, its considered to be a 'soft' ability as opposed to a 'hard' ability, meaning that there are no techniques to be learned, and instead, the ability is trained as if it was a skill, with different tiers of mastery having different thresholds of power.

Evo Name: Skinwalker
Type: Splicer
Description: The Skinwalker is the most powerful of the wargs. They possess the same power as the wargs, but as they grow in their power, they are able to split their consciousness into multiple creatures at once based on their power tier. While no one has reached these heights in recent memory, the most powerful Skinwalker was said to be able to inhabit six creatures at once: five animals and his own body. Because of the sheer force, it takes the user to shatter their consciousness like the way it is required for a skinwalker to inhabit more than one body at once, the death of one of the hosts symbolizes the death of that part of the person's consciousness, resulting in a penalty to either the person's mana stat or intelligence stat.
