tab One of the last functional remnants of the military apparatus that was Sunagakure. Back when the Radiant Wastes were known as the Land of Wind and ruled by powerful shinobi, several outposts were built along the country's borders with the River, Rain, and Earth countries. These outposts served primarily to shore up the Land of Wind's defenses and deter their rivals from striking at Sunagakure during times of turmoil. These outposts were constructed to stand well above the waves of sand, to weather any assault.
tab Time and a lack of upkeep reduced them to ruins in a matter of years. The vicious winds and shifting sands wore away at the edifices of the outposts, grinding most of them into dust and leaving the few that remained as empty shells. For all their boasts of security, strength, and durability in the face of any possible onslaught, Sunagakure's outposts fell without even a whisper as soon as the crystallizing disease took hold. By the time there were any Wakeners from the Land of Wind, all but one of these outposts was reduced to a pile of rubble.
tab This is that last outpost. Situated at the Land of Wind's northeastern border with the Land of Rain, this outpost survived purely because of the mild weather in the area. Gradually this outpost was rebuilt by the former denizens of Sunagakure, though with its traditional enemies absent it now serves as a stop for nomads and traders. It is now known as the Wind Shadow Outpost, or "The Kazekage's Outpost" for those from the old Sand Village.

tab • Green Ramparts - The ramparts that surround the outpost. Recent generations have painted them green to make them stand out more against the barren lands of the Radiant Wastes.
tab • Barracks - A set of barracks that has been converted to an inn. There's no privacy, but the beds are better than sleeping on the ground.
tab • The Last Flag - A flag bearing the insignia of the fallen Wind Country. The flag is flown high every day and night and is promptly replaced should it go missing. Many a Wakener from the old Land of Wind has been known to tear up at the sight of this fragile piece of cloth.

tab • Defensive Walls - Large stone walls that surround the outpost. They’re resistant to physical damage, being able to shrug off up to B-Rank attacks with only minor damage. Siege weapons are stationed at key points along the walls, but lack of upkeep has turned them into little more than fancy ornaments.
tab • Falling Slurry - Rain from the northeast meets with the sandstorm in the southwest to create a thick, mudlike form of weather affectionately referred to as “slurry”. Walking in a slurry storm drains 5 stamina per post and prevents stamina regeneration. For every 3 posts spent traveling through the area, roll a 10-sided die. On a roll of 1-4, the skies clear; on 5-8, the weather changes to slurry; on 9 or 10, a slurry thunderstorm rolls through, draining 10 stamina instead of the typical 5 from anyone caught in it.
tab • Dry Lilypad - A lilypad-like plant that grows in areas where slurry gathers. Whenever the weather clears, clusters of these plants spit the sand they’ve taken in from the last storm, creating a momentary hail of sand bullets that deals D-Rank damage at B-Rank speed to everyone within 5 meters.

tab • Lily Bullets - This material appears to be a polished sandstone. In this form, it is highly resistant to impacts but cannot be worked. Dissolving it in water separates the sand from the gel that holds it together. This gel can be used like a lotion to fortify one’s endurance, negating drain of up to 10 stamina due to environmental factors. Adds stamina-fortifying effects to alchemical mixtures.
