Anyone fence or swordfight? Personally I like to use longswords, or really any European sword. Not really into katanas. xp

I'm better at form and technique than fighting, but I can still give a damn fight.

I rather use a Jian.

I practice with my Katana about every day. I have one of those rotating dummys with sticks attached to them. I still get my a** kicked by it after 30 mins. of practice.

I have competed internationally in Chambara and have won Gold medals for it.

Every once and a While I have the chance to play around with it.

and for anyone who is not familiar with chambara it is a non structured guerrilla war fare style version of Kendo.
I gave up on kendo a while ago, it's to structured to be of any use or hold any real substance behind it.

I don't really know much about kendo to know if I'm doing it. Me and my brothers, we get in actual armour and practice. I win alot since they can't figure out where I'm going to hit since I feint alot.

I'd like to take a fencing or sword play class. Right now I'm stuck practicing "Street" style in my backyard with my exhibition weapons.

Well I am currently learning to fight with a katana but I would love to learn to fight with a broadsword and swords of the medieval realm. I Love swordplay and I want to learn all. I am quite good with Sais, which are sort of a dagger/sword and defensive. I hope to get a boardsword soon and start partice... All my friend's think I'm so werid sweatdrop

I'm on a fencing team, and love it. I'm learning a couple of the more medieval weapon styles, but I can't really say I know any of them.

Chambara would definitely be my thing if I could find more people into it. Oh well.

Until then I do a lot of sparring with wooden swords and bokken. I'm more interested in actual defense and fun than the whole tea-ceremony-ifying of swordplay.

And as for that, It depends on what I'm going to use the thing for. A nice, heavy claymore does more damage in less hits. b*****d swords have versitility on their side, and scimitar's look REALLY cool and are easy to handle. If I were just going to play with swords all day I'd probably go for that.

I'm not really peeing my pants over asian swords, but I don't dislike them. I prefer that kind of meticulous craftsmanship in a bow, to be honest. razz But still, it's damn hard to go wrong with a dao.
