Heading to the Entertainment District once Reina had permission from her sensei, she would find a contact that would assist her with learning about the Monster Hunters and the process to become a Slayer and Tamer.

Entering the academy grounds, Reina would allow her large axolotl Toradora to gulp down some water, as she overheard the graduation exams taking place for Tao and Dabi. She had noted that there was another student, Syun-ho whomst seemed to be alone. Not being the introverted type, Reina immediately walked over to her and sat right next to her. "You know, that should be us. I'm Reina. That's some pretty art piece you're making there. I wish I could do that!" Her expression and energy gave off one that could only be described as wishing to be involved or perhaps she wanted to graduate too? Why didn't any of the senseis see this?
Was this what she would have to face as well? Without trying to interrupt the events happening, she would call out encouragingly, "You're doing great. Go get those sheets!" Reina hadn't really interacted with her peers at the academy as much, being a bit older than the average student. But, she knew when to be supportive of her peers and when to provide extra energy and pep to what she's doing. "That should be us. Why don't we show the others how it's really done?" Reina would gently pat Syn-ho on the head as she stood up and beckoned her axolotl forward to meet her at Coach.
Motioning the teachers with a wave, Reina approached the one known as Coach. "I'm not sure who I should talk to but, perhaps I'm supposed to be chasing after a sheet too. And maybe that one there! Unless there's a different task for us?" She would turn to Syn-ho and wave at her in a large obnoxious wave wished seemed to be saying 'come over here'. If I'm going to be in leadership one day, the least that I can do is make a friend or two before graduating. And maybe we can graduate together.
Anyone who looked at Reina would notice she was quite fetching to the eyes, her long hair drawn back in a single clean black ponytail standing at 5'4'' and 137lbs she was also quite top heavy as her most obvious feature. Even more remarkable was her tamed exotic pet Toradora, which was of the rarest red-fluorescent coloring. Toradora seemed to nuzzle Reina's leg, as it bellowed in a sort of ancient drawn-out froggy voice, "Mistress, is it even fair for you to be participating... You always... win."

tab Confined within recesses of the academy's library, Shikataro sat alone at a table covered in various scrolls. He had hoped to have spent his morning studying taijutsu but after having no luck in locating an instructor who could work with him, he fell back on the only other thing he could do: study. While this method of learning had somewhat of a bitter taste to the aspiring shinobi, even he couldn't argue with its effectiveness, as he was able to absorb the information like a sponge. At least he was able to pick the subject of his studies in this instance, unlike his past experiences in academics. And so, Shikataro continued pouring over the scrolls that laid before him.

