Queen's Wing!

Only those with riders assigned to the Queen's Wing may join in this thread! The Queen's wing doesn't change altitude, and is the last defense before Thread hits the people, crops, animals, and life below. Golds are expected to fly full Threadfall, though greens, blue, whites will come and go depending upon their assigned 'wave'.

Queens may need to make a saving catch in another Wing should a dragon fall from the sky. You may roll your save here, as a queen would not be expected to fly high up to catch.

This is a Threadfighting Forum, which means that if your character returns to the Weyr due to injury, is still waiting to join the fray, or their wave is up, or wants pre- or post-Threadfall fighting conversation and role-play, you will need to do it in The Bowl subforum!

All RP here is for those who are high up in the sky fighting Thread! Please note, some characters are listed here as they would be expected to fight even if they are designated in another Flight or another Wing. Consolidation happened purely so OOCly we can all have a good time.

For those demoted weyrlings, given there are no active/PC weyrlings, they have been assigned to fight in the Queen's Wing. They may roll from the Queen's Wing Grid but likely will be expected to help make firestone deliveries.

2-20. You see a stray strand writhe out of the corner of your eye. Your rider quickly twists in her seat, and catches the errant strand with a well-timed aim of their flamethrower! +1 Target Accuracy

Orokath was ready for Thread! In fact, he sorely wished he could fly with Star Flame, but settled for flying amongst the lovely shining ladies of the Weyr (and fellow compatriots). They made a stunning sight, aligned in the sunlight, and he was glad to count himself part of this wondrous Weyr.

Enough waxing poetical, come on Oro... Koruika nudged him gently with her boot, spurring him onwards. He saw the clump of Thread and flamed it without issue. See. Concentrate dragon. There was affection in her voice as she rubbed his shoulder blade.

85-89. A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it.]

It was unfortunate that the young white was so easily distracted- one moment he was delighting in being in the company of such spiffy dragons, the next he was hwonking an apology to the folks below, having failed to sear a stray clump of Thread that now threatened the very lives they had sworn to protect.

Orokath... Seriously, sometimes it felt like she was wrangling her twin...

It ached to have to leave their tiny daughter in the creche, though it would be just a few short hours before she could see her little beloved child again, and to meet with her mate on the ground. Khamaith's love was a solid wall of support, ever since her own children had started to rise and fight thread. But they had to be strong; for the children and mates they loved the had to keep a clear head, and return home to or hoped they would return home.

It seemed his attention was very much on Thread once more. Orokath burst forwards and seared another patch from the sky, and Korui patted him fondly. Keep it up!

3. Failure! Your dragon is blown out of formation. They struggle and flap against the wind, and only are able to recover when the wind dies down, feeling more exhausted than before. Worse, you think they may have pulled a muscles in their wing arm! Best watch it. [Light Damage -1 HP ]

A strong gust of wind caught Orokath unawares. The white beat furiously to try and maintain his position, much slighter than his other-coloured brethren. A twinge of pain was his reward, though he managed to slink back into formation. Not too hurt?

No, I am very well still. There is a fight to be had, golly!

The winds picked up, but Orokath was more prepared this time. He followed the gust, flaming a patch of Thread as he soared on unpredictable thermals. He rumbled with glee, Korui patting him in happiness.

But it seemed the wind wasn't quite done with blowing stray fickle slips of thread around. Khamaith's bugle was sharp, wheeling up towards her wingmate as Ezyzu readied herself.

Watch out Terasath! The gold surged forward, curling to give her rider the best shot at the clump of thread before it could harm their wingmate. Safely reduced to ash, Ezyzu waved to Ophina before they returned to their position.

Tucking her wings in, Khamaith dove after a clump that had rocketed past them. Her wings snapping out to catch herself, and Ezyzu is quick with the trigger, and they're rising back back into formation in a fluid motion.

On top of her game since they'd come back from leave, a scored-up back wasn't enough to keep Khamaith from twisting around to allow Ezyzu a better shot at searing down the thread clumps.

As they dove to catch another plummeting clump of thread, the wind rose from beneath to suddenly blow it up into their faces. Ezyzi gives the quick coordinates, and they're blinking out of the way, rendering it to ash in a quick puff of fire.

They were barely up in the air and already Riamsoth was tired. The wind had been buffeting them for a while now. A strong wind began to push Riamsoth out of formation and despite her struggles she couldn't stay where she was meant to be. It took a few moments to get back and she could feel the strain already forming in her muscles.

Even tired, Riamsoth was going to do her best. As the wind began blowing Thread at her rider she twisted and turned so that Sorentia could flame the Thread. A little wing soreness wouldn't stop them!
