[Year 100 BD (Before Darkness)]

Location: Akahai City (Haina Desert), Ula'ula Island

-----

It's a bright sunny day for the people of Ula'ula Island, the citizens of Akahai City going about their daily chores happily and in peace alongside their Pokemon partners. For such a busy and important, the seat of the Grand Chieftain, Akahai City was surprising clean, their waters pristine as they flowed down from the surrounding mountains, giving bloom to their verdant land, a vast fertile meadow filled with wildflowers and carefully placed berry trees to act as guide posts. It's said the very air could cure disease.

While the royal city of Akahai was easily the most developed in all of Alola its structures were designed in such a way to blend together with nature, their buildings living wood structures created and maintained by the Grass Channelers. The only inorganic structure in all of Akahai was the palace its self which housed the shrine to their deity, Tapu Bulu.

None of what Akahai City was could have been possible without the Grass Pokemon that made the montane meadow their home and willingly worked alongside the humans in peaceful coexistence. Such bonds and understanding was unheard of for this time period, a time when 'capture' was not possible and taming a Pokemon was far more difficult.

Akahai City was certainly the crown jewel of Ula'Ula Island and it is here, at the center of the great civilization of Grass Channelers, the Phoinike, begins...

He was late, it took him far longer than he expected to harvest the herbs he needed for this journey. He thought to do it the day before but the Grass Channeler knew good and well that they were the most potent the more fresh they were and these herbs had a very important destiny, provided he made it to the docks soon enough. Hopefully the caravan to the docks hadn't left without him yet. He had to get to Poni Island before noon, those Kreeks ran a tight schedule after all.

"Luraaan!" His Lurantis cried out at him, the Pokemon carrying a crate in its scythe 'arms', looking positively annoyed with his partner.

"I know I know! Just keep up!" He implored the Pokemon as they continued to run towards the town gate. He could see the wagon still there, just one, and it looked like it was about full. By the Tapu please let there be a seat for him!

A Belossom hybrid tarried about in her home, collecting all the medicine she'd been growing for the past few weeks and storing it all in a basket she was carrying - from bottled mixtures to raw, freshly picked herbs. A Bulbasaur watched on as she did this as it bathed in the heat of their hearthfire, nestling atop a table. "Bulbasaaaur..." it groaned.

"You two will be fine on your own, Vegeta. Watch after the house and make sure Gochu doesn't get into trouble. You know how antsy she gets when she can't go anywhere."

As if summoned, a tiny Pichu jumped out of a groove in the ground near a corner of the house and spoke out. "Pichu!"

"Take care of things while I'm gone and watch the house. Don't let anyone get in here until I get back," the hybrid commanded. With that, she gave the two Pokemon one head pat each before making her way out.

Once having vacated her home, the Belossom hybrid hurried toward the center of the town where she knew the caravan would be waiting. She reserved a seat for herself, and given how badly her medicine was needed, she was sure her seat wasn't in danger of being given away, but she didn't want to make the drivers wait too long. Fortunately, after turning a corner, she could see the caravan nearby. She walked up to it and waved at those preparing it for the road ahead. "Lily here. I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long," she offered, making her way for the inside of the wagon - not bothering to wait for a response. As busy as they were, she had a feeling they wouldn't mind They should recognize her on sight at any rate - not everybody had grass-green hair with red and yellow flowers growing out of it.

Kiva sat in the back of the wagon heading into the heart of Poni Island's kingdom. They had a sack full of carefully wrapped obsidian figures beside them, having been given so little warning that there would be a caravan heading toward the island nation that they had failed to procure a proper crate in which to appropriately store and transport their wares. Fortunately, they had Akuba with them, which would allow for repairs if anything was damages by the the pair arrived. The Torkoal in question sat at his master's feet, the vents around his shell glowing softly as he burned the bits of charcoal he'd been fed before boarding the wagon. He was wondering why they were wearing that old poncho that covered their head, though. Was this desert going to be like the one back home, where sandstorms were so dangerous?
