This branch of the Al-Kendari family have long roots in Kuwait. After settling down in Kuwait, they started a ship-making business during the boom of Kuwaiti seafaring and pearl-diving, combining traditional techniques with magic and spells specifically tailored to their business. Their boats were popular with both magical and non-magical customers and to this day, the Al-Kendari shipwrights are known to make beautiful, functional and durable wooden that are still in demand. The current patriarch and owner of the business is Majed Al-Kendari and his eldest son Fawaz was designated his successor.

Adnan's parents like to say that the first sentence he uttered was a question and he hadn't stopped asking them since. He couldn't help it, how is he expected to do something if he doesn't understand why it's necessary or how things work? Sometimes though, his curiosity gets the better of him and got him in trouble a few times.

Adnan had a habit of acting before thinking. Or rather, he acts while thinking and only considers the consequences after starting. He usually divides thing into 'now' and 'later' so he has trouble planning things long term.

It isn't that Adnan doesn't like to ask for help, he just forgets that he can. He can get so focused on whatever it is that he's doing that when he's stuck, he tries to work through it before he's reminded that he can get help. This habit has helped him at home and when moving but has harmed him just as much.

Adnan does not like stress, even though sometimes his actions leads to it. He's pretty easy-going and enjoys relaxing when he can. There's no point in suffering soul-crushing work only to be too tired to reap the benefits later in his opinion, and as long as nobody's harming others then he doesn't think it's anyone's concern what they're doing with their life.

Adnan was the first child of Fawaz and Souad, born in Kuwait years after they were married (scandalously late according to distant relatives) as they wanted to enjoy their honeymoon years before having kids. Growing up, his parents were open-minded and rather indulgent of him, stopping just shy of spoiling him. He made friends at school easily and when his brother and sister were born, he took to caring for them like a fish to water. Up until he was 12, he attended regular muggle school and was homeschooled by his grandfather in the family's magical traditions until he applied and got accepted at Dar Ar-Rikham.
SCHOOL YEARS:
Being in a new school and country, Adnan thrived at the Dar. His studies were intense and more than once Adnan bemoaned how much work he had to do to his bemused parents and horrified siblings. He flitted between various extra-curricular activities but found a passion for calligraphy that remained consistent, to the suprise of most people who knew him. Studying didn't come easily to him, but he managed to scrape by with good if not passing grades in most of his subjects.
ADULTHOOD:
After graduating and leaving the Dar, Adnan moved back to Kuwait, doing odd jobs and helping his family, but he struggled to figure out what he wanted to do in life. It did not help that since he graduated and came from a good family, he was considered an eligible bachelor and thus was inundated with relatives and family friends offering to set him up with a good match despite his protests. Thankfully, he remained in touch with most friends he made in Lebanon and one of them, Hadi, connected him with his uncle who worked in the UK as a master calligrapher. Adnan jumped at the chance to escape Kuwait and actually work in a field he enjoyed. His family was reluctant at first, since the apprenticeship would last years and the UK was much further away than Lebanon, but Adnan's pleading and the fact that he had some relatives in the UK convinced them.
