Heya! Welcome back Violet! I adore Claire and totally would like to throw some of my professors at her for kicks! Just a few things (that might have changed?)
1. The year is now 2056, so if she's born in 2024 she'd be 32!
2. There's some information about Salem Institute in the guild including the houses and electives! If you could account for this in her electives and house, that'd be much appreciated!
3. For strengths and weaknesses we generally prefer more personality focused strengths and weaknesses. If you'd really like to emphasize a skill, that could work, but having something that remains relevant would be greatly appreciated! (instead of like Astronomy, which she doesn't seem to have any use for anymore XD)

Looking forward to her development and classes! biggrin And to roleplaying with you! ~𝔞𝔡𝔡𝔞𝔢𝔩𝔩𝔦𝔰

xxxPERSONALITYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

KINDHEARTED Claire is the sort of person who would do just about anything for just about anyone. She wants people to reach their best selves, and it kills her to see them stumble. One of the worst things for Claire as a teacher is to see her students fail. As a result, she's willing to go the extra mile to try to make sure that doesn't happen. Of course, if they aren't willing to take advantage of that, then that's on them.
DISORGANIZED Claire would not call herself disorganized. The stacks of papers on her desk are just categorized in a system that is only decipherable by her, and only under certain circumstances. She would definitely never lose a paper. Her office also is in a similar state of mess. Claire has been known to miss appointments, dates, and on occasion, job interviews as a result. She's slowly learning to fake being organized, but it's a process.
CLEVER Claire doesn't describe herself as being particularly smart, despite scoring well on her exams. Instead, Claire will tell you that she's just really good at figuring things out. Most exams follow a logical pattern. Give Claire a problem to figure out, and she'll eventually get around to finding a solution - even if that solution is the most chaotic, impractical solution there could be.
IMPULSIVE Claire really does try to be organized. She tries to stick to the plan, and check all of the boxes, but sometimes, that just doesn't happen. Sometimes a lesson plan is just throwing your students at something to see if they'll figure it out. Sometimes, instead of lesson planning, Claire decides to go out, even if she has to teach early in the morning. In spite of this, Claire usually gets things done. Usually.
ADAPTABLE Supplies aren't ready for a lesson? Claire can figure it out. Whether it's moving her lesson or deciding to do something else, Claire's pretty good at just going with the flow. Heck, she's even fully prepared to throw the actual lesson out the window and just teach the students how to be people if that's what the day calls for. As long as her students know what they need to know to be successful, Claire considers it a win.
SARCASTIC Would Claire ever threaten to throw a student into the Whomping Willow? Yes. Would she actually do it? No, absolutely not. The important thing to know about being around Claire is that she absolutely does not take herself seriously unless, of course, you manage to piss her off. The moment Claire is no longer sarcastic and is deadly serious is probably the moment you should get your affairs in order.

LIKES
■ coffee - there may or may not be a stash in her office, as well as in her classroom
■ spending time with her students - contrary to how some teachers may feel, Claire actually likes to see her students as people, not academics.
■ travel - there are many interesting and exciting places in the world. Claire wants to see them all.
■ music - if you were to walk by Claire's office while she's in there working, you'd likely find her jamming out to some sort of music.
■ salty foods - they're just the best to snack on. Claire would always rather have a bag of chips than some candy
■ crocheting - there are so many balls of yarn all over her office. So many.

DISLIKES
■ tourists - travelling is fun. Dealing with people who want to take their time and look at every, single, thing is not.
■ pizza - Claire always says this is the real reason her family disowned her. (It's not.)
■ gardening - half the time, Claire is lucky she can keep herself alive. Don't ask her to keep plants alive.
■ when students don't try - it's one thing to fail because you don't understand. It's another thing completely to fail because you don't even make an attempt.
■ bullies - one of Claire's number one rules is simply "don't be a jerk."

STRENGTHS
■ Counter-Curses
■ Transfiguration

WEAKNESSES
■ Herbology
■ Astronomy

FEARS
■ One of Claire's worst fears is that her parents will show up to drag her home. There's a reason she put a whole ocean between her and them.
■ Snakes. There's not a huge reason for this, but it's been something that Claire avoids like the plague because she doesn't want to have to put her heart back into her chest.

xxxBACKSTORYxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

EARLY CHILDHOOD It's important to realize that Claire's story doesn't start in 2024 with her birth. Instead, it starts in May of 1998 with her grandparents. That was when her grandparents fled England and moved to a small town in New England.

Why flee England? Well, Claire's grandparents had been Death Eaters, and while you could kill the face of evil, you can't completely kill the evil that lived within them. Rather than risk being sent to Azkaban for any crimes they may or may not have committed, her grandparents decided to run away.

Eventually, they had Claire's father and raised him with the same prejudices toward Muggles and Muggleborns that they had. He wasn't a Death Eater, but he certainly held their views, and so he ended up marrying a woman who held those same views. After all, he couldn't risk polluting their bloodline.

All that being said, Claire had a fairly ordinary childhood. Her father would go to work at the American Administration of Magic, and her mother would stay home with her. They would have family dinners and vacations. They would even have family game night. One of Claire's favorite memories with her family was going to see the Quidditch World Cup.

Claire was very loved as a child, and she knew it. But all of that wouldn't last forever.

SCHOOL YEARS As expected, Claire received a letter to attend the nearest PreWiz school shortly after she turned seven. It was there that Claire was first able to make friends without her parents around, and likely there that the cracks started forming in her relationship with her parents. Children don't fully understand what it means to hate someone, and so Claire made friends with just about anyone. How could she not? She was friendly and liked to have fun.

Claire picked up on quite a few of the basics of having magic while at PreWiz school, and eventually went on to attend Salem Witches Institute. While there, she was placed in Chameleon house, which was probably one of the best places she could have ended up.

You see, Claire's parents had a plan for their daughter. Their plan was for her to learn their prejudices; to hate those who did not have pure, magical blood. Their plan was for her to get involved in wizarding government and further the world vision that her grandparents held.

The problem with getting an education though, is that students tend to develop their own worldview. Or at least students who are encouraged to be independent enough to come to their own conclusions. Sure, Claire picked classes that would appease her parents, but in no way was she going to let them control what she was going to do with her life.

That was the cause of a lot of Claire's problems. The other part was that she thought that maybe, just maybe, she could change her parents. Spoiler alert: she could not.

POST-GRADUATION Claire graduated with high marks in just about everything. Her parents were confident she was going to get a position in government, just like they planned. But then, she didn't. What she did do, was get a job in a shop until she could figure out exactly what it is she wanted to do.

Understandably, Claire's parents didn't like that. After about five years of this, they gave her an ultimatum: go for one of the many government jobs they kept throwing at her, or be married to someone of their choosing. Claire liked neither one of those options, and so she came up with her own option.

For three years, she spent her time pretending to apply to jobs, and actually applying to jobs. If she got an interview, she would purposefully do badly on it. Sometimes, she didn't even have to try. She would forget to show up or write it down on the wrong day. All the while, she kept saving up money.

Eventually, Claire's parents eventually caught on. Fortunately, Claire finally had saved up enough money to follow in her grandparent's footsteps and flee the country to avoid something unpleasant. As a result, Claire's parents have just about completely cut her off. Some might not mind this, and most days, Claire doesn't. But sometimes, she does find herself missing them.

Not sure what to do with herself in a new country, away from everything she ever knew, Claire decided to get involved in the thing that changed her life: academia and is now about to start her first year as a professor at Hogwarts.