tab Opening the scroll he had procured on an introductory to doton, Shikataro began with the most basic of earth techniques: Rock Throw. It was a straight forward jutsu. Through the use of chakra, a person can mold a handful of earthen material into hardened stone. Then, as the name implied, this stone could be used as a thrown projectile. Crude, but effective.[Learned: Rock Throw Technique]
tab Next, Shikataro read up on the Stone Bracers jutsu. As someone interested in hand to hand combat, this technique was of particular interest to him. While he absolutely planned to be the one dishing out the blows in a fight, it never hurt to have a bit of defense on one's side. There would also be situation s where he would need to defend himself from ranged attacks. Thus, being able to form a bit armor for himself would be useful in a pinch. [Learned: Stone Bracers]
tab Moving along, the next technique that Shikataro came across was the Earth Military Movement Technique. Continuing a previous line of thought, he could definitely see this jutsu coming in handy in circumstances where he needed to close the gap between himself and a ranged opponent. It could also come in handy should he ever want to get the drop on someone. "Or should I say, drop someone." he chuckled to himself quietly. [Learned: Earth Military Movement Technique]
tab The last technique held within the scroll was Swift Earth. Upon his initial reading, it seemed to Shikataro that his jutsu was meant to slow down encroaching enemies, reducing the speed at which they could move along the ground. At first, this didn't sound particularly appealing to the young shinobi, as he always wanted to be in punching range of his opponent's face when in a fight. However, as he thought about it, a curious thought came to mind. If the technique could slow down his enemies' approach, could it conversely speed up his own charge towards them? He'd have to test his theory out sometime. [Learned: Swift Earth]
tab Having concluded his study of doton techniques for the time being, Shikataro shifted his focus to maruton. The first technique he came across was the Shadowing Stealth Technique. By coating their body in chakra, the user was able to make themselves less likely to draw attention to themselves. This was certainly a jutsu that belonged in any shinobi's arsenal. After all, stealth was a key part to being an effective ninja so a technique that made people less likely to notice you was incredibly valuable. Shikataro also wondered if it could help him out if he ever decided to sneak out after curfew.[Learned: Shadowing Stealth Technique]
tab The second technique Shikataro read up on was the Clone Technique. One of the most basic of jutsu's this was a skill that all shinobi knew how to do. Through the use of a single hand sign, the user could create a precise copy of themselves. Unfortunately, without the ability to interact with objects or even take specific orders, the technique was little more than a party trick. The only use Shikataro could really think of was causing a bit of confusion when rushing an opponent, but even then it didn't seem like something he'd make use of too often. tab The next technique listed in the scroll was the Transformation Technique. Like the clone technique, this was a basic technique that every shinobi was expected to know. However, whereas the clone technique didn't hold much interest for Shikataro, he could see the value in this jutsu. A key part of being a shinobi was being able to blend into their surroundings. While sometimes this could mean donning camouflage to match their environment, it could also mean blending into a certain group of people. Thus, the ability to change one's physical appearance was essential. [Learned: Transformation Technique]
tab Speaking of camouflage, the next technique Shikataro looked into was the Magic Cloak of Invisibility Technique. Perhaps the counterpart to the Transformation Technique, this jutsu allowed the user blend into their surroundings and hide themselves from those around them. However, the only downside to the technique was that it required a piece of cloth large enough to cover the user, something Shikataro didn't exactly carry on him at all times. Still, if circumstances were ever right, it certainly wouldn't be a bad technique to have in his back pocket. [Learned: Magic Cloak of Invisibility Technique]
tab Skipping ahead a bit, Shikataro read up on the Escaping Skill. While such a feat could potentially be accomplished with natural skill, it was Interesting to find that there was also a jutsu that could help one escape from bindings. Through the use of chakra, one could slip loose of ropes and other ties and without having to worry about injuring oneself. As someone who greatly valued the freedom of movement, this was definitely a skill Shikataro would do well to remember. [Learned: Escaping Skill]
tab The final technique Shikaro chose to look over was the Substitution Technique. Another basic jutsu, this was an essential skill for any shinobi to know. When under attack, the user could quickly swap places with a nearby object, having it take the blow in their place. Of course, being as tough as he was, Shikataro wasn't worried about taking a hit here or there. However, maybe one day he'd find himself in a pinch where it'd be better to dodge rather than block.[Learned: Substitution Technique]
tab Concluding his study session, Shikataro let out a sigh as he sank back into his chair. 'What now?' he began to ponder, feeling the grips of boredom already beginning to take hold of him. Deciding he could do with a bit of fresh air, he got up from his seat and made his way over to a nearby window. Looking out into the courtyard, he spotted a group of students gathered around one of the instructors. 'Huh? Looks like they're all preparing for some sort of exam or something.' he thought. Resting his elbows upon the windowsill, Shikataro set his chin in his palm as he continued to watch. 'Wonder when I'll be ready to graduate from this place?'

