◊ OPEN Paulo is pretty much an open book; if there’s something you’d like to know, he will tell you. Sometimes without provocation. From his past, his future, his ideals, even the price of socks he really doesn’t have a filter.
◊ HONEST He doesn’t like lies or lying (unless its something that can cause serious harm then he will keep it but will definitely not like it) so he just tries not to. Same with secrets but he has a bit of leeway with those most of the time.
◊ INTROSPECTIVE For as open as he is, Paulo does sometimes get stuck in his mind for periods of time thinking of different subjects that are prone to just appear to him.
◊ FORGETFUL Unfortunately for him, as much as he thinks of different things he’s also prone to forget them as well. In school he began the habit of keeping journals if there was something he especially wanted to remember but for the most part, if it’s not inked on him in some way, he’ll forget within an hour.
◊ OUTSPOKEN Paulo isn’t the type to keep things in if he thinks something is wrong. Scratch that, especially if he thinks something is wrong. Whether through words or actions, he will make sure to get his point across.
◊ GREGARIOUS He loves people and he especially loves being around people. Sometimes not even just people! He doesn’t like feeling lonely so he likes to surround himself with as many friends, family, partners, animals, plants, etc. as he can. Is this a problem? He hasn’t decided yet.

CHILDHOOD Paulo was born in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina to a sizable family. His parents divorced when he was a toddler so the majority of his life was spent with his mother and then his later stepfather while various weekends and vacation breaks would be with his father and his family farm. He loved the farm and would also look forward to seeing his father, grandparents, and various uncles/aunts/cousins/etc. and tend to their crops and animals. They were part of a farming collective where his family tended tomato and strawberry vineyards as well as a small herd of goats and joined other neighboring farms at various markets to sell their wares. What he also enjoyed about his time at the farm was that this side of the family never attempted to hide or dissuade their indigenous roots unlike his mother. What made it worse was his mom was actually magical! She was a witch and a former practitioner of vodou before “converting” and divorcing his dad and marrying the gringo the perfectly respectable gentleman from London. Paulo’s really not sure how or why they met, or why this supposedly rich English man was doing in their part of world but all he did know was that the second their vows were said everything about magic, vodou, and even parts of their own family was not to be mentioned. Also church every week was a new thing which was definitely odd since he wasn’t used to being told he’s going to Hell for various inconspicuous stuff. As he got older, he began arguing with both parents and their views and begging to be allowed to stay with his father for longer periods of time. He rationalized that if he was such a “heretic satanic child on the brink of destruction” then surely they wouldn’t want him around his very impressionable younger siblings? It unfortunately didn’t work that way but luckily, the Gods were looking after him and gave him a way out via a Behanzin invitation.

SCHOOL YEARS

Behanzin became Paulo’s third home away from home and his time there was better than he ever could’ve imagined. Getting his mother to tell him about her times at the school had been like pulling chicken teeth so much of his experience was firsthand but he didn’t mind it as much. He was surreptitiously sorted into Rada and his first few years were spent getting acclimated to all the various new people he cohabitating with as well as newfound hobbies and interests. All his years of farming and running after wayward billies gave him a good stamina so he was a good match for most of the sports available on the island including Quidditch, hiking, swimming and even bicycling. He would’ve tried for soccer but that season usually intercepted with Quidditch so when it came to choose he enjoyed flying a bit more than just running. Funnily enough, thanks to all those long drawn out church services he made an excellent debater when it came to their theological discussions. It wasn’t funny however that every summer Paulo returned home, he now had split time between his parents which now meant more church being forced down his gullet. To which he would respond in a rainbow of ways, his favorite being the time he kept small jars of bluebell flames in his trench coat pockets to give the impression of him going up in flames as he went inside the church doors. Hilarious to him and his friends, not so much his mother and definitely not his stepfather.


POST GRADUATION Paulo graduated with excellent grades much to his extreme surprise and his parent’s joy only for his mother to become abhorred when she found out he wanted to work fulltime on his father’s farm and possibly join the collective with his own parcel of land. They had a long drawn out fight about how his father and his side of the family were trying to limit him and for him to give up such foolishness and use the few important skills he had to make a life for himself. When he told her he was she seemed to get even madder saying he was only doing this as a way of rebelling against them. It partially was but he certainly wasn’t going to tell her that. To make matters worse, he even decided to use their words against them and actually help outsource the collective with a bit of his own “magical” touches. From all his stepfather's blustering and praising about the UK and some additional knowledge from a few school friends, Paulo knew of various marketplaces he could sell his products to. It took him awhile to get together a plan to hand to the right people and get the funds together but eventually, Paulo was able to purchase a small piece of land of his own and start building his own small enterprise.
