Name: Eloise
Age: 26
Nameday: 3550.10.04
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Weyrling
Previous Rank/Craft: Journeyman Harper
Physical Description:

Eloise keeps her mop of curls cut short to frame her delicate features with an auburn bob. Thin brows sit above large, hazel eyes and a smile often tugs at her heart-shaped lips. A dusting of freckles adorns her cheeks and splays across the defined bridge of her nose as well as her shoulders- becoming more pronounced with long stretches in Rukbat’s light. Not particularly tall nor short, she keeps a trim figure through the activities of a wingrider and the additional joy of running. While not flat-chested, she also isn’t particularly buxom, but Eloise wouldn’t have it any other way. She’s confident in herself and that light shines through an otherwise average figure to radiate a certain magnetism.

Personality:

Eloise is a very sensual person, taking simple joy in the taste of a fresh mug of klah, the sensation of the gentle brush of a silk shirt, the smell of the earth after it rains, the sight of glorious colors at sunset, and the sound of Actiath’s wingbeats during flight. This sensuality mixes with a passionate nature to result in impulsiveness. She’ll often make split-second decisions or do what she finds most interesting or desirable in any given moment to mixed effects. In love with life itself and determined to live hers to the fullest each and every day, she has seen first-hand that any number of circumstances can end one’s life prematurely and she has no intentions of letting even one day go to waste! For this reason she tends to come off as self-centered; she has an unfortunate tendency to put her own interests first and often lacks the empathy to see how such selfishness can impact others. However, this zest for life also makes her great fun to be around as there’s rarely a dull moment in her company.

Her passionate nature is particularly evident when she is angered, as Eloise will often respond to slights with a quick temper or seeming merciless and determined when pursuing those guilty of more serious wrongs against her or those she cares for. In romantic pursuits she is no less passionate. She sees relationships as another avenue for enjoyment and lacks the desire to put in enough effort to sustain any one relationship for a significant length of time. Eloise expresses her passions through her art, with a curious mind that lends itself to exploring the world and personalities around her through careful study. Her perfectionism can lead to creative endeavors taking significantly longer than expected or the complete abandonment of a project, but her exacting standards also lead to exceptional results. Which is just as well, given the scarcity of the materials used. She has an adept mind with an attention to detail that led to her excelling in portraiture and the landscapes Holders would commission. This curiosity and close observation extends beyond the realm of visual art, however. Eloise is very inquisitive, curious about the going-ons of the Weyr; honestly she adores gossip and rumors, often good-naturedly teasing her friends with what is happening in their lives.

Positive Trait List Creative, Sensual, Curious
Negative Trait List Spontaneous, Perfectionist, Self-Centered

History:

As unusual as it is for the child of a bluerider and lower caverns worker, Eloise not only knew who her parents were, but was closely cared for by her mother in the lower caverns of Western Weyr and frequently visited by her father. Her parents had eyes only for each other, and when Eloise was four her mother fell pregnant again. She was delighted by the idea of having a younger brother or sister and eagerly anticipated her sibling’s arrival shortly after her fifth nameday. Tragedy lay before the young girl when the birth proved complicated- her mother and sibling were lost to her. This sudden loss shook her whole world and Eloise withdrew into herself- falling quiet as she was fostered out to Western Weyr’s creche, too much for her father’s hands alone with his responsibilities as a rider. One astute crecheworker thought to give this grief-stricken child a hide and charcoal nub, and through them Eloise found an avenue to healing.

With the passage of time, the pain of losing her mother and sibling began to fade. Being surrounded by the other lively weyrbrats of Western’s creche helped to bring her out of the shell, and with time she was able to rediscover herself in the arms of this new family. Her spontaneity and generally gregarious personality garnered her friendship with her peers easily enough, but her curiosity pointed her towards the harpers assigned there. Enraptured with their work, she could lose herself for hours in the stories told, songs sung, and artworks created. At twelve turns old, she entreated one such harper to take her on as an apprentice in his craft- and having shown that she had a natural sense for the principles of art and a keen eye, he agreed to take her back to Fort Hold.

