Brian didn't try to pry Arven off him, knowing the kid was just frustrated. As it was, however, he didn't have to, as Barbara walked over and did it for him. "It's a giant boulder, Arven," he said, his voice calm. "It's not going to break on the first or second hit. Besides, one of our current group is a Ground Channeler, so the vibrations we're putting out by doing this should alert her to our---" He stopped as Lu paused, apparently hearing something, then motioned for the rest of them to move back as she resumed hitting the boulder. "Ah, seems I spoke too soon," he said, giving a slight smile. "Someone found us, and going by the dust that boulder is suddenly putting out, they've got one of their own Pokemon hitting it from the outside."

As he was speaking, Rachel's Skiddo struck the boulder one more time and the whole thing shattered, leaving the opening free and sunlight streaming in. Brian and Rachel both let out grateful sighs, happy to see sunlight again. Neither could blame Arven for how he reacted to finally being free. Brian glanced at Rachel as she recalled her Skiddo. Hmm, she might make a good addition to Snagem, but that wasn't his call. He'd suggest she talk to Sub to see if he would be alright with having her join the team. "Thanks, Aile," he said, walking over the Ground Channeler. "I have no idea how long we'd have been trapped in that cave if ye hadn't come along."

It would take a moment for Beau to pull himself off of the rock face that had become his temporary home, staring over towards the slowly shrinking and still very on fire Arboliva. Man, that oil it had been spreading around gave the boom a lot more punch than he expected. A surprising amount, honestly. And no one seemed to be throwing a Pokeball to claim it after the hard fought victory. Deciding to take advantage of the major opening for more materials for arson and explosions, Beau would throw a Pokeball towards the fallen Grass type to try and lay claim to it himself as he finally got close enough to actually do so.

Whether or not it worked, Beau would soon find a new issue manifesting itself as apparently the Arboliva hadn't laid claim to the Herba Mystica but was instead playing parasite on to of the Klawf that had laid claim to it initially. And it seemed very pissed about the fact he and the rest of the nearby Snagems were now on top of its shell. Finding himself quickly sandwiched between two pillars of rock, Beau would shout up towards his Charizard. "Zippo! Brick Break! Get me outta here!" From up above, still recovering from the harsh impact that had just sent the Arboliva crashing back into normalcy, Zippo would eventually get his bearings before diving down towards where Beau was, aiming to smash both the rocks entrapping his trainer and smack the Klawf for daring to do this massive assault.

The ball would bounce off Arboliva, open up and attempt to convert the grace type into energy and absorb it into itself however the olive Pokemon would begin to turn into red energy just for a second before stopping all together and the ball would slam shut and fall back to the ground in failure. This Pokemon was already owned by someone, if Beau wanted it he'd have to snag it. However this did create some new questions.

-----

Ms. Raifort's eyes would go wide as Aile produced the Sweet Herba Mystica, the woman's eyes almost sparkling as she gazed upon the plant. "It's beautiful..." She said quietly. "To think, this tiny little plant is capable of creating such titanic creatures. Who knows what else it is capable of." Ms. Raifort continued. Coming up from behind was the white haired woman, Barbara, looking over Ms. Raifort's shoulder at the herb Aile was holding.

"That is what's responsible for the giant Klawf? Huh..." The white haired woman commented. "Has anyone tasted it yet? The stories say they possess incredible flavor!" Arven spoke up, more interested in its culinary profile than its ability to grow Pokemon giant.

The teacher would start to reach for the Herba Mystica, wanting to take it into her hands and get a closer look, before she could grab it however the ground would begin to shake violently. "Earthquake! It's going to cause another rock slide! We got to get out of here!" Arven began to scream and panic, not wanting to experience being trapped again.

"That's not just an earthquake, something big is moving around." Barbara the Rock Channeler spoke up, unbothered by the moving ground. "Think it's that crab again?" She asked no one in particular. With that comment Ms. Raifort turned to Aile. "Where are your friends? They may need your help."

