History

Ender had been searching for something his entire life, so far his world has been filled with one fling after another. Some resulting in offspring, leaving dragonkin across the lands. He hunted for treasure and pleasure, bringing the former back to his home territory to amass a hoard. As a ruthless dragon, living in shadows, seeking mates simply to reproduce, he happened to chance upon a dragoness while on his travels, one bathed in light. Becoming star struck by her glittering appearance, Ender did as a dragon does, and claimed her as part of his hoard. Luckily for him, Kimiru, too, claimed Ender as hers.

Both being born of noble dragon nature agreed that there needed to be more dragonkind spread across the lands, not just the few Ender had been so lucky to leave in his wake. Kimiru, having noted and accepted that Ender has a more beastial need to reproduce, suggested the need to further bolster his hoard into a herd of dragonkin approved by her for him to chose from, while still living a life dedicated mainly to each other.



Herd Allies
The Unicorn herd - while not entirely accepted, at least by Ender himself, Kimiru has made a compromise with the (for now NPC) herd of unicorns for healing in exchange for protection. In turn, the mixed/half-uni members of the Unicorn herd also help protect the only entrance to The Nether-Lands, deterring adventurers to steer clear less they want a painful and slow death.

The Nether-Lands



A land composed of both shadow and light.


To get into the Nether-Lands will prove difficult for many reasons. There is only one passage into the Nether-Lands, it is wrought with peril and guarded by allies to the Netherstorm herd. Surrounding the entirety of the herd lands are massive mountains, almost impossible to scale without the aid of wings or claws, and even then the journey is perilous.

Should one manage to either be accepted into the herd or simply brave the guards and pass into herd territory, they are immediately met by landscape that seem to be draped in both shadows and light at the same time, some in natural ways, others unnatural.

Towering mountains dotted with crumbled remnants of what look like stone structures are the first to be seen. Several winged creatures can be spotted nestled atop and within the mountains if one dares to look close enough. Dark clouds line the sides, breaking every so often in the middle to let rays of light shine through. This is where most of the sky dragons reside.

The landscape is lined with trees and rocks, some making up cliff faces or sloping hills and valleys where most of the earth dragons roam, able to traverse the difficult terrain with ease.

There are trickling rivers that criss-cross the lands, all connecting to one major lake where the bulk of the Water Dragons live. Below the depths of the lake are twisting caverns and tunnels that the water dragons live in and among, and also where certain aquatic treasures are gathered to add to the ever growing hoard.

In the center of the lands is a heavily guarded area, surrounded on all sides by mountains, land and water. Within the remnants of stone and natural walls is where the bulk of the dragons make up their nesting grounds and work to raise hatchlings together, with the help of the Herds unofficial 'Mother of Dragons', Kimiru.

Rules & Religions


There is no god but Dragons.

Dragons are elite. Dragons are eternal.

Herd goal is to simply repopulate until Dragons overwhelm in numbers and become the master race.

Flings within the herd are far more common than any other arrangement, but all kinds of couples are encouraged to grow the dragon population. Poly groups are not unheard of but lifemated are treated with ceremony and not broken lightly. For one to find a single partner to spend a dragon's long lifespan with is a precious thing and often have larger celebrations. While a broken lifemate isn't looked down upon, Kimiru will remind all dragons that the decision to take a single partner for life is not something to be taken lightly.

Flinging outside the herd is generally frowned upon, especially if it is with someone not of dragon nature. (Shhh we don't speak of Enders one desperate fling before the herd was started/he met Kimiru) Foals may be turned away if they do not have enough dragon traits or accepted only on the premises that they are and forever 'dragonfriends', meaning they can not take any rank of significance.

Obvious dragon features required to join unless applying for the Dragonfriend rank.

Wings are viewed as an elite trait and required to join the Skyguard ranks.

Familiars are welcome but those of reptilian nature are highly preferred (birds of prey and aquatics for the water dragons will also not be too harshly judged.) Others will be considered carefully by Kimiru (OC, Rev and I).

