He uses his charisma most to help cajole people into buying from his family shop, which he learned to do when he was still pretty little. He's naturally personable, so it makes it pretty easy to charm those around him.
xxxxx⇾Lᴏɢɪᴄᴀʟ: As much as Elias wished he was a creative soul, his brain erred more toward cold logic. He fell in love with math, science, and even history, but his brain fizzled out during the creative subjects. He used this skill to his advantage, earning a business degree and learning the more precise watchmaking ability.
xxxxx⇾Lᴏᴠɪɴɢ: Despite his outward demeanor, Elias is really a big softie who just wants to love and care for those around him. It especially shines through with his family, since they are the most important thing in the world to him.

He has always been a little klutzy and awkward in his body, but learned to temper this for his benefit– he’s careful enough around the gems and jewelry, and in other contexts he’s the first to turn a slip up into a kind joke that turns a crisis into a great laugh.

xxx𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒹𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Elias Samuel Bardsdale is the only living son of jewelers Andrew and Doris, who ran their own shop in London. They were a small, family business, and from simple filing to carrying boxes or greeting customers, Elias was trained to help out from childhood. While his parents tried again and again to get him into designing and gemsetting, Elias could never really get into it. He was clumsy and awkward, and the only times he liked his designs were when he copied one of his parents’. He kept trying though, because he admired the beauty and craftsmanship.
While Elias never really got into designing and crafting, his deep appreciation of the art and method helped him as a salesman. He was quick with numbers and by 10 was allowed to run the cash register and handle money.
On his 15th birthday, he made his first sale– almost by accident. His parents were in the back room when a couple came in to browse. They weren’t quite sure what they wanted– maybe matching cords-- but listening to their banter and to the unspoken hints one of the men were giving– Elias thought of a pair of rings his mum had been working on and was excited to show them. He described the qualities and method of making so well that they were enchanted. The price was a little out of their budget, but with some careful math and friendly charm, Elias mentioned “well, today is my birthday, and I know my parents don’t have a present in mind yet, so let’s call it my birthday special and I’ll say this as my present too wink”. They were sold. One of them proposed on the spot. Three months later, Elias was hand-delivered a wedding save-the-date.
The entire experience was a life-changing memory for Elias, who from then on took on even more opportunities to work the front. He paid special attention to listening to people and making them laugh or feel comfortable. It also made him more comfortable in his own skin, and by the time he graduated sixth form, he was unrecognizable from the awkward, clumsy little kid that was picked on.
xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxx Elias went to London for post-secondary. Although he initially tried to do Jewelry Design, he struggled with it immensely; instead he excelled in his communication classes, and ended up switching majors to Business. It was also in college that he met Genevive Kervin. Initially, he and Genny had an unpleasant relationship– she thought he was stuck up and he thought she had her head in the clouds and they only interacted because Elias’s best friend Reuben was besotted with Genny’s roommate Samara.
So it happened that Genny was there when Andrew and Doris surprised Elias with a visit. His parents loved all his friends, but particularly clicked with Genny. They adored her designs, and talked shop until all hours talking that night– by the time they left, Doris insisted Genny visit to see her workshop, and Andrew even invited Genny to intern at their shop, which sparked jealousy in Elias.
They found themselves hanging out more often, and their usual uncomfortable disagreements took on a more playful bickering tone. Their relationship didn’t change though, until their third year. Elias did a four month study abroad in New Delhi, following his desire to travel and meet new people. He took a late flight back and ended up in Ireland instead of London over the Spring/Easter holiday. Genny, back home on break, drove out to pick him up and let him stay with her for the week. They managed a cordial conversation on the ride there, but more surprisingly, Elias clicked immediately with Thomas and Lola Kervin. He went on hikes with them around the park they worked, shared stories about his study abroad adventure, and had a great week. They loved him and invited him back, much to Genny’s chagrin.
On the flight back to London, Elias and Genny had a huge fight, where they both expressed their jealousy that their parents adored the other and assumed they were dating. The fight was weird and complicated, but ended up in a heated confession of admiration and jealousy. By the time they landed, they’d agreed on a relationship.
Dating was easier than either of them thought. They found that their abilities and interests actually overlapped when they weren’t actively trying to find something to disagree with about the other.
xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Shortly after graduation, they took a hot air balloon trip. Their relationship had started in the air after all, and it only made sense to progress it further high above ground. He proposed, and when they returned to the ground, they were engaged. Only a few short months later, the two were wed at a lovely flower garden of Genny's choosing. It was only a couple months later that they discovered they were pregnant, and a few months later they knew it would be a little boy. They moved into a bigger house, decorating a nursery room before their son, Lochi Elias came along.
About 4 years later, Elias and Reuben were at a party and they both ended up drinking a little too much. They both passed out. Elias woke up first, and upon realizing Reuben wasn’t breathing, rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late. He died of alcohol poisoning the next morning. Samara, who blamed herself because she and Reuben were arguing that night and she didn’t go, ended up committing suicide a few months later. From then on, Elias swore off alcohol.
Genny comforted him over the next few months, helping to keep his mind occupied on work and their small family. As he started to feel less guilty, they discovered they were expecting again. Lochi really didn't want a new sibling, but with lots of love, they comforted their son into acceptance. The moment they knew it was a boy, Elias knew he would be named after his lost friend. Only a couple months later, Samuel Reuben was born, though he was premature and very sick. He stayed by his wife's side the whole time, only taking breaks to hold either Samuel or Lochi when his parents brought him along.
As the boys grew up, Elias could only feel pride in them. They were certainly his boys. When Lochi was eleven, a strange woman came to claim he was magical. That... couldn't be right. Genny jumped straight to belief, but Elias was a bit hesitant until the day the woman showed the family to a magical alleyway in the heart of London. Alright... so magic was real. Only a couple months later, the family had to bid goodbye to their oldest son, promising to write letters all the time and be there on the holidays.
It didn't come by as much of a shock when a few years later on Sammie's eleventh, the woman returned with another letter in hand. Sure enough, Sammie was magic too. The family was sad to see both boys off, but Elias was incredibly proud of them. They returned home, a bit sad at the quiet in their home...