-----

The massive quake created by Mamoswine would split the ground, creating a fissure which would rapidly widen. As the ground moved the crab would scuttle a bit as it tried to maintain its balance however it would end up stumbling into the fissure Mamoswine created, causing it to lean to its left side, using its left claw to help hold itself up as it stumbled. While trapped in this fissure Klawf would get pummeled by a Charizard with Brick Break after freeing Beau, chipping a few superficial pieces of its carapace off, followed up by a powerful Focus Punch from Gorlurk, the crab unable to stop its charge up due to its vulnerability in this moment, the charged up blow taking off a larger piece of its carapace and the Klawf's trapped leg buckling a bit but not enough to fall. The unconscious body of the Arboliva would slide off the Klawf's back.

Freth's plan was a good one, to flip the Klawf, leaving it at their mercy, however while the Klawf had stumbled right into the fissure as planned and it was leaning to one side it was able to withstand the blows on its back, its shell tough. What one of the more eagle-eyed might see, if they weren't worried about squished, was there there was a semi-fresh wound on the underside of the Klawf, probably given to it during its first encounter with the Snagems. The problem though was what those near it, like Charizard and Gorlurk, were experiencing as Rock Tomb pillars jutted out of its and threatened to ensnare them, sort of a defense mechanism. It would be difficult to get near its body and its shell was very thick, they could deal damage to it but it would be a long drawn out fight to take it down the old fashioned way. Their best bet was indeed to flip it and attack its weak point for massive damage.

"Klaaawf!" The beast roared as it attempted to pull itself out of the fissure, the Snagems noting its leg seemed stuck in the fissure for now, as would the Klawf as it instead went on the attack instead of worrying about its leg in the moment. Using its right claw it would aim at Freth and Mamoswine, then at Odd and Tsuki individually, firing off giant boulders bigger than Mamoswine by using Rock Blast. After the third launch boulder the Klawf would swing its claw around and strike the ground in Beau's direction, using Bulldoze to send a shock wave of Ground energy at the hybrid, the dirt upturning on itself collecting rocks and debris along the way as a tsunami of soil threaten to sweep up and bury Beau.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 21, 2024 1:41 pm
With the Klawf now off balance, stuck in the fissure for the moment, the team needed to get this thing fully flipped. However, this titanic Klawf was not going to make that easy. As it flailed and struggled, it started to launch all manner of attacks, one of which, a Rock Blast which threatened to flatten both Mamoswine and Freth. While the first one, the two avoided just fine, prompting them to run for cover, the second one that came in short order, although missing, was large enough to make a hard enough impact on the ground, making Freth trip. The third one, which followed after threatened to take both Freth and Mamoswine out altogether. “Mamoswine! Ancient Power!” Freth shouted. Mamoswine quickly turned around and unleashed a rock attack of its own, meeting the rock blast attack with a rock attack of its own. Glowing boulders start to fire off from the ground soon after Mamoswine stomped down once more and the rock attacks crashed, but the momentum of the Rock Blast attack overpowered Mamoswine’s attack and blasted the beast. The Mamoswine roared out as the massive rock not only went through Mamoswine’s attack but carried the large, burly Mamoswine off a fair way. The hit was nothing shy of brutal. “Mamoswine, are you alright!?” Almost similarly to Sneasel and the Arboliva, it’s a bit hard to keep your wits about you when you get rocked and tossed and such a manner. Fortunately, giving a shake of its body, it was up, but he wasn’t feeling the greatest. He wasn’t taking another shot like that.

The way this Klawf was flailing around, they weren’t going to get too much of an opportunity to flip it. They need to pull it over somehow. Make it go all the way. Even though it had one side exposed, it was difficult to do so considering that it still had the means to shift the earth with its arms and legs. The Charizard and Golurk can’t seem to get any headway on it either. She needed something else…”Mamoswine, if you can! Stone edge! See if you can’t lift that thing!”

The Mamoswine had to compose itself once again, still not feeling the greatest after the Rock Blast attack, but went on as commanded. As it trampled across the dusty canyon, the Mamoswine roared out once more and then slammed down on the ground once again. Rocky pillars started to shoot out of the ground, making a trail for the Klawf’s barely exposed underside, threatening to push it all the way over. However, Freth knew that Mamoswine alone wasn’t going to be able to pull that off. She was going to need help.