Dragon Hierarchy



Dragonlord Ender & Dragonlord Kimiru
Your benevolent rulers and leaders of the herd. The Alphas if you will. Nothing is accepted without their approval, mostly Kimiru's.


Seers
4 at a time. The Mystics of the herd. Seers seek knowledge and wisdom from the ancient dragons of lives past to ensure the herd has guidance in all things. Seers are those that have had an actual connection with dragons of the past and have learned knowledge, seekers are those in training, some may seek their whole lives before becoming a seer, others may have a natural talent and hear the voices of the past early on


Seekers
4 at a time. Seekers are Seers in training, those aspiring to become a seer but still require more soul searching. As dragons live a long time, some Seekers may spend all their lifespans still seeking, but they still serve an important role in the herd, acting as 'Seers in Charge' should a Seer be unavailable or generally helping the Seer's with their needs. Seers/Seekers work closely with Lorekeepers.


Ender Consort
3 at a time. (judging this based on breeding chances/eligibility for now) Primarily made of mares, this rank is hoof picked by Kimiru as possible partners for Ender simply for reproduction purposes to strengthen the herd. And dragon worthy can apply for this rank multiple times in their lifespan. Males may be considered but for OC purposes would result in mock children rather than traditional breeding.

Skyguard
5 at a time. The elite guard of the herd, made mostly of dragons with wings as wings are viewed as a superior trait.


Earthguard
5 at a time. The secondary guard unit, made more of earth dragons and those without wings, preferably those excellent at traversing the lands on hoof/claw.


Waveguard
5 at a time. The third guard unit, made up of water dragons that patrol the rivers and lake within the Nether-Lands.

Lore Keepers
4 at a time. Keepers of lore, history, stories and whatever else is deemed important enough to be passed down to generations to come. They are responsible for keeping the written and drawn history, legends and lore of the herd, as well as birth records, death records, special days such as marriages/lifemates, etc. If a particular dragon of the past performed a deed or task worthy of recognition, it is written down and stored by the keepers. Lorekeepers work closely with Seer/Seekers.



Providers
Unlimited. These are the hunters and gatherers of the herd. They are trained in all areas as foals and upon adulthood can choose which category they desire to specialize in. Or if a foal is born with a particularly notable set of skills, may chose to be trained in that one specific area.
----- Provider Subcategories:
---------- Hunter: Responsible for gathering and providing food for the herd.
---------- Weaver: Able to turn fabrics into minor clothing or accessories. Sometimes works with the Seers in making fabrics with dragon runes or symbols imprinted on them. Those with 'hands' are ideal for this rank.
---------- Smith: Those who are able to turn ores into metals or gems into jewels to adorn the herd with.
---------- Tanner: Those able to use pelts, leather or other various materials as beds, nest liners or other items of comfort.


Treasure Keepers
5 at a time. Treasurekeepers are as their ranks states. They manage the herd's hoard of trinkets, gems, treasure and shinnies, as no dragon is complete without its hoard.


Nest Keepers
10 at a time, as its expected to have a lot of hatchlings. Nestkeepers are in charge of tending to the foals in conjunction with Kimiru. (Kimiru is the unofficial Mother of All Dragons and you can expect her to have a hand in raising any and every foal born into the herd.)

Ancients:
Unlimited. A rank reserved for those dragons nearing the end of their lifespans who have already given all they can to the herd. Once reaching this rank, all's left is for them to live comfortably, cared for and pass on their knowledge to foals and herd members alike.

Dragonfriends
This rank is open to anyone who may not strongly resemble a dragon but have been approved by Kimiru to join the herd. This will consist of familiars as well as any soq approved to join the herd. (Example, a soq/offspring of a herd member who may have horns and a dragonlike tail, but has features of other races (such as antlers, uni horn, flutter wings) that make it not a 'true' dragon.)

Savita and Xayide are accepted into their roles on the condition that there be (at least) heavy/good plots for how they managed to impress Ender and Kimiru respectively for their roles as these are positions requiring great power, conviction and wisdom.