xxx𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒹𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Genevive Miryam Kervin was four when she slipped and fell into a river. The current, while gentle, quickly tugged her far downstream. She luckily caught onto a stone outcropping but was stranded for hours in the cold before park rangers could find and rescue her. When she was finally rescued, Genny solemnly swore to always keep her feet on solid ground (and preferably indoors where it was warm!)
Since her parents worked at a nature park and Genny was now staunchly against following them around outside, she spent most of her free time at the park museum. By the time she was ten, she had memorized all the permanent exhibits and was considered the museum curator’s unofficial assistant. Genny particularly loved the geology exhibit, with all the colorful rocks and minerals, and the historical exhibit, with the intricately decorated costumes.
xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxx Genny was always top of the class in math and history classes, taking extra and more difficult classes as she went along.
She moved to London for university where started as a History major but soon moved to Gemology and Jewelry Design where she was able to apply her love of art and drawing. Her professors trained her attention to detail and grew her appreciation of art and design.
Met Elias, a business major. Initially unpleasant relationship. But Andrew and Doris Bardsdale ADORED her and they hung out more and somewhere along the line their arguing turned to playful banter. Love, confession, dating.
xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Shortly after university, Elias proposed on a hot air balloon trip, something Genny had always wanted to do. They quickly got married, then inherited the Bardsdale's jewelry shop from his parents. Elias went to do the business side, while Genny took creative control. A few months later they discovered they were pregnant, a great joy to them both. Genny didn't miss a single day while she was pregnant, having to nearly be dragged away to actually go to the hospital. The Bardsdale family welcomed a little boy, one they called Lochi Elias. Genny often wore him in a sling while she was working, always wanting to be near her little boy.
Five years later, they learned they were pregnant again. Lochi didn't seem to like the news, but he slowly relented. When she was only seven months along, Genny fell quite ill. It took some convincing, but Elias dropped Lochi off with his parents, then went to take his wife to the hospital. After a long labor that ended in an emergency surgery, the Bardsdale family welcomed their second little boy. Samuel Reuben, as he was named, was sent to the NICU for several days before Genny and Elias were able to take him home.
They raised the boys with love, though Sammie was always a bit more sickly than his brother. When Lochi was eleven, a kind woman came to explain to the family that Lochi was magical. Not like storybook magic either, but quite real magic. He was set to go away to a boarding school, and though Genny didn't want to say goodbye, she was happy for his journey. He came home on all the holidays to a big feast and extra love, anyway.
Five years later, the same woman showed up with terrific news. Sammie would officially be joining his brother at Hogwarts. How wonderful! Though, Genny certainly didn't feel the same once her home was quiet and empty during the school years. Luckily, it was quite nice to spend that extra time with her husband.