"That's not just an earthquake, something big is moving around." Barbara the Rock Channeler spoke up, unbothered by the moving ground. "Think it's that crab again?" She asked no one in particular. With that comment Ms. Raifort turned to Aile. "Where are your friends? They may need your help."

The earthquake coming in would overload Aile for a moment, the tremors taking over all of her senses for a moment. When she could get them sorted out again, she stashed the Herba away as Tatooine returned, looking nervous and worried. "Goon gon! Fwy gongon!"

"Right. Be careful, probably see about getting to high ground. Unless anyone else wants to help with that thing." Hoisting the backpack onto her shoulder, the little Wooper squeaking in shock, Aile would climb onto Dagobah again and nod to her Flygon. "Lead the way, Tati." On that command, Tatooine would fly off, keeping low and hear her group as she led them through the winding paths.

Arriving at the battlefield, Aile would barely have time to take in the scene before the Klawf went on the attack, her eyes drawn to the earthen tsunami. "Merde. Dagobah, use Stomping Tantrum to try and break a hole in that wave,” she’d order her bear, sliding off as the Ursaluna started her charge, attempting to stomp down the ground in front of her as she ran and make a hole into the giant wave threatening to crash down on her trainer's allies.

After sending Dega off, the woman would also notice Tsuki getting a giant boulder thrown at him, given graciously by the giant rock crab. And the poor kid didn't look like he was in a good position, either, with his Magby looking like they were out of the fight. "Tati, go help them out! The one with the Magby!" With a nod, the Flygon dove in to grab Tsuki and his Magby, flying up and out of the way of the incoming boulders. "Gon gon," she'd ask, wondering if they were going to be okay. Though, it was probably rather debatable on if Tsuki could understand her.

“Mag…? Magby?” Maggie asked while in Tsuki’s arms as the duo tried to dip out of the immediate fray- well. For as long as they both could until they learned that they were standing on the Klawf itself. The Revive and Potion had been a help, sure, but she wasn’t exactly a fountain of endurance with all of the Rock and Ground chi and moves at the Titan Pokemon’s disposal. One good hit and she’d go back down again. Tsuki understood that at least, grimly made aware that he did need to catch another Pokemon if he wanted to go on any track that didn’t involve staying inside and studying all day. His starter was amazing, but one pocket monster and a dream could not and did not make a team on their own.

Tsuki stumbled once the Klawf tripped into the Fissure and he would have been done for if not for his seeing the shadow of a Flygon from up above. Hearing the familiar cry of a Pokemon he had also raised, the trainer’s ears perked and he put up no fight when the dragon swooped in and took him out of the Rock Blast’s path. “Terr-?!” He asked, cutting himself off once he realized that this wasn’t his Flygon. When Tatooine tried to ask if he was alright, the boy could only tilt his head. “Sorry, my Flygon is kinda rusty!” He apologized. It was half truth, of course, Tsuki did in fact understand a little bit of Flygon… but only the swears.

Not wanting to toss his barely recovered Magby back into the fray, but also not wanting to be out of the fight, Tsuki looked back and forth between Maggie and Tatooine before saying “Mags, can you use your Poison Gas from above that Klawf? I’ll hold you- and uh sorry Flygon if that gets it’s attention! But we gotta wear that thing down.” He said, holding his little fire type pointed down and as far away as he could manage. Maggie inhaled, held it for a moment, and exhaled a terrible smelling gas that would poison anything thay directly breathed it in. The boy held his breath and tried not to gag too much. How his cousin decided that becoming a Poison type specialist was a good idea was beyond him.

Sol had a harder time than expected getting himself into the air for safety, weaving between Klawf's attacks while trying to fully catch a second wind. Once he managed to finally get his bearings, he'd also see what Freth had in mind by trying to flip the titan over and expose its underside. Distance was on his side for the moment, but getting close would've been a bad idea. "May not be the strongest option, but let's see if we can influence that flip a bit more. Freth, I'm throwing in a Psychic blast or two, see if you can't add your own!" He remarked, focusing enough energy to let off a couple of Psychic bursts around Klawf's side in hopes of aiding Mamoswine's Stone Edge and keeping the titan from attacking as much.