Kotone and Iori both disappeared into the woods, leaving Coach with the remaining students. As soon as the Genin disappeared, more possible graduates would wander into the area. Had the man forgotten to label the area as a testing site? Oh well, if more students wanted to graduate, who was he to say no. Coach gave Reina a wide grin as he placed his hands on his hips. โWhy certainly! In fact!โ The man, despite his large and hulking size, disappeared in a blur of motion. In the same breath, Coach reappeared right behind Shikataro and hoisted the boy up by the back of his shirt. โYouโre coming, too, pipsqueak!โ
He blurred back to his original spot and unceremoniously dumped the Nara on the ground. โSo originally it was just Dabi and Tao, but weโre gonna expand the groups. So the squad going after the blonde girl, Kotone, will be: Dabi, Shikataro, and Syun-Ho. That means Reina and Tao are to go after Iori. You haveโฆ eight more minutes to prepare with your squad before going out into the wilderness. Show us what you got, kids!โ
As she jumped from branch to branch, Kotone placed her paper scrap on the branch she crouched on. She wiped a bead of sweat from her brow just as Iori came up behind her. โHey! You ready?โ She asked with a grin. Kotone rose to her feet and quickly snapped some thin wire from its spool. โMaybe we should spread out a bit, yeah? I donโt want you to get caught up in the explosions.โ She added with a wink. Kotone picked up her red paper and generated chakra through it. Just a little, enough to generate the script of Fuuin across the surface. โTen minutes isnโt a lot of time for prep.โ She groaned, rolling her eyes to the sky. โI can do some simple traps, so itโll have to do. What about you?โ

Coach grabbing Dabi by his collar confused the boy, but he didnโt try and fight as the Chunin dragged him along, feet dragging against the ground. Instead, he only offered an enthusiastic โYes sirโ as they approached their destination. He seemed to listen intently as the instructions for this test were given. Nodding fervently with every word. Coach gave the signal to start the test and Iori and Kotone disappeared into the wilderness. Dabi, in response, took up a ready stance so that he could launch into the thicket after the 10 minutes had passed, but the arrival of more individuals caught his attention.
Dabi turned to scope out the new arrivals, andโฆโฆ Instantly forgot why he was there in the first place. Coach snagged a straggler and returned to the group to revise the rules of this test. Dabi looked from side to side, trying to find Shintaro and Syun-ho. Coach finished speaking, and Dabi raised his hand. โSir! What exactly are we doing?โ He paused for a second before adding an additional question. โWhy do we have to wait 8 minutes before going into the wilderness?โ Another pause before a third question escaped his lips. โAnd who are these people?โ It would be easy to mistake his line of questioning as probing for some extra information for the benefit of those who weren't present for the initial instructions of the test, but his expression showed a completely sincere ignorance of the last few minutes.
Passive Effects: โฑโฐโฑ Boy in the Bubble | No matter the context it is being used in, whenever Dabi begins molding or using his chakra in any fashion, his sweat glands begin to release water (not sweat) in the form of lightweight bubbles that expand on his skin and rise into the air. โฑโฐโฑ Black Lightning | Raiton techniques are black in color, have disintegrative properties, and impart full body paralysis equal to the rank of the technique if 10 chakra is added to the black lightning per rank. Ranton techniques become naturally paralytic at no extra cost. โฑโฐโฑ Conductive Destruction | Ranton users are masters of their elements so one Raiton and one Suiton ninjutsu can be self-Koraboed for only one offensive activation. This ability can only be used once per three posts. If both Raiton and Suiton techniques are used in the same post then they are all reduced by 5 chakra per rank of the technique.

