The entertainment district of Tanigakure, where shinobi and civilians come to unwind. Bars, restaurants, gaming corners, you name it it's there. Feel free to relax!
The pale moon would bear witness to a silent opera this night. It’s eerie light cast silhouettes on houses as figures tore through its gaze, painting swift chases for only brief moments. Back and forth the shadows went, exchanging with each other in artful fashion. Clashes of blades sang through the crisp air. Clouds of dust lifted from the ground in their wake. Two masked individuals were engaged in skillful combat. Neither made a single rash decision. Every move was calculated, planned out like a masterful game of chess. Each was trying to force the other into submission. Sheer force of will had kept them on equal footing for long enough that they were now moving into the second phase of their encounter. If quick and easy was not going to lead them to a conclusion, then more drastic measures had to be taken. Moving in unison, they began to unleash volleys of shuriken and kunai. Metal struck against metal. Those that made it through the fray were narrowly sidestepped to avoid their deadly edges.
One of the men had bled their arsenal dry, but the other still had one more kunai left to his name. It ripped through the air with pinpoint accuracy. At the last moment, before it could pierce his flesh, the defenseless one twirled out of its trajectory like a dancer. However, that was not the plan. His finger looped through the circular end of the blade, halting its momentum and sending it flying back at its owner. Tucked into the loop was a paper tag, and as it drew closer, it ignited. The explosion sent rubble flying, knocking the other man backwards from its powerful force. Our hero leapt through the billowing smoke. His hands blurred together in a flurry of motion untraceable to the naked eye. He curled an index finger and connected it to his thumb to form a circle, and bringing it up to his mouth he shouted: ”Fire style! Fireball Jut-”
A gruff voice interjected the imaginary sequence. ”Hey kid! Can you move? I’ve got work to do.” The worker was carrying a heavy stack of wood upon his shoulder. Matsunori had been playing with a pair of action figures, and wasn’t quite paying attention to the venue. He had wound up settling right in the path of a group of men working on constructing a new building. Now that he had been broken from the focus he had put into playing ninja using his toys, he jumped up and offered a quick apology. ”Oops! Sorry mister, I guess I wasn’t paying attention.” The man waved Matsunori off. He began walking away, holding an old piece of thin, rotten wood between his fingers. It wasn’t quite the size of a shuriken, but it was close enough that he could get some practice with the way he would hold one.
When he was far enough away from the working site that he wouldn’t cause any more disruptions, Matsu sat back down and prepared to resume his imagined fight scene. That was when he noticed… He had forgotten one of his action figures. He quickly rolled onto his back and kicked his feet upward, using the momentum to flip him into standing position. His feet carried him as fast as they could back towards the construction site. He drew closer, only several more yards away. The toy was in plain view, resting on the ground. Right. In the path. Of a moving worker. With the materials on his shoulder, the man couldn’t tell he was soon going to be stepping on the unstable surface that Matsunori’s action figure would make. The white haired boy felt a surge of chakra flood his body, and pink irises trained on his destination. With another step, he vanished.
His body reappeared right next to his toy, which he quickly snatched out of the path of the man he was saving from a humiliating fall. It took him a moment to get a better grasp on his surroundings. Even though he had been there just a few minutes ago, the speed that he had just moved was a sensation that he wasn’t quite used to yet. They had only recently learned how to do the Body Flicker technique at the academy. ”Phew, that was close,” Matsunori whispered. His legs were still shaky from the Shunshin, but he moved back out of the way of the working men regardless, and trotted down the street. His face beamed with a mix of pride and excitement, his childlike grin could no longer be contained. ”Being a ninja is so cool!”
