____________New Beginnings ||
tab Welcome, one and all, to the beginning of the new Era for Shattered Past! Once, we were a Naruto Guild, but after much discussion and votes by our membership we can proudly claim we have adapted and changed into a full-fledged Fantasy / Science Fiction guild role play that still speaks to our roots but which aims for a future away from that foundation! While the foundation systems for our guild have been updated to reflect this change there are still many changes in store for Shattered Past, including new Paths to choose from, new races, locations, new items and systems, and especially an enormous lore dump for those who care to experience those.
tab With this change complete we have decided to begin opening the guild for active recruitment again. The past cannot be unwritten, and as such all that has been written will remain as Canon for our guild's storyline. What happens now? Well, let's get into that.
tab For reasons that to the world remain as yet unknown something has changed. In waves and pulses that only you [RPCs] seem to notice things have began to change. That fellow down the road, once a young man barely into his teens? He's suddenly about to reach his twenties and is eight feet tall resembling only barely who he once was, and is now calling himself a Stragari. That lady down the road who sells baked goods? She is covered up now, with pale skin, and is prone to mostly sell in the evenings for reasons no one knows. Though, strangely, the local rodent problem seems to have fixed itself over night since then...When addressed, the average person (NPCs) no longer refer to Chakra, but to Mana, though they believe Chakra used to be the word for a very different and ancient power no longer used in this world. If pressed they remember the same pasts your do, but the current days they willfully act as if things have changed and are universally this way now. They resist going back to the old ways, and they do not remember being any different now than they were before (changed races, classes, etc). Why, or how, as said remains unknown, though a few have begun to investigate it.
tab With the inclusion of Undead, Sirens, Dullahans, An Teaghlach, and Vampires, please keep in mind that the stigma of "monsters" is still alive and well. Even NPCs will seek to keep this hidden. The stories, myths, and fables we enjoy in our real world very much exist in this one, and it would be difficult at best to believe a Human character encountering these to take it in stride. Characters who have become these new races should role play it as a sudden change as well, and you will find bonus experience given to you for roleplaying it. Please see individual races for historical information, as some have always existed, but are just more prevalent now.
tab To help us open up there have been a few changes that need to be noted.
[1.] A new system, called Pregenerated Characters, has been introduced where members of the guild may create characters for other people to play. These can be Paragon types, which are near fully fleshed out characters, or Prototypes, which are mostly filled out to a theme or character type that is mostly up for someone to fill in the blanks. This is to help out people who may be struggling to create a new character.
[2.] A new page, called Current Events, is in existence now. Every month, on the first Saturday of the month, we will update with regional and worldly news so members are aware of what's been going on.
[3.] Due to a lack of Moderators, we have once again opened up Moderator Applications. If you, or anyone else, believes you have what it takes to be a Moderator and Creator for this guild please fill out your application [here]
[4.] Introducing the Buddy System! New members can "buddy up" with veteran members or other New Members to work together, make characters, and role play together for added benefit. In Character benefits would be getting 25% more experience up to C - rank, and 25% More Rewards until A - rank. If a party of more than two is formed, the percentage increases by 10% with a third person, and then becomes a total of 50% with the addition of a fourth person. Buddies must be named within your character Profile so that way we can keep track of who you are buddying with. If the Buddy System is used for Out of Character reasons, such as buddying up with a veteran to figure out how to get started and such, the new member will gain the 25% bonuses anyway, and the Veteran Member will receive 500 Experience Points to one character of choice for each New Member they help to start in the guild, though this cannot be given to a character who is B - rank or higher, but can be given to a new character the veteran makes. Please keep in mind that "New Members" who buddy up need not roleplay their characters together, as this is more about helping each other stay active, though it is suggested to help get you started in this world.
[5.] Another new system we have decided to utilize is the Discord/Gaia Roleplay System, where now, if desired, you can utilize the following rules to either post roleplaying in Discord, in Gaia, or both, depending on the rules at hand:
Rules/Example We have discussed implementing a Hybrid style of posting. In this case, members can either utilize Posting in the guild as has been traditional, and/or posting here, in Discord, in character. Both would count as viable, would count equally as posting in the guild and follow all rules. However, when posting with a party it is all or nothing for that interaction. Let me explain. You and 2 others are posting in gaia. You're stopping at a campsite, and all of you agree to move to Discord for the following conversation. All of you must] agree as the communication cannot have part of the party posting in gaia and the other in discord. You post 1 post saying you're going to discord you begin posting in discord instead. Then, when you all agree, you go back to gaia and continue posting there. Why are we doing this? Sometimes communications are short, and sometimes there's not much to say. It can be difficult writing entire paragraphs when a single line might suit best. Some members feel that pressure and find themselves unable to post. With this change you can post in discord for shorter, but meaningful, responses. You can write as long as you prefer in discord or gaia. Either or. To facilitate this we will have to include more chats that are linked to specific areas, to help keep things separate and make sense. But otherwise there will be no difference in use between the two. So you can train and roleplay equally in either selection.
[6.] To help get things going, please note that a 1 Month timeskip has taken place. If you wish to continue roleplaying in your current timeline that's fine, or you can leap forward 1 month.
tab Without further ado I would like to welcome all members old and new back to role play in Shattered Past. This will be a fresh start, something to keep in mind as our past has been a bumpy one. Trials and tribulations has left what I am sure are hard feelings on all sides, but I ask that you give this guild another chance as we evolve, change, and better ourselves with each interaction we make.