What a day! Iori hadn't thought they would suddenly just be thrown into the middle of an already hectic schedule, but here they were, now acting as a guide for some academy students who were ready to go and find themselves in a penultimate test of who would pass and who would fail. Good thing they had passed a long time ago since they first came to Tanigakure. Iori landed on the same branch as their explosive friend and quietly gave a nod in response to her question. While not the best at actual teaching, some reasons more obvious than others, Iori still was excited to see what they could do in order to prove themselves.
Kotone joked about getting caught up in her explosions as Iori snickered to themself. It wouldn't be the first time that they had ended up being a pillow for the girl, so if worse came to worse, they could have some minor resistance. She moved onto fiddling a bit with her fuuninjutsu while Iori watched. It had always been an interest in observing how others molded their chakra to fiddle with their many abilities. They watched in silence before Kotone asked about what they could do as Iori looked at the trees across from them as a mischievous smirk came over their face. With a careful finger, they motioned over the solid surface before standing on the branch to balance themselves. After a short while of preparation, Iori would cast a few hand signs and jumped towards the target. In midair, their body would begin to glow a faint lavender color, before being totally enveloped in chakra as they neared the tree. Just when it was about to make impact, Iori's body would phase through the tree, as if nothing had been there.
It was than that silence came between Kotone for a while. All alone with her only conversation partner gone missing. It wasn't long after that some ruffling in the tree above would take place. A second later, Iori popped up in front of Kotone, upside down as they smiled and flicked her nose playfully.
Reina seemed confused about what was going on, noticing she had been included in some kind of graduation ritual. Nodding to Coach, she moved into the group with Shikataro. "So, what exactly are we doing? I'm confused." Reina seemed to be like deer with headlights, generally lost. "I'll work with whoever and do whatever. Let's do this!" She was supportive of the group dynamic and mold. Unsure of her role in this evolving situation, Reina would wait for further instruction.

Syun-ho continued to enjoy the solitude of her work as the others would get ready for their little test. She had learned some small amounts of shinobi knowledge back during her time spent in class in between doodling in her notebook and getting scolded in her daily reviews for her attention being elsewhere. Her brush danced across the surface of the pages while a trail of raven black ink followed in its wake. Her ink container, located on her hip but removed to allow more of an ease of access, was still at about half capacity even with her many days of scribbling in class.

Syun-ho had been totally engrossed in her many musings on paper when a pair of feet had caught her attention. She followed the length up of the silhouettes leg before finding herself looking up at a woman with dark hair that shared her own gaze in return. The girl didnโt know what to engage her with. She had just wanted to practice her drawings in the field before one of the instructors had come and then chosen to interrupt with an academy test. There was a pretty lengthy bit of time before sheโd break the silence herself. "You know, that should be us. I'm Reina. That's some pretty art piece you're making there. I wish I could do that!"
Syunho blinked and looked back down at her drawing while an expression of confusion was sewn onto her face. It wasnโt drastically good artwork but mere scribbles of her sketching the crowd that had once been a landscape practice. "Uh thank you." she said, "Iโm not good like anyone else though." They sat and watched the group of students walk about while then chiming in with, "That should be us. Why don't we show the others how it's really done?" Syunho looked surprised at the idea. She wasnโt really suggesting that the two of them get involved in this, was she? She wanted to revolt against such an idea but something about the way that Reina had looked at her filled the girl with a wavering confidence. After slowly reaching down to clean up her space, Syunho stood up and hesitantly presented herself to Reina. "O-Okayโฆ" The two made their way to the boisterous instructor and pleaded their case to join the fun. The man didnโt seem to mind them joining the fun much. "Why certainly! In fact! So originally it was just Dabi and Tao, but weโre gonna expand the groups. So the squad going after the blonde girl, Kotone, will be: Dabi, Shikataro, and Syun-Ho. tab Shikataro watched from afar as the others made their preparations for the exam. That is, until he suddenly felt himself being hoisted up by the back of his collar. "What the-!" The next thing he knew, he was down in the court yard with the group he'd been observing just moments ago. Before he could even question what had happened, he felt the man's grip release, causing to let out a small groan as he plopped onto the ground. "Jeez. Give a guy a warning if you're gonna teleport him. Seriously." he grumbled. Whether it was because the man didn't hear him or simply didn't care, Shikataro's grievances seemed to fall upon deaf ears. And so, with a sigh of frustration, he picked himself up off the ground and took a brief moment to dust himself off before joining the other to listen to the man's explanation for the exam.
tab Once the man was finished with his speech, a devilish grin formed on Shikataro's face. "So all I gotta do to graduate from this place is snatch a piece of paper off some girl? Piece of cake." he said confidently. Perhaps a little too confidently. While the exam may have been straight forward to him though, it seemed another student in the group was struggling with the uptake, asking about why they were there, what they were doing, and who everyone was. You know, all the things the instructor just very clearly explained to them all. 'Jeez. This guy must be some special brand of idiot.' he thought, shaking his head. He didn't have time to worry out the shortcomings of others though. If he was going to pass this exam, he knew it would have to be on his own merit and no one else. And so, instead of using their prep time to get to know his teammates or strategizing like they were supposed to be doing, he instead chose to begin stretching and warming up his body, preparing himself for the task of chasing down their target.

