This was inspited by MultiRocks2007's thread about martial arts.
The question is what was the weirdest, or most memerable, reaction you got when telling people about your martial arts hobbys.
Edit: Or any hobby in general.
Mine was at school, a teacher asked me "How did you hurt your hand?"
Me: "Gundo"
Teach: "Whats that?"
Me: "Korean sword fighting style."
Teach: "WHAT! o.O with real swords?!"
Me: -.- "Eventually, but we were using practice swords."
Teach: "Oh thats good, at least they're soft"
Me: sweatdrop "Well acctually they are heavy oak sticks in the shape of a sword, a few months ago somone broke their hand..."
Teach: eek

lol xd that would have been great to see. My weirdest one was when my youth group leader(church) found out I wanted to go into mourturay sciences. She sort of looked at me in digust and shocked and then backed away and went to talk to other people. Oh well. It was a good laugh.

Some guy in my class was going on about how you can knock someone out by punching them in the chest.
I, being in a karate, was being drilled four times a week about hitting these spots, so I piped up what the exact spot was called. And they just stared.
And the guy thought I was joking and he knew better than me, because he was in karate when he was about five years old. xp
So I continued with listing off pressure points until they moved a few desks away from me. =D It was worth it.

My weirdest reaction was when I went to school one day with boxers(clean if you want to know) and rammed headfirst into a locker. I left a big dent into it and everyone was staring at for 1.Why do I have boxers on my head and why did I ram a locker for no reason and 2.I was cussing bloody murder since my head hurted so bad.

People get freaked out when I tell them I was born in 1984. People think I look like I'm well into my 30s. I've been this way since I was...14.
Best moment: When I was 18, a friend of mine was late and I was waiting for him at the subway. I decided to ask someone if he had seen him.
ME: Uh, hey, have you seen anyone around here about...yea high with a baseball cap?
MAN: What's wrong? Did you lose your son?
ME [o.O]: Jah!? Dude, I'm eighteen!
MAN: Say what?
ME [whips out student card]: Yes, dammit.
MAN [inspects]: You look mature, man.
ME [-.-]: Tell me about it.

The weirdest reaction is when I was telling my friends about the replica of the Witch King (ring wraith or Nazgul) sword from LotR that I had ordered for my birthday.... They don't trust me with sharp things twisted
Friend1: What so your dad actually ordered it for you!?
Me: Well yeah... It is for my brithday that's all...
Friend1: But are you safe owning it.
Me: Well I doubt it's sharp like it's mean to be... though it could still cause damage n.n
Friend1: *backs away* I don't trust you...
Me: Well that's nice, what do you know anyway- you thought a Katana had something to do with a breed of cat stare (Yes they are ignorate and stupid)
Friend: Well I really think that you+sword= danger or someone injuryed
Me: ... Only in self defence.
It was funnier than it sounds, her face was a picture.

I think that my favorite reaction happened just the other day. I was talking to my teacher about not likeing big crowds of people and such and somehow I started to talk about when I went to ozzfest.. Here the scenario:
Me: .... Well when I went to ozzfest I went with just-
Teach: What the hell would you go to Ozzfest for?!?!
Me: .... Umm... I'm a muscian and I love music?
Teach: No.....~walks off and ignores me for the rest of the day~
Heh.. I think its because I keep myself so well dressed... I kinda dress really preppy... Well most days anyways. Yea.. It was pretty funny though.

Well... For one thing... I did a project on karate for my Study Skills class Sophomore year. And I brought in some boards to demonstrate with. Which happened to be a bad idea in return... I had my friend (who happens to be a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, I don't know if she does it anymore though) hold the board, then I got myself pumped up to break it. The thing is... I used all of my power to break it, and it didn't break. I pretty much dented it. And my hand too. Turns out that we were holding the board wrong, and I felt like an a**! So I go to school the next day, and my friends and teachers were like "What the hell did you do?!" I was like "I punched a board, and it didn't break." And they looked at me like "Why were you punching a damn board to begin with?!" So I had to go to the nurse because it was all pretty colors, and it hurt like hell. Even the nurse was freaked out. She was like "I don't think your teacher (my Sensei's) would be very happy to find out that you were punching boards..." So then I had to go to the hospital... It was pretty black and blue and purple... I ended up bruising the bones in my hand (the ones where the first 2 knuckles are). I was pretty lucky that I didn't actually break my hand!
Ok, so that's my story on how I almost broke my hand at school. xd

on halloween i went to my college classes all dressed up like a female Alucard for the passed two years... oh, i should probably mention i started wearing the costume in pieces on october first both years. mrgreen my memberable reaction: some guy walked up to me and handed me an invitation to a drama class, saying "You belong with us."