xxx𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒹𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Lochi grew up helping his family at their little jewelry shop. He grew up learning how to design and craft the settings, and can identify gem quality super well. When he was 5, Lochi's parents told him he was going to be a big brother, which was.... super weird. Later that year, his super-round mama had to go to the hospital. Lochi stayed with his grandparents for a couple days. After that, he went home to meet a tiny baby. Apparently it was another boy, so Lochi was no longer the only boy. After being very upset for a while, Lochi agreed to help his parents. Clearly, the best way to do that would be by teaching the little baby all about gems!
A couple years later while his parents were distracted, Lochi tried to get the sparkliest emerald off the very top shelf, when somehow it just floated down. Lochi held it carefully, sitting down to show it to Sammie baby. After a second, it ended in terror. Sammie had grabbed the ring and ate it. The whole family went to the hospital, where the ring was.... "retrieved" and his parents pondered just how Lochi had gotten the ring.
No more weird accidents happened until Lochi was ten. A couple of the kids in school had told him he could make macaroni and cheese without adding water and it would be a ton better. He tried it, but unfortunately ended up with burnt noodles and a small fire. Just as his parents walked in, Lochi leaned in close to the fire, trying to rescue the noodles. His mom screamed and reached to grab him, but the flames... weren't hot. They all gasped in shock, but the flames were extinguished by his father. A year later, Lochi was gifted with a letter inviting him to magic school. Awesome!
xxx𝒮𝒸𝒽𝑜𝑜𝓁 𝒴𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓈xxx School started out super awesome. He was sorted into Ravenclaw house, which was where intelligence and creativity were valued above all. It was weird to be away from home, but as he fell into rhythm with classes and even a cooking club, he started to really enjoy the time spent at the castle. He didn't really make too many friends, though some kids picked on him, especially when it came to light that he couldn't figure out sarcasm very well. As the years went by, he settled into his rhythm, doing his best to practice his future work while away from home.
It wasn't until fifth year that Lochi actually met a couple people, Aire and Jess, that both seemed to like him on a friendly level. Ironically, both were met while studying in the library. Perhaps he'd spend more time there. After doing up his OWLs, he went home, excited to tell his family of his newfound friends. Only a handful of days into the summer, Jess showed up at his shop to look at some jewelry for her new piercing. The two got to talking, and with a burst of confidence, Lochi asked Jess on a date. Somehow, she agreed, and the two went on a date. There, one date became two, then three. It was exciting, because when school came around, surely everyone would know.
xxx𝒜𝒹𝓊𝓁𝓉𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx After proving himself in school, Lochi graduated with high marks. His parents were really proud of him, and he was able to start working full time with his parents. He made a ring set for Eden and Callie, and Finley as well. It was pretty cool. On his nineteenth birthday, his parents gave him a key to the shop, and signed over 50% ownership. It was awesome, and it meant that he'd soon be able to afford a house for him and Jess, and to be able to propose to her.

(He insists that if all the worlds’ leaders would just sit down and have some finger sandwiches and freshly squeezed lemonade, world peace could be established in an afternoon.)
xxxxx⇾Fᴏʀɢᴇᴛғᴜʟ: While generally great at taking care of himself and others-- making food, doing housework, helping with the shop-- Sammie also gets really into whatever he’s doing and simply forgets. He sometimes needs reminders to get water or take things out of the dryer or such.
xxxxx⇾Iɴᴛᴇʟʟɪɢᴇɴᴛ: Although sometimes a ditz when it comes to some everyday things, Sammie is a clever student of mineralogy and all kinds of learning. He often overthinks a simple solution in favor of a complicated one.
xxxxx⇾Cʀᴇᴀᴛɪᴠᴇ: Sammie has a creative way of looking at problems. He also likes to use creative outlets, such as drawing and his attempts at pottery. (hint: they never go well) He's not a super logical thinker, but that's okay by him. Every problem has a solution, even if it's not the usual one.

xxx𝒞𝒽𝒾𝓁𝒹𝒽𝑜𝑜𝒹xxx Sammie was born as a surprise to his parents, Elias and Genevieve. After a rough pregnancy, he was born two months premature and spent a while in the NICU until he was deemed healthy enough to go home with his family. As he got older, he remained more sickly than his brother, and his family had to be at constant worry of him catching ill.
When he was two, Lochi was showing him a sparkly red ring, which, naturally, Sammie thought meant it was a snack. Apparently that'd been the wrong thought, since the whole family went to the hospital to fish it out. As he grew, so did his curiosity. When he was only 5, his big brother got told he was magic, then he left to go to magic school. That day broke poor Sammie's heart. Luckily Lochi wrote lots of letters, including pictures, and always came home on breaks. On Sammie's eleventh birthday, a letter came by owl. There was a card from Lochi.... and a letter from the magic school???? Instead of being for Lochi, Sammie was surprised to see his own name on the letter. With a little prompting, he opened the letter to get his very own invite to the school. He still doesn't know when he did magic though.....
