tab Tucked away in the Kyde Mountains south of the nomad lands is a small village of Azhura. Their village, sheltered as it is from the winds and the sands of the open desert, is home to perhaps the physically healthiest individuals in the entirety of the Radiant Wastes. This is, of course, due to their isolation, as they avoid venturing very far north if they can help it. The only notable times when they do are their trips to the Plates of Folhat and the city of Bahn. The former marks one's transition to adulthood, and the latter is mainly reserved for weddings and significant religious events. Thus it is that they've remained isolated from the toxic storms that sweep the rest of the country.
tab As a people, the Azhura inhabitants of Kyde Village are seen as strange to the other Azhura. They have managed to domesticate a large number of the local fauna and treat them similar to livestock, a feat which is especially noteworthy when one considers just how many of the local animals--such as the giant scorpions, manhunting snakes, and noxious salamanders common to desert--are outright hostile to other groups. But, beyond that, what makes them strange is how much they limit themselves in every aspect of their lives: they do not grow food in abundance, they do not increase their own population, they do not readily accept outsiders into their fold, they do not venture into the desert, they do not speak the common tongue amongst themselves, they do not write, they do not sing, they do not face south when praying. Every Azhura living in Kyde has its left-facing mouth stitched shut to prevent it from speaking.
tab To the south of Kyde Village is the Lake of Thousands and the ruins surrounding it. The dam is a fairly common place for villagers to visit, as it offers an abundant supply of freshwater, edible plants, and fish. The ruins beyond are sometimes used as shelter, especially by travelers. The Azhura here don't particularly mind this fact, but steer clear of the area themselves, preferring to send their slaves if possible. When they must visit the city ruins themselves, they take care to bathe before and after the trip and will reapply the stitches on their third mouth after returning. The exact reason for this is unclear, but is presumably related to the catastrophe that split the city long ago.

tab • Village Square - Being a fairly small village, most buildings are arranged around a large, open area. There are a few wells here and visitors will usually camp out in the middle. This is also where traders set up shop.
tab • Stables - Tucked away behind a rocky outcrop on the northern side of the village is a large collection of farms. Various creatures endemic to the region are raised here for food and/or labor. The exact ownership of each farm isn't well-defined, but social norms maintain that specific Azhura families are ultimately responsible for taking care of all of a certain type of livestock. All proceeds from any sales or work performed by a particular type of livestock will go to the family associated with it. Every two months there is a day of feasting where all Azhura families provide food and drink to repay the other families for any incidental usage of their livestock that wasn't already paid off.
tab • Spice Farm - This area is known in the culinary world for producing some of the strangest and most potent seasonings in the world. Nowhere is this more evident than in a cluster of houses where peppers and other exotic plants are grown on every available outdoor surface. These houses are collectively called the “Spice Farm”.

tab • Town Constabulary - A posse of law enforcement officers picked from the various households that run the livestock farms. They collectively respond to threats, often alongside the signature creature their house looks after. While not much on their own, once paired with their creature of choice a constable becomes a force to be reckoned with.
tab • Livestock - While technically under the control and ownership of people, the creatures raised by the Azhura are still monstrous in nature. It’s advised visitors don’t treat this as a petting zoo.

tab • Eggshell Chili - A maroon chili grown, dried, and sold in Kyde Village and nowhere else. They are renowned for having a soft, mildly sweet flavor that isn’t overpowered by the heat of its seeds, which is impressive considering how hot some of them can be. Something in the soil--or perhaps the water--gives them a flavor unique even among plants in the same strain, as efforts to grow them elsewhere have yielded markedly less flavorful peppers.