Aile would arrive just in time to help save Beau, Dagobah coming down with its Stomping Tantrum to disrupt the oncoming Bulldoze, dirt and rocks flying all over the place, much of it raining down on Dagobah. The Ground specialist would then have her Pokemon save another as the Flygon swooped up and spared Tsuki from being flattened by the giant airborne boulder, the rock slamming into the ground with a devastating impact, missing its mark.

The Poison Gas would then fall upon the Klawf, the Titan taking in a deep breath and begin coughing. Titan Klawf was now poisoned. Distracted by the gas and its coughing the Klawf wouldn't see the Mamoswine attack as the rock pillars of the Stone Edge would slam into the crab's underside with enough force to lift it up off the ground a few feet more for a very brief moment, the giant crustacean now leaning to one side even more. This would be followed up by Sol delivering a few Psychic blasts to its underside which would definitely keep the Klawf from righting itself and getting back on the ground but it wasn't enough to completely flip it over, they needed one more push...or maybe a pull.

"Use Explosion!" Larrimore called out as he arrived on scene, running up from behind Sol, having been swinging his Pineco by a String Shot thread overhead as he tried to gain momentum. He would then let his Pineco go and sent it flying into the underside of the Titan Klawf. The pinecone Pokemon would slam into the Klawf and immediately explode, the force of the explosion lifting it even more. The force of the Explosion caused it lean more and more until it reached the point of no return as gravity did the rest. Suddenly it came off the ground completely and flipped over, landing on its back with a powerful tremor shaking the ground. The Stony Cliff Pokemon was now vulnerable and everyone could now see the exposed fresh wound on its underside from where it had encountered the Snagem prior.

"I don't care for such unseemly attacks but there was no other option." The Bug hybrid said as he tossed a Pokeball into the air above the Klawf. "Let's pummel this behemoth into submission, shall we? Use Hammer Arm!" He said to the other Snagems, inviting them to join in. The ball would pop open and release Chesnaught, the Grass type falling down with its fists clasped together and glowing with Fighting energy, bringing down with it a mighty Hammer Arm onto the wound of the Klawf. Once he made contact the Chesnaught would tuck into a ball and roll away off of the giant crab.

Aile breathed a sigh of relief as Dagobah managed to disrupt the Bulldoze heading for Beau, the giant bear shaking off the dirt and rocks that had been deposited onto her instead. “Nice job, Dega, thanks! Beau, you okay? Get your head in the game, there’s a giant crab- Merde!” She’d be cut off by the tremors of the Klawf getting flipped over and landing on its shell, hard. The tremors would be all she could even attempt to focus on at that moment, like a flashbang had gone off that only she could see.

After about a minute where she was shaking her head and regaining her senses, she’d notice Larrimore in the area and ordering his Chesnaught to attack. “Right. We’re still dealing with the crab.” She’d look up to Tati, who was flying closer with a look of concern after she was stunned for a bit, and gave the sand dragon a small nod towards Tsuki. Getting the hint, Tati nodded in return and looked down to the kid, waiting to see what he’d want to do.

With that sorted, Aile would turn her attention back to the Klawf, agreeing that they should take advantage of this moment before it found some way to right itself. “Dega, Headlong Rush! Help bring that thing down!” Dagobah roared and charged in, slamming herself recklessly onto the crab that forced them to retreat last time. Hopefully not this time, though.

After getting free of his imprisonment, Beau would already be hard at work trying to identify where that Arboliva had shifted itself to. Sure, there was the giant crab to worry about but he felt confident he could leave that to the others. The Arboliva that was trainer owned and had been parasitizing the thing definitely warranted some sort of response. Namely, as Beau activated the Snag Machine on his right hand, claiming it as his own and seeing if there might be a way to get the thing to help identify its owner. Loading another Pokeball into his hand and giving it a minute to allow the Snag Machine to do its work, Beau would throw the ball towards the Grass type.

Remaining locked onto the Arboliva, Beau's concentration would only be broken when Aile yelled at him. Snapping back to the fact that apparently the Klawf threw an attack his way. Shaking his head before looking up to his Charizard, Beau would call out, "Zippo! Divebomb it with a Fire Fang!" Giving a nod, the Charizard would fly up a bit before flipping into a divebomb towards the wound in the Klawf's belly. His mouth would engulf in flames as he went in to bite deep into the wound, hoping that the flames directly into its body would get past whatever resistance its typing might offer. Giving a few extra bites for good measure, Zippo would fly off again to clear way for the next attacker.