She felt like she was going to die. Huh, maybe that was because she was literally dying. It was honestly hard to tell. All Hikaru knew was that she was regretting every decision in her life that could have possibly led to this moment and the following minutes of agony she would need to endure.
Holding her breath, as if that would do her any good, she nibbled a bit more on the white snakeroot plant held in her hand. The girl wasn't crazy or stupid. Promise. This was just a necessary step on the path to mastering Harmonic Death Arts. In a few minutes, her body would grow accustomed to the poison she was introducing into her body, and she'd be able to make use of it in the deadly fighting style. If all it cost her was a few minutes of intense pain and discomfort, then it would be worth it... probably.
Ah, great. Had Hikaru gone bipolar, or was that just all the poisonous plants she'd been consuming? One minute regretting her decisions and the next thinking it might be worth it. That certainly made her FEEL crazy. Or at least it would, if she could feel anything through the pain. Instead, she vomited, leaning heavily against a nearby tree in the forest she'd decided to do this in.
She was grateful when, minutes later, she could feel the effects of the deadly plant lessening. Unfortunately, Hikaru couldn't tell if that was because it was working or the poison was just wearing off. She was honestly surprised she hadn't passed out, having known just how deadly white snakeroot was supposed to be. Did her bloodline give her a form of tolerance, since she already had her own poison in the form of snake venom? She wasn't sure, so she took another bite of the poisonous plant.
It tasted horrible, but the results were minor. That had to mean it was working! Hikaru was glad, though she didn't remain so for long. This was only step one. In the future, she would need to put her body through a lot more pain in order to progress through the Harmonic Death Arts style. At least for now, though, it was over.
Hikaru wiped her face to make sure it was clear of vomit and, groaning about needing a bath, she dropped the rest of the plant and started walking back towards the academy. There was supposed to be an exam going on, and she didn't want to miss it. Thankfully, she arrived right on time to at least get the gist of it, hearing Coach's instructions from afar as she approached. "Who am I with then?" She asked this, stepping up beside Shikataro and sounding very confused at being left out, as if she had been standing there the entire time rather than just arriving.

Dabi's inquiry in regards to the rulesโฆ againโฆ was met with an irritated reply from Coach, telling him to ask the other students and to stop being an idiot. As usual, the response didn't phase him one bit. He saluted Coach and, without stopping to actually ask the other students as he had been told, began jogging towards the woods. As he passed Syun-ho, Reina, Shikataro, and another recent addition to this exercise, Dabi gave a firm thumbs-up. "Let us go! There's no time to waste!
After traversing a few yards into the woods, he stopped and looked around. Maybe he wasn't sure what the goal of this assignment was, but he at least knew that gathering information on the area would be helpful. Dabi continued taking steps deeper into the woods, at a walking pace now. The sounds of birds and chirping insects was making it hard for him to listen for any abnormal sounds in the woods, and Dabi, in typical Dabi fashion, decided to fix that.
He moved closer to a nearby tree and began to form hand signs, molding his chakra and focusing it into his hand. His body began to produce bubbles in response to the stirring of his chakra, lifting off of his skin and floating into the air. After he had formed the last seal, Dabi swung his arm behind him as far as he could, then let loose a slap against the bark of the tree with all of his strength. A portion of the tree flashed brilliantly for a few seconds, and the resulting boom that accompanied it echoed throughout the woods like rolling thunder. While the display may have been a bit over the top, it did serve its intended purpose: the noisy insects went quiet and the startled birds flew off.
The silence that followed left a satisfied grin on the boys face. "Now I should be able to listen better!"