Her apprenticeship passed rather uneventfully- she learned, studied, and practised some more, traveling to various holds under the tutelage of senior Journeymen to observe the finer points of the Harpercraft until she was able to walk the tables herself. She found herself lucky enough to land an assignment at Whitecliff Weyrhold and found endless inspiration walking its grounds. Then Thread fell and her world erupted into chaos. With so many of the dragonmen returning to Western, Eloise begged one to take her with them. She had to know if her father and those she had grown up with had survived. So many had been lost, but Eloise discovered that her father, having been maimed horribly by Threadscore, had survived and sought respite at Whitecliff. They returned to the Weyrhold together and Eloise found herself rekindling the relationship with her father that had waned in the turns since they had lost her mother. He was far from the same confident bluerider she remembered him as, frustrated with himself for the injuries he and His had sustained and seeking purpose in the wake of this forced grounding. The trials of these times instilled in her- even more strongly- that life needed to be savored whilst it was still in your grasp- as it could change faster than one could blink. She sought to help many of the riders in her father’s position through art, it had helped her as a child to process her grief, and she knew it could help these lost riders to heal mentally and emotionally.

In the turns since Thread returned she’s found herself frequenting Western Weyr. The riders she worked with at Whitecliff often had reason to visit, and one such occasion was the hatching of Esurianth and Phyildeth's clutch. She sat in the stands with them, fervently sketching the moments of Impression taking place before her, with the goal of painting a resplendent scene to commemorate the hatching. A soft, sweet voice the likes of which she had never heard before interrupted her observations, ‘Mine, put down that silly hide- your Actiath is hungry.’ Slack-jawed, the charcoal stylus fell from Eloise’s hand as her eyes met those whirling rainbows of the lanky green keening for her on the Sands below.

Having been a weyrbrat, Eloise found herself falling easily into the life of a Weyrling. Although it hadn’t been a future she’d considered, Eloise couldn’t imagine a life without Actiath now, and her rather spontaneous nature lent itself well to the sudden shift from the life of a harper.

DRAGON
Name: Actiath
Age: Esurianth x Phyildeth's Clutch, 3576.05.02
Color: Green
Size: Will grow to be 54’ in adulthood
Physical Description: Since her first moments on the Sands, Actiath has been long and lean. As a Hatchling that led to her coming off as gangly and clumsy, but as a Weyrling she’s growing into her proportions with improved grace and now appears more lithe. She moves with unexpected delicacy for Green so uncharacteristically large, reflecting her demure nature.
Personality: Intuitive, Demure, Adaptable

Surprisingly meek for so large a green, Actiath is a “gentle giant” as it were. Determined not to intimidate other greens, and especially not whites, by her size- her movements are reserved and that translates to her personality as well. She’ll happily sit by as others take the lead, being comfortable with taking orders when they are given by a sound mind, and eager to live up to her duty to her Weyr.

Actiath is one to trust her instincts and puts faith in her first impression of those she meets. Generally a good judge of character, this has served her well so far- but can make it difficult to overcome an initial mis-judgment or floundered first encounter. She does tend to keep these judgements to herself and Hers, lacking the desire to chat and gossip as Eloise does. There’s a quiet fierceness to this dragon, and though she may be quiet as a mirror-surfaced lake, she also has the tenacity and adaptability of a swiftly-flowing stream.

Hello hello!

First and foremost, Eloise is a bit too Terran of a name. However, that can be remedied! 'Ehloize' or 'Elohise' would both be acceptable alternatives and still give you a similar sound!

If her father had been injured at Western, he would have returned there to be treated. Though Whitecliff is a 'weyrhold', Though Whitecliff is considered a Weyrhold, that just means that they are prepared to house a small number of dragons. She could have asked one of the riders at Whitecliff to check on her father and, having found out he was injured, asked for permission to see him. The Weyrs are pretty strict and don't allow people to come and go as they please, even before Thread returned!

Riders from Whitecliff wouldn't really have a reason to go to Western, so as to how she could have attended the Hatching... As a Journeyman, she could have been invited to assist with the entertainment during the Hatching Feast, and surprise! Actiath had other plans. Or is her name Lunath? The title and application say two different things, so I wasn't quite sure!

After those changes, everything looks good!