As the crab started to squirm, trying to get back upright, it probably wouldn't be long before it did and the team needed to bring an end to what was already a long grueling fight with it and the Arboliva before it. "Mamoswine! Icicle Crash!" she shouted.

"MAAMOO!" he shouted. The Mamoswine rushed for the compromised Klawf, ice starting to collect before it, forming into a large icy chunk. With a roar, the Mamoswine unleashed the attack, the icy boulder being launched up towards the air then having it crash back down upon the Klawf's underside.

Seeing the Klawf taking the Poison Gas directly, Tsuki pulled Magby back and decided to pull back from the fight. Direct damage of any kind of worth wasn't something that he could provide; wearing the Titan Pokemon down slowly through incremental damage was the best he could do. Climbing up Tati carefully, knowing where to put his feet and how to climb up a Flygon without bothering her too much from his experience with his own, he checked out what exactly was going down. That purple Articuno looking lady was having her Mamoswine go tusk to claw with the Klawf, that madman with the Charizard was having it gang up on it in the air with what looked like hit and run tactics, and the person who lent him Tati was having her... actually he didn't recognize whatever that thing was- a different form of Ursaring? Well, she was having it charge the crab too. The group wasn't in need of another powerhouse at least.

Tsuki wondered what exactly he could provide for the battle. His Sunny Day was nearing it's end, but it was still up at least to help out where it could and with the Titan poisoned, it was just a matter of time before it succumbed to it's wounds, right? He scanned the battlefield carefully, instead of wildly charging headfirst like he might have before with some half cocked attack, and saw what looked to be some kind of Pokemon hiding inside of an olive. Was that a Caterpie or something? Regardless, he wanted to get it out of harm's way- especially before those attacks from the Snagems came through. He pat Tati's neck to direct her downwards, wanting to swoop down and pick the poor thing up. It was pretty close to the immediate fray, so they had to be fast with the pick up. "Can you do a barrel roll so we can grab whatever that is without losing momentum? I can hold on with my legs, promise!" He said, only mostly confident in his ability to not fall off.

He swooped down and reached out with one hand, another holding onto Maggie as they dived down to snag whatever was taking shelter inside of one of the Arboliva's fallen olives. "C'mon..." Tsuki mumbled as his legs trembled until he managed to grab the Pokemon like a Pidgeotto on the hunt, curling close to the Flygon as she finished her barrel roll before turning their flight back upwards. He'd check out what he grabbed later, when they were hopefully not on the giant crab's menu.

Odd lost his balance as the massive crab was flipped and tumbled into a more exposed position. The rumble of not only it's fall but the series of Earth-based attacks that came just before it caused the channeler to stumble and fall, going over the edge of the cliff he'd been standing near in order to see and direct his own partner better. "Telekinesis!" He shouted as he tossed out the Premier Ball containing his primary partner. Cadenza emerged in a flash and was quick to catch Odd in midair, a soft blue glow enveloping the young lich as the shed shell Pokemon's psionic power took hold.

"Can you flip me rightside up, please?" Odd requested more calmly than he was feeling in the moment. "Dissonance, use Gravity on Chesnaught! Let's make that hit even harder!" He called out as he was spun upright and Cadenza moved him toward the ground. Dissonance nodded and found a stable spot to focus on Larrimore's partner for a moment, hands taking on a black glow as they grabbed at the very fabric of reality and have a tug, increasing the pull of gravity on Chesnaught so it's attack came swifter and applied even more force when it hit, breaking the gravity field once it had hit so it would be able to escape retaliation.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 24, 2024 3:33 pm
The barrage of attacks would strike the Stony Cliff Titan in its wound and with each blow more and more of its stamina was sapped from it, the crab wobbling all the while as it tried to get up. The final blow would come in the form of Chesnaught's Hammer Arm, aided by Dissonance's Gravity, the Grass type coming down with even more intense might as it struck the Titan with a powerful blow. The crab would let out one last pained cry before it ceased its wobbling and went limp. The Stony Cliff Titan was defeated!