Entering the Entertainment District, Reina found herself having to check the map instructions a few times before she found the location that her Monster Hunter internship was to take place. She met a woman named Itou Marinami who would be the one assigning her tasks. For her first task, Itou wanted Reina to understand why Monster Hunters do what they do. Sending her to shadow some of the Monster Hunters whom were tasked with catching a Monster that broke out of one of the cages, Reina kept up with them cautiously. When they reached the Monster in question, there was a fight which resulted in them knocking it down before tossing some netting over it. Then it was knocked out and brought back to the cage. The following mission Reina was expected to partake on was learning how the Monster Taming went. That same Monster which was trapped in a cage was released once more, but a barrier had been created so that it could not leave the area. A more well-trained Tamer would face it. Using a combination of techniques, the Tamer first restrained it before bringing it down. And then it utilized the Beast Contract Jutsu. Something, Reina knew it would be some time before she could learn herself as it was advanced. The Tamer placed their hand on its head and then black marks formed on their hands indicating the process began. It did not take long for the Monster to be tamed. The 3rd mission that Reina had been assigned to was learning how the Monster Hunter crafters did what they do. Following closely, she saw them release another Monster from a cage before striking it down swiftly. It would appear that the crafters had to kill their monsters in order to successfully begin the process of retrieving their parts. Using special tools, they would remove various parts from the Monster from skin, hide, bones, and nothing went to waste. They were obviously good at what they did. But, Reina didn't think this was for her. [Rank E | Monster Crafting mission complete]
For her 4th mission under the watchful eye of Itou, Reina would be tasked to help with the Monster Hunter Slayers. Another Monster had broken free of a cage and needed to be stopped. Using her best friend and partner Toradora, she was able to pin the Monster down while they other Slayers disabled and trapped it. The Monster needed to be brought back for other purpose use. Whether it was to be harvested or tamed was up to the Branch in the Entertainment District. Reina felt she might have a knack for this. [Rank E | Helping the Slayers mission complete]
The final internship mission involved helping the Tamers tame that same Monster that had been brought in with Reina's help. Releasing it from a cage, a barrier went up just like before. Reina had to move the Monster into a corner to make this easier and she used her Axolotl Toradora to do this. Once it was trapped, the Tamer moved in and started the taming process with the Beast Contract Jutsu. Of all of the paths, this one most interested Reina as someone who loved making new friends and taming. [Rank E | Helping Tame the Beast mission complete]
Making her way to some of the other establishments, Reina decided to do some more work for the local businesses here. She entered a nearby gaming corner and was assigned by the owner Naoto Shinitzu to act as a cashier and to make sure that the machines worked. Luckily for her all of the machines were working just fine today, and she was able to handle the cashier work fro Naoto's business well. Moving across the street there was a restaurant that sold street foods. There she would be given an apron and help cook and serve takoyaki and imagawayaki. Following the lead of the actual cooks there, she would prepare them before they were dipped into the friers. She admired the skill that the restaurant owners possessed. Once the food was made and prepared, she took some orders and served the customers there. It wasn't a great job, but it wasn't awful either, but rather just a job that paid. Offered a 2nd job by the street vendor, she was given some cleaning tools. She put away all of the leftover foods and helped pack away the stand. Then she would sweep the area and clean up all of the trash. Reina smiled, feeling rewarded in making sure that the area was shining. She enjoyed having a clean and safe environment for people to go to. If being a kunoichi did not work out, she could always do this for a living. [Rank E | Cleanup the Streets mission complete]
Reina would help out at a local bar called Riverside Spirits, finding herself once again offering service to patrons. She would simply fill up the glasses of anyone who came by for whatever drink they wished for. A few patrons flirted with her and one of them was bold enough to try and grab at her waist, only to discover her Axolotl's teeth. Backing away they did not try again. Reina enjoyed bartending even more than the other jobs. [Rank E | Bartending Work mission complete]
For her last mission, Reina decided to pick up a job at a public bath. She'd help assign people to the right men, woman, or public baths. Handing them towels and instructions on not running, she found the place a very relaxing location. She also put out scented candles to help keep people feeling like they could escape work here. Some regulars tried to offer her a ryo tip for her awesome customer service, but out of good conscience, Reina rejected the offer. [Rank E | Public Baths mission complete]