โฑโฐโฑMizuchi gently pushed through the doors of the academy and stepped into the training area. He was expecting to meet someone in the academy at a certain time but he arrived a few minutes early. He retrieved one of the training katanas from the rack and practiced his bukijutsu forms for a while. Kanmuri was gently wrapped around his neck as the wooden katana sliced through the air. Mizuchi appeared to others as silent and intensely focused on training. He had a pensive stare that let shown a keen amount of determination. In truth, Mizuchi knew he needed to prepare to claim the legendary Kusanagi of Ryuchi Cave. Such a powerful sword would allow him to much more effectively conquer the obstacles in his life. With each sword swing, the Dokueki's wrath grew. Mizuchi, you're too ssslow. You'll need to be fassster than that to take down Anzan. Kanmuri spoke through Mizuchi's mind which only increased his frustration. I know that. Why do you think we're here? Mizuchi responded telepathically through the snake's fuuinjutsu that connected their thoughts. He understood that being a lone mercenary rogue from Kusagakure was doing nothing for advancing his skill. He hoped that his time in Tanigakure would change that.

Pulling out a training scroll he had gotten from his teacher the day before he rolled it out near where he was going to be training, and looked over it for a moment or two. It was a scroll on the forms, and practices of the Kote Art a style of bukijutsu that focused on the use of armored gauntlets as weapons. Nodding to himself he slipped on his practice gauntlets squaring up with the training dummy he had set up next to. The jack gains an additional Non-Bloodline Trait at character creation as opposed to just one, allowing a Jack Spec to hold Two, the same Non-Bloodline trait cannot be taken more than once. In addition, the user gains 50 chakra at D, B , and S ranks while gaining 50 stamina at C, A, and S+ Ranks. User may also select an alternate discipline from most other classes besides Jack (Tamer, Bloodline and Puppeteer are excluded from selection of a discipline). โฑโฐโฑMizuchi spent several more minutes practicing his stances, not realizing that another person entered the training room until he finally looked up. Mizuchi's eyes widened and stared at the unfamiliar person intensely. He blinked rarely and slowly as he analyzed Takashi. He looked at the gauntlets he was training with and noticed that while practicing his form his scroll rolled away from the force of impact. As the scroll flew away, Mizuchi pointed at it and Kanmuri extended to her full length and caught it in her mouth. She then moved to coil around Mizuchi's arm before placing the scroll in his hand.
โฑโฐโฑHis two mismatched eyes looked down at the scroll as it rolled up into his hand. The momentary break of his intense gaze was brief as his pensive focus returned to Takashi. He took several steps forward, his body slinking along with an odd and fluid gait. Once he approached Takashi, he extended his arm to return the scroll. His arm moved slowly from side to side as it was extended in a wavy and serpentine fashion. The white snake wrapped around his arm then poked her head up to attention. "You dropped thisss." The snake spoke with her head above the scroll in Mizuchi's hand. Her voice slithered out as a whisper while Mizuchi remained completely silent and continued to stare as though he had no sense of social awareness.

The Academy of Tanigakure was many things; a teaching facility, a training facility, playing grounds even, but most importantly, in Fuyu's opinion, it was the social hub of future power houses. The keyword being, future, meaning that as of this particular moment, almost everyone was on even playing field. And this particular fact was something she was determined to make the most out of.
Fuyu was aware that she had a lot going against her in terms of natural skill. She wasn't particularly gifted in taijutsu, nor was she any good at ninjutsu and those usually were the bread a butter of most powerful shinobi she knew of.
Of course, none of those disadvantages could ever deter her from reaching her ambitions. If she lacked the ability to singlehandedly make her enemies kneel before her, she would have allies... no, no allies wasn't quite the right word... friends was far too personal as well... they would be people who wouldn't hesitate to protect her life over theirs. They would be her strength in those she lacked.
All she had to do was keep her eyes and ears open and spot the future prodigies.
Fuyu made sure she was engaging with her classmates as well as the younger and older academy students. If people would see her, all they could assume was that she was a nice and sociable person. And that was the best image she could hope for.