Chesnaught would jump off of the Titan and return to his trainer, Larrimore thanking the Pokemon before returning it, then turning his attention to the Titan. Before he could say anything Ms. Raifort would arrive on scene and stare up at the defeated Titan Pokemon in awe. "What power! The Herba Mystica are amazing! Who knew such a plant was growing here in Paldea!" She said in amazement, taking out her Roto-phone and taking many pictures of the Titan Pokemon. "This is a groundbreaking discovery!" She said, then becoming aware of her surroundings, the area battle scarred and broken. "...no pun intended."

Barbara would remain slight as she too approached the Titan, walking up close enough to it to put her hand on its body. She too was taken back by the creature's power, the Rock type's power. As a Rock type specialist this no doubt intrigued her. To herself she whispered. "...I must have it."

Arven however stayed far back from the thing, even in defeat he wasn't comfortable getting close to it. "Who has the Herba Mystica? Is it okay? ...and can I cook something with it? You know, as a victory celebration." He asked.

While they spoke something would happen to the Stony Cliff Titan as specs of pink energy would begin to float upward off of it like the Arboliva. As more and more of the energy dissipated from its body the Klawf would grow smaller and smaller until it was reduced to its normal size...at least, normal for it. Apparently as the one that feasted on the Herba Mystica it had the permanent effect of making it larger than normal.

"Huh...it shrunk but not...fully?" Ms. Raifort said, confused as she laid her eyes on the still rather large crab. She then looked at Barbara, knowing she would be the one with the knowledge ready, considering her expertise.

"I'd say it's over fifty percent bigger than a normal Klawf...it's still large." The white haired woman commented. She was a fairly short woman herself at five foot one but the Klawf, even on its belly, towered over her at two feet over her head. It was a big ole crab.

"Is someone going to catch it?" Larrimore said, asking the obvious question.

-----

Whether or not someone captured the crab (if they didn't it would come to and flee) the group would call the Squawkabilly taxis and call it a mission complete and head back to the academy with the Herba Mystica and a few unanswered questions. That was one down and however many more to go. Who knows what the next one has in store for them.

Tsuki landed once the Titan Klawf finally fell unconscious, hesitating until he saw that it was indeed starting to shrink. He sighed, relieved that the fight was finally over. Between it and the Arboliva, he wasn’t sure how much more he (read: Maggie) could take. Landing near Aile, he said “You’re this Flygon’s trainer right? I’m Tsuki, thank you so much for the help- I was actually toast for a minute there!” His Magby likewise nodded, the winded Fire type grateful for not having to be pushed to the edge in their second outing. Second! She was going drink berry juice and watch Rioluey when she got back to their dorm well into the night, damning her trainer’s already shoddy sleep schedule. He took a moment to scratch the top of Tati’s head. What a good girl.

A moment later, the other Pokemon in Tsuki’s arms wiggled out of it’s olive enclosure, and peeked out at the human that had grabbed it. An Applin was what was looking up at the redhead, one on the larger end of it’s species (a side of effect of being a leech of the leech to the Titan, Tsuki wondered) and it had what looked like an olive shaped stain on it’s forehead. “… App?” It asked him. Tsuki looked down and looked amused at the grass type. Oh! So it wasn’t a Caterpie or a Smoliv like he had originally thought. Seeing that the Pokemon had taken a fair bit of damage from sheer proximity to so many high powered attacks, the trainer decided that he’d treat it back at his dorm and that he’d find a suitable apple for it to shelter in. For now though, he tapped it on the forehead with one of his spare Pokeballs.

Wobble… wobble wobble… ding! Tsuki pocketed his new companion to sort out later. For now, he really needed to get something else sorted. “Also uh, hey can I join your guys’ team? I used to be in it, but some stuff happened. I’ve been trying to ask for like two days but stuff also keeps happening.” He asked Aile. He had lost track of Darts before the meeting with Director Clavell, and then Sub after the meeting and then Sol! The boy just needed to bite the bullet and directly ask the closest person with a SNAG Machine in sight otherwise he’d keep putting it off until they were well and gone from Paldea.
